Take out order Pros: - 15 minutes from the time we ordered to receiving the food. - Clean environment. Cons; - The lady that took our order asked us if we placed an onlne order if we needed to place a to go order 15 minutes later. We sat on the outside bench. - When we received our food from the same lady, we only received our fried pickles. She didn't check the ticket with the bag. We were missing a salad, a chicken salad sandwich, and a brisket grilled cheese. - Then we get into our car and double checked everything again. No utensils. Had to go back in for some. - Food quality: meh. The brisket grilled cheese had zero flavor or smokiness. The side of greenbeans for almost $4 was not worth it. Small portion size. Off the beaten path for us staying near Hendrick Motor Speedway, but absolutely worth it! I chose the pick 4 option as pictured. I wasn't really a fan of the sauce on my pulled chicken because it was too spicy (I don't like hot spicy stuff), but it was still delicious! The chicken was very juicy & it was the breast which is difficult to keep juiced! I am not a huge rib fan because others are clearly messing it up. Mount Pleasant has nailed the ribs, the burnt ends...even the hush puppies were delicious! I wish I lived here because I would come weekly! Highly recommend! Mount Pleasant Smokehouse... yeah, that's a no from me. While waiting for my order, I watched other customers' meals and already had a feeling this would be money wasted. I took everything home to give it a fair shot, so here we go: Mashed Potatoes - Definitely better with gravy. The homestyle potatoes, with the peel included, were a nice touch. Without gravy, they needed salt and pepper. The gravy itself had a brown mushroom flavor that gave the potatoes some much-needed taste. Hushpuppies - Crispy on the outside, soft and full on the inside. No complaints here. Baked Beans - A complete miss. No flavor at all--just bland, straight-out-of-the-can vibes. Ribs - They pulled apart easily, but despite the light saucing, they had no real flavor. Brisket - Had a nice smoky taste, but definitely needed sauce. Unfortunately, the vinegar-based sauce they provided was a mistake--thin, watery, and just bad. Chicken - The best thing I tried. Lightly sauced, with a good smoky flavor that actually carried through the meat. Recommend; Yes; not the best BBQ by any means BUT, certainly some INCREDIBLY super, super speedy and very professional customer service!! The brisket sandwich just didn't have any flavor whatsoever. The cheesesteak had much more, in our opinion. Fries were completely store bought flavored and nothing special at all, seriously. A corn dog was presumably just package-opened from Costco or Sam's and heated up. The meal was truly satisfying, again EXCELLENT customer service, just don't expect what I would identify as above average taste in anything much less to write home or to Grandma & Grandpa about. Absolutely amazing meal!! To start the service was wonderful. Very upbeat servers. Our order was also brought out extremely fast! My wife and I love burnt ends. In a lot of places they often run out. We were lucky and both had them. They were amazing. MEAT CANDY!! Best burnt ends I have had since moving to NC. The Brunswick stew was tasty and the onion rings were top notch. I told them the number of people that would be served and was supplied more than enough food. I requested the time the food was needed and it was on time . I met some friends here for dinner tonight. It was my first visit to the MP Smokehouse. We entered and got a table for four. Our server came to our table along with a girl that she was training. The trainee was wearing a mask. The rest of the employees were wearing NO MASK. There really weren't any precautions being followed here except by the diners wearing their masks in. The food was decent. I got a chicken quarter with a baked potato and a salad. The salad was the best part of the meal. One of my friends ordered lean brisket. It was dry but flavorful. Had to stop. Was told some years back this is a must cost for true barbecue fans. And I was not disappointed. The he aroma when I got here was amazing that pit fired smokehouse smell was just mouth watering. StephanieH took my order of ribs, pork, brisket baked beans and fried okra for a dinner feast fit for anyone who yearns for that true smokehouse taste. You do not want to miss stopping and dining in or taking it to go. Just realize if you take it to go you will probably stop cause you will never make it home without at least hitting the hush puppies. decided to try this place today after hearing great things. Maybe it was an off day but wasn't impressed. Came in, wasn't crowded. 2 other tables, that both had their food and 2 people sitting at bar. The conversation at the bar must of been really interesting bc it took them 5 minutes to acknowledge us. I had brisket sliced, baked beans, red slaw and Texas toast. Brisket was good, after I sauced it myself, I could have used a knife instead of pulling it apart with my fingers..but that would have meant interrupting conversation at bar. Should have ordered it chopped. Red slaw was terrible! So watery it slopped out of bowl onto plate and tasteless. Now red slaw is a harder slaw to master but come on..you are a bbq place. Its better to have no red slaw than watery, tasteless slaw. Baked beans tasted straight out of can, I spiced them up myself with bbq sauce. And the Texas toast..was just thick toast, no butter, no nothing. My husband had pulled chicken, baked beans, okra and hush puppies. He said his was just ok also. I tried a hush puppy..I've had better and I've had worse. But what really turned me off was a table near us had french fry's all over the floor. It was only about 4 or 5 but nobody could make an effort to pick them up? They just stepped over them. When I see that in a unbusy restaurant along with dirty condiment holders..it gives me a 2nd thought. Will I be back..doubtful. If I'm in area and hungry, I'll just go to Buddy's Place around corner. This is the second year in a row that we had the Mount Pleasant Smokehouse cater a large event for us. We ordered food for 80 people, and our order was delivered at the time requested and piping hot. Our menu included pulled pork barbecue, smoked chicken quarters, baked beans, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. This was a church event so several volunteers provided our desserts, BUT Mount Pleasant Smokehouse banana pudding is excellent! Obviously I recommend Mount Pleasent Smokehouse because we had them cater two years in a row, and yes we will have them cater our next big event. read more

It did NOT disappoint!!! Service, food and atmosphere were excellent!!! We had the redneck nacho appetizer with pork, the brisket sandwich and the "heart Marty" with hush puppies, fried okra and Mac and cheese. Everything single thing was incredible! Mount Pleasant Smokehouse was very good -- any place you can eat the pulled pork plain and taste the smokey goodness is fine by me, but they also have a nice vinegar based sauce and a good sweet BBQ red sauce. Brisket comes sliced (lean or fatty), chopped (mixed) or in the continuing to be trendy -- burnt ends. Veggies were great, okra seemed fresh and not frozen.. either that or a quality you cannot tell the difference. The last few times I have been to this establishment, I noticed the service declining greatly. The food, very small portions is pretty good. However this evening when I went in to pick up my order, I stood at the register for several minutes. 4 employees went around and by me and never said a word. One young lady came out of the back of the restaurant and made eye contact with me, so I was about to speak when she rushed by to greet a customer walking in, calling him by name. She walked past me again and poured his drink before he sat down. Still standing there... Finally another you my lady came out of the back and helped me with my order. I gathered my order up and left just thinking of letting it go, but I decided to leave a review when I actually saw the food. The order was incorrect, not completely but enough to make a difference. And the portions were incredibly small. I will have to think very hard before returning to this restaurant. I may just drive the extra few miles and go somewhere else.
