He informed of the store's return policy and advised me he was unaware about the product. I was asked if I was a Westlake reward member, I am not. He proceeded to check me out. After paying I asked what it takes to be a member, he said I could go online and I'd get an email with a $10 coupon. Otherwise he said we'd have to start a new transaction. And then I needed an enzymatic drain cleaner, and he walked me through the specifics of the various brands for sale, going through the details until we found just the right one for my needs. I've brought my pup in here as she continues to need some socialization and it always goes well. One time the clerks had their dog too and they became fast friends. This store really packs quite a bit into it. Of course it won't be as sizable as a Home Depot, but man oh man is the experience world's better. I found every single thing on my list which was great. It's closest size comparison to me would be the Ace in Westport, but hey guess what, you don't have to fear for your life in KC's worst intersection if you come here! It's easy to park in the lot out front, off of the always-busy 75th Street. My kids love it because they have a gumball machine, whoopie cushions, and other classics from back in the day when the world was making real attempts to be fun. I really like this place!…read more The helpful hardware store is correct. They set themselves apart by being there for you. Asking if you need help. Figuring out solutions. Ace is a much easier in and out than Lowe's or Home Depot. They are also locally owned franchises. So you can support your community by shopping here. I still get some things at Lowe's but most of the time I'm shopping at Ace for tools, hardware, paint, lighting, etc. This time I needed some brackets to hold up a shelf (they had the right size in three colors) and some 40W appliance bulbs. They had those in clear or frosted. The store is very well organized, and incredibly well stocked! The employees were indeed helpful. I am a fan!

I make goblets and bowls, and because I'm fairly new and am not wealthy, I have cheap gouges that I bought on the internet instead of at Woodcraft. I came to the ugly conclusion the other day that I didn't know how to sharpen my tools correctly, so I set out to find someone to get me on the right track. A really young guy named Tyler at Woodcraft is their undisputed lathe expert, so I went to talk to him about my troubles. I expected his time to cost me 20 or 30 bucks, but he put a new edge on the 2 that needed them for free! I will now be able to sharpen correctly from watching him do it. If your in the Overland Park area and you like specialty wood working like lathe projects, go check this place out if you've never been!

Any bigger needs you'll probably need to go the box store route, but for things like yard waste bags, keys, propane, gutter stuff, and any other suburban projects, you're going to find it here. Most times they are friendly and helpful, with more than enough people around to answer questions. It's on a busy stretch of 63rd street, but there's an alley connecting it to a larger, quieter parking lot which is what I recommend. My only issue with Ace is I have a Rewards card and it literally never works. I've even bought big ticket items that should accrue tons of points, but never works.. I've reached out to their (offshore) customer service to no avail. But yeah, a smaller neighborhood hardware store that has become pretty reliable over the years!
