Don't choose a book by its cover. From the outside it doesn't look like much. Even when walking in it's not even a warm fuzzy feeling. But the service and food were delicious. Coffee was good and staff very friendly. That southern charm. Prices are reasonably and I really liked how the silverware was in plastic wrap. Give it a try. Yummy grits!!

Fried flounder...fried squash...green beans and hushpuppies

I fell in love with this place but they have let me down too many times...squash and hushpuppies were black...fish was clearly refried...so hard it snapped like a cracker...manager immediately told me that i would have to contact DD and apologized..I got my money back but wanted her to know that her employees actually served this crap to a customer...I love their green beans but threw them away too...this place has so much potential...their vegetables are so good but they need to do better...the cornbread is normally missing...as it was yesterday...I'm sad to say that after many bad meals I will never order from them again...I really didn't want to put them on blast but yesterdays meal was just so unbelievable...sad part is I was so hungry I still tried to eat some of it but it was just too bad/burned...I had to order another meal...

This is what was in my box! Is this a joke?

How does a restaurant sell home fries that look like baby home fries? Horrible shame. Eggs and bacon good. But don't waste your money there. The Cook doesn't know that you don't serve crumbs of home fries.

My turkey and dressing lunch with squash casserole and macaroni salad. Yes I like pepper. My boyfriend's pancakes included.

Nice little dive in Mt. Holly! Great breakfast and lunches. We usually visit at least once a week. Quick service and friendly people too.

Newly remodeled. Great service Food came out hot and delicious. Will be coming here again soon.

BBQ sandwich, shrimp plate, kids chicken tenders in the back.

Very friendly staff. Food about what you'd expect in small town grill. A good place to meet friends.

This place is awful. Even the Mountain Dew tasted musty. AVOID! Owner is super rude on top of it all. Take your money else where!

A solid brunch place!…read more Stopped in on a drive through Charlotte, looking for a filling and nutritious meal rather than fast food. I think I ordered the elevated egg sandwich, and remember it being good, the egg being well prepared. I did feel the prices were a little high. But it was bustling midday on a Saturday, and I felt lucky to get a table! The menu is extensive and it's clearly popular for a reason!

This is usually a GOOD First Watch, but unfortunately this time we experienced some issues…read more We walked up at about 10:00AM to come get some breakfast on a Sunday morning, but realized there was a 40min wait. We decided to wait it out, but we ended up waiting longer than 40mins. I know that the employees can't control when customers get done with their food, but for a good 15 minutes about 5 tables sat vacant while dirty, as they could have cleaned those tables and got the waiting parties seated. Me and my grandmother both love the lemon ricotta pancakes. No matter what day or time it is, they always hit the spot. You can tell that they are made from scratch, as they are not rubbery. The thought of ricotta in a pancake can turn some people away, but all it really does is adds delicacy (makes the pancake tender (if that makes sense)). They usually have soft scrambled eggs, but today they were a bit more of a hard scramble and had trouble cutting a bite with a fork. The bacon this time was so hard that it wouldn't really bend like normal bacon would. I would have rather waited a couple more minutes for some better bacon. They do have a drink called the "Pineapple Express" that is always good. I can't really describe the flavor, but I recommend you try it. You'll have to taste for yourself! As a summary, this First Watch is usually great, but this time it was a miss. I wish that they would be more consistent with the quality of the food AND the service, as some servers act like they don't want to be there while others are great.

But the staff didnt need them they have the charm and personality that makes you look forward to the next visit. Located in a 50 style drive in hamburger stand with a wide space dining area with outside seating. Not like the modern fake built to looklike we see now. The bbq pork was good not over smoked, you can taste the meat and very tasty and moist. Went for the burgers that i had heard local chatter about, so now i have a good excuse to come back.

This place dates back to the 1960's and they have worked to maintain the feel of that time. Like many others, I grew up in small town American in the 1950 and 1960's You walk back and it's a throw back in time to when we were younger. The crowd is older but like me, most are trying to experience a time long since gone. You walk it the door and order from the counter, and they give you a cup for your drink and a tent for your table. I ordered the LottaBBQ which is sliced BBQ along with a side of Mozzarella Sticks. The slice BBQ was very good but came with a Lexington Style (tomato based) Sauce on the side. At least it was on the side. I prefer my BBQ with an Eastern NC Pepper Vinegar Sauce. I had asked to hold off on the Slaw which is characteristic but not because of the taste. Most places in the Carolinas who served slaw on burgers, hot dogs and BBQ call it Carolina Style. My problem is that Slaw starts to exude Cabbage Juice in about an hour and your generally end up with a Soggy Sandwich which I do not like so generally I tell them to just hold off on it. I also ordered Mozzarella Sticks on the side with Marinara Sauce. Generally pretty good except they were cold. Love the retro feel and I feel I was back in HS in Brevard NC back in the 1960"s In aback is covered area that houses a lot of cars. I suspect at one time this was a drive in and may have even had car hops but only speculation on my part. Food is great and again I love the atmosphere. Fun place to have lunch.

We were in town for an event and decided to have an early dinner at Nellie's…read more This place has a friendly staff, great ambiance and good food. This is our second visit here, and our first time with the dinner menu. There were lots of great choices! We tried the hush puppies appetizer and the deviled eggs to start. Great presentation and delicious. For entrees we went with the chicken and gravy, fish tacos and the love bug smash burger. Huge portions and really really good. We were very full afterward. We wanted to have a little more leisurely time there, maybe try a dessert, but we had to be at an event, so there was a time constraint. Overall, this is a great spot in downtown Belmont. Also, this is Jonas family owned restaurant so check out all the music memorabilia by the restrooms.

My wife and I recently visited Nellie's Southern Kitchen, and unfortunately our experience was…read moredisappointing overall. We started with the pimento cheese fries, which were easily the highlight of the meal. They were flavorful, well-prepared, and set a great first impression. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The service was noticeably slow, and our food took quite a while to arrive. I ordered the fried chicken, and it was significantly overcooked. The chicken was dry, and the breading was so dark it was just shy of being burnt. The mashed potatoes on the side were good, but they couldn't make up for the quality of the main dish. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with roasted carrots. The steak itself was quite good, but the carrots never arrived with the meal. They were brought out long after we had finished eating, which made them feel like an afterthought. For dessert, my wife chose the peach cobbler. It appeared to be served with ice cream, but by the time it reached the table, the ice cream had completely melted. The dessert looked more like peach cobbler floating in a bowl of melted ice cream than a properly plated dessert. Whether it sat too long before being served or was prepared incorrectly, it was not particularly appealing. The one bright spot throughout the evening was our server. He was attentive, checked on us regularly, and kept our drinks refilled. Unfortunately, good service alone wasn't enough to overcome the slow pace and disappointing food quality. Based on this visit, the overall dining experience was subpar. Aside from the pimento cheese fries and a few individual items, the meal did not live up to expectations.
