I love the barbecue here. It's moist and has a pleasant smoky flavor. They also have great sauce. The restaurant is clean and the employees are friendly. The Sunday buffet is really good. They have awesome fried chicken. They provide catering services. They catered a graduation party for I had for daughter and everything was good. This is a good casual dining restaurant to try!

Cheeseburger wrap and substituted fried okra for fries. Fresh and yummy. My wife had the buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. All of it was better than expected! Down home country atmosphere and really good service. They had a very limited beer selection but it was okay. The food was great!

    Amazing get this every time

Every thing was bad not one thing was good except chicken tenders I do not recommend.

One of the best places for bbq pork you will find in the area, and we have tried a lot! Seasoned shredded pork, tender and cooked perfectly. It is seasoned on its own, and the sauces are made to complement the flavor, not drown it. Vinager based sauce is delicious with just the right amount of kick. The "saucier" tomato based bbq sauce is very flavorful without being too sweet. The platter came with hush puppies (so good!! Hot, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Good flavorful batter) and choice of side (crinkle fries with just a little crunch). Grilled chicken salad was a bit plain with just lettuce, onion, cherry tomatoes and a sprinkling of shredded cheese. Chicken breast was large and nicely seasoned & grilled, and came with 2 generous dressing cups. Not my favorite place for this type of salad, but I would order it again here. Have also been here for their Sunday Buffet and this is the best way to try a good majority of their food. The fried chicken is outstanding - light flavorful crunchy coating, moist inside! Not sure what the seasoning is but it is very good. Sometimes they have the pork bbq on the buffet also, along with beef tips and a few other main meats. Sides are homemade and very good - mashed potatoes, gravy, mac & cheese, greens. The buffet also includes the small (but still about 6-8 item) salad bar and desserts. Get here a few minutes before Church let's out so you can get a seat.

My wife's Odell High School class (1966) held their monthly dinner here in a private room. We had the hamburger steak with fried onion rings which included one trip to the salad bar. The food was tasty, and the server was attentive to our needs. Several members of our group had the wings bar with pasta and stated that they enjoyed it. It was my first time at the Brickhouse, and I would be willing to return and recommend it to others.

Seriously. Everything has pork. I got a handheld egg sandwich with tomato and cheese on a croissant with their potatoes. Basic sandwich, dry and the cheese & tomato were an extra charge. The potatoes were hard like they're old. The mimosa was good, regular sparkling with pineapple juice. And their tip machine doubles the recommended amount so for my $9 mimosa it generates a +$3 tip at 18 % but it should have been under $2. Just wanted to point that out too. I won't be back.

I started with the orzo tomato spinach soup with feta ($3.99). I wasn't sure what to expect as I get a pasta salad done similarly but I can tell you that I was highly impressed with the tomato based broth, the depth of the broth, creamy consistency of the orzo and pieces of fresh spinach. A side of crumbled feta accompanied it to toss in - and it definitely added to the flavors!!! I originally came here for the fried catfish - and it did not disappoint! Two pieces of fish, two sides (collards and broccoli cheese) and hushpuppies was $16.99. I had originally gotten the squash but I'm not a fan of breaded and fried. My server was gracious and let me swap it out. My service was quick, my server was the absolute sweetest and I'm already trying to figure out my next visit!

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

A must stop for both dinner and Southern breakfast enthusiasts…read more On my way home from Charlotte, I used Yelp to find me a classic diner to start my day off right. I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu. Several things jumped out: * Breakfast special for $6.59 weekdays * Breakfast plates mostly under $12 * Grits included as a side option * Livermush available * City ham and country ham both offered * Pork chops available for breakfast I ordered the country-fried steak with white gravy (essentially chicken-fried steak), along with two sunny-side-up eggs, perfectly prepared grits, a large buttermilk biscuit, and a delicious diner coffee. The restaurant occupies a stand-alone building with a warm, "come on in and rest a spell" atmosphere. Inside, you'll find counter seating, an open kitchen, and tables throughout the dining room. I chose a seat by the window overlooking the parking area. This was a great breakfast, that was reasonably priced, in a great atmosphere, with very nice people. It stuck to both my mind and ribs all day long. After breakfast, I continued on to downtown Concord and spent some time exploring one of North Carolina's most charming revitalized downtown districts. The breakfast was the perfect start to the morning. Crack of Dawn Diner has earned a spot on my repeat list whenever my travels take me through the Charlotte-Concord area.
