When the food is as tasty as the customer service is friendly, it's hard not to love all they to offer. The shop is so small that seating is non-existent, (#3) thus it's strictly a takeout and delivery establishment. Their display case of hot foods changes throughout the day, depending on availability. Anything after the late afternoon is a huge gamble, so when in doubt, call ahead of time to confirm whether an item is available. I love to pop in just to get a good visual of my choices -- and I've always managed to walk out with something delicious. Of all the items I've tried, there have been standouts across the board. The oxtail, stewed chicken with gravy, smothered rib tips, meat loaf, and their über famous honey glazed wings and meatballs are fabulous. Their sides of dressing, sweet candied yams, mac and cheese, and fried green tomatoes make for a perfectly complete meal. Even the cornbread is outstanding, which is really saying something. I'd be remiss not to mention their incredibly underrated desserts. The peach cobbler is fire, pound cake and banana pudding are excellent, and their triple layered German-chocolate cake floored me. It was decadent, a tinge savory, and extremely addicting. The fact they offer catering for every item mentioned above means my future potlucks are going to be next level. When they're ready to open another location in a different part of town, I can only hope it'll be closer to me. The food didn't help at all the shrimp was extremely overcooked & dry and the sauce was just oily and completely bland. Even my water tasted off, it was sweet, like the cups hadn't been properly cleaned, which was honestly concerning. Overall, this place is poorly run and clearly not equipped to handle even basic service. Between the long wait, lack of communication, nonexistent accountability, questionable cleanliness, and low-quality food, it was a complete waste of time. But then our service went downhill. Our waitress forgot a 5 lb crawfish order as well as another person's meal combo. On top of that she gave only one person half their order. Each time we asked for an update, we were told "5 minutes," yet we watched tables who arrived after us receive their food first. After waiting over an hour--while most of our table had already finished eating--the waitress stopped checking on us altogether. We eventually had to track down a manager/owner ourselves to address the issue. Instead of resolving it properly, we were offered a free beer and told our meal would be comped, but the final receipt still charged us in full. At that point, the damage had already been done and could have been handled much earlier. To make matters worse, the crawfish itself was gritty, and the bottom of the bowl appeared dirty, as if it hadn't been properly cleaned before cooking. Overall, the service and food quality were both very disappointing. We will not be returning. I highly recommend checking your receipts before paying out because the manager or owner was reassuring us she would remove some items and did not.
