A bit of the past, except the prices. My order was quickly prepared and served. Place is a little loud but overall a nice place. Service was great and quick. Clean.

Our first time here. Parking is an issue for sure. Food wise, mine was great. But the onion rings had zero flavor and didn't taste fully cooked. My wife had chicken and dumplins and it wasn't good at all. Her mashed potatoes weren't good either. They tasted like they were made days ago and just warmed back up. Our waitress was really good, super friendly and helpful. I'd go back for the same meal but that's it. They have way too much on their menu. I don't see how this small place can handle that much food.

So many things to look at! The decor is like an old country store. I like they have kept it the same for all these years. We were seated right away - Service was great. The menu is plentiful! So much to choose from. I'm not a big eater so I went with the kids meal pancakes. I love how they make them. Nice and fluffy yet a crispy edge. You can eat them without syrup! Their bacon is likely the best bacon I have had. Thick and crispy and oh so good. If you have a chance to go to the Cracker Barrel give them a try. You will enjoy! They told me it would be about 20 minutes and it was more like 45 minutes for the wait. I had my 81-year-old Uncle in the car and thank goodness I had A/C! Our food was pretty good and well seasoned. However, despite my Uncle getting a well done steak, it was a little on the hard to chew side. I like Cracker Barrel, so I will definitely be back. The restaurant has gotten a little makeover so no complaints there. However, the food and service is just average to me. We placed our orders for two meatloaf meals, which was on special for that day. After about fifteen minutes we were told they were out of meatloaf. Why did it take that long to tell us that?! So I went with the grilled chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and green beans. Overall it was pretty good, except the gravy. It was so thick and seemed like it had been warmed up a ton of times. I didn't eat it. The one thing I notice when I eat food at Cracker Barrel is that it leaves my fingertips and mouth feeling really greasy. I'm not sure why, but I remember that from years ago as well and it still affects me the same way. My husband and daughter didn't comment much about their food. It was pretty average for them as well. For this reason and the mediocre food, I'm not sure I'll be visiting again unless it's to shop in the store, which I really like. And to be fair we had a young male waiter who was very sweet and did the best he could to take good care of us.

After checking in, they waited over an hour and still were not seated. During that time, they followed up with staff every 10-15 minutes to make sure they hadn't been overlooked. Meanwhile, multiple groups who arrived after them were seated first. What made the situation even more confusing was that they could see into the dining areas and noticed several tables sitting empty while they continued to wait. Staff never provided a clear explanation for the delay or why later arrivals were being seated ahead of them. After reading other reviews, it appears that long waits and poor organization may be recurring issues at this location. However, given that my parents were among the few non-white customers present, the experience left them wondering whether something more than simple disorganization was involved. Whether the issue was poor management, lack of communication, or something else entirely, the experience was disappointing.

However, this was my daughter's last night visiting us before returning to the West Coast, and we have fond memories of eating at CB during our family travels when she was MUCH younger. We arrived at this location an hour before closing, which I try to avoid with any restaurant. The parking lot was sparse at that hour, so parking wasn't a problem. We were immediately escorted to our table after making our way to the host station. There were still several tables occupied, which made me feel less guilty about our arrival time. Drinks were promptly brought to our table and then we placed our order. Now comes to the one-star deduction explanation. By my phone, at least 30 minutes went by before I asked our server if our food was coming out or did we need to go elsewhere. Up until this time, our server hid in the kitchen. While he appeared geniunely polite, I think he was honestly afraid to ask the kitchen crew what was taking so long. Our server's supervisor came out and apologized for the delay explaining that our order had been lost (our server later told us the order printer ran out of paper and no one seemed to notice). In an effort to make it up to us, the supervisor stated he would take off the priciest meal on our ticket. Within a few minutes, our order did come out and thankfully the food was delicious, which actually was this restaurant's saving grace. I don't normally travel through this area unless headed to the Charlotte airport, so it's unlikely I'll stop again at this CB location. My recommendation though would be to come during busier times of the day when the staff seemed to be more "on point."

My dining companion had gravy with his biscuits and gravy, so I used some of his. Without the gravy, it was a bit dry, but seasoned well. The gravy helped. The hash browns were very crispy and delicious. I wouldn't consider the food gourmet, but it was good enough for a quick, hearty meal with good sized portions.

A must stop for both dinner and Southern breakfast enthusiasts…read more On my way home from Charlotte, I used Yelp to find me a classic diner to start my day off right. I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu. Several things jumped out: * Breakfast special for $6.59 weekdays * Breakfast plates mostly under $12 * Grits included as a side option * Livermush available * City ham and country ham both offered * Pork chops available for breakfast I ordered the country-fried steak with white gravy (essentially chicken-fried steak), along with two sunny-side-up eggs, perfectly prepared grits, a large buttermilk biscuit, and a delicious diner coffee. The restaurant occupies a stand-alone building with a warm, "come on in and rest a spell" atmosphere. Inside, you'll find counter seating, an open kitchen, and tables throughout the dining room. I chose a seat by the window overlooking the parking area. This was a great breakfast, that was reasonably priced, in a great atmosphere, with very nice people. It stuck to both my mind and ribs all day long. After breakfast, I continued on to downtown Concord and spent some time exploring one of North Carolina's most charming revitalized downtown districts. The breakfast was the perfect start to the morning. Crack of Dawn Diner has earned a spot on my repeat list whenever my travels take me through the Charlotte-Concord area.

Friends had been raving about this place years ago but I never made it out.....until this week. Queen's Feast (ie Restaurant Week) was the perfect opportunity to give them a try. I made a reservation, just to be safe. But it wasn't really needed at the time/day we went. When we arrived, we were promptly seated. I loved the restaurant decor....it has an old elegant feel with all the wood paneling. There is a row of windows lining one side which brightens things up. There was a bar area almost hidden behind a wall that I happened to find when walking to the bathroom. Our waitress, while busy, was very pleasant and accommodating. I ordered off of the Restaurant Week menu. The Zucchini Fries were delicious! The batter was very flavorful and the portion size was generous. My main dish, the Sesame Tuna was really good as well, although the Brussel Sprouts were the true star of the show. The bread pudding was pretty good, although the sweetness of it overpowered any other flavor profile for me. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely return again. Please note that the parking was a little tricky. There was a lot behind the building but cara parked on both sides made it nearly impassible.
