Whataburger opened a new location just West of IH35W at 114 which does not resemble any previous versions. We live about half a mile from their Corporate HQ and this Roanoke store has a brand new floor plan. Whataburger has been around since 1950 and we've enjoyed them since the 1970s. At this location you do not look into the kitchen there's a tile wall in between. This new format is attractive and functional. Our counter person was Melissa and she was doing well for a new hire. All nine of us were able to get food quickly and it was done correctly. Burgers and fries were cooked properly and were the chicken strips our grandkids favorite passed inspection. read more

Most disappointing experiance I've ever had from Whataburger. Pulled into the Roanoke location with two cars in front of me (orders already placed). I place my order and end up waiting 10 mins to get to the window - which is no big deal if your food is hot and fresh. However after paying, it took them 5 mins to get my drinks. piror to getting the drinks, I saw a bag placed on the counter which I thought - not mine. After anouther 5 mins, the server handed me the bag that had been sitting there so as you know, my food was now cold. What bothers me the most is while I sat at the drive through window, I watch 4 employees spend time talking and joking around. When I pulled away, I noticed that manager was out front smoking instead of doing his job. I understand slow service when a resturant is busy but there was only two other customers inside and by the time they messed up my order, there were 4 more cars behind me. Whataburger also doesn't give a damn about your feedback, I gave them feedback on their site and a nice long write up like this one, which they never bother to ask you for an email or phone number. Why because the big corporation no longer cares - I miss the day when it was family owned and the workers not only did thier job but wanted to make you satisfiied. So my advice - drive on down the street - it may not be a whataburger but at least you won't be eating cold food. Whataburger - if you really care like you say in your commercials, get your business headed in the right direction, the employees choose to work for you, make them work for your customers. It was my first time at whataburger with my husband and I must say.... I very much enjoyed the food. Josh was our cashier and understood it was our first time and was super helpful and nice. He recommended the sweet and spicy burger, which I got and absolutely loved! My husband got the bacon cheese burger and he loved it as well. We also got chicken tenders and those were good as well. They weren't dry. They were juicy. I love that they have strawberry Fanta which is my all time favorite soda! Over all good food and the person who helped us was very nice. Overall: You know, I had never been to a Whataburger before, so this was an interesting experience. Great stuff Food: The burgers were clean, and delicious. You know what Whataburger's taste like? They taste like Burger King's burgers but with mustard instead of mayo. Mustard should NEVER be on a burger! Ketchup and mayo, fine, but NOT mustard! I went to get some breakfast while my vehicle was being repaired. I walked in to the store and it's floor was so slick I almost slipped & busted my butt. I talked to the Mgr. and complained. She stated she knew the problem, but the owner's response to her passing on our info/complaints was... The owner said, "When you mop the floor, don't use any soap just watter." I told her that in my 30 yrs of my "adult" working life, I have worked as businesses safey/security Mgr. & if OSHA inspects their facilities the owner will face very stiff fines. I also reminded her that if someone falls in that dinning room, the personal injury tort would be almost a slam dunk. The employees & owners are ALL aware of the danger but are taking no actions to secure that area. I felt bad for her. You could see the frustration on her face. Still the worst Whataburger. Slowest drive thru experience. Simply ordered a #13 (chicken strips) with an extra order of fries. After about 15 min I finally got my food and drove home. Opened the bag to find I only got one order of fries instead of the one with the meal and the one extra that I ordered and paid for. Disappointed but figured I'd make do. But then I opened the box for my chicken. I discovered the smallest "chicken strips" I've even seen. They were basically nuggets and didn't seem fresh at all. Seems to me like the gave me the leftovers and didn't want to fry up some new, normal sized strips. After 15 min you'd expected freshly made food. But no. Just these leftover, tiny chicken bites and half the fries I should have received. Someone needs to get this place in order. read more

My dad was visiting from out of town and loves Whataburger-this was his first request when he arrived in Texas. I have never been to this location and was highly disappointed in the whole experience. It took over 5 minutes for someone to take our order-they were not busy but the employees were all standing in back and talking and even though they saw us they didn't come up right away to assist us. Then my dads order was wrong and my daughters hamburger was raw on the inside-she was so grossed out that she didn't even want anything else to eat. The entire restaurant was extremely dirty. Okay, we were told we HAD to visit this place. We asked the cashier what was the most popular and we ordered them. The first recommendation was the main burger. The bun was good, but the burger was just okay. The second was the BBQ chicken finger sandwich was different and good. The Monterey burger was to die for! The mushroom burger was super yummy. Food is good. My issue a with the manager. The girl who took our order was new and was having some trouble getting our order right. My husband was letting the girl know what was incorrect with the order, in a very respectful tone, when the manager came over and began arguing with my husband about what we ordered. He then, in a very condescending tone, pulled two drink cups from their sleeves and demonstrated to us, with flourish, the sizing difference between the small and a medium cup sizes. (Seriously, he spoke to us like we were small children, or incredibly stupid adults). All we were trying to do was tell them that the screen that displays our order showed a small shake when we ordered a medium. I went here at 4:30 am, dec 14, there was a lazy guy at the window, got our order wrong, charged us for ranch to dip our onion rings in, didnt put honeybutter on the honeybutter chicken biscuit, didnt give us any honey butter sauce to dip, and had a stanky attitude! Went to drive through at around 11pm. Ordered very clearly and our order was repeated very clearly by the cashier, but when we got home, all of us got the same thing. I wanted to try avocado burger, my cousin got a whataburger, and my brothers got onion rings and another kind of burger with thousand island sauce (apologies forgot the name). This Whataburger is all about customer service! That's a great thing. They ensure you are completely satisfied with your meal selections. Brayden (the new guy) at the cash register is new to the work force. He informed us that it's his first job when experiencing slight difficulties with the register. I appreciated his effort and he'll be a keeper wherever he works...great attitude! Michael (fellow worker) assisted with register trouble shooting. He's also a keeper and a great trainer. Finally, Alex can bust out the Spanish whenever needed for the non-English speaking customers. The location, cleanliness, and size of this Whataburger is perfect for all Whataburger seekers. The food was prepared excellent. It's apparent this Whataburger is well managed. They are all about Teamwork. read more
