Grande chicken avocado bowl
Toshia H.

The grilled chicken is flavorful and juicy. The ingredients were fresh and I was highly impressed.

Beef grillers, 2 piece leg & thigh meal & original pollo bowl

Placed an order to go and it was packaged perfectly! The chicken is even better than I can remember. I will definitely be back soon.

No so yummy chicken jerky!

I had to order my food came through Postmates. My first order never came. I got someone else's order. The food was dry and not the best. I sent them another order which was part of my first order which was a tostada and it came and the chicken was burnt. The beans were so spicy. I cannot eat them. The only thing worth eating was the tortillas, I don't know what is wrong with these people. Why is everything spicy????????

I have a friend that lives in New Orleans that absolutely loves El Pollo Loco. He would probably eat there every day if he could. He did visit me last year and he got to experience it again and its still talking about it! The one thing that I like about them is that their chicken is fire grilled. This is better for you then fried chicken. This time I got one of their Tostada Salads. It was filled with fire- grilled chicken, pinto beans, rice, shredded cheese, pico de gallo salsa, avocado, and cool sour cream in a golden brown tostada shell. It was a lot to eat but I persevered, lol. One of my co workers got one of their rice bowls. He said it was very good. They deserve to have more visits. The next time I will try their fire grilled chicken. I'm told it's very juicy.

Chicken nachos - needed a bit more chicken
Sonja R.

I tried it for the 1st time because I continued to see it in my feed on Facebook. I was craving nachos and you can't beat the $5 price for nachos and a drink. I went inside because I wanted to see what it looked like and how my food would be prepared. Well I couldn't really see the preparation from where Ivstood at the counter. But it didn't take long at all. The nachos come with chicken, sour cream, guacamole, and queso. I assume the salsas are normally out but with Covid, understandably they are not, so I had to ask for it. I was given the red (he said it was pico if I am not mistaken) and green salsa. The green was my favorite, had a Lil kick but not overwhelming at all (I would describe it as mild because I am a spice lover). I did not like the red so I would request only green next time. I live about 20 or so minutes away so I was ready to eat once I got back home. The chips were a bit soft which I think may have been due to the drive home but it didn't take away from the taste. I definitely wished that there had been more chicken and a few pieces were charred, which didn't taste well when you aren't expecting it when chewing. Overall, I really liked the nachos so much so I considered going back for dinner. I took off one star because there could have been a bit more chicken in my opinion. However, you can't beat a decent enough tasting meal with a drink for $5.41 (tax included). I would definitely go again and I want to try more of the combos.

Chicken avocado taco with wax paper inside

So my husband and I went through the drive thru on Friday and we placed our order and we were asked to drive around and park to wait for our food. We waited for about 10-15 mins, the same cashier at the window brought out the food. We got to the house and when my husband opened his taco it had a big piece of wax paper in it that was pretty hard to miss. It was so disgusting, we were already far from the place so it was too late to take it back. Not returning.

My West Coast friends always drag me to this place when we visit Las Vegas together. When I was informed that they were opening a branch in Katy, I was please to say the least. I always enjoyed the Vegas chain, so was definitely expecting nothing short of that same enjoyment in Katy. Just a casual glance over the menu I was pleased with two aspects - variety and pricing. I think that them actually having a $5 combo meal on the menu was a good touch. If you know you are coming here, make sure to sign up for "My Loco Rewards" to get free chips and guacamole. It is truly free...no purchase necessary, which is another plus for the frugal at heart. Of course I am going to use my freebie and add it to a good priced combo deal. 3 $5 combo deals to choose from and I opted for the "Pollo Bowl." Every combo comes with either tortilla or chips, and a drink. This bowl has the chicken breast, as they often claim - "...fire-grilled to perfection, then chopped and joined with a mouthwatering combination of pinto beans, rice, diced onions, fresh cilantro and pico de gallo salsa." I must admit, I was actually pleased with the flavor and amount of food given for the price. I knew I had to allow my kids to experience the brand before I actually rated the place. This time I ordered "3 Course Family Meal with New Bacon Avocado Salad." This came with 8 pieces of chicken, 2 large sides, tortillas, bacon avocado salad and 4 churros. I opted for the mash potatoes and macaroni and cheese for the sides. Got to the window and they let me know that they didn't have macaroni and cheese and I had to opt for another side...broccoli was chosen...bleh! Get home, salad did not have a dressing, they forgot to put in the salsa that they asked me if I wanted to go with my meal, and the 4 churros were actually 2 brownies...fail! I have a child with nut allergies...so I can't give her that without knowing anything about preparation. Time to make one kid feel better than the next! I want to give the place 2 stars because of this...but my kids enjoyed everything! They REALLY ENJOYED THE CHICKEN (Insert stereotype here)! They asked to finish off the mash potatoes and gravy. They did not even look at the broccoli. They just talked about how good everything was. Darn you El Pollo Loco making my kids smile! You get 4 stars, but get your act together. The first drive thru experience went through without a hitch, so they just probably had a bad day. They truly deserve 5 stars for being a place where you can go for fast food speed, but also feed yourself and your family with a mixture of health and taste. There are many healthy and tasty options on the menu. This fire grilled chicken has flavor!

Chicken Avocado Burrito, chips, salsa, pico, churros and a drink
Prithi D.

Went here for their soft opening and all four of us were able to get vouchers for a meal up to $10.00. Service was very friendly, fast and attentive. The menu is very big. Our group had the chicken avocado burrito, double chicken burrito and the chicken, bacon & guac quesadilla. The burritos were good, perfect size and I like how they put the calorie count next to each item. You can customize any item so would probably get black beans instead of pinto next time. The bag of chips they give with the meal is very small but in reality is probably all you should be eating anyway. The pico and salsa bar is a nice touch. Their pico was absolutely delicious. The quesadilla is wrapped up so it is a very good item to get to go. The food was very fresh. We also ordered churros and chocolate chip brownies. They were good as well. I will go back as there are several items on their under 500 calories menu that I would like to try - mango grilled tostada, grilled chicken & kale salad and chicken & shrimp grilled tostada - all priced a little over $6. They have a drive-thru. For fast food, the freshness of the food and the pico is what will bring me back!

Order up!

A California favorite makes it way to Texas, ah HAaaa! When I lived in LA I ate El Pollo Loco 2-5 times a week. It is fresh grilled chicken with tortillas and salsa. Emmm. They have a drive trough so this is a great meal to pick up when your about to have a TV party or just want to eat at your own table. The chicken deserves 4.5 stars for the genre, but the tortilla and salsa are flavorless and get 2.0 stars. Therefore the rating is 3 point something. I give it a four for sentimental value. Oh and I eat here still 2-4 times a month still! The location in Katy is unfortunate because it's on Mason Road. I will do almost anything to not drive on Mason Road. There is an evil spirit or something under that road that clouds drivers good behavior. Even folks who go to church try to cut me off. Still the food at this and a couple of other restaurants on Mason force me to brave that avenue ... oh but I digress. Try the half chicken with Mac and cheese. If you're wondering about calories? Go to the gym for 2 hours. You need to eat.

Tasty Pollo Bowl.

Healthy Mexican food. Tasty barbecue chicken. We arrived based on the review from Alexander W. The first thing you notice when you walk in the door is the rows of butterflied chickens cooking on a huge grill. EPL has many different dishes listed, most are chicken-based. Calories are listed on the menu. My daughter tried a 2-piece chicken meal, my wife tried the grilled chicken salad, and I had the regular Pollo Bowl. I was given the choice of tortilla chips or tortillas with my meal and I decided to go with the corn tortillas. They were good. The Pollo Bowl was tasty, but consisted mostly of rice and pinto beans. Note that there are double meat and ultimate bowl options for bigger appetites. I did prefer the EPL chicken bowl over the bowl offered at Taco Cabana...the chicken tastes better and I believe TC uses refried beans in their bowl. I tried some of my daughter's chicken. The thigh meat was juicy and tasty. Good blend of lime juice and spices. Overall, a great fast food meal at a good price. We will return.

It's finally here from California Yayyyy it's so chicken fresh

"DAMAGE CONTROL" On…read moreyesterday, I placed an order through Doordash and requested no bread but called and asked if I could substitute for more pickles. The cashier asked the manager and she was willing to accommodate me. That was nice of her because she could have said no. My order consisted of a tenders basket (Nashville HOt) and large kale salad. It arrived via door dash excellent delivery and kind driver. I opened my food and the SPICY SMELL was literally unbearable. I then started thinking maybe I am being sensitive. I cut a piece and tried to eat it and almost choked from the pepper. REMEMBER I am originally from NOLA so SPICY Is my forte. I immediately called the store and was asked if I wanted to come in or get a refund. I requested a refund than the cashier says " I don't know if we can do that so let me check. I waited a few minutes, then I continued to wait , then I hear staff laughing in background, then someone says "ISN'T THAT WHAT SHE ORDERED" at this moment I became frustrated. I had been busy all morning and needed to sleep for work that night. I headed to the store and you would not believe once I arrived at the store, the cashier was helping customers, and the PHONE WAS OFF THE HOOK by an unoccupied cash register. I immediately requested the manager in a calm tone. The manager VERENICE arrived at the front counter and greeted me. I was so furious so the first thing I did was show her my phone and the phone off of the hook. I was on HOLD for 24 minutes see picture below. She proceeded to apologize and attempted to explain they the call was missed. I further explained that DOOR DASH prices are higher so offering a person to come in the store is not the bet alternative. I ordered DOOR DASH for a reason and it is a huge inconvenience when I have to arrive in store to correct a worker's mistake. SHe understood exactly how I felt and offered a solution. I also requested for her to smell how hot it was as well. She proceeded to tell me they are using a new seasoning and she believes the person put too much. My rebuttal was you have to be more careful in preparing food like that for a customer knowing there is a difference. I know you may be confused at why would I still give them 4 stars because as the MANAGER she listened to constructive criticism, offered a solution and made sure I was satisfied. I believe it is very important as a REVIEWER to be honest and fair while also telling the truth along with offering a the solution. Whomever is the owner of this franchise I am sure you may be disappointed with the "24 minute hold time" but you should be more proud of having a manager in place who does damage control and encourages the customer to return for a better experience as well as fix the food again.

The restaurant was completely empty besides us and it doesn't feel very Korean anymore. Service was quite minimal but it was fine for a sit down meal. Now with more Korean options in town than when Hoodadak first opened, the flavors here doesn't quite stand out amongst the crowd anymore.

Getting to the location was quite easy, parking was super easy as well, it is in a small shopping center. As I went inside, I could smell the food, and I knew it was going to be good. I was greeted by a younger guy who handed me the menu, but fortunately, I already knew what I wanted! Which was one of everything! But, I was solo on this day, so I had to have some restraint! I chose to go with the catfish basket, with 2 filets, fries (cajun), a side of mac and cheese, and a side of their specialty sauce that comes with crawfish! I had an appointment I was going to next, and I didn't think about how long it would take, but fortunately, it didn't take long at all. They drop the food to cook after you order, which I love!!! The catfish and fries were piping hot when they came out. Seasoned just perfectly for my taste! I'm glad I went with the two, so that I could take the other one home for later!!! I don't know how they season the fish, but keep doing what you're doing! I got the mac and cheese, it looked super good. It was cheesy and had the cheese pull that we all know and love. It wasn't my most favorite dish, it was missing a little something. BUT!!! When I added the side sauce with the crawfish in it, it became my favorite! Something about that combo just works! I believe it's the sauce they use in one of their pastas, but don't quote me on that! The sauce I used as a dip for everything, fries, mac and catfish. It is worth getting! All in all, loved everything about this place. It reminds me a little of some of the places I used to go to growing up in Memphis.
