Went to whataburger for lunch. A typically reliable lunch option, today was a bit disappointing. Ordered the chicken sandwich with onion rings and a strawberry milkshake. The buns were hard, almost like they were stale. Chicken was overcooked and dry. Onion rings had NO flavor. The breading was bland. Milkshake was good! ‍. This was a very quiet location in Roanoke, TX. Service was fast and friendly. And I really wanted to give it five stars. But.... The review is what it is.

All of these french fries fries are like potato stubble.

Dirty, slow, and too much mustard to handle Whataburger is not my usual go-to, but I needed a quick lunch in Roanoke, and fast food seemed like the best option. Sadly, I picked the wrong spot. First stop: the restroom. Let's just say I've seen cleaner gas station bathrooms. And who thought it was a good idea to install a faucet so short it barely clears the sink? Handwashing here is an Olympic event. At the counter, the cashier was too busy jamming to his earbuds to notice I was standing there. After some awkward waiting, he finally took my order but made me repeat everything. Everyone working here seemed to be moving in slow motion. The food? Well, let's start with the burger. I forgot to ask for mayo instead of mustard, and apparently, they decided to compensate by using half a gallon of mustard. The bun? Completely fell apart. And the fries were laughably short--are they slicing potatoes the wrong way? Definitely not a place I'll rush back to anytime soon.

Longest wait in the world... go to Taco Bell

Burgers & Curries is hands down one of our favorite Indian restaurants--easily top three for us…read more It also happens to be the closest Indian spot to us, but convenience aside, we genuinely love it. The restaurant is locally owned and run by the sweetest family, and you can really feel that care in both the service and the food. The space is small, clean, and welcoming, located right off 114 near the IHOP/Wingstop area. Despite the ongoing construction on 114 (which has been a mess), they've stayed incredibly consistent. The food is always good--like, reliably good--and I honestly have zero complaints. I always order the paneer tikka masala, and it is so, so good every single time. My husband and my boys are obsessed with the chicken biryani and swear it hits every time they order it. If you're looking for a great, family-run Indian restaurant with consistently amazing food, this is absolutely one you should try--and keep coming back to.

Pictured are the 4 quarter tandoori...$22 for each box. The chicken can fit in my palm. Pictured is the chicken tikka masala...$15 for 10 small pieces of cubed chicken, that were hard to find in all the sauce. We ordered two of these. Not pictured is palak paneer, but same quantity as the chicken tikka masala, only a few pieces, $14. Also got garlic naan, 4 slices for $8.

Atmosphere is nice and open with plenty of bar seats as well as communal high tops and standalone tables. Nice outdoor patio when Texas weather permits! Tried a couple of their beers: Miso Smooth (Japanese rice lager - 5.5% ABV) and Soul Fire Ultra Light (American Light Lager - 3.7 ABV / 15 IBU). Both decent enough for what they were, the latter being helped by the fact it was only $3 a pint. For food, tried the newly opened Zaep Zaep Thai joint. Had the Thai Basil Combo Fried Rice and an order of Spring Rolls. Seriously good stuff! Unexpected quality for a food court! The chef (owner?) also came into the bar to check to see if our food was to our liking. Definitely a nice touch and I wish him much success. Olivia's Scratch Kitchen serving African cuisine was the only other option open. Was a tough decision and hopefully will be back soon to try their offerings! There was also a cupcake place (Kid Kakes) that seems to get great reviews, but with Oak St Pie Company just a few doors down... well... sorry Kid Kakes! At only 20 years old, the bartender did a great job serving us and was more genuinely personable than many who have done the similar job for years. All-in-all a great impulse decision after The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ line ended up being far too long to wait in!
