I'm in Salisbury a lot in the evenings and this place closes at 4pm. But I was blessed to be there on a Saturday when they were open and the dropped by. It's such a simple place. Hot dog, cheese dog, hamburger or cheeseburger and toppings are chili, onion and mustard. Simple but people line up down the street to eat here. Cash only. Not my favorite thing, but I get it. The food was amazing. My kind of great homemade style hot dogs and burgers. Can't wait to go again!!

You ever take a bite of a hot dog and just know you have to come back for more? That was Haps for me. This was the best hotdog I have ever had. The burger was just *fine* but I only had a bite so I'd get another to try. I love that the menu is so simple and only has hamburgers and hotdogs on it. This place is packed with regulars and I may just be a new regular.

A staple of Salisbury, NC. This is the perfect downtown spot for a quick, affordable and simple bite. The limited menu only offers hamburgers hot dogs and sodas. That's it! It's simple, fun and delicious. I ordered the cheese dog and hamburger, and both were great! Keep in mind that they only take cash. I loved it and can't wait to come back!

This has been my go to for the past 20 years. The best hotdogs, chili and people You can meet. Get a chili dog with cheese from Jamie and a cheerwine. Don't forget the cash. It's a cash only kinda joint. Check out more at my TT Tarheelfoodie828

Today was the perfect day to grab some lunch where we could stand outside and eat. Extremely simple concept and menu. It works so well! We ordered 2 hot dogs with chili and mustard and 1 cheeseburger all the way (mustard, chili & onions). The burger was nice and fresh and fit the bun perfectly so you get a burger and bread in every bite. The hot dogs were good and the mustard and chili complemented it well. All drinks are in glass bottles, and being in Salisbury-Cheerwine is a must! Staff was super nice and very efficient.

I get that it's a local flavor favorite that plays on its uniquity: tiny shop, no seating, limited standing, no fries, no beer, no problem... but how do I get mustard-onion-relish when you have no relish? middling sausage, middling bun, wrapped in paper (yea!) plus bagged chips in a plain paper sack (yea! again) with paper napkins. burgers and dogs prepared on a flat grill about five feet away behind the counter but still pretty much right in front of your eyes. you can see what's going on so no surprises either good or bad.

Waiting in line in 90 degree heat outside of Hap's to get to the counter to order food.

Hap's is a Rowan County legend when it comes to greasy spoons. But like with so many legends, their better days are behind them and unfortunately, Hap's falls into that category. I'll probably catch some flak from the Salisbury faithful but I call them as I see (or taste) them. Hap's is located in downtown Salisbury. It is unique in the fact that there is NO SIT DOWN SERVICE. Menu consists of burgers hotdogs, chips and drinks. Nothing else. That's it. Period. You order at the counter and the burgers and dogs are cooked on a flat top grill in front of you. Service was very friendly. Once you get your order, you can take it to go or stand up and eat it inside or outside. But like I said, no table and chairs. Just a standup counter inside and two outside. I got a hot dog and hamburger all-the-way. I ate them outside. All the way is ketchup, mustard, onions, cheese and chili. Here is where the disappointment begins. Maybe my expectations were too high about this "legendary" eatery. I found the hot dog and hamburger disappointingly BLAND. I could take onion and mustard but the hot dog itself, chili and hamburger were void of flavor. They had substance but zero flavor. I love flavorful foods, Indian, Thai, Cajun and so on. Waiting in a line in 90 degree heat was not worth this by a long shot. I can think of a dozen local places with better burgers. Two stars: one for fast, friendly service and one for legendary status over the decades. Any other place would have been one star. Save your money. If you want to eat here because of the longevity of the business and novelty of their eating arrangements, go ahead. But don't say I didn't tell you so.

The hotdogs themselves had a great taste, that little crisp texture from being grilled on the flattop.

My parents were with us and got pulled pork & pulled chicken. I stole a hush puppy from my mom and it was delicious! Their sides were spectacular--broccoli salad, corn, and macaroni. My husband got a brisket sandwich with macaroni. His brisket was fantastic! You could see the smoke ring and it tasted smoky, it was tender, flavorful. My daughter got chicken tenders with macaroni--typical for her but she definitely enjoyed it. I got a pulled pork sandwich with white slaw, fried okra, and sweet potatoes. My dad took a few and said they were so perfectly cooked that it was like throwing down some popcorn. The sweet potatoes made me think of Thanksgiving! If you're near Salisbury, you will definitely need to stop by.

The server was attentive and so so nice, she made me feel right at home and gave great suggestions about sides and meats. The bbq was amazing! I tried the pulled pork and the sausage and I tried several of their bbq sauces available on the table. There wasnt a single one I didnt like. I went on a wednesday and you get an extra free side so I took advantage and got slaw, Mac n cheese, and the fried okra. It came with pickles and pickled onions and your choice of hushpuppies or cornbread. To be honest the only underwhelming thing were the hushpuppies. They were basically cookout hushpuppies, not homemade or original, however the okra blew me away it was so freaking delicious! I don't know how often I will take a special trip out there but if I want bbq I know where to go.

Our server, I forget her name, was the epitome of hospitality and service. She anticipated our needs (refills, to go containers etc) - chatted about the history or the restaurant and town - providing suggestions not just for dinner but attractions on our way to our destination. She was just so very cool. The food was great - I opted for Greek Spaghetti. Different than I've had before but enjoyed it all the same. It was like the flavor was liquid or broth form, pooled at the bottom of the dish. Another version I had was dry, like Pesto. Anyway - when I figured out all the goodness was at the bottom of the plate - it was all over from there. Mixed it up a little. Toss in a little crushed red peppers for taste. Then inhaled it all until it was all gone. The al dente noodles. Charred chicken. All just right. The service for me made it an excellent experience. Food was good and I enjoyed it enough that if I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely stop in - but not before trying other places first. But if I lived in the area, I'd be a regular.
