I went to Whataburger and was surprised it was busier than many restaurants these days. Everything and everyone seemed to just flow. It was like it was a staged set on tv with extras and yes a manager delivering condiments from table to table. I ordered a #1 with onion rings & a chocolate shake. I then got the fish sandwich, (limited time only for lent) W/ french fries, and a vanilla shake. I also edited a kids cheeseburger and an apple pie. The #1 Whataburger was good and tasty and the onion rings spectacular as always. I was curious about the fish and overall it was tasty with nice crunch. I will say however that it could have used a bit more tartar sauce to make it a great sandwich. The fries were pretty good but a little bit on the sorter side, (I like my fries more crispy or at least close). I tried the kids cheeseburger and it was cold and dry. read more

Okay, sooooo, I'll be honest, I'm from SoCal traveling America & I always hear that the Texas Whataburger is like our In-n-Out. Huh, No. Sorry. So we wanted to try it hearing good things about it. Also, I instantly noticed a huge difference, there wasn't a ridiculous line to get this food, or even a line. Actually as soon as we got in we were greeted by the manager. A awesome, funny guy. We asked what's really good. He replied One of everything! Lol. My husband said Oh, you must be the manager! Lol. He was really cool! I originally was going to put 3 stars because their food is Meh, but he bumped it up to 4. First I had their normal cheeseburger and it was good. Wasn't great, but it was good. I had gotten a Dr.Pepper shake & THAT was delicious. I'll give you points for that. In-n-Out don't have that ! My husband & daughter got the green chili patty melt. Walked in tonight with one thing in mind, GC double cheeseburger. Placed order upfront, not in drive thru, 1/28/26 @7:30..Sat and waited for order to be made, Order comes out relatively fast. Head the 5 miles home to relax and indulge. Open up the bag and lift my soon to be gone burger. Come to find out it is the smallest single patty burger with no green chile, no cheese, no double patty, no nothing?! do I drive all the way back now to exchange the order, or suck up the cost I paid for one burger that I really wanted and didn't get? I think Whataburger makes one of the best burgers, of the fast food places in Albuquerque, and they are consistent. But these days I need to have a healthier option most of the time. They had a very good Apple-Cranberry salad with grilled chicken. I got this all the time (once or twice per week) for years. But they often had a supply chain issue on fresh fruit (for apples) and discontinued this option recently ... so I took my business elsewhere. I just found out they have a garden salad option, which is on their online ordering system, but not advertised inside the restaurant. Because it is not on the menu in the dining room, no one orders it, so it is a 20 minute wait for a salad. They could straighten up this mess, but probably won't. It is a corporate problem. They can choose to have healthy options ... or not. They do have a Cobb salad, but I am not a fan of boiled eggs, and eggs are not particularly healthy anyway. read more

There are not many Whataburger's in the state of New Mexico, maybe seven or so, fortunately this one is on my beat and path. I have to say that I enjoy a good Whataburger with cheese and green chile. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience at this location. Today my son let me know he injured himself and wasn't very mobile. So I offered to pick up dinner for him. And this was his meal of choice. Patty Melt with French fries and gravy. The drive thru line was very long so I just parked and went inside. The dining area was also very busy but still had a lot of seating. I waited in line for a quick second and was pleasantly greeted by a nice young lady who helped use the Whataburger app for the first time. After several horrible experiences where an online order for breakfast or lunch, waiting an additional 30 minutes was always a guarantee. It didn't matter if no one was in line or if you were The only person in the restaurant. The wait was always consistent. 30+ minutes. Don't bother if You're in a hurry. Look, this isn't my first goround with Whataburger, and I generally don't bother reviewing fast food chains, but I just felt like weighing in on the hype. And to preface, recently I discovered my new favorite fast food burger in Culver's! Seriously, the bomb! Anyway, I was in the mood for a big juicy burger, something I hadn't had in a while and when driving there they were. Answering the call, one would think... but a las, I was disappointed. Service was good, so they got that goin' for them, but once I got that burger home? Smashed, dry, too much mustard, just wrong in so many ways. When I compare all the chain guys, I'd probably even prefer McD's double quarter pounder over this. I know, right? Crazy talk! On an aside, the king is indeed Culver's, followed by In & Out, then maybe 5 Guys, then take your pick with the rest, but good ol' Griff's is really high on my local list. Tonight will be my last visit to this location. The last four times I've ordered, my order has been incorrect. On one of those occasions I ordered on the mobile app for pickup, checked in and waited nearly 40 minutes for my order before I went inside and was handed an order that had been sitting there cold and forgotten. I asked that it be remade because it had been sitting there for over an hour at that point, and they staff treated me like it was my fault. Now among the worst managed fast food places around. When it isn't busy the food is good, the place is clean, and the staff is attentive. When it is busy all the staff is fixated on the kitchen but no one attends to the dining area. Out of iced tea, napkins, straws, tales are filthy, and the beverage bar is a mess. Tell the manager the dispensers are out of napkins, he grumbles and walks away. 10 minutes later no napkins. I feel good giving this Whataburger 1 star. This location is well maintained and clean inside and out. My wife's shop is near by and every once and a while I get a green chili double. The bread at this one never seems to be fresh and the veggies are not crisp at all. I don't have very high expectations when patronizing a fast food restaurant. The key to that statement is fast. I think if you use the number system that they have on the menu board you will have a better chance of getting most of your order right. I am allergic to raw onions and cannot absolutely eat them at all. Every time I have ordered food at this Whataburger I ask for no onions and every time I end up remaking the burger I just paid for so I do not get an allergic reaction. At around $6.50 for a burger they are priced at least a dollar more than the other chains. Rex's one of the best burgers in Albuquerque charge less and completely blow Whataburger out of the water. I wish they had a drive through for the days that my paralysis acts up. Whataburger is at the top of the burger fast food chain. Avoid this location and go to the other ones located here in the burque. I have never had a bad experience at the other locations. The latest visit to 9500 Candelaria had the cashier rolling her eyes at me to my face while I hurriedly dug for exact change. Give people a total before directing them to the window if you don't want to wait for them to get their money. The woman at the pickup window did not know my order and asked me what I ordered. When I presented my receipt to her she took it and did not give it back. Rude and incompetent staff. I waited 30 minutes in the drive through for 2 burgers and a melted shake and paid $17 for horrible service and mediocre food.
