We went for the first time. I had been hearing things here and there about how good the food was here. We went and I got the wings which were awesome. They were actually breaded, fried and then sauced. The server was very attentive as well as the others backing him up. My husband got hotdogs and they were gone very quick. I'm giving four because of a few things but there are more ups than downs and I will be back. I ordered the wings...overpriced for what you get. Breaded wings are not my favorite and if I wanted breaded chicken I would get chicken fingers. Also the hot honey was like a store brand. They could have been more crispy as well. I would like to see a non breaded wing. Would also like to see a garlic park and teriyaki option. Burger was awesome. Cheese is awesome. The fried pickle was good, nothing crazy. The chicken wrap was good but kinda dry. Staff was awesome hands down. Friendly and recommended awesome beers for the October season. My first impression from the outside was that the entrance was not clearly marked. Upon walking in, we were greeted immediately! The bar runs the length of the building with no stools so we felt a bit awkward about what to do next. The screen showing the beers moved very fast so it was hard to focus and choose! Thankfully the bartender recommended the in house brewed Pilsner which was excellent! We ordered food and beer at the counter and then sat at a table. Plenty of seating indoors and out!! There were a couple of tv's here and there plus decent music playing in the background. Our food arrived - we had the buffalo chicken loaded tots (the chicken tasted like crockpot? Kind of shredded and mushy- overall good portion size and tasty) and also the wings with the Caribbean jerk sauce which was delicious. Wings were huge and juicy! We leisurely ate and had a few beers, but once every table filled with kids, babies and adults looking to ignore their problems we made our exit lol. Love the concept, wish they had a few gluten free options but you can't win em all! Oh and the service was friendly, one of the owners even stopped by our table. Love the small town feel! read more

You might stumble into this terrific little taproom in Locust Town Center without realizing they also brew their own beer -- but like me, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the discovery. The 4 or 5 Kunkle beers on tap are as good as any of the 15 or so amazing regional brews they serve, and well worth the drive out from Charlotte. I loved both the Winter Warmer and Hell's Half Acre Black IPA, especially when paired with their delicious Brewpub Chicken Sandwich, a massive serving with applewood bacon and aioli sauce that will leave you full for the rest of the day. Service is prompt and friendly, and the casual atmosphere is perfect for families. A tremendous addition to fast-growing downtown Locust. read more

Inside is nice. Long bar lots of tables and an outside seating area on each end of the room. Live music on weekends. Great bass player in one of the bands. Lots of different beers and ales. We didn't order lunch but the menu has plenty of choices. The employees are friendly too and that's a big plus! So happy Locust finally has a brewery!! And an amazing one at that. Visiting my family we stopped in and I had a flight and my spouse had a pint. They have a LOT of choices, I think like 30?? My flight and his beer was only like $15.. I live in Vegas where 1 beer is that much so I loved it. The menu looks fabulous and I can't wait to go back and eat next time. Imagine my excitement upon hearing that Locust had a brewery. I rushed down to the Brew Room at my first opportunity, only to be met with nothing but disappointment. When I arrived at my destination, I thought maybe google maps had steered me wrong. Was this the restaurant or the jail? Parking in a lot full of cop cars does not inspire one to imbibe but I pushed forward. There was no obvious entrance, no beckoning signage so I asked the worker carrying the trash out and he said, "uh, I don't know, I think you can go it that way". Inspiring. The Brew Room has a beautiful long wood bar. The only problem is that you can't sit at it! That's right, no bar seating at the bar. I inquired as to why this is and the bartender replied that they wanted an open design. What? If you were afraid that there wasn't going to be enough room between the bar seating and the actual restaurant seating, just make the building wider right? I don't know, I'm no construction expert but huh? The only seating options that face a t.v. are two long eight tops. So here I am, all by my lonesome sitting a an eight top so that I can watch the baseball game. Geesh. Here's the other kicker. You have to order everything at the bar. That means every drink, every food item, any kind of service has to be initiated at the bar. I asked the girl that brought my app. out for another beer and she said, "I'm not a bartender". Again I say, what??? I ordered (at the bar of course) an ipa and it was served in what looked to be a 10oz. chalice. Why? Why? Why? If I wanted a shot, I would have ordered one. I learned that I had to ask for a beer that comes in a full-size glass here. I absolutely hate that. I asked if they brewed there own beer? Not yet. Then why are you open? On to the food. Let's call the menu, eclectic. Lots of hot dog and tater top options. I can make those at home. Give me something I can't make. So I went for the cheese steak egg rolls. Ugh, they were so dry, even with the sauce. I guess they will make you want to drink more? How about the pastrami sandwich? Again, so freaking dry. Through some cheese on there or something other than just mustard for God's sake. Maybe I should have just tried the hot dog and tater tots? That's hard to mess up right? The Brew Room, I had such high hopes but alas you have failed in every way to rise above the miasma that is the restaurant scene of Locust, NC. read more
