Small hometown spot with a warm welcome touch of southern hospitality! Super helpful waitress! The breakfast was literally amazing!! Fried fish!! Coated & fried to perfection! Perfect eggs & hash browns! But those biscuits!! Heaven!! Plenty of parking!! Definitely will be back !

Very busy restaurant on a Saturday morning. We stopped by here before heading to the national waterpark not far from the restaurant. Typical diner with good portion and basic breakfast foods like omelettes and pancakes. I ordered the Greek omelette with hashbrowns and it was plenty of food. Attentive staff and clean restaurant. Good prices.

I absolutely loved eating lunch at this nostalgic place. The wait staff was fantastic and the food was great. I ordered the fish and received it hot and fresh. You should try this old fashion diner. The welcome you receive makes you feel happy.

Before looked great but was inedible!!! DIRTY OIL EVERYTHING!

Omg I really want to know what people eat here? Our food was TERRIBLE everything tasted like you were chewing on dirty oil. I have never experienced this in my entire life. Terrible is a nice word for the food. We left hungry and stopped at Chic Fil A. Ok sorry not sorry but it was inedible and disgusting The hashbrowns tasted like chewing on plastic oil, the corn beef hash tasted like textured dirty oil, the eggs tasted like oil eggs, the turkey sausage tasted like oil meat, the grits even tasted Greasy. HORRIBLE. I'm not Exaggerating one bit. We have never walked out of a restaurant and not ate our food, EVER!!!!!!! Trust me don't get me wrong I love fried food and all greasy shit but this was not greasy shit it literally tasted like you were eating dirty grease on a fork!

    yep...

the boss is out today so I have time for a better breakfast :-) feels like a different time and place: a dozen or so chrome wrapped tables in a sea of shiny vinyl seats and booths, light but steady business at 8:00 but the day is half over; waitresses are chatty with the regulars and attentive to strangers, no danger of neglect here. $10 will get you all breakfasted up plus a tip with change for pinball if there was, but there ain't. Corned beef hash, two eggs, and taters fill a plate plus a biscuit on the side and a steady supply of coffee... Corned beefs are properly browned and crispy and layed up against sunny-side eggs with browned hash browns opposite. Biscuit was light and fluffy and warm and once again I am a member of the clean plate club :-)

Shuffletown is definitely a "hole in the wall" type restaurant, but this is where many gems are found. The food was ok, nothing special, but the service was good. The food is inexpensive as well. Give them a try if you are ever in the area.

I think I ordered the elevated egg sandwich, and remember it being good, the egg being well prepared. I did feel the prices were a little high. We decided to wait it out, but we ended up waiting longer than 40mins. I know that the employees can't control when customers get done with their food, but for a good 15 minutes about 5 tables sat vacant while dirty, as they could have cleaned those tables and got the waiting parties seated. Me and my grandmother both love the lemon ricotta pancakes. No matter what day or time it is, they always hit the spot. You can tell that they are made from scratch, as they are not rubbery. The thought of ricotta in a pancake can turn some people away, but all it really does is adds delicacy (makes the pancake tender (if that makes sense)). They usually have soft scrambled eggs, but today they were a bit more of a hard scramble and had trouble cutting a bite with a fork. The bacon this time was so hard that it wouldn't really bend like normal bacon would. I would have rather waited a couple more minutes for some better bacon. They do have a drink called the "Pineapple Express" that is always good. I can't really describe the flavor, but I recommend you try it. You'll have to taste for yourself! As a summary, this First Watch is usually great, but this time it was a miss. I wish that they would be more consistent with the quality of the food AND the service, as some servers act like they don't want to be there while others are great.

The hubby ordered Cajun shrimp loved the flavor, but the sauce was a bit too rich and it became too much to handle after a few bites, Our waitress, an absolute gem!!! We wrapped things up with peach cobbler which was more miss than hit - we're crust people, and this was light on the breading and had a mysterious aftertaste that we couldn't quite pin down. This place dates back to the 1960's and they have worked to maintain the feel of that time. Like many others, I grew up in small town American in the 1950 and 1960's You walk back and it's a throw back in time to when we were younger. The crowd is older but like me, most are trying to experience a time long since gone. You walk it the door and order from the counter, and they give you a cup for your drink and a tent for your table. I ordered the LottaBBQ which is sliced BBQ along with a side of Mozzarella Sticks. The slice BBQ was very good but came with a Lexington Style (tomato based) Sauce on the side. At least it was on the side. I prefer my BBQ with an Eastern NC Pepper Vinegar Sauce. I had asked to hold off on the Slaw which is characteristic but not because of the taste. Most places in the Carolinas who served slaw on burgers, hot dogs and BBQ call it Carolina Style. My problem is that Slaw starts to exude Cabbage Juice in about an hour and your generally end up with a Soggy Sandwich which I do not like so generally I tell them to just hold off on it. I also ordered Mozzarella Sticks on the side with Marinara Sauce. Generally pretty good except they were cold. Love the retro feel and I feel I was back in HS in Brevard NC back in the 1960"s In aback is covered area that houses a lot of cars. I suspect at one time this was a drive in and may have even had car hops but only speculation on my part. Food is great and again I love the atmosphere. Fun place to have lunch.

This visit didn't ruin Jekyll & Hyde for me--but it definitely confirmed that consistency is not…read moretheir strong suit. I'd been here once before late night in the taproom with the smaller bar menu. That experience was fine. Not amazing, not bad--decent food, decent drinks, decent service. Very low-key and very different from this visit. So when we were nearby again before heading out to see Christmas lights, it felt like an easy, familiar option. Unfortunately, this time was a completely different story. Service was extremely slow from the start. It took nearly 30 minutes just to get drinks and an appetizer, and water refills were basically nonexistent. I eventually got up and refilled our water myself while watching the server refill other tables. We were there for almost 2.5 hours, which felt excessive given the pace and crowd level. Food was all over the place. Three meals had to be sent back. My BLT showed up with maybe two strips of limp bacon, soggy toast, wilted lettuce, and red peppers instead of the onions I asked for. Rather than remaking it, they just brought out two more equally limp strips of bacon. Two burgers ordered medium/medium-rare came out well done--even though the menu clearly shows doneness levels with photos, which made that miss even more confusing. On the bright side, the potato soup was excellent--probably the best thing we had--but it arrived lukewarm after a long wait. Other dishes like the scallops, Cajun Alfredo, and chicken sandwich were genuinely good, which just added to the confusion. A manager did drop off food and briefly acknowledge the issues, but there was no real apology or follow-up. I don't expect comps, but with this many problems and slow service, the lack of accountability was noticeable. Used plates from appetizers and sides that were clearly finished sat on the table for most of the meal. When dishes were cleared, the server often asked people who were still actively eating rather than removing the empty or stacked plates that were ready to go, which only added to the overall lack of attention and awareness. Between the inconsistent food, very slow service, and an overall lack of attention to detail, this visit just didn't work. It seems like one of those places where you might get a great meal--or you might spend hours wondering what went wrong. For now, it's firmly in the meh, proceed with caution category for me.
