After losing every last dollar I had at WinStar World Casino -- and I mean every. single. dollar -- all I wanted, all I needed, was the warm embrace of a good ole Whataburger. No fancy meal, no five-star consolation prize. Just a thick, juicy burger and some crispy fries to remind me that life still has something to offer. Something to hold onto. A reason to keep going. I drove through the night, broken but hopeful, clinging to that orange-and-white beacon of salvation like a man lost at sea clinging to a life raft. The golden arches couldn't save me. Sonic wasn't going to cut it. Dairy Queen? Don't insult me. Only Whataburger -- open 24 hours, 7 days a week, a promise carved in stone and written in the hearts of Texans everywhere -- could fill the void that the Evil Black Jack Dealer left behind. That man looked me dead in the eyes and busted me on a 19. A 19! And he didn't even flinch. But I forgave him. Because I had Whataburger to look forward to. I could already taste it. The perfectly toasted five-inch bun. The mustard. The big, bold beef patty that slaps you back to life and says "hey, it's going to be okay, buddy." I had already mentally ordered the Whataburger #1 with cheese, large fries, and a sweet tea so sweet it could heal emotional wounds. This was my plan. This was my salvation. And what do I find when I walk up to that counter? A shift lead -- cool as a cucumber, completely unbothered by my suffering, not a care in the world -- telling me that THIS Whataburger, THIS supposed 24/7 establishment, is closing for the night. I'm sorry... CLOSING? For the NIGHT? At a 24/7 Whataburger?? I stood there in the parking lot for a moment, just a man alone under the vast Texas sky, the neon sign flickering above me like even it was ashamed of what just happened. I had driven past perfectly good gas station food for THIS. I lost my money at the casino. I kept my faith in Whataburger and God. And somehow, someway, I still ended up with nothing -- except for God, who at this point is doing a lot of heavy lifting. This is not the Texas I was raised to believe in. And let me say this for the record: I believe this Whataburger is a FRAUD. A phony. A wolf in orange-and-white clothing. Because every tried, tested, and true Whataburger -- every REAL Whataburger, built on tradition and the tears of winners and losers alike -- is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, specifically for people like me. The losers. The broken. The ones who just need a burger at 2am and ask no further questions. We deserve better. I deserve better. And frankly, so does Texas. read more

Sooo I really wanted to like Whataburger since I heard so much about them. I'm from Maryland and we don't have one of those here. I played it safe by ordering a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and Mayo. My burger had tomato and mustard on it and no bacon and my cheese wasn't melted. I already left the restaurant so it was too late to take my burger back. Unfortunately the taste of the burger itself just wasn't good. #05/2023 Located in Gainesville Texas at the very busy junction of interstate 35 and US 82 sits and splits the parking lot with Chick-fil-A. This is a very clean Whataburger I was very impressed by how clean it was the employees were very cordial when I walked in. I ordered myself a because they were out of tomatoes until the truck came in I went with a double meat Whataburger and I added bacon cheese light mustard and the honey barbecue sauce. I should have got a single because boy that damn thing was huge. I got the fries with no salt and had a Coke Zero. Quality of food was fantastic at this location I've been to a few whataburgers in the past and kind of MEH. This one is 24 hours fully staffed dining room open 24/7 also 365. Like most of the other whataburgers they do have breakfast available from till 11:00 pm to 11am All in all a very clean very delicious one and I will definitely come back to this one if I'm near Gainesville by the QuikTrip and want some Whataburger. Four stars to start definitely above average. Contrary some of the reviews sometimes staffing does cause for slower service I didn't observe that but reading some of these reviews some of these older ones I didn't have any trouble at all so my reviews that reflect my experience not the General public. read more

We're heading back to OKC but the roads are so icy, we're getting a hotel in Gainesville for the night. All I need is a decent meal to feed my family before we crash at the comfort inn. Fortunately, there are three fast food restaurants across the road. Surely, one of these fine dining establishments will be able to serve us. Chick-fil-A? Nope, they've turned tail and run home early. Closed at 7 pm. Panda Express? The lights are on but no one is home. Who can save us from our misery and hunger? Whataburger! The girl at the window repeated our order back to us when she handed us the food it would have been nice if she would have put our gravy in the bag. So no gravy, cold fries , burger was wrong. I ordered breakfast for the entire crew. The online order process is easy and convenient. I specified a pickup time and the order was ready when arrived. The crew member even cheerfully walked it out to my car. I didn't get inside the building on this trip but the ambiance is always a notch above similar establishments. I ate here from my way back to Dallas from Winstar. After I finished my meal I went back to refill my tea I was able to see through a small opening into the kitchen. They guy who preps the burger and places them into the bag had several burgers in on the counter with no wrapping or anything under them. I asked for the manager who now I know is named Heather, and I heard her say what do they need and proceeded to do whatever she was doing. Another manager who is an older man tended to me , I told him that it was very unappetizing to see the burgers on the counter and it was more than likely a health violation. All he said was "OK". As an avid Whataburger fan, this is not a very great location due to its randomness in quality. One day it's perfect, but the next it's lacking. One thing I have started to notice is that the food is *usually* not very hot here. It's not cold or undercooked, but it's not warm to the touch like it should be. Still, I think the food is good. It just could be better. When it is correct, it's usually pretty good, and tastes the same as any other Whataburger due to being a chain location (this is a pro). Whataburger burgers are usually flat but very wide, almost like Burger King. The fries are like no other, very thin and floppy but great tasting. They've also got their signature "Spicy Ketchup" you should try. Speaking of Burger King, there's one across the highway from here if you prefer that. Chic-Fil-A and Panda Express are also in the same lot as this Whataburger. Anyways, this location has really clean bathrooms and overall helpful service (most of the time at least). Let's be real, it's no secret that Whataburger as a franchise is the slowest fast food chain in the world. They're painfully slow. I start to believe they pride themselves on being slow and I honestly don't eat at Whataburger for that reason. And they usually get my order wrong. But, my mom wanted to stop here so at 1:00am on 11/20/2020 we went through the drive thru. The guy who took my order (Andrew C on the receipt) was so incredibly nice, the guy who took my payment was nice, the 2 guys who brought my food were so nice. They were respectful, FAST and nice. The overnight staff is very rude. We've been traveling for 8 hrs after packing our truck and trailer this afternoon. We wanted our favorite Whataburger. What we got was sub-par food and bad attitudes. The woman who took our order was rude and didn't pay attention to our order. This is normally a very clean and efficient running business. The food is normally good and properly made. My main issue is the counter personnel. My last visit we stood at the cash registers for over 5 minutes without anyone taking our order. Customers behind me walked out and left.
