Overall, you can't go wrong with any of their drinks. Really the view and ambiance is what you're really here for and the drinks are the icing on top. We made reservations much in advance Outside you have a 360 view of the city and you're up on the 64th floor. Location is a little confusing at first. You need to enter the building and find signs that take you to the elevator lobby. Once they escort you up, you walk through the 360 view Michelin restaurant, then go up a short flight of stairs to get to Overstory Maravilla: not too sweet and smooth In the clouds In the clouds: comes with a yummy white chocolate to drink with. Light carbonation mix made me feel like I was on a cloud for sure SDG made mezcal taste good to me and I'm not a fan of mezcal. Drink reminded me of honey bbq but pleasant Pink tuxedo was pleasant and spirit forward but wasn't my favorite. Service was fine, I'd sit at the bar next time! Btw they have the best spelling bathroom of all time

Probably the best view of all New York. Would go for a drink just for the view. They have an amazing restaurant on the second floor which was closed when I went. Got there around 1030'pm thinking I would get right in but didn't make it in until 1230. Make sure you put your name in the list and grab a drink elsewhere while you wait. They have bites and drinks. We had 3 differed drinks and they were all delicious my favorite was jasmine sour as a non alcoholic and easy money for alcoholic. All drinks are between $12-$26. Servers were very kind but the service was very slow.

Walked in at 6:45 PM on a Friday and there was no wait. Definitely worth going before sundown, because duh, the sunset. Cold Snap cocktail was merely good, but the Salty Dog was excellent. Drinks are a 4; views bring it to a 5. The photos say it all.

First, I can't believe I never knew this place existed before this. My friends were walking around the financial district and wanted to check out this rooftop bar. We were a party of eight with no reservations. The staff at the front desk asked us to put a deposit down for a one drink minimum per person which was not bad. We went on the elevator and were guided upstairs. As you exit the elevator and walk onto the rooftop you get a wonderful view of the whole city. We could see all of downtown and Brooklyn. It was amazing. You instantly feel that you are all the way up to the 64th floor. If you are afraid of heights this might not be the best place for you. The drinks here were $30 each. That is crazy high for a drink but you are paying for the location and the view. The staff took a long time to bring over the drinks. When they finally came by we were disappointed. It was a very light watered down drink with a large ice cube in the middle. You didn't even feel anything after finishing it. For $30 I wanted to be at least buzzed after. It was our first time here so I can't compare it to anything else. The staff said at night it does get more exciting. I would probably come back here if they did not require a minimum and had much stronger drinks. The only great part of this location was the view. Everything else was just okay.

It will be expensive. It will be crowded. But it will be magical! The combination of the extraordinary views, the art deco motif, the delicious food, and the attentive service makes this place a winner all Around. Of course, make reservations at least a few days in advance or expect to wait upwards of 60 minutes for an opening when you arrive. The lobby of the building harkens back to the swinging 1920's and has a very Great Gatsby feeling. Worth a few pics before you ascend to the roof! Once at the roof, look for the side facing the Brooklyn bridge which offers the best views and some shade during the afternoon! For food, we highly recommend the chicken and biscuits. It's just Whoa. And the grilled cheese was next level, very savory and nuanced!

No complaints. We came around 5:30 and there was no wait. You're brought up by the staff in the elevator. The view is amazing and probably even better if you can catch the sunset and into the night. The drinks were delicious and perfectly sweetened. We got a few light bites and they were fun and tasty. The taquitos were crispy and just fun casual contrast to the atmosphere. My drink had an oishii strawberry and it was so good. Would come back for that drink!

The views are amazing!! Had no reservations but decided to try them on a Friday night after dining at crown shy. They had some space and we were allowed to go up. From the moment you exit the elevator on the 63rd floor you are greeted by someone who takes you to your table. The 63rd floor is for dining and 64th is for drinks only. The space is intimate and the drinks are artisanal but the views is what we really look at. You can see the whole of Brooklyn, Manhattan and queens. It's abut scary for me but you'll never get those views any where else.

Date: Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 Time: 5:15pm Party of: 4 Reservation Made: via Resy a few days prior Deposit: INDOOR SEATING ($75) x4 *Duck Taquitos ($25) *Popcorn ($9) *Easy Money ($26) x2 *Hojicha Tonic ($16) *Pink Tuxedo ($25) *In The Clouds ($27) *Terroir Old Fashioned ($27) *Maravilla ($30) *New York, New York ($26) *Uni Toast ($50) *Dips ($18) I've always wanted to go to Overstory. Any time we were in NYC, we were not really in the area, so it was harder to plan and coordinate. This time, we were going to be around here anyways, so I made a rezzie. You have to spend a min of $75 each when booking a table which they charge when you made the reservation. Understandable as this spot is tiny. They need to guarantee themselves the amount per head. Cocktails were as expected. Fun and pricey. I wanted something light, so got the pink tuxedo to start. I kinda wished it were fizzy, but otherwise, it was a good first drink. My follow up was the new york, new york. I wasn't sure how I felt about the description - whiskey, vermouth, red wine, peppercorn, smoked tea, but it was okay. Red wine might not a thing I like in my whisky cocktails. So the reason to come here? The views of course! It was a windy day so rather chilly outside, but you have to go and get your photo ops. So pretty! Great experience. Glad I was able to go. REVIEW #3766

I think this place has great vibes, great drinks and great service. I've been here twice and my only issue is that we were gifted a gift card for Overstory and with their minimum spend, we aren't allowed to use the gift card unless we're over whatever the minimum is. So since we were gifted $50, when we spent $400 on our party of four, none of the spend was eligible for usage with a gift card. I think this policy is a bit ridiculous since the gift card is essentially cash so the minimum shouldn't even apply.

Ambiance, service and cocktails 10/10/10. I ordered I think it was the SDG. Tasted like a mango mezcal margarita. Absolutely delicious and tasted and looked just like a speak easy cocktail. The cocktails are crafted very sophisticatedly. The views from outside are spectacular. Unfortunately, there's a discreet speak easy vibe inside so you can barely see the view. Why would they not have floor to ceiling windows is the question? That makes this a great summer spot cause in the winter it's too cold to go outside. I didn't try the food. Not aware of them having a happy hour but i do believe there's a two drink minimum so youre PAYING for the view.

Our party of 3 was able to get in with no wait around 11. Each guest was required to get a drink per bar rules. Views from the rooftop and cocktails were all great! I can't remember the name of the cocktail I got but it was gorgeous in a pretty red glass with a little white chocolate on top to nibble as I drank. The bartenders were funny and our popcorn was great to snack on while we chatted.

Drinks are a tad overpriced but they're made well and are good. The views at the top are amazing so I can see them upcharging on the drinks a bit for you to get that level of 360 view. Ordered 4 drinks and it was about 30-35 a drink pretty much. No complaints on each drink I tried other than the hefty price. Would definitely make a resy before coming however as the wait was about a hr at 11pm. The bar is pretty small so if you want a table it could be a long wait.

Three-star pricing, four-star drinks, and five-star views. I'll fully admit that I don't understand the hype that's landed Overstory on so many "best of" bar lists. Don't get me wrong, I think it's solid; I can just rattle off a whole list of other cocktail lounges I'd rather revisit before prioritizing a return trip here. $70 for two good-but-not-great cocktails still feels awfully steep. Note, that's for open seating (which seems to mean outdoor seating or indoor standing room). As I understand, reserved table seating requires a $75 minimum spend per head. On the upside, it seems like you can achieve this with a mere two drinks, assuming tax and tip are included. They also offer some light bites (which we didn't try), so you can probably get away with a cocktail and a snack to hit that threshold. Also, my experience is likely colored by the fact that we visited during an historically cold May in NYC. It was so chilly and blustery that--even with a jacket on--it was unpleasant to be out on the wraparound deck for long. On a balmier evening, I could imagine soaking in the balmy breeze for a lazy, lengthy hangout while enjoying the spectacular vantages.

The staff have always been friendly and extremely knowledgeable; it is really handy when you can say you live in San Francisco, what do you have that I can only get out here? You can tell it is a good place in Hell's Kitchen/Times Square when stage hands and actors actually come by after (definitely not between) their shows. They also have whiskeys available here as a sidecar; definitely do not try and order any other liquors, the back of their staff shirt makes that clear. For food, I've only ever had the cheese curds because I obviously have a problem and can't get them at many places in SF. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. My only feedback to them is maybe offer some large format bottle pours on busy nights so people can try some of the more obscure options.

Got a nice dose of dive bar and it was exactly what I was looking for. The place is small, it is loud, there is a good selection of beers on tap and some more on bottles/cans from the fridge. Bartenders are just the right amount of "if you're not a regular you're fine but you're not special" and chatty friendly. What you'd expect from a hole in the wall with decently cheap beer (compared to just a block or two over).

Wine and beer are also on the menu, but the unique cocktails are the big draw. The space is narrow, basically one long bar taking up the entire floor plan. No tables, only stools at the bar for seating. There's literally no space for anything else. While I liked the theme overall, I personally wasn't blown away by my cocktails, and didn't love that they were priced over $20 when there was only soju instead of stronger spirits available. Plus the space is "charming" but maybe I'm getting too old for tiny, grungy East Village bars. Definitely a unique vibe, but if you're not actively seeking out a Japanese-themed bar, I wouldn't call this a must-visit.
