It's the biggest hodgepodge design I've witnessed. Additional bummer: This hardware store listed the deck stain I need online, so I drove out only to find they didn't have it. Not that many staff members had masks during the pandemic, the store is cramped, and just has a weird vibe overall. I'm glad this isn't my neighborhood hardware store, and if it was, I'd take the extra few minutes to go down to Euston Hardware instead.

I've brought my pup in here as she continues to need some socialization and it always goes well. One time the clerks had their dog too and they became fast friends. This store really packs quite a bit into it. Of course it won't be as sizable as a Home Depot, but man oh man is the experience world's better. I found every single thing on my list which was great. It's closest size comparison to me would be the Ace in Westport, but hey guess what, you don't have to fear for your life in KC's worst intersection if you come here! It's easy to park in the lot out front, off of the always-busy 75th Street. My kids love it because they have a gumball machine, whoopie cushions, and other classics from back in the day when the world was making real attempts to be fun. I make goblets and bowls, and because I'm fairly new and am not wealthy, I have cheap gouges that I bought on the internet instead of at Woodcraft. I came to the ugly conclusion the other day that I didn't know how to sharpen my tools correctly, so I set out to find someone to get me on the right track. A really young guy named Tyler at Woodcraft is their undisputed lathe expert, so I went to talk to him about my troubles. I expected his time to cost me 20 or 30 bucks, but he put a new edge on the 2 that needed them for free! I will now be able to sharpen correctly from watching him do it. If your in the Overland Park area and you like specialty wood working like lathe projects, go check this place out if you've never been!

They are overpriced on flashlights and some gardening tools, but we have had great luck on everyday tool items. They are also the plug on painters tape. Location: 8/10 HF is never crowded, even during peak times. It's easy to get in and out even though the parking lot is kind of small. It's right on Santa Fe (135th) which is always busy no matter what time of the day. Overall: 9/10 HF is a great place to find super affordable tools that will get you through whatever project you are working on. You can never go wrong with a visit to this location and they are always fully stocked. I recommend.

I'm going to have all my stuff out and need to run to the nearest hardware store. Hartman & Sons is not the nearest hardware store to my house, but it's the one I go to in these situations. I call it in my under $1 store, because I usually spend pocket change buying a screw. At Hartman & Sons, I just walk up to the counter, tell them I need a screw, and they take me where I want to go, quickly and efficiently and, most importantly, with a smile. I've done this over 30 times and every time the result's the same. They recommend and show me the exact thing that I need. They never try to upsell me or make me buy in bulk. If Harman & Sons were reviewing me, I'm sure they would give me 1 star. Because when I'm going to spend $20 or something, I go to Home Depot or Lowe's. I'm the jerk who only uses the store because of their excellent service. I'm a taker. Which is exactly why I'm giving it 5 stars, I'm trying to give back.
