I hate to say that I had to give this location and this location only a 3.5 star rating only because after eating it I was up in the bathroom multiple times. Whataburger or as we from East Texas call it "Waterburger" is my favorite burger joint of all time. Growing up this was the spot and a treat since even in the 90s they were more expensive than the other burger joints. Now that I live in DMV I cannot wait until I come back home to Texas to get me my burger fix. So this time was no different and I ordered my usual a burger meal with strawberry milkshake. This time I tried the Monterey melt burger that was limited time add lettuce and tomatoes. As usual the burger was so good the few bites I did take and the fries were hitting. Strawberry shake was good so wish they had malts would have been that much better. But about a few hours later I was running back to the bathroom...Smdh. I don't know what happened at this location, but it is from night and day for me. You walk in and Vera gave me the most beautiful smile and welcome I've ever had. Their adults working here and not just children. They are literally all serving with a smile and they are being proficient and efficient and excellent in everything they do. I have sat here for an hour just to watch and see if this is real or not. I'm very impressed. Good job.. Also, I learned something new about their meat. Their meat does not wait for 20 minutes like some restaurants before being used. Their meat is using immediately when it is ready to be cooked. This is probably why for many years I've never had a problem eating at Whataburger. Very strange because I can smell poison in a meat. Whether the chicken or beef, I can smell it even from a grocery store. This place for some reason it's consistent in their food and it is always excellent. Leah, the cashier, seemed new but was the best part of my experience. Leah was a little flustered but handled everyone with a smile a pleasant, no one else at this location was. Places order at 12:17, sat and waited. What food come out, saw people after me get their food. 12:37 went to counter to inquire. I was invisible, as staff walked by me without a glance or anything. Moved further into their walk way and finally a lady the 4th she moved near me asked what I needed. She took receipt to, what I believe was an unhappy supervisor, they looked and looked never said anything else to me. A few guests asked for lids and the staff was rude in getting lids. Most disgusting representation I've ever experienced at a whataburger. Today was my first time dining inside this Whataburger after using the drive-thru many, many times. The people here are friendly, accurate, and attentive. Today, they had two gals walking with the ketchup trays and offering help. My fries were bountiful, fresh, and hot. The gravy was super peppery, which I love, the Coke was mixed just right, and my burger was just so. A little cold, but that's probably because I was having good conversation. I never spent a lot of time at Whataburger growing up, but for some reason, I feel so much Texas pride sitting in one and dining with my fellow Texans. Feels like home. I am giving a four because they have forgotten ketchup before and gotten a thing or two wrong, but this Whataburger, along with the Jack-in-the-Box on the other side of Katy Mills, are our only 24-hour options! Those of my friends who have lived in the Houston area long enough might remember Marvin Zindler's Food and Restaurant Report and how he despised "slime in the ice machine!" Well, as someone who previously worked in restaurant management, I can tell you "slime" can develop in other areas if not cleaned often and properly. Sadly, this was proven to me on March 25th when this slimy and goopy tea sediment made its way from Whataburger's tea dispenser or nozzle into our drink. This is what happens when the dispensers that hold a restaurant's tea and its serving nozzles are not cleaned on a daily basis. The tea sediment builds up and you get slime in the tea machine. Sadly, the Whataburger at 25635 Katy Fwy. in Katy does not practice good restaurant sanitation practices. I would highly recommend that my friends find another restaurant to satisfy your burger desires because Whataburger does not seem to care and believes a simple apology will suffice. This is our 4th screwed up order at this location, and our last. We will be going to another location from now on. My wife is VERY lactose intolerant and we specified no cheese on her burger. Got home and there is cheese on it, while our receipt clearly shows "NO CHEESE" The order was placed 5 minutes before we arrived and still it took 10 minutes of waiting AFTER our stated curbside time window. Our requested sauces were more and less and not some we even requested?! This was during dinner service?! I did try to upload pictures of our reciept and the cheese on the burger...NOPE! Your app wont let me?? Whataburger used to be the best burger place in Texas. In our recent experiences In-N-Out is absolutely kill'n you all in reliability, quality and service. It was late, we got there almost 10:00 and ordered. 30 minutes later I finally had enough and asked for my money back. The employee was understanding and asked for a manager. I walk into the restaurant to place an order and there is a very upset gentleman demanding loudly that he deserves an apology. At first, all I see and hear is him until he explains how much he hated being called the "N" word. This was done by a loud mouthed rude employee. After being told by the gentleman to "learn to shut his mouth"...the employee challenges him to come outside where it does start to escalate a bit more. Another employee tries to join at this point. I can say the manager steps in and sends those causing the issue home. It settles after that but I can't help but feel dislike to an establishment that employees so much hate to yell at customers. The manager should have had this situation calmed so much earlier than allowing it to spill outside. read more

I was in Texas for the week and prior coming here, my coworkers from Austin, TX told me that Whataburger was the best thing on the planet and that it beat In'N'Out. That's quite a bold statement because those of us from California can really take pride that In'N'Out really is 100% fresh. Regardless, I went to Whataburger completely open-minded...but nope. It was just very disappointing. They do have a lot of choices on the menu - from burgers to biscuits to tacos to chicken strips. I thought I couldn't go wrong with the regular whataburger so I got just that. Although portions were generous, I wasn't surprised nor pleased. Patty was plain, barely any lettuce and tomatoes. Onions come chopped so it was falling out of my burger... Food tasted meh and actually reminded me of McDonald's. Nothing tasted fresh, fries were oily, salty, and burnt. I only spent $7 for a meal so I am not complaining, but if I am ever in Texas again, I surely will not be back. read more
