As everyone has said, come here for the view! We had a few drinks on the outside deck. They have some interesting cocktails on their list. Not too many choices of beer unfortunately. Plenty of wines. Most of the drinks are pretty pricey, as you would expect from a place like this. We did not have any of the food, since it was mostly just snacks and finger food. If you come for the sunset, be aware that the wind can pick up quite a bit and it does get chilly outside. They unfortunately don't have any blankets available. Would have made it perfect. read more

This is the bar and restaurant atop of the William Vale. Went there after an afternoon around Williamsburg. The view from the outside balcony is amazing though it is not for a faint of heart in the dark because you can barely see the edge of the building with the glass "railing". Manhattan can be seen in all its glory from the east side. And that makes it all worth it even if the food is just OK. Not spectacular but totally edible. Can't say I would find any items better than others but then again we didn't go there for the food, mostly for drinks and views. It's a nice location to go with friends to have a good time. read more

Views. For. Days. Tourist or resident, you gotta put this place on your list. Or if you live in the city and get visitors, take them here!! We went around 12pm on a BEAUTIFUL September day. It was busy but plenty of tables were still available for us. You can also just enjoy the bar area if that's more your scene as the food is quite pricey and fancy for even my taste buds. We went with mimosas to start then switched to just champagne because why not! For bites we had the octopus skewers and potato skins. Like I said above, very fancy and very small portions. But once again, you're paying for the view and the one million photos you will likely take. Service staff were attentive but don't get a table unless you're willing to order a couple drinks and food or they will roll their eyes and try to get you to leave to sit other customers willing to foot the pricey bill. Super easy to get to from the L train if you're in Manhattan! Sunset or daytime in the summer and this place will be bumping. I recommend going early enough that you won't have to wait to long with the bouncer at the bottom of the hotel. read more

Great spot for a date. Great rooftop views all around especially on the upper level. Apps were great main courses not so much. We really enjoyed the calamari portion could have been a tab more for the price but you're paying for the view. read more

Place is okay for the view and to unwind after work, a little pricey. The food is good, and drinks are strong ! Would recommend this as a summer spot not a winter. read more

Mediocre and overpriced food. Kitch crowd. It seems to me that they are Only living off the view.

I ended up modifying my reservation several times but manager Sam and other stuff accommodate it perfectly. The whole stuff here is outstanding!! The view is beautiful over looking Manhattan and food was very great!! Thank you!! read more

Worst service I have ever had. Were the first 10 people at the bar with a reservation and had to wait 30 minutes just to go up an elevator. When we finally got up, we were then told to wait in a hot crowded line. We were not told this would be the case. Rooftop bar was not even open. Entire staff incompetent or liars. read more

Believe the hype you read of West-light on Yelp. The view are absolutely breathtaking from wherever you may sit or stand. Since I went on a Sunday the line to the elevator was fairly short with practically no wait time. When I was leaving I did see a build up of people on the inside line as well as outside. The most obvious con was the cost! 41 bucks for two drinks is a bit much. Which brings me to my other point, given that the drinks are costly shouldn't it be served in glassware as opposed to plastic cups? The other con is that a reservation is needed for tables which means u may stand for the duration of your stay. read more

Great view and good drinks, excellent scenery of the city... but I would not come here just for the food. Appetizers were okay and portions were incredibly small. We had the spiced chicken empanadas (good), potato skins (wouldn't recommend- very small portion) and the pork tacos. Westlight itself has both an enclosed and outdoor section- in case it rains (which it did when we were there). Service was not good but I think that it was just our waitress, as we saw other servers constantly checking other tables. read more

My friend and I came here for an early dinner to watch the sunset. We had an amazing server who was on point bringing out our drinks and food fairly quickly. We ordered the seared octopus skewers, ceviche, and the herb fries. The herb fries might have been my favorite... just couldn't stop eating them! We also ordered the strawberry shortcake desert. We were so surprised when a plate with hot pink sprinkles and and hot pink wrapped desert came out. It was amazing! read more

Views!!!! The view here is amazing. There's two levels outside with a bar on the top floor. Food was just ok. Pricey but I guess you're always gonna get pricey food when the place looks nice. I did wish the burger came with fries though. read more

This place is simply amazing. The views are incredible !!!!! It's more about the views and drinks than food even though the food was great it's mostly small bites. I had the French fries which were light and crisp, the shrimp dumplings which I really loved , and the blueberry cake it was good too. I also had about 3 bottles of champagne with the people I was with. I'd have to say the bottle prices weren't bad. I would definitely come back. read more

This place was confusing to find but after asking around finally I got to the entrance of the I'm guessing hotel / rooftop restaurant lobby. Came here for my best friends 30 birthday to celebrate life! First thing I noticed was a great welcoming staff and that made me comfortable to relax and enjoy the great lighting of these big open area looking out at the city. The food menu have great selections of delicious treats which myself and my friend devoured immediately to order another round with some good wine. It was taking a little too long to come out but our waiter did his thing and just got us someone's order since I guess they was not nice I'm guessing but he blessed us with great service. I'm planning to come back here again to part take in some good food and scenery! Thank you. read more

I reached out to get a reservation for a friends birthday which looked booked on their calendar. The manager was very kind enough to put us in for 9 pm spot. The drinks were amazing and definitely worth the price. The food was good and best of all - the view was great. It is waaaaay better in person. I will definitely come back here before it gets chilly. Parking is also available for those driving. read more

A nice spot for a few drinks and some snacks. I got a glass of wine and my friend and I shared some fries. The view is beautiful. We were here right before sunset and you catch a great sight of the city. We sat in doors since it was on the windy side, but outdoor seating looked great as well - would definitely try it next time I return. They were crowded but everyone who worked here was super attentive. read more

Beautiful rooftop of the William Vale in Williamsburg - make a reservation just before sunset for the best views. My friend and I weren't able to be seated outside despite having a reservation, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise. We got a center table indoors which allowed us to take in the view but also have some more privacy and shelter from the wind outside :) Surprisingly, the food was better and service was friendlier than we expected. We ordered the tempura bass buns, crispy potato skins, chicken empanadas, duck tacos, and fries (yes, we were super hungry). I highly recommend all of them, as everything was flavorful and fresh. The crispy potato skins were incredible, especially with the caviar on top. Westlight also has an expansive and creative cocktails menu. The Lavender Lake and New Wave were delicious. All in all, a beautiful space to relax and take in the gorgeous NYC views. read more

You're paying for the view and the vibes. The drinks are expensive and marginal at best. We had one drink here and decided to move on.

This was one of the highlights of me and my boyfriends trip to NYC. The views were amazing, cocktails strong, chairs were comfortable and waiter was attentive. Get there for the sunset, make a reservation and get a little tipsy. You won't regret it. read more

Went to the bar with some friends on Sunday around 4:50pm and we got a seat for six. We weren't sure if one of our friends were coming but he ended up coming through. After ordering our drinks and 20 minutes of chatting, the girl at the front came over and talked to us in a rude manner about our 7th person and said that we had to do a $1000 minimum. I wouldn't really think anything of it and just leave but her attitude towards us is inexcusable. Our waitress was nice though and said sorry we couldn't stay. Overall experience wasn't great besides the view. Drinks were mediocre at best. Ended up going to a different bar with way better drinks and vibes. read more

This was my first "rooftop bar" in NYC and I was amazed by the views especially the sunset views! Our server was nice and we were seated at at the outdoor area. It seems that there are two outdoor areas. The one we were in are the usual tables and chairs or tables with lounge chairs and couches. The stairs going one floor up is more chill with lounge chairs and 'grassy' areas where people can just sit on. It was awesome. We ordered a tuna tartare and some cocktails (tequila based for me) and were all quite great. Really chill vibe here. read more

Williamsburg has a lot of great restaurants but the Westlight is by far the best! Amazing views, great food & nice vibe! We were able to make a day off reservation for for a late dinner at 10 PM. We waited a few minutes to catch the elevator up to the rooftop but once we reached the wait was worth it. Beautiful 360 views you can see the 59th St. bridge and as far out as a Long Island. Service was prompt and attentive. The menu has an interesting mix of bites and small plates. We decided to go with the duck tacos, grilled beef short rib and tempura Seabass bao. Everything was very delicious hot and came out pretty quickly. The short rib was tender and paired with kimchi coleslaw and white rice. The duck on the tacos were shredded and marinated. And wow, those Seabass buns delicious! The sea bass was perfectly crispy and added a nice contrast to the sweet chewy bao. Tooth groups of hazelnut ice cream and a pot of mint tea round off the meal. The ice cream had swirls of chocolate in pieces of hazelnut in it it reminded me of a Ferro Rocher chocolate ! Great place will definitely be back. read more

I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday evening. The rooftop opens at 4 pm but when we got there around 4:15 pm, there was already a long for the rooftop bar. We waited for about 30 minutes (maybe a little more because there is another line inside for the elevator) but we finally made it to the rooftop. The ambiance inside the bar is amazing: there are candlelit tables, cool patterns in the interior, and a buzzing crowd. Although I didn't get a drink (had plans for drinks later at night), all my other friends ordered a drink each and then headed outside for the wondrous view. The view definitely does not disappoint and makes for great pictures! The weather was a bit cloudy but I was able to make out all the buildings in sight. Everyone enjoyed their drinks (they did say drinks were a bit pricey) and we had an enjoyable time catching up with each other. Everyone on the rooftop was super friendly and gave off good vibes. Overall, I definitely recommend this rooftop bar if you are in the area. I will definitely be back in the nighttime to take pictures of and experience the wonderful NYC skyline! read more

Beautiful place, gorgeous view! Amazing cocktails, BUT service sucks! My friend got married today and we went to the rooftop bar, to enjoy the view and celebrate. Not that any of the staff personnel said congratulations, but the bartender didn't notice us for like 10 minutes. No hi, no how are you, nothing.... that's disappointing! When you go to $$$ place, you expect service! Every time we were finished with the drinks, we had to ask for the refill, not a single person at the bar offered us another round, and we had like 3-4! Either the personal is too judgmental or idk what's wrong with them. But hopefully the management can explain basic manners, not to mention the service etiquette. P.S. it's Monday, raining, not busy! read more

Love the view and the drinks, didn't get to try their food yet. This place has a line that can be long at times since they only use one elevator to go up and down. For you who smoke, forget it. Can't smoke up there. They have a security going round and round every couple minutes to make sure no one lit a cig. I mean they could've put a sign "no smoking" then people will know is a non-smoking environment, instead of having this security guys going around keep checking people. Not efficient I feel. My best time to go is after 3pm and before sunset :) the view is just breath-taking. One thing I can suggest them is to open a smaller bar outside so people can easily get their drinks as supposed having every body going to 1 bar which located inside. read more

Easily the best views of the Manhattan skyline. Really fun atmosphere, breathtaking views, and delicious food. It's hard to say anything bad about this place. The crowd varies in age until after about 8:00 when it starts to turn into more of a nightclub. (If you have underage people in your party you'll need to leave by 9:00). Recommend you make reservations since there's a long line to get in. Also try to time it with the sunset for amazing shots. We came at 7:00 and it was perfect timing. There's a bar menu with small bites. Strongly recommend the guacamole and ceviche. The portions are VERY small. Definitely don't expect a full meal here. This is more of a "drink & enjoy the view" kind of place. The outside wraparound patio is packed with people standing so be aware to deal with that if you have an outside table. Definitely a party atmosphere. Perfect for a group or birthday. read more

I've been to Westlight a few times already and the atmosphere is amazing. The view is one of my favorites when it comes to rooftop bars, and the atmosphere is classy. We ordered a cocktail that wasn't on the menu itself but still was on the online menu and the staff made it for us. We've ordered bottles of Champagne here and the sommelier was accommodating and helpful. The only reason I'd give Westlight three stars is that the service can be incredibly slow. Yes, it gets crowded, but oftentimes you have to wait at the bar for over thirty minutes to be helped. I don't mind the wait getting in since there is really no way around it, but I wish there was more attentive and faster service once you actually got into the bar area. There is a line to get in during peak times, and yes you'll be waiting for a while, but it's definitely worth it if you want to splurge for a good view. read more

FIVE STARS is for the view and vest place to have a drink! I don't recommend food here. See below Drinks are not badly priced by NY standards - less than $20 a cocktail. We pregamed at a dive bar around the corner while we waited in our reservation. Sitting at a prime table overlooking the NY skyline was maybe my NY highlight. It was mesmerizing. I spoke with locals who said you can't beat the experience in the city. I highly recommend going even if you just have a drink at the bar and walk outside to be in awe. It was nice to have one of the few tables with uninterrupted view but if not planning ahead don't skip on account if no reservation. My complaint is the food. They don't have any real food and we ordered potato skins and it was almost $20 for 5 bites( I get small servings but potatoes are cheap!) and they were weird with tiny bit of almost decorative caviar and some hollandaise sauce. read more

Don't go unless you have reservations. We were given a 30 minute wait just for a drink.

Love this little high rise haven. Views, drinks, food, atmosphere are all a 10! Perfect for a date night or just a hang with friends

Great views of the city but the drinks were awful! we got two different drinks and both tasted like really bad mixers (like the overly sweet/sour margarita mix flavor). We only stayed to take pictures and left the drinks intact. read more

Great view! WOW! They really nailed that. I would come for just the view. When we arrived, we were told that there are 20 parties in front of us for a table. We were going to order drinks at the bar and just stand outside. We didn't even get to order at the bar before we were told that table was ready for our party of 7. Ok? Great but a little misleading before... Seats were comfortable and spacious. Of no fault of theirs, it was quite windy for an August night so we were all a bit freezing and cut the night short but did enjoy our time. A friend said the burger was really good and I loved the fries. We had two bottles of wine and it wasn't too expensive as I would expect from a place like this. I am sure ordering separate cocktails would've been more. Great place to chill if you are in the area. The whole building structure was beautiful and modern. We went in west light to celebrate my 40th birthday. My boyfriend had called/message your restaurant multiple times to surprise me.. We waited more than 45 minutes to get served a birthday cake . It arrived without a candle. You serve a disgusting, hard bread tres leches with melted ice cream. Instead of giving us new dessert, the server served it back to us and said it was comp. We weren't asking for any comp but a better service and product, who serves melted ice cream and a hard old tasting bread? I hope This message goes toChef Andrew Carmellini, Luke Ostrom & Josh Pickar, know what's happening in your kitchen and what you are serving. It's so disgusting. I was very skeptic coming to this restaurant, and I know it will be a waste but my boyfriend was excited to have dinner with a view. read more

The view, the view and the view are the reasons to come here. You can get a drink and just soak in the stunning view of Manhattan. Even if there's a wait, they'll let you walk out on the deck and enjoy the view and a drink you can order from the bar, which is all you really wanted anyway. We wound up doing that for an hour while we watch sunset and the we finally got a seat where we had a few small bites (that I don't remember other than they were perfectly acceptable) while the last rays of light settled. Again, I'm not sure if I'd come here for the drinks or food by itself--especially given the prices, but with the view, it's totally, totally worth it. read more
