This location is around the corner from my job, so I decided to check it out for lunch. I love me some hot, fresh, and flavorful Rotisserie Chicken. This wasn't it. Upon seeing the first appearance of the Chicken in the container, I asked was it a half Chicken because it was so small. I just knew that they made a mistake. I ordered Mexican Rice and Cassava as the sides. The chicken was not fresh nor hot. It was so dry that I couldn't eat the wing part of it because it was dried out. It didn't taste like Rotisserie either. There was no flavor. It tasted oven baked and broiled. The rice was dry with no veggies in it. I counted about 5 or 6 peas and 2 carrots. The Cassava should have been cooked longer. I definitely didn't enjoy this lunch. I ate enough to fulfill my hunger and that's it. This was my first and last visit. read more

Chicken and overall food is great. I had the Bravo combo which has he option of 1/2 chicken and two sides or 1/4 chicken and two sides. I should have stuck with the 1/4 chicken because the sides are filling! The sides I chose were Mexican rice and avocado salad. The Mexican rice consists of corn, onions, Mexican spices and a coconut milk base for flavor. It was cooked just right. The avocado salad was mediocre. They had their own house blend dressing, but it was drizzled on sparingly and lacked flavor. It needed salt and pepper. The chicken was cooked great. It was cooked like rotisserie chicken and fell of the bones. Flavor was delicious. Reasons why I'm knocking off three stars: cleanliness of dining was in a poor state. The salt shaker was completely filthy and no salt was able to come out of the shaker. Tables had a sticky residue. Photo included. Service: HORRIBLE. Like unbelievably bad. The hostess/server didn't greet us, sat us or provided us with menus. Seriously?! Why? We stood at the door for 2-3 minutes waiting for her to even acknowledge us--that never happened. Customer service 101. We grabbed the to-go menus and sat ourselves down. She didn't even ask us what we wanted to drink. First thing out of her mouth was: "are you ready?" Really sad. I had to ask her for water to drink after we gave her our order. I wish the food was horrible to match the service so I can give them a flat 1 star! Pretty good stuff! Service is a little awkward and kind of ignored my friend and me, but otherwise, it was an enjoyable meal. I had the 1/4 rotisserie chicken with the avocado salad and fried sweet plantains for about $8 + tip. The rotisserie chicken was your standard rotisserie chicken, which was good. We had to ask for the spicy green sauce on the side (wanted to spruce things up a bit). Then we had to ask again because they only put 1/4" of it in a small cup for the two of us. It was nice and spicy and complemented the chicken and plantains. The salad was aight...my favorite part was the avocados--the lettuce, dressing, etc were just okay. Probably wouldn't order it again. The plantains were great; they tasted identical to El Rey's. My friend's spicy fries were standard crinkle fries with a dusting of seasoned salt...heavy on the salt, but still tasty! I like their chicken, their shrimp pasta, their spinach chicken pasta, their fries, their salad with avocado, their sweet plantains... The service is friendly and personal. Their prices are fair. The food is good, the service is not, and some things need better upkeep. I had the chilaquiles verdes, which I enjoyed. It's got somewhat of a kick to it, so I only recommend it for those who like a little spiciness. It's served with beans, which in my opinion were the best thing in the plate - absolutely delicious. The 1/4 chicken that came with the dish was tasty but in my case overcooked. My wife's chicken was juicier, and she also got the Mexican rice, which is pretty good. The food alone would probably get 4 stars, but the service would get 2, so I split the difference and gave this place 3. The hostess/server paid no attention to me and my wife for the first 2 minutes that we stood by the door. Finally we seated ourselves and grabbed to-go menus and she came over to order. She was a bit unfriendly in general. But a few minutes later when some customers came in who spoke Spanish they were greeted warmly and seated immediately. As an example of things needing some attention, the salt shaker's holes were completely blocked with a mixture of salt and some kind of residue. Entirely unusable. I wish the service and attention to detail here was at the same level as the food - and that all customers were treated equally. You can look at the other review I did for this restaurant at a different location. The lunch special is ridiculous. $6.95 for a 1/4 chicken and two sides. I got the spicy french fries and white rice. Its tasty as hell. On top of everything, make sure you ask for the green spicy sauce. That sauce is ridiculously amazing. Leave paying $7.50, and STUFFED. Was looking for a different place to have a quick lunch and saw the sign outside. Ordered the 1/2 chicken with 2 sides. (Avocado salad and mexican rice). The chicken is cooked peruvian style. The meal was served in a square stylish plate that made a fancier impression. They don't have a soda fountain so soda arrived in a cold can served with a side glass with ice cubes. The salad is delicious and the rice is ok. Chicken was cooked different but good none the less. I was really impressed and will come back again. First time for me to try Peruvian, I'll say it was a good meal. The dishes are on a pricey side compared to neighbor restaurants. I feel portioning sides creates stand off atmosphere with the customers. Other than that, Peruvian music to bring out the flavor of the place. I wish I could give negative stars. After sitting down and placing our order (less than 5 minutes). The waitress returns about 5 minutes after that and says they ran out of chicken. She also said that they had enough when we came in but orders came in and ran out (the place was empty). We usually come about once a month and hope this is a one time occurence. This place is usually pretty decent but I doubt we will come back for a while. The waitress could have been a little more sympathetic she could care less if we left, I think I even saw a smirk as we got up to leave. Management we have to do better! read more

Tiny place, single server kind of spot. But they have been very friendly to us, if not super attentive. The roasted chicken is dyno-mite. Cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. There is a spicy green sauce that you can add to it- go for it! Don't be scared, the flavor is truly delightful. Plantains and a simple green salad with fresh sliced avocados and a lovely house vinaigrette make this an easy nights worth of good eats. I could have stood for a bit more dressing, actually. My husband is a big fan of the french fries and hot dogs, which seems silly to me, but it is certainly a family pleaser, so who am I to argue? And do not forget the sweets. The pionono is a caramel cake rolled up in a lovely presentation. I avoided it, because I am not caramel's biggest fan. That honor belongs to my husband who would not shut up about the damn thing until I tried it, and I am not ashamed to say he was totally correct on this one. I would order it again. But if you are woefully unconvinced by it, then I must point out that you would be doing yourself a disservice if you do not try one of the Alfajores (powdered sugar cookies) they might seriously make you cry with joy. I used to love this location, but the last two times I go in at 8:15-8:20 they tell us that they can't serve us that they only do take out orders. Your hours are until 9 p.m. and I have worked in the food industry before and you serve whoever comes until your closing time because THAT IS YOUR CLOSING TIME! I'm not the type of person to sit there and make people wait for me hours after their close out and I understand people want to go home, but don't start closing at 7:30 p.m. when you close at 9! They served me cold rotisserie chicken, a shipload of rice and " fried plantains" (they were bananas). No free refills on the their pineapple drink, which was actually the best thing I had. We have used yelp religiously every single time we want to try new restaurant. I have never felt so compelled to write a review. First, their menu is ALL Mexican food and very limited. The only item that could be Peruvian is lomo Saltado. We ordered the chicken dinner that comes with salad and fried and the appetizer taquitos. Everything arrived on our table in three minutes of ordering. The chicken tasted like Costco rottisse only without any taste and was very dry. It looked more like a baby hen than chicken. The salad was iceberg lettuce with thin tomatoe and avocado slices equivalent of a half of a very small avocado with tasteless Italian dressing. The fries are frozen packaged with WEIRD few pieces of hot dog on top. The taquitos tasted like grindered down dog meat.So gross. We left so hungry that I made my family food when we got home. We spent 40 bucks and left hungry and disgusted. we like to take in humor however. Worst customer services at this location. I have been a customer of Pollo Bravo for over 6 yrs usually I go to the Richmond location due to lack of manners and customer services at this location. It is sad that one location can ruin a whole business. I tried to contact the Owner and/or Manager through the restaurant website utilizing the contact option and it does not even work. Pollo Bravo in Houston is the place to go for authentic Peruvian rotisserie chicken. It's delicious and it comes with the yummy spicy huacatay sauce to dip the chicken in. They also have several dishes that are traditional Peruvian like their ceviche, lucuma ice cream, and the Aguadito soup among other eats and don't forget the Inca Kola soda or Chica drink. Peruvian food is not to be confused with Mexican at all since Peruvian food is from South American and has Japanese, Chinese and Spanish influences. So a taco is not Peruvian. Although service is a bit slow it's worth the wait to treat your palate or else call and order out. I do at least once a week when I'm too tired to cook dinner. Their prices are reasonable and you can feed a family of four for under $25. I give Pollo Bravo a Very good review - I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
