I've been coming here semi-frequently with friends and colleagues for mostly happy hours and when someone wants to use their credits. That being said, highlights are the chicken wings and the soups, both the chili and Italian wedding. Nachos are also of good size/portion, and relatively flavorful. I'd like to rate the "Pittsburgh" cob salad highly, but someone consciously made the choice to make the "fries" part of it with curly fries, which end up being an undesirable mess when you're working through the salad. Either way, this place is generally a great deal during the happy hour period and the servers are also very friendly. Why give it a 3? Recently the place has been under heavy renovation and everything is served in plastic containers and packets, which impacts the overall quality and feeling - salad dressings from warm packets thrown on the dish, etc. The renovation has went on for months with a limited menu, and multiple people have shared with me that they're not going back until the issue is resolved (timeline seems to be infinite). Otherwise, I'd give this place a "4" rating for value and what you'd expect inside of a casino. read more

I was killing time before dinner and decided to go to the Rivers Casino. While there, this looked like a good place for a beer, so I ordered a Modelo. I also noticed they had wedding soup, so I had to indulge as I can't really find it anywhere in FL. The soup was delicious and just like I remembered with most wedding soups. The beer was served in a plastic cup instead of a glass which just kinda made it blah. Am I at a frat party or a casino? The waitress was friendly and service was great! Stopped in for the Happy Hour specials before attending a concert at the casino. I had never been to the Wheelhouse specifically before this visit. We were there on a Thursday around 6 PM. I am not sure if it was because of the concert, the Happy Hour, or a combination of factors, but the restaurant was fairly busy. We sat at the bar, and it was completely full. It is a more casual restaurant, and it opens to the casino floor. I thought the value that the Happy Hour deals presented was hard to beat. We got several of the items to share, and it was under $30 for all the food. The portion sizes were generous, given the price point. My personal favorites were the Loaded Wheelhouse Fries and the Polish Hill Nachos. The items were similar, in being potato-based with nacho toppings. I thought the portions of these were great for the price, and they are very generous with the toppings. Sometimes with nachos and things such as, you are running out of toppings halfway through the plate. Definitely not the case here. There are some drink specials for the Happy Hour as well. I got a $4 Domestic Draft in a Blue Moon. There are also specials on certain cocktails, wines, and other non-domestic beer. A tip about the drinks - since the restaurant is inside the casino, you can take them with you anywhere throughout. So, we ordered some extra drinks and took them upstairs to the concert. The service is what knocked this review down a few stars for me. We were able to order the food in an appropriate amount of time, and it came out quickly. Since we were sitting at the bar, the bartenders were taking care of us. They were hard to get the attention of after taking our initial order. So much so, that we tried to order a few more drinks before the Happy Hour ended, and the bartender told us to hold on while he serviced new customers. This was around 6:50. By the time he circled back, it was past 7 and he would not honor the Happy Hour price. I have worked in food service for a long time, and I believe if you are present before the close/end of a promotion, you should have the opportunity to order at the promotional price. Plus, we would have ordered before 7 had the bartender taken our order when we tried the first time. I liked the specials and pricing for the Happy Hour. However, I would probably return on a less busy day or come earlier so the issue we had is less likely to occur. read more

As a 1st time guest this was a horrible visit to wheel house. The manager Hayden showed zero respect for any of the errors his kitchen made. Not only were 4 of the orders both cold & wrong, He basically laughed and said since the kitchen messed up we could either eat it or starve. We waited 20 minutes before the waitress even acknowledged us or took drinks during a 1/3 full dining capacity. Not only that we were supposed to have a different waiter but she covered for him as he came 25 mins after asking if we got menus. It wasn't busy during that time either. So right off the jump, this place wasn't my favorite. The salad was good and definitely worth the price but enough for 2 meals - very excessive amount. I wish I read that there was fries and bleu cheese crumbles in it - had to pick both out. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious but very small amount of that was given (see photo basically small gravy size bowl). No complaints on my end ! This isn't the first time I have eaten here but it has been awhile. A lot of restaurants /eateries change names / companies in the Rivers Casino so it says a lot that Wheelhouse has been there for a long long time ! My husband and I came here to eat before the Steeler game so we could do a little gambling as well. Though they were pretty packed , they managed to get us a small two top table . Service was pretty quick with drinks and food. Server friendly enough. I enjoyed the pittsburgh Cobb salad with chicken and my husband had the burger. Both absolutely wonderful! The portions are pretty big so you will certainly leave full , if not with left overs. I have also sat at the bar before and it wasn't a bad experience. Bartenders are super busy and certainly not there to chat, but I get it for the business they do! Atmosphere is very modern and simple. Not a ton of decor but who needs that when you have sports on their many many tvs! Great place to dine if you're going to enjoy a casino or north shore night. read more

I've eaten in the Wheelhouse multiple times over the years but this is my first review. My most recent visit was during happy hour. I had an 8oz NY Strip which was good, a little fat on the end but tasty. I had chili which was really good and my Sierra Nevada was excellent. Being seated at the bar my food came out promptly. Overall I've never had a bad meal here, and typically the food comes out quickly. I'd definitely recommend stopping in for a visit. read more

First time here. Went around 530 or 6. Right during rush hour. We were able to get a text when our table was ready. We requested for a specific table and they were able to do that for us. The place was busy but everything came out quickly. They had a ton of drink options and the food menu had a little of everything. The food was very well prepared. The white fish was buttery and flaky. It tasted fantastic. The steak was a perfect medium rare and well seasoned. It wasn't chewy like some steaks are. The garlic butter gave it. A real pop. Wheelhouse is a lifesaver. If you are in town and want a good meal after 9pm. Come to wheelhouse, because most restaurants close at 9-10pm even on weekend. Dinning area is huge. TVs on all the walls. Full menu of burger, sandwich, pasta and steak. $24.61 for a big bowl of chicken pasta with a salad is not bad in 2024. Taste better than some of the so call homemade Italian restaurant I been to. I could have sworn I've rated the Wheelhouse before, but don't see my review. We come here often before games or concerts. The food is always decent and the service is friendly. If you're in the right spot, you have TVs to watch sports if you'd like (quite a few TVs) or a view of the river. They have a good happy hour, too. Normally, the burgers I get there are very good and so is the rest of the food we've had there. The one time I had a very over cooked burger, they did offer to replace it and send a manager out to talk to me. read more

Despite being located in the casino, this restaurant does not try to steal your money. They have a good variety of food coming in decent portions for a decent price. The service and atmosphere are also just fine. If you sit far enough in the back, you can avoid the bustle and smells of the casino floor outside. Went to the Rivers on a Friday night and decided to get a late nite eat at the wheelhouse. There were no two seats together at the bar so since it didn't look busy at all we asked for a table. They obliviously didn't want to seat us at a table since they to referred us back to the bar. I mentioned there were not two seats together and they said one of us could stand until something opened. Shot that idea down. The dining area seemed pretty open and some time spent looking at the seating chart they seated us behind the notorious pillar where you aren't readily visible and that's been referred to in other reviews. Needless to say no one approached us for our order or drinks. After about 15 minutes I was done and let the host that seated us know. Terrible experience by people who don't care. Letting a server know you seated someone in there section is not a hard thing to do. read more

We had no intention of eating here, we were just going to play slots for a little bit and then leave for some fancy restaurant. But we played longer than expected and wanted to play again after dinner, so we decided to take a break from gambling and eat here. At 8pm there was no line at all, no wait and the host was so sweet. She accommodated our request to sit by the window to look out at the river. So mind you, we were not expecting much after having read the reviews but we honestly got great service from our waiter, Jamie. She kept checking on us (but not in a hovering way). We started with Garlic Parmesan chicken wings and no kidding, they were better than Wingstop or any of those chicken wing specialty places, plump and juicy. The side salad was perfect, with sliced cucumbers and the croutons were nice and crunchy. We didn't want anything too heavy to slow us down so we shared the pasta. The cavatappi was cooked al dente and the NY steak strips came out perfectly, medium rare as I requested. Before dinner, I expected to rate this place 3-4 stars based on the reviews. But honestly, this was a lovely dinner in nice surroundings with friendly, attentive staff. read more

My wife and I went in here for dinner on Saturday night. We put our name in and we had about a 45 minute wait which is fine because it was Saturday night and we were in a casino so we got to go gamble and play the slot machines. We were caught up and seated pretty quickly after we were told to come back. The weather was pretty nice eating really do much he was a little slow but he was still pretty nice. The atmosphere was pretty cool had a lot of fun TV is all around that we got to watch the games on. I ordered the turkey club it was $15 it was really good I enjoyed it very large my wife got the nachos and they were just OK by her standards and mine as well. I needed to kill time and went to the Rivers. First time in years. I was hungry and remembered that I liked the Wheelhouse when I ate there years ago. I opted to sit at the bar to avoid the 20 minute wait for a somewhat empty dining room. As soon as I sat down I was immediately asked what I want. I didn't get a chance to look at anything even begin to have an idea. I asked for a moment to look at drink options and asked for a menu. I Ordered a drink and looked over the menu. The menu is dramatically smaller than my last visit, albeit years ago and pre-COVID. I order a club sandwich which came with fries and added a cup of chili. I happened to notice a shit glass in front of me with a receipt in it. I guess that's how they track your tally. It was weird, the drink was less than the tent ad on the bar said and the chili add on was higher than the menu. It all averaged out. The chili took quite awhile to be delivered. No crackers offered, but came with sides of sour cream and shredded cheese. A little later the sandwich, fries and pickle arrived. The sandwich was okay, not exciting in anyway. Not the best club I've had and not the worst. My review rating is based upon the limited menu, the blunt but efficient service and the food quality. Sat at the bar on a Thursday night. Took about 6-7 minutes for a bartender to come over even though it didn't seem that busy. Ordered a Yuengling draft and a burger and things went south immediately. Beer was flat and warm. Bartender never came back so I didn't ask for a replacement. A different staffer came out with my burger after 30 minutes. Again it wasn't busy at all. Still no sign of the bartender. She walked around confused about where it went until I flagged her down and said it was probably mine. Ordered my burger medium but it came out pretty raw. Definitely seemed like a frozen Sysco burger and not something freshly made. Only took a couple of bites. Still never saw the original bartender who took my order. They leave your bill in a glass in front of if your seat, and when another bartender noticed I had it out with my card she took payment. No "how is everything." No check in. Inattentive service. Flat, warm beer. Raw burger. Awful, awful experience. If I'm ever planning a visit to the casino again I will plan to eat before or after. This place was awful. read more

3 of us went to Easter dinner yesterday...my daughter ordered a blackened chicken salad with no onions and no tomatoes. Her salad came non- blackened...we sent it back...by the time they brought it back, my husband and I were done eating....the salad came with tons of onions and tomatoes, which she is allergic to and the chicken was STILL not blackened...the manager was extremely rude and basically said too bad!!!! read more

Service was ok, at one point one of the waitresses was literally singing how she hates it there so there's that. The food was eh.. we tried the buffalo dip as an appetizer, very underwhelming. Great happy hour and bartenders. They have plenty of TVs so you can watch whatever game is on. Their blackened salmon is really good, and the Polish Hill nachos are amazing. You can't go wrong with the wedding soup, and the chicken broccoli alfredo is surprisingly good as well. Just watch out for that roasted banana pepper.. that sucker is spicy! My husband really enjoyed the Buffalo chicken sandwich, and I really enjoyed the grilled chicken and pesto sandwich. My favorite thing though is probably the open face pot roast sandwich with mashed potatoes. It's amazing. It does get pretty busy during happy hour or during events, but they have plenty of bartenders and have no problem keeping up. read more

Utterly disgusted with The Wheelhouse. We live nearby and walk to eat there often, planning to enjoy the patio near the river on perfect weather days like this one. We tolerate the food, hoping for the vibe. Trouble is... patio is rarely open and it's completely unpredictable. It's their business and, if they choose to close their space, that's their right. It's my right to not go back. But, my real complaint is that they seem to issue a standard "canned lie"... oh, there was a chance of rain so we didn't open patio today. We took visitors tonite, hoping to dine on the patio. Went an hour early to be sure we could get a table outside along the river. Weather forecast ALL day had rain chances at 1%. The flawless Pittsburgh day. We felt confident it would be the one day patio was actually open. Oh, yeah, patio is covered anyway. Host says "oh, the forecast had possible rain so we chose not to open the outside". When you just don't have enough staff...or staff not willing to walk to the patio... don't lie! We are not as stupid as we apparently look!! PS. The food/service is OK if you are in the casino anyway but it's most assuredly not worth a destination visit, especially if you can't sit outside.
