    Local Chain
    Bill W.

Actually I thought I had already left a review for this place. Classic '50's and '60's drive in and most have inside dining. I am going to date myself but this is the type restaurant I grew up with. McDonalds was the same with Burgers for 15 cents. Burger Chef and others long gone were the same. This local chain should not be confused with the Texan What A Burger Chain and has evolved into a regional competitor It's a regional chain with a limited number of store across the Carolina's. If you're old enough to remember going to the drive in during the '50's, '60's and part of the '70's where you pulled in and place you order and a cheap but good burger was delivered shortly thereafter. Sonic has tried to duplicate the overall experience but nothing including sliders can recreate that experience. Gourmet dining with white Lenin - Answer is no Back to the basis drive in - Definitely yet

    What-a-Cheeseburger, ATW (all the way).

The last time I ate here was about 20 years ago. It was old then, even older now. What hasn't changed is the over-the-top friendly service (nearly as sweet as their tea), and the hot items fresh off the grill or outta the frier. My What-a-Cheeseburger all the way (ATW), was exactly the same as I remembered. Hot, tasty, with finely minced slaw and a complimenting chilli to bind it all together. Though it is a large sandwich, I was able to eat in the car and not get a drop on my shirt. Nice. Thanks for staying consistent over the years--a key ingredient for success in my opinion. I say when in Mt Pleasant "Give 'em a whirl" and experience what an iconic, southern burger joint is all about.

I have tried this place 3 times. It sucks. The worst ambiance in Cabarrus County. (what a dump). Tacky, tacky, tacky. The food is just as bad. Burgers are overcooked and the topping have no flavor. The order taker is constantly screaming out orders. Save your money and go a block down to Buddy's.

This What-A-Burger was everything I hoped it would be! I had never seen one of these before working in Cabarrus County, NC. They look like those diners that have amazing burgers, and that's exactly what it is! We stopped by this location at 2:30pm, and it was still very busy! When we got up to the counter to order, we told the lady that it was our first time. She was so nice to us! She didn't rush us just because there were people behind us. She gave us her recommendations, and I ended up choosing one-the Bost burger, which is a patty with pulled pork and BBQ sauce and an onion ring on top. We also ordered a side of tots and onion rings. Boyfriend ordered a burger for him and a chocolate shake. We were able to sit outside, as it wasn't too hot. I will say that it took a little bit to get our food; however, we noted that they had a ton of to-go orders, and that must have slowed them down. My burger was so amazing. It was gooey and delicious. The patty had been cooked on the flat top, the pulled pork was tender and seasoned very well, and the onion ring added a bit of texture. It was such a good burger-I highly recommend it if you're looking to change up your burger order. The tots and onion rings were good-nothing exciting and a little smaller than we anticipated, but good overall. You should definitely try a What-A-Burger!

Kind of a wet drippy unpleasant day so why not drive halfway across the state for a slightly above average burger and fries? Problem is that when I got here they're pushing this cleveland burger thing and half price drinks... Nat Attack is W-A-B's answer to Golden Archie's signature sandwich and what an answer it is...Two significant beef patties, some sorta sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions and more pickles on a 5" triple-bun. add fries and a drink and you're full up for less than $10 and not even thinking about dessert and reasonably certain you enjoyed it but you are too full to say for sure... Secondly, it's not a drive-in but there's picnic tables for dining alfresco in good weather. Inside has tables around to the left or booths in the main room. Next to the TV the menu boards roll through breakfast and dinner options plus assorted food truck news, events, and announcements. It's mostly a decent place to sit down for a visit over snacks; a good sort of old fashioned in a sea of modern uniformity...

    The Witchdoctor!!
    Dennis W.

Stopped in here last night on the way back to Charlotte. Got a What-A-Cheeseburger, fries, and the most bizarre soft-drink I could ever image, a witchdoctor. Burger was great, cooked properly, but the bun and condiments when going all the way require a second patty for sure. Fries were basic crinkle cut and although cooked properly were forgettable. The witchdoctor, a suicide blend of sodas topped with fresh lemon and a pile of .... dill pickles, was interesting to say the least. Worth trying at least once. I'll debate on ordering again if I'm ever in this area of the south again. Service was great! Two jolly ladies talked me though the menu and even offered up some history of the restaurant and the secret witchdoctor recipe. Certainly not fine dining but for a Yankee in town looking for hidden pieces of the old south this is just what the doctor ordered. I hope to make it back again someday.

Cons; - The lady that took our order asked us if we placed an onlne order if we needed to place a to go order 15 minutes later. We sat on the outside bench. - When we received our food from the same lady, we only received our fried pickles. She didn't check the ticket with the bag. We were missing a salad, a chicken salad sandwich, and a brisket grilled cheese. - Then we get into our car and double checked everything again. No utensils. Had to go back in for some. - Food quality: meh. The brisket grilled cheese had zero flavor or smokiness. The side of greenbeans for almost $4 was not worth it. Small portion size. Not sure how they seasoned them but they weren't good. The fried pickles were undercooked. Need more choices for salad dressings. The chicken salad sandwich was bland. We won't be back

Mount Pleasant Smokehouse... yeah, that's a no from me…read more While waiting for my order, I watched other customers' meals and already had a feeling this would be money wasted. I took everything home to give it a fair shot, so here we go: Mashed Potatoes - Definitely better with gravy. The homestyle potatoes, with the peel included, were a nice touch. Without gravy, they needed salt and pepper. The gravy itself had a brown mushroom flavor that gave the potatoes some much-needed taste. Hushpuppies - Crispy on the outside, soft and full on the inside. No complaints here. Baked Beans - A complete miss. No flavor at all--just bland, straight-out-of-the-can vibes. Ribs - They pulled apart easily, but despite the light saucing, they had no real flavor. Brisket - Had a nice smoky taste, but definitely needed sauce. Unfortunately, the vinegar-based sauce they provided was a mistake--thin, watery, and just bad. Chicken - The best thing I tried. Lightly sauced, with a good smoky flavor that actually carried through the meat. I hope they improve, but for me, this was a one-and-done experience. #GratuityAdded #CharlotteEats #MountPleasantSmokehouse #CabarrusEats #Cabarrus #CabarrusBBQ #charlottefood #charlottenc #cltfoodie #charlottefoodie #charlottesgotalot #exploreclt #charlottefoodies #cltfoodies #issawrap #cltfoodbloggers #charlottefoodguide #charlottefoodblogger

Friends had been raving about this place years ago but I never made it out.....until this week. Queen's Feast (ie Restaurant Week) was the perfect opportunity to give them a try. I made a reservation, just to be safe. But it wasn't really needed at the time/day we went. When we arrived, we were promptly seated. I loved the restaurant decor....it has an old elegant feel with all the wood paneling. There is a row of windows lining one side which brightens things up. There was a bar area almost hidden behind a wall that I happened to find when walking to the bathroom. Our waitress, while busy, was very pleasant and accommodating. I ordered off of the Restaurant Week menu. The Zucchini Fries were delicious! The batter was very flavorful and the portion size was generous. My main dish, the Sesame Tuna was really good as well, although the Brussel Sprouts were the true star of the show. The bread pudding was pretty good, although the sweetness of it overpowered any other flavor profile for me. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely return again. Please note that the parking was a little tricky. There was a lot behind the building but cara parked on both sides made it nearly impassible. We opted to park across the street in the free, public parking lot.

Food is always amazing and on this visit we were trying out their submission for the Cabarrus March Burger Madness competition. While it was very yummy, it wasn't a winning entry this year for us. It was a little too safe in creativity. But the burger was delish! The restaurant is nicely appointed and has a great bar area and a bourbon bar area as well. They had live music while we were there and it was pretty loud. I didn't love that at all. Maybe live music should be out on the patio because it was pretty hard to have a conversation with our party of six. BUT overall, we love 73&Main and we'll be back
