good albeit overpriced cocktail. excellent focaccia randomly. you are paying more for the rooftop bar experience and excellent service. great alternative to taking out of towners to empire state or one world. unique experience. expensive tho - $30+ per cocktail.

We stopped by for drinks after dinner at Crown Shy downstairs and we were able to put ourselves on the waitlist for Overstory while we ate. They staff did their best to time it well so that we could go up to the rooftop bar after dinner and we only waited about 5 min or so. First of all, the interior is gorgeous - art deco style with disco lights throughout, it gives a really nice classy but still fun vibe. Of course, the outside patio is super nice with a good night view of the city. We didn't spend that much time outside as it was fairly cold but I can see why this spot is so well-rated. The drinks at Overstory were a bit of a letdown though. I got the Salty Dog which was frankly just salty and pretty one note. I also tried Easy Money and In The Clouds (which was my favorite) but for the price I would expect the drinks to be a bit more inventive or bold flavorwise.

Top notch top notch top notch! Insane views and insane drinks! We went for a special pop up event where some mixologists from Singapore's Nutmeg & Clove were guess spotting. Service was on point for how insane it was in there. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. The little bites from the food menu were good too. I'd just go for the drinks though. I honestly liked the ones from their menu more than the pop up. Well worth the price!

Overall, you can't go wrong with any of their drinks. Really the view and ambiance is what you're really here for and the drinks are the icing on top. We made reservations much in advance Outside you have a 360 view of the city and you're up on the 64th floor. Location is a little confusing at first. You need to enter the building and find signs that take you to the elevator lobby. Once they escort you up, you walk through the 360 view Michelin restaurant, then go up a short flight of stairs to get to Overstory Maravilla: not too sweet and smooth In the clouds In the clouds: comes with a yummy white chocolate to drink with. Light carbonation mix made me feel like I was on a cloud for sure SDG made mezcal taste good to me and I'm not a fan of mezcal. Drink reminded me of honey bbq but pleasant Pink tuxedo was pleasant and spirit forward but wasn't my favorite. Service was fine, I'd sit at the bar next time! Btw they have the best spelling bathroom of all time

Walked in at 6:45 PM on a Friday and there was no wait. Definitely worth going before sundown, because duh, the sunset. Cold Snap cocktail was merely good, but the Salty Dog was excellent. Drinks are a 4; views bring it to a 5. The photos say it all.

First, I can't believe I never knew this place existed before this. My friends were walking around the financial district and wanted to check out this rooftop bar. We were a party of eight with no reservations. The staff at the front desk asked us to put a deposit down for a one drink minimum per person which was not bad. We went on the elevator and were guided upstairs. As you exit the elevator and walk onto the rooftop you get a wonderful view of the whole city. We could see all of downtown and Brooklyn. It was amazing. You instantly feel that you are all the way up to the 64th floor. If you are afraid of heights this might not be the best place for you. The drinks here were $30 each. That is crazy high for a drink but you are paying for the location and the view. The staff took a long time to bring over the drinks. When they finally came by we were disappointed. It was a very light watered down drink with a large ice cube in the middle. You didn't even feel anything after finishing it. For $30 I wanted to be at least buzzed after. It was our first time here so I can't compare it to anything else. The staff said at night it does get more exciting. I would probably come back here if they did not require a minimum and had much stronger drinks. The only great part of this location was the view. Everything else was just okay.

It will be expensive. It will be crowded. But it will be magical! The combination of the extraordinary views, the art deco motif, the delicious food, and the attentive service makes this place a winner all Around. Of course, make reservations at least a few days in advance or expect to wait upwards of 60 minutes for an opening when you arrive. The lobby of the building harkens back to the swinging 1920's and has a very Great Gatsby feeling. Worth a few pics before you ascend to the roof! Once at the roof, look for the side facing the Brooklyn bridge which offers the best views and some shade during the afternoon! For food, we highly recommend the chicken and biscuits. It's just Whoa. And the grilled cheese was next level, very savory and nuanced!

No complaints. We came around 5:30 and there was no wait. You're brought up by the staff in the elevator. The view is amazing and probably even better if you can catch the sunset and into the night. The drinks were delicious and perfectly sweetened. We got a few light bites and they were fun and tasty. The taquitos were crispy and just fun casual contrast to the atmosphere. My drink had an oishii strawberry and it was so good. Would come back for that drink!

Date: Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 Time: 5:15pm Party of: 4 Reservation Made: via Resy a few days prior Deposit: INDOOR SEATING ($75) x4 *Duck Taquitos ($25) *Popcorn ($9) *Easy Money ($26) x2 *Hojicha Tonic ($16) *Pink Tuxedo ($25) *In The Clouds ($27) *Terroir Old Fashioned ($27) *Maravilla ($30) *New York, New York ($26) *Uni Toast ($50) *Dips ($18) I've always wanted to go to Overstory. Any time we were in NYC, we were not really in the area, so it was harder to plan and coordinate. This time, we were going to be around here anyways, so I made a rezzie. You have to spend a min of $75 each when booking a table which they charge when you made the reservation. Understandable as this spot is tiny. They need to guarantee themselves the amount per head. Cocktails were as expected. Fun and pricey. I wanted something light, so got the pink tuxedo to start. I kinda wished it were fizzy, but otherwise, it was a good first drink. My follow up was the new york, new york. I wasn't sure how I felt about the description - whiskey, vermouth, red wine, peppercorn, smoked tea, but it was okay. Red wine might not a thing I like in my whisky cocktails. So the reason to come here? The views of course! It was a windy day so rather chilly outside, but you have to go and get your photo ops. So pretty! Great experience. Glad I was able to go. REVIEW #3766

Overstory. I love great cocktails. The problem is, they are hard to find. There are only a handful of bars in the U.S. that I consider true happy places--bars I have to visit whenever I am in that city because they transport me somewhere else entirely. Overstory is not just on that list. It is at the top of it, and at the moment, it is my favorite bar I have ever been to. It tops plenty of other lists, too. As of this review, Overstory sits at No. 6 on North America's 50 Best Bars and No. 46 on The World's 50 Best Bars. Honestly, I think it deserves to be much higher on both, but forget the rankings. Let's talk about the bar. The space | Overstory pairs one of the best views in all of New York with a bar program that fully earns the altitude. You enter by taking the long elevator ride up to Saga, the two-Michelin-star restaurant on the floor below, then walk up a curved stairwell to the penthouse level. Crown Shy, its sister restaurant, sits on the ground floor. All three operate under the same ownership, and the whole experience feels polished and intentional from the start when you check in at 70 Pine Street in FiDi. The room itself is gorgeous. Overstory is dimly lit, with a disco ball overhead casting spinning points of light across the space as it turns. The interior is sumptuous and rich, with elegant Art Deco style, a beautiful illuminated main bar, and small intimate tables tucked along the curved back wall. Even the playlist is dialed in just right--modern and energizing, but never intrusive. It is the kind of place that somehow makes everyone in the room feel like a VIP. The drinks | Overstory is not the kind of bar where they just mix ingredients and slide a cocktail across the counter. The team behind the bar--including brilliant mixologists like Atticus and Alisa--are among the best in the country: highly skilled, polished, personable, and real showmen. The menu is deeply developed, with many drinks built from components that take days or even weeks to prepare. A lot of the cocktails are prebatched, not for convenience, but to create layers of flavor, texture, and clarity that would be impossible otherwise. The result is a menu of inventive, meticulously balanced cocktails that feel unlike anything else, often finished with high-end garnishes that actually add something to the drink. A great example is the Easy Money (vodka, coconut, yuzu, lime leaf, soda), a bright, refreshing sparkling cocktail topped with Japanese kinome (not easy to find)--a delicate garnish from the sansho plant that, when chewed, lightly numbs your cheeks and tongue and sends a little electric tingle through your mouth. It is a perfect match for its paired forced-carbonation cocktail. And then there is the Terroir Old Fashioned. I am not traditionally an Old Fashioned person at all, but this is the drink that made me first fall in love with Overstory, changed my mind about the potential of the format, and remains one of my favorite cocktails of all time for good reason. Built with tequila instead of whiskey, then layered with palo santo, Vin Jaune, yellow Chartreuse, and Tilden Salt harvested by the bar team from Fort Tilden in Queens, it is inventive, precise, and unforgettable. It is served with a piece of real honeycomb that you can either let dissolve into the drink for added sweetness or just eat outright. I cannot recommend this cocktail bar enough. It is exactly what I want in a high-end world class bar, and I will make a reservation every time I am in New York for a reason. I love it. I applaud the brilliant work they are doing. Ten out of ten. https://www.instagram.com/overstory For more cocktail bar reviews and photos, follow me on Instagram at @bathboy.drinks: https://www.instagram.com/bathboy.drinks

I think this place has great vibes, great drinks and great service. I've been here twice and my only issue is that we were gifted a gift card for Overstory and with their minimum spend, we aren't allowed to use the gift card unless we're over whatever the minimum is. So since we were gifted $50, when we spent $400 on our party of four, none of the spend was eligible for usage with a gift card. I think this policy is a bit ridiculous since the gift card is essentially cash so the minimum shouldn't even apply.

Probably the best view of all New York. Would go for a drink just for the view. They have an amazing restaurant on the second floor which was closed when I went. Got there around 1030'pm thinking I would get right in but didn't make it in until 1230. Make sure you put your name in the list and grab a drink elsewhere while you wait. They have bites and drinks. We had 3 differed drinks and they were all delicious my favorite was jasmine sour as a non alcoholic and easy money for alcoholic. All drinks are between $12-$26. Servers were very kind but the service was very slow.

Our party of 3 was able to get in with no wait around 11. Each guest was required to get a drink per bar rules. Views from the rooftop and cocktails were all great! I can't remember the name of the cocktail I got but it was gorgeous in a pretty red glass with a little white chocolate on top to nibble as I drank. The bartenders were funny and our popcorn was great to snack on while we chatted.

However, recently I came in and this isn't normal service and I hope it changes. Maybe I met a fluke new bartender that knows nothing about pouring a proper pint. But I bought a specialty can for myself and a pint for my boyfriend. Initially, I asked if they had any red ales or ambers, brown ales and he said we have a lot of nice stouts and porters. My boyfriend is definitely not into dark beers (i wish) but any moron would know an Amber or red ale anything what I mentioned isn't pitch black and sweet as syrup. So I looked at beers on tap for him. He poured me a Czech beer and the foam head was 4 inches at least thick. I was told it's an "experience". And when my boyfriend was also considerably upset he said "it's an experience". I paid $9-11 for an experience of missing half his drink in a smaller sized pour of a normal 14-16 oz mug. He gave back the drink because he was so unhappy with it and he did nothing to remedy the situation. I get you let drinks settle but that's not how your pour a pint at least not in the USA. Wine and beer are also on the menu, but the unique cocktails are the big draw. The space is narrow, basically one long bar taking up the entire floor plan. While I liked the theme overall, I personally wasn't blown away by my cocktails, and didn't love that they were priced over $20 when there was only soju instead of stronger spirits available. Plus the space is "charming" but maybe I'm getting too old for tiny, grungy East Village bars. Definitely a unique vibe, but if you're not actively seeking out a Japanese-themed bar, I wouldn't call this a must-visit.

Taking off a star because I had a weird experience with the people at the front. I'm currently recovering from an injury and I'm in a pretty obvious neck brace. I was visiting with two people who were on their way and would be arriving in about 10-15 minutes and the people at the front told me I couldn't be seated until they arrived. I understand that this is normal protocol, but I pointed out my neck brace and asked if an exception could be made because it's significantly more comfortable for me to sit down (and there was no room at the bar). They said that their manager wouldn't let them do that, and that they couldn't seat me until the rest of my party was there. There were tons of table tables available the entire time and when my friend arrived about 12 minutes later, they seated us, I totally could've sat the whole time and it wouldn't have been a problem. Not the end of the world and I probably could've pushed it harder, but it definitely was a little awkward!
