For me, no need to sell me on the concept of trying something new. Either it will taste good, or it will not. I found myself in Gainesville. I didn't even know Texas had a Gainesville. I thought that was a Florida thing, but here I am looking around this city (hearing the Bugs Bunny clip where he states he took a wrong turn in Albuquerque). I saw Braum's, and immediately made my lunch plans. The building has a word that interests me - market! I knew it would have hamburgers. I knew it would have ice cream. I didn't know what to expect when they had market on their building. I walk inside to smiling faces and am greeted. I guess me taking so many pictures gave me serious tourist vibes... I see many coolers/refrigerated units inside. I see bagged salad mixes, bread, milk, their name ice creams, deli meat, etc. This is a place you can shop if you enjoy small market setups. Their is an employee dedicated to getting the market shoppers out as quickly as possible. The food...I was surprised at how rich the shake was. I was surprised that the A2 cow meat produce was different tasting...it tasted like real beef. The Braum's sauce was tasty. The seasoning on the fries was tasty. Everything was tasty. I used the shake for the meal, and a chocolate vanilla yogurt twist for dessert. I needed an after dessert snack, so I ordered a 2 scoop, pistachio almond and pecan praline ice cream cone (don't judge me! Fat is what fat does!). It was delicious. Unlimited soda refills that are Coca-Cola products. Braum's get 1 star taken away because they do not have a frequent eater program or an app. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience. They really did earn the fourth star by having black walnut ice cream. That's a seasonal eating, and I was told they keep black walnut around often.

But there is a fun playground set up by the calves which meant we got first dibs on the hay slide! The calves knew visitors meant feeding time and were licking us, just waiting for that wonderful milk bottle to be given to them. Our guide was amazing, taking time to answer every one of our questions thoroughly. She showed us the stalls where the dairy cows feed, relax and stay cool, the water washout that cleans the stalls, the milking stations, and even let us practice our milking skills on a model cow. She explained that the cows are milked every 12 hours so our tour not only fell outside of their normal schedule, but they wouldn't be comfortable having strangers milk them. Which is why we practiced on a model, still very cool. Totally understandable, we want the cows to continue producing their delicious milk for all to enjoy! We learned that raw milk, not pasteurized, is actually better since the vitamins and nature's goodness haven't been heated out. After tasting the raw milk, it tastes SO delicious. They aren't selling commercially anymore and can only sell straight from their farm, so if you happen to want fresh milk, ice cream or other locally made farm foods, visit their store on site! Be sure to bring cash or Venmo. My family enjoyed today's tour and recommend everyone support our local dairy farmers at Circle N Dairy :)

Circle N is a small family owned and operated raw milk dairy. Because Texas prohibits the sale of…read moreraw milk in stores, Circle N exclusively sells their milk and milk products at their on-site shop. There you can purchase raw milk by the pint or gallon (they have chocolate and strawberry too!), as well as dairy like cheese, cream, yogurt, sour cream and ice cream. The store also sells items from other local vendors: things like honey, sausage, and nuts. The milk is fresh, delicious, and very reasonably priced ($5.00 a gallon for white). Coming from California, where stores do sell raw milk but it's like $14 a gallon, I was shocked at the price Circle N was able to offer theirs. I wish we lived closer so I could make it part of my regular weekly shopping! The main attraction for us was the dairy tour, which is offered for $7 a person (under 2 is free). There is no set schedule for tours so you need to contact the dairy in advance to schedule one. The tour was incredibly informative and so much fun! We got to see where they milk the cows and how they flush out the barns. We learned about the silo, how they feed and care for the cows, and even got to give the calves a bottle! The tour ended with a half pint sample of the raw milk (a much more generous portion than I expected!). The only thing I wish we could have seen is a cow actually being milked. I had been on another dairy tour previously where we had the chance to see the mechanical milking and it was really neat, but this was at a much larger dairy, where the milking happened almost constantly throughout the day. At Circle N, the milking only happens twice a day (2:30a and 2:30p), so it makes sense that we weren't able to see it happening. Michelle, the owner and tour guide, was wonderful. She made us feel very welcome and was patient to answer all our questions. We packed a lunch and ate it at the covered picnic tables they leave open to the public. This is an outstanding destination for a homeschool coop, or even just a fun activity for the family. Cash or check only. Bring a cooler - you'll want to take home some of this milk!

The floor was clean as were all of the tables, looking like there are some people who care here. The young man at the counter took my order, assured me it wouldn't take long and before the receipt had printed, another clerk had handed me the custard with a lid and spoon. Fabulous. Mrs. K. really likes frozen custard and has a hierarchy of favorites. Freddy's is right up there near the top and their consistency is one reason why. This is light, firm and has a great chocolate flavor to it. It sticks to the spoon and doesn't melt quickly. Delicious and it doesn't need mix-ins as a substitute for low quality. This is the good stuff! [Review 415 of 2026 - 724 in Texas - 25598 overall]

After four separate visits, it's clear this is the slowest drive-in I've experienced in Texas. Every trip has been the same story -- long waits, missing items, and a general lack of urgency. And to make matters worse, not once out of those four visits was our order correct. Not once. This last visit summed it up perfectly. We waited, we checked the order, and still drove off missing part of it. The result? A very upset kid and a very long drive home. I understand mistakes happen, but when it's every single visit, it stops being a mistake and starts being a pattern. Speed and accuracy are the basics of a drive-in, and this location struggles with both. There are too many other options to keep giving this place chances. Unfortunately, we're done. To burn this location to the ground, and buy out the owners, wouldn't even be enough to start over! ZERO STARS because you made a child cry!
