My first time here and this is a city staple in Roanoke. Located in their original downtown, marked by historic markets, Babe's is easy to find. Parking in the back or valet to the side. Babe's offers four different entrees, and each arrives with salad and multiple sides. I ordered the chicken fried steak - wonderfully delicious. It came with the salad, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and fresh biscuits. Service was fantastic! Sophia explained the entrees with details and friendliness. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is decorated...it is decorated with....it is decorated with everything! Heavily rustic and western, including a big fish and historic photographs from over 100 years ago[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I read a sign that the only difference between Babe's and the Titanic was the band.

This is Babe's original location! After a club meeting, our group decided to come here for dinner. I called ahead to confirm they were able to accommodate us and the wait was very short. Once everyone arrived, we were given the rundown of how to order. I've only been to the Frisco location and they do things differently. There are really only 3 items on the menu: chicken, chicken fried steak, and tenders. They all come with unlimited biscuits, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy and salad. I had the fried chicken and now I remember why I love Babe's so much. It's not an everyday thing but this location tops all of the chicken shops I've been to in the entire state of Texas. I mean that it beats out all the popular ones: Mike's Chicken, Bush's, your local chicken shop, etc. I think we probably over ordered but that's okay because my leftovers were fantastic even overnight. I threw the leftovers in an air fryer the next morning and had Babe's for breakfast. Great way to start the day right. Service was amazing. We had Avery as our waitress and she did a fantastic job making sure our order came out right. Also there were several birthdays celebrated. They definitely put some flare to it so highly recommended for the evening ambiance. The entire staff was line dancing for a mid part of dinner to music. Parking was easily missed. There's a tiny sign going to their parking lot and a larger lot immediately behind the restaurant if you're okay walking. Roanoke goes to bed early as everybody cleared out at 9pm sharp. A keeper in my book.

Super Bowl carry out, although great carry out no matter the day....

Took a group of employees out to Babe's last night after work. It was SOOO good! Two of us showed up before the rest of the group (6 total) and were seated immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place did start to fill up after about 6:15 but we arrived about 5:50.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was fast and friendly, walked us thru the menu, there is no physical or QR menu since they only have a handful of options. 4 of us ordered the standard fried chicken (bone in, half bird) and two ordered the chicken strips. We got unlimited mashed potatoes, corn, and biscuits. I honestly don't even know where to start with the food.z the biscuits were flaky yet dense and paired very well with the sorghum syrup. Like a crispy pancake if that makes any sense! The potatoes were creamy and thick, the gravy was perfect for all the sides and the chicken. The chicken was the highlight though. If you're only offering a small menu, you better have it dialed in and Babe's sure does! The chicken was perfectly crisp but still moist somehow. With a little hot sauce and gravy, it's just about perfection! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool vibe inside and everybody seemed to be having a great time while dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect place to celebrate our neighborhood ' Friendsgiving' dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had about 27 of us there yesterday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fried chicken was flowing to our tables with other of us ordering chicken fried steak, smoked chicken, and chicken tenders. The sides were endlessly coming to our tables. Along with our dinner, we got some entertainment with the wait staff moving to 'Boot Scootin' Boogie'. Definitely we will return

Babe's quite possibly is the best fried chicken in Texas. Prove me wrong!! I believe this location is where the franchise began, so lucky me. Service was filled good 'ol Texas hospitality not found in a lot of places. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining room was decked out with all kinds of antiquesh decor making it feel nostalgic and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the chicken? Ay Marron! Perfectly fried to a dark golden brown, flaky but very juicy. Not one piece of that chicken was dried. And the sides? Wow! The mashed potatoes were very creamy, with hints of salt and pepper. The corn was fresh, crispy and flavorful. The gravy could be served as an appetizer with a spoon to eat it like soup, that's how good it was to me. And to top it off, that one lonely biscuit, sitting on a plate, soft, moist and ready to be munched on. I put it to work by scooping up that gravy like it was the fountain of youth. Babe's is pretty much all over DFW so if you find one don't hesitate heading over there for some top notch grub.

A local mini chain and staple of North Texas, Babes Chicken is a must stop for anyone that likes a real stick to your rib dinner. Served family style, where can you get bottomless sides and great fried chicken for less than $20 a person? Homemade biscuits, Local, honey, crisp salad, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, white gravy, and awesome fried chicken what you need to ask for! Also available is chicken fried steak in lieu of the fried chicken. Formally a BYOB, this is now a no alcohol restaurant, but Local colas and teas are available with your meal. Several locations in the area all have similar ambience, but the original boasts recycle furniture, signage, and all the trimmings. We stopped in on a playoff weekend, so we got seated immediately however you can't expect to wait during peak hours as reservations are not available and tables are first come, first served. A great place for family or group gatherings. Parking in the area can be a little tight so plan accordingly.

When there is only 2 options on the menu - the food is done to perfection every time! Chicken fried steak or fried chicken - bottomless biscuits (which are worth the trip by themselves!), mashed potato, creamed corn, gravy and lettuce salad. Service is fast, efficient and friendly Used to be a BYOB - not anymore . Doesn't really detract from the restaurant tho .

Hands down, best fried chicken ever. I visited the Babe's Roanoke location as I was in the area and man, I would go back here in a heartbeat. $20/pp, all you can eat salad, cream corn, mash, gravy biscuits, and a whole half chicken. You can't beat it. Chicken was crispy, seasoned and juicy. Sides were great. I felt right at home and it tasted just like how fried chicken tasted like when I was a kid. Place is cute and spacious with many large seatin options. Service was quick and efficient - they only got three things on the menu so no need for a physical menu! If I am back in the DFW area, I would go back here first!

The fried chicken is always juicy and has a good nice crisp to it. Their mashed potatoes and corn are both creamy and delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the way they serve family style.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Makes it a great place to have a nice family dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My "vegetable plate."

Seriously sucks! We had a whopping 3-item order to be placed for pickup. My husband gets home and an entire entree is missing. Mind you, this was a vegetable plate, can't get much easier than that. Why didn't the employee handling To Go orders QA the order before closing it up and sending it on the way. When we called, the manager couldn't even come to the phone and talk. When we asked why wasn't it checked before being handed over, we were told, " Well, there was a line out the door." Not sure how that affects my order that was already paid for!? They were so kind to credit back our money for the missing order (nice gesture). Maybe some better training all around is necessary. Attached, you will see a picture of my non-existent vegetable plate.

First visit: We each…read moregot the chicken fingers with potato salad and a piece of toast and regular size Dr. Pepper ... price for each, over $13. We think that's WAY too high for a fast food order, but it might be justifiable if the order was exceptional. The chicken fingers were skinny and dry looking; they were mostly tender but didn't have any real punch when it came to taste. They have nowhere near the tender, juicy flavor of Raising Canes chicken tenders. The little cup of potato salad was about 3 bites worth, yikes. Why on earth doesn't Layne's serve sides like coleslaw at least?? The toast was, well, toast, no real buttery flavor. The Dr. Pepper was fine but the regular is not a big cup. The dipping sauce was flavorful. The girl at the drive-thru window was less than welcoming, no greeting like: Hi! How are you today? And there was no: "I hope you enjoy your meal and come back to see us!". Is it so much to ask that the person at a window greet people with a big smile and an attitude that makes them WANT to come back again?? Overall, not the best first impression. Will we return? Yes, to give it another try. But if it's basically the same as the first visit, we'll continue to give Raising Canes our business when we want good chicken dinner take-out.

She led me back to the table with my friends and created some small talk on the way, so that was a nice change of pace, considering many people just point you on your way. We were seated near the back which seemed to be somewhat like an open kitchen feel, which I actually thought was pretty cool. Our waitress was very fast and helpful with picking out our foods based on our likes. Once the food came out, everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals, including myself. We started the table off with the biscuits and fried green tomatoes (demolished!). I kept it simple with the chicken and waffles (delicioius and crispy), which was a HUGE helping (yum!). Others at my table enjoyed the the shrimp and grits and WB chicken sandwich. No complaints heard from them! Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance, the food, the service, and the experience I had for my first time there. Would come back again for dinner to see if there is a difference.

Not the Zaxbys experience I've ever received, in fact. To start, no greeting whatsoever when you enter. That was ALWAYS a Zaxbys thing, to say hello at least. I ended up standing there at the counter for almost a minute with the cooks staring at me before anyone came to the register to take my order. I could tell drive thru has priority now because that is where all the employees were standing. My food was good, just the tenders seemed small! I ordered extra sauce and it was in the bag thankfully. But there's only one trash station in the whole dining area, none outside either. So if you're in need of throwing away your trash, it's on the drive thru door side. Lastly, the cashier taking orders wasn't giving customers their drinks. He was waiting until they received their food, but I politely asked if I could go ahead and get my drink cups since my kiddos had been looking forward to a sweet drink. I noticed quite a few upset customers who were standing around trying to get their drink cups while the cashier was at the drive thru window. Disappointing because I used to love zaxbys, but this location doesn't have the same staff as previous visits. Customer service kept me coming back and paying $10 for a Big Zak Snak, but I'm not so sure about it anymore. Raising Cane's will probably be my go-to since it is closer and has better customer service, even though I'd prefer Zaxbys sauces.
