Great selection of craft beer and great food. Really friendly service, and cool vibe.

The first beer bar I stopped at in New York City was City Beer. Mostly because I was looking for a place that had Messorem on draft and had beer to go. City Beer checked both of those boxes. And with a "short" walk (ok, might have been more like 30 minutes, but who is counting), it was worth the trek there and back for the draft pour and the case of beer to bring back to Minnesota. While perusing the shop for cans to bring home, I had a couple pours. This World Is Fading Away: A Double IPA in Collaboration Between Messorem and Everywhere Beer Co. Brewed with Citra, Citra Cryo, Citra Dynaboost, Riwaka, and Riwaka Cryo. Dunkel Weisse: A Dunkelweizen by Sly Fox Brewing Company Brewed with German Munich and Wheat Malts using a traditional Bavarian Wheat Beer Yeast. ____________

Great place close to grand central for high quality beers of all varieties (18 on tap today). The food options looked good (many types of Melt sandwiches, hot dogs and pretzels with a couple of vegan options). Service is friendly. I've been a few times when in the area and never disappointed.

Best selection of really good beer in NYC! Decent grilled cheese options to complement. Cool small local vibe for the big city!

For a happy hour, has an amazing selection and a great hot dog (with BACON!). There are FRIDGES full of beer options, and an outdoor patio, and imo very well priced 750ml bottles, for all the friends!

Great beer selection!

A nice place to grab a beer and hot dog after work especially if you work near Grand Central Station. They have a couple of freezers inside with different types of beers in stock. I'm a stouts, porter, sours beer person so I was happy to see the large selection they have both on tap and in cans. The hotdog I ordered was great and spicy. French fries weren't overcooked either.

I am game for an outing any day and anytime of the week as long as it's for beer and grilled cheese @citybeernyc Our server was the sweetest guy. We visited just a few minutes after their kitchen closed and requested if we could get the grilled cheese as we were here for just that. He instantly agreed and whipped an amazing one for us. We got their Saints grilled cheese which has 3 cheeses melted with caramelized onions and grilled with cultured butter . The truffle pretzel which has truffle salt and oil was out of the world! Ps: Their grilled cheese is the best I've had in the city! Goes so perfectly with a beer!

Stumbled upon this place walking back from a dinner! TLDR; fantastic selection of craft beer. Would recommend for catching up with a friend! Highlights: knowledgeable and friendly bartender, can order beer and sit in (or outside in their roofed outdoor dining space!) or grab a few cans to go, superb craft beer Beware there is not much seating inside! 80% of the seating is the outdoor section. Beer on tap ranges from $9-$13 but is DELICIOUS. Well worth.

I checked into the Pod 39 Hotel on 4/26. As I went looking for some food and drink; just a left turn from the hotel lobby, I noticed City Beer nearby. It was a rainy evening, and it looked good, and I went in. Here is what I had: GRILLED CHEESE.....................................................................14 Gruyere & Raclette melted between sourdough with cultured-butter sourdough and grilled onions I also enjoyed a couple of Scottish beers, don't remember the brand, sorry. Citybeer.net at 200 East 39th Street NYC.

I came here with my bf and we ordered melts and a few beers. The melts are advertised on the menu to come with chips and cornichons, but when it arrived there was a handful of popcorn and no cornichons. Honestly for $14+ grilled cheeses we were pretty disappointed, though the sandwich itself was tasty. I guess the bar is already pretty high when it's priced like that lol. The waiter did bring a small plate with some chips after I pointed it out (which I appreciate!) but overall I would not recommend spending your money on that menu item. If I decide to go back for food I'd try the pretzel instead. That being said, it's nice to have this beer shop in the neighborhood to grab bottles to go.

I dig this spot, a little less selection than I'm used to at my other joints but this place is super close to home and great in a pinch.

The staff have always been friendly and extremely knowledgeable; it is really handy when you can say you live in San Francisco, what do you have that I can only get out here? You can tell it is a good place in Hell's Kitchen/Times Square when stage hands and actors actually come by after (definitely not between) their shows. They also have whiskeys available here as a sidecar; definitely do not try and order any other liquors, the back of their staff shirt makes that clear. For food, I've only ever had the cheese curds because I obviously have a problem and can't get them at many places in SF. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. My only feedback to them is maybe offer some large format bottle pours on busy nights so people can try some of the more obscure options.

Got a nice dose of dive bar and it was exactly what I was looking for. The place is small, it is loud, there is a good selection of beers on tap and some more on bottles/cans from the fridge. Bartenders are just the right amount of "if you're not a regular you're fine but you're not special" and chatty friendly. What you'd expect from a hole in the wall with decently cheap beer (compared to just a block or two over).

Check-in was quick and easy, and even though it was a full house for a Saturday night, we were still able to find seats without an issue. The space was definitely lively and a bit crowded, but there was still enough room to move around comfortably. Our bartender was really sweet and made great drinks , the cranberry vodka and Long Island were both spot on. We didn't pay extra for the additional glasses to smash, but the six cups included were enough to make the experience fun and satisfying for a casual night. I can see why people would want to buy a full bucket though as it definitely adds to the excitement. The crowd was respectful, and the bathrooms were decently clean, which is always a plus. Overall, a great spot for an stress-relieving, spontaneous night out!

I wish we had the option for a booth especially since my friend is really short but we got a high top. Server was very attentive and transparent. Our original server was on break so we had another server take our drinks, appetizers and entree orders. She brought the drink and appetizer and our main server brought out entrees. I felt they were both great servers and very friendly. We also got dessert, everything was delicious. Food was also reasonably priced. We also were able to use a coupon code for the appetizer which was great. This location is very nice and clean. My only suggestion is to have someone check the downstairs bathroom a bit more. I used both bathrooms and the upstairs one was way cleaner. Otherwise, great experience and staff. I def recommend and will be back

The whole restrauant was booked. I totally understand that as a business it makes more sense to take the larger group. However no reason for you management staff to be completely rude about especially on such short notice. I called to find out a solution as the message said we could show up a half hour later than our original reservations and was transfered to a manager. Who ever the manager was on 5/17/26 at about 8 pm said ya they got the place from 2 pm good luck . I tried to ask if we could show up a halfhour later than planed as the voicemail indicated but he blew it off and was being very rude about the whole situation so if figured I do not want to give this company anymore money moving forward so I found another restrauant. Shame is now I wont visit the one in Texas where I live either.
