Saw this on the channel of a food critic stating it's great so wanted to check it out. I agree. It was so good, my husband decided to go back again just 3 days later. Stick with the pulled pork and bbq ribs. They are fabulous ! Ribs have a nice Smokey flavor... pulled pork is flavorful and moist. They have tomato and vinegar sauce available separately to add yourself. I tried their Jamaican Chicken sandwich and was not impressed. It needed more lettuce and there didn't seem to be much flavor. It would be better with jerk seasoning... instead of just Jamaican honey. The previous visit, I tried their fish sandwich. It was ok. Lightly breaded. The tarter sauce tasted homemade though and was exceptional ! Recommended sides that were fantastic: Wisconsin cheese curds, mashed potatoes and gravy, curly fries, Brunswick stew, fried corn cob, coleslaw (tastes exactly like KFC), hushpuppies. Just ok sides: baked beans (tasted canned), green beans (watery). This place has been in business since the 80s and has darn good bbq. Service was good. I thought I accidentally left my Versace tortoise shell eyeglasses at their to go register and the manager Heidi looked at the cameras to see if I left them. She called after viewing the cameras that she didn't see me leave them there and did not find them. (I'm still looking for them btw) Dining room was comfortable and there are a couple of picnic tables outside to eat if you take to go. There is a large bar in a separate room. Lancaster BBQ in Huntersville, NC is a decent spot if you're in the mood for some classic barbecue, but it doesn't really stand out from other places in the area. The atmosphere has that traditional, casual BBQ feel, which is nice and comfortable for a laid-back meal. One very positive thing is they have a table outside for those with fur babies. The food is good overall, but a bit hit or miss. The pulled pork has a nice smoky flavor, though it can be a little dry at times. The sides are pretty standard--nothing bad, but nothing especially memorable either. Portion sizes are fair for the price. Service was friendly and she did an excellent job making sure we were happy with the food and the drinks were topped off. First time at Lancasters and we were so warmly welcomed that I was sure I was going to like this place and I was right. Starting with our server Kaia who suggested hush puppies to start and then gave us time to review the menu. The hush puppies were warm and crispy and perfect with butter or the ranch dressing. We both ordered bbq pork platter and were glad we did ; I had mashed potatoes and coleslaw while my friend had curly fries and okra both were happy with our choices. The pork was moist and the bbq sauce was a perfect mix of vinegar and sweetness with just a bit of heat. Nice spacing between tables made it easy to have conversation and historical photos gave a quaint feel. Easy parking on a holiday weekend too, overall a great choice. read more

Completely average in every possible way. From the decor and service to the food and drinks, every single thing was average. I can almost barely remember it to tell the truth, that was how basic and unmemorable it was. The three people I had lunch with felt the same way. Walked into Lancasters after a tough breakup and a parking ticket that somehow caught fire. The waiter sat me down, looked deep into my soul, and whispered, "You look like you need the seven-layer healing." Within minutes, I was face-deep in a nacho pile that held me emotionally, spiritually, and possibly telepathically. Each chip whispered affirmations. The guac hugged my inner child. Loved our dinner tonight! This was our first time here and it was great. I would say if I was a BBQ snob, that I might not love it AS much. But I'm not extremely picky with BBQ like some are... so keep that in mind. My favorite thing to get at BBQ places is burnt ends so I was sad to see it wasn't on the menu. Husband got pulled pork and a double order of fries. I thought his meat was a little too tangy for me, but he enjoyed it. I got a 1/2 servings of ribs, Mac and cheese, and fries. They were willing to make our fries extra crispy and they were perfect. I LOVED the Mac and cheese. Delicious! The ribs were great too. Fall off the bone tender with good flavor. I really enjoyed that they bring complimentary hushpuppies to the table. We didn't know this so it was a nice surprise! I think I would give it 4 out of 5 for food, but I'm going to give a 5 star rating because our server, Vivian, was so sweet and helpful! I ordered the BBQ pork dinner that came with hushpuppies, and I got the Brunswick stew and the mac-n-cheese as my sides. I didn't realize that it only comes with one sauce and that any additional would be extra, but I ended up trying the vinegar BBQ and mild BBQ sauce. I'm pretty satisfied with the flavor of my food, as they were seasoned well. There is an area towards the back of the store that is dedicated for takeout orders. The counter was empty when I arrived, so I had to wait a bit for someone to come out from the kitchen to take my order. It was hard to get their attention, and the customer service I received here was not great. However, it wasn't reflective of the entire restaurant because the people I had engaged with in the front (for dine-in) were much more welcoming. read more

This is my 3rd review of Lancaster's and previously all my experiences have been from eating in the dining room. I've had 'take out' here many times as well and it's always been good. I had a business meeting in North Charlotte recently and was looking for food options near my hotel on WT Harris Blvd near I-485. I recalled all my positive experiences over the past and decided to go here. Since it was a Sunday afternoon, I decided to sit at the bar and eat and watch some NFL Football. What a mistake. All the regulars were in attendance and they were loud and obnoxious. Yelling at each other across the bar. Making 'cat calls' at single women who wandered in but didn't stay. So much drama from middle aged men, it was sad in a way. I should have changed it to a ''go' order but I didn't. I ordered the brisket and a bowl of Brunswick Stew. The Brunswick stew was as good as I remember it. A great recipe, thick and full of flavor. Later that I night, I woke up because the brisket made me sick. read more

I debated on posting this review but I can't help but share good places! Lancaster's is such a great place, I feel it injustice to call it a hole in the wall with all their regulars and packed parking lot when I drive by! My boyfriend and I sat in the bar area, that is seat yourself. The space is actually quite large with a formal dine in area, a bar area, a pickup spot for to go orders and even an outside spot to eat during good weather. They also have booster seats and high chairs. Service was great, our bar tender was lovely and you can tell she cares about her regulars just by the few that popped in. Bar was immaculate and the Long Island Iced Tea she made us was even better! I had the build your own platter which is two meats two sides. I got the wings and tenders, they have a fried chicken I wanted to do but that's a 30min wait and we had to go get the baby so we needed something quick. My boyfriend got the pork dinner which came with two sides so he got collards and Mac and cheese and a side of bread. Everything came out rather fast. Only reason this wasn't all five stars is because unfortunately my wings weren't really sauced but for the sauce u could taste it was good. The collards were under seasoned as well. The Price: The prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get, and you can easily make two meals out of one entree. I had lunch the next day. The Parking: There was plenty of parking in the lot when we tried it, and we went on a Friday evening! It was busy, but it wasn't a zoo. My Order: I shared the Cajun Chicken and Ribs combo with a side of mashed potatoes and collard greens. They were all great, but the chicken was slightly on the dry side. The collard greens were the star for me, they were perfectly vinegary and well seasoned. We also tried the Brunswick Stew, and it was a must try! Located only 20-30 minutes outside of Charlotte ! Lancaster's BBQ offers some of the best BBQs around, with so much variety ! I am a fan of the brisket fries here on the menu they are called redneck fries . You also have to try the firecracker shrimp which I was truly impressed on how amazing they were as well . They say that hindsight is 20/20. There were several glaring red flags that we ignored that I wished we hadn't. The first one is the exterior. I have never been to a bbq restaurant where there was NOT a smoke stack and an absence of a smoke/bbq aroma in the parking lot. This restaurant's exterior was void of any aroma that would denote that it was a bbq restaurant. The second red flag was denoted when we asked about the online menu selections versus the menu presented at the table. Online it states that this restaurant offers brisket which is desirable for someone like me that eats neither pork or chicken. However we were informed that brisket has been recently removed from the menu due to frequent customer complaints that the meat is too tough. I have never been to an authentic bbq restaurant where there is not a pit master skilled enough to prepare all of the meats listed on the menu. Yet even with these two GLARING red flags we decided to stay as this restaurant came highly recommended from a respected local of the Charlotte area. My family and I were visiting the Charlotte area from out of town. My husband is a true pit master and has catered and competed for over 30 years. Whenever we are out of town he loves to find a local bbq treasure to visit. Oh dear........the best part of the meal was the hush puppies, the sweet tea and our server Meshia J. My husband ordered ribs. They lacked a smoke ring and were obviously baked. He requested the sauce to the side yet the sauce was still applied to the ribs anyways. When he pulled the first rib, there was no resistance and the rib easily pulled away which was a dead giveaway that the meat had not been smoked. My son ordered a pulled pork/bbq sandwich. He said it was just ok but tasted funny. He also said that it was salty and the sauce on the meat tasted funny. The French fries were not hot, kind of cold. I ordered beer battered white fish. Let's just say the fish filets were heavy on the batter and light on the fish. I feel as though I was served frozen fish filets from the local grocer freezer section. There was an overwhelming fish smell. It was rather greasy and salty as well. There wasn't much meat I could salvage to eat. I chose onion rings as my side item, which were served warm and somewhat greasy as well. Our server Meshia J. was great. She was kind and attentive. She treated us as if we were guests in her home. Overall this was not a good restaurant experience. This is not authentic bbq. I'm not sure how to classify this type of food. While service was good the food quality was absolutely terrible. Food came out cold and lukewarm. Was mention to the server in which she brought out another helping of brisket which was rubbery. Heidi was the manager on shift but never came to the table nor acknowledge any issues raised to the server leaving the young lady to fend for herself only to tell me she was on the phone with the owner to see if anything could be done. I told the sever I didn't need anything free and I'll pay my bill in it's entirety but will never return. The manager needs to be re-trained or let off the leash to make decisions without having to check in with ownership to do so. Again not once did she come to the table leaving the young server to handle the situation which she did the best she could. read more

It is a very intimate setting. A great place to bring the family (restaurant side), or to watch a game (bar side). Their sauces are made in house and are DELICIOUS.
