This was the first time we've been inside since the renovations. The food was excellent quality! The waitress staff and cashier were very nice and expedient. The place looks amazing with the renovations. They also got new menus. I am posting the menu but forgot to take a picture of the food sorry.

Troutman's is definitely an institution. My partner-in-dine's family have been coming to Troutman's all their lives. But what makes Troutman's an oasis is its dependability. You can always rely on their friendly and quick service. You can also be confident that you'll get good food (and in generous portions) every time: Troutman's is full of locals and that, in my opinion, is an effective gauge of an establishment's good reputation.

Don't be fooled by the word barbecue in their name. It's more of a family restaurant, although they do have some barbecue. The menu had 28 side dishes- so pretty much anything you'd like. I had the ribs- I don't think they were cooked in a pit and the sauce was thin. They tasted good but they are not cooked in the style of modern barbecue restaurant. The food was certainly a throwback to the 70s family style restaurant. Meatloaf. Fried chicken. Mashed potatoes and gravy.

In our lives we all have certain standards of what we expect from an establishment. Whether that be in the food industry, service industry, hotel industry etc. , but when it comes to barbecue Troutman's barbecue in Concord North Carolina has always been my gold standard. I was a very young teenager when I last ate at Troutman's s and after 40 years, I can honestly say they have maintained their quality in truly great BBQ. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding customers through their menu items. I had my old favorite the pulled pork plate. A healthy portion of tender Hickory smoked pork a side of the best coleslaw you'll ever have and of course those tender nuggets of hush puppies. There are a lot of BBQ places in NC, but this is the real deal you can't stay in business for 51 years and not have a excellent product. If your overwhelmed in choosing BBQ, search no further than Troutman's.

Troutman's is a local favorite of many people. It once had multiple locations but now has diminished to one. Personally, I think it's alright but it could be a lot better. One off set is you will be stuck with the smell of grease after you leave. And people CAN tell.

Heading into Concord on Church Street, Troutman's is on the left. This is their main location and you'll notice the cook house in the rear of the parking lot. They still cook their BBQ on site, I think they still use wood but not positive about that . Troutman's is an old family run business and has been serving BBQ for many years. The provided a heaping sandwich which was very tasty. The slaw was good and my bun was toasted. I had two sandwiches and tea for $8.51. The service was good and the food was good too. The building could use some updating but it's a good place to stop in and taste BBQ the way it should be served. BBQ education; there are two NC styles of BBQ: Eastern mostly whole hogs slow cooked over wood and sometimes gas and served with Brunswick stew (beef and chicken with vegetables), slaw (either yellow or red), corn bread (either hush puppies or corn bread sticks), white small potatoes or fries. The sauce is usually vinegar based with some added spices especially red peppers. You can usually find Texas Pete served also. The BBQ can be sliced, pulled or chopped... and some of the skin and fat is usually left in for flavor. Most people prefer pulled which is larger pieces, if you don't specify then you will usually get pulled. The other mostly in western NC is usually pork shoulders either slow cooked over wood or gas. Gas is becoming a popular fuel to conserve wood and the air quality. The wood adds some great flavor and many people don't want it any other way. Pork shoulders are smaller cuts of meat and cook in less time. The cooked meat usually is served with a mayonnaise based slaw, fries or on a sandwich. If you order a basket or tray you usually just get BBQ and hush puppies. If you order a plate you get fries and probably a side of slaw. The sides can certainly vary... so ask. The sauce is usually thick and red, based with ketchup some added spices especially red peppers and vinegar. You can usually find Texas Pete served also. The BBQ can be sliced, pulled or chopped... and some of the skin and fat is usually left in for flavor. Most people prefer pulled which is larger pieces, if you don't specify then you will usually get pulled. Many area restaurants now offer BBQ Chicken and beef brisket (mostly a Texas dish) along with pork spare ribs and beef ribs too. These items are not typically found with true NC family BBQ establishments... mostly the larger ones trying the satisfy more people with their offerings. Since Concord and Charlotte are in the middle of the state... you will find both types here.

Food was great but it was very busy so service was slow. Being retired it is a good place to catch up with friends.

FOOD IS SO GOOD! Me…read moreand my family have stopped in here a couple of times to eat, and it is so good every time! Once you get seated, they give you complimentary cheese biscuits. They are addicting. They are soft, fluffy, hot, cheesy, and delicious. I always get the chicken tender basket, with either fries or Mac and cheese. The tender are big, juicy, crispy, and hot. They are so good when they are paired with the honey mustard. The honey mustard is like a sweet-dijon. So good! The Mac and cheese is always creamy, and the noodles are always soft (not stale like some places), and the fries are always fluffy and crispy. The tea could be better (It is pretty weak), but the food makes up for it. The service isn't always the best (it depends on who you get), but they are never mean. Some of them just act like they just have somewhere better to be. Yesterday, they were short staffed and our server had to cover the whole bar (it was full), and several booths and tables, so I can understand how busy she was. Still, she did a great job for the amount of work that she had. If you live in Charlotte or the surrounding areas, are driving down I-85, or live in Concord, PLEASE stop in at Jim 'N Nick's. It is a more modern-family-feel restaurant, but is still super good and fresh!!

Decent BBQ with Solid Food, Average Service…read more I recently ate at Jim 'N Nick's BBQ in Concord and overall had a pretty decent experience. The food was definitely the highlight -- everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The BBQ had good flavor, and the sides were solid too. We.ordered a platter to share with ribs, shredded chicken and lean brisket with the coleslaw and potato salad. You can tell they take their time with the smoked meats, which is what keeps people coming back. Common areas were clean and the vibe was family friendly. The service, however, was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't anything special. Staff were polite, but things felt a bit slow and not very attentive compared to what you'd expect at a place like this. Overall, I'd still come back for the food since that's the most important part, but improving the service would definitely make the experience better.

My parents were with us and got pulled pork & pulled chicken. I stole a hush puppy from my mom and it was delicious! Their sides were spectacular--broccoli salad, corn, and macaroni. My husband got a brisket sandwich with macaroni. His brisket was fantastic! You could see the smoke ring and it tasted smoky, it was tender, flavorful. My daughter got chicken tenders with macaroni--typical for her but she definitely enjoyed it. I got a pulled pork sandwich with white slaw, fried okra, and sweet potatoes. My dad took a few and said they were so perfectly cooked that it was like throwing down some popcorn. The sweet potatoes made me think of Thanksgiving! The server was attentive and so so nice, she made me feel right at home and gave great suggestions about sides and meats. The bbq was amazing! I tried the pulled pork and the sausage and I tried several of their bbq sauces available on the table. There wasnt a single one I didnt like. I went on a wednesday and you get an extra free side so I took advantage and got slaw, Mac n cheese, and the fried okra. It came with pickles and pickled onions and your choice of hushpuppies or cornbread. To be honest the only underwhelming thing were the hushpuppies. They were basically cookout hushpuppies, not homemade or original, however the okra blew me away it was so freaking delicious! I don't know how often I will take a special trip out there but if I want bbq I know where to go.

Johnny Roger's was the choice. I had the Wagyu smash burger with fries. Price was a little steep, but what the heck. After a short wait, the order disc started vibrating. The burger and fries were good. My burger had two patties with a slice of cheese on each one. I did like that. The bun was good, it held up while I was enjoying my meal. The patties were very thin, but tasty and enjoyable. The fries were pretty good. I didn't get any seasoning that I could tell, but that's ok. Gibson Mill Market food court is actually pretty good place to hang out it seems. Who doesn't enjoy a burger and a beer (High Branch and Cabbarrus breweries are on site). It seems like a great place with plenty of things to see and partake in. It has a great vibe for sure. We would probably visit here again when everything is open. I would eat another burger here honestly.

I waited 40 minutes for a bbq sandwich, "French dip" cheesesteak, and Mac and cheese... Once the food did come out my French dip cheeseteak was cold to the touch... wasn't even under a heat lamp, the cheese and meat looked sad. And so was I. Oh and the Mac and cheese was an extremely small portion, last time we came it was served in a large container, it was about $4..
