Called Westedge about getting my bead seats cleaned on my wheels, and replacing the tires. Was answered with a hung-over "whaaat?" After verifying it was the right number, I asked about scheduling the work and was told "I don't want to deal with that monkey business. I'm jamb packed". A bit hard to find (be prepared to use small parking lot before you reach it if you're heading N bound from Georgetown), this bike shop has a very experienced and charismatic do-it-all owner who was able to fix a puzzling engine/electrical issue my VStar has been having since the last time I had it in maintenance at a much bigger bike store on the E side. I was very frustrated with its unreliable behavior and almost gave up on my bike - now it runs like new! I'm very happy; this will without a doubt be my new bike maintenance shop. read more

Rob is the man! Was able to work on my Ducati, which many places won't. And of the places that said they would, Rob at Westedge cycle was BY FAR the most helpful. I came in, got my rear tire replaced, and he was even able to take care of an impromptu oil change. Along with checking and clearing some codes, and tossing in a couple missing fairing bolts. First time posting on Yelp. This is nearly the same as Brett P. Just tried to drop off a buddy's Harley for an oil change only. after we got his back I would have dropped off mine. My buddy had his own oil for his bike and mine I would have purchased there when it was time to do mine. We asked the owner for a price and he did not have a quote for a Simple oil change. Only that it was 85$ an hour labor. He crept saying it would be a fair price. Then he abruptly said never mine and he would not do it. The owner was very,very rude. How can you do business without the customer knowing the price. After leaving. We called the closest Harley shop and the total price is 92$ with our own oil for a simple oil change. No additional checks. This guy lost business from not one, but two new local residents. And I will say. We both work with the military and we will be letting everyone know how his customer service is. Hopefully this guys old customers will keep him afloat for the 6 month riding season I see he posted on his previous comment a few years back. Apparently he never meet Harley riders who ride all year long, rain, shine, or cold. read more

I've used Westedge a couple of times to mount up tires I've purchased on the internet, and have been happy with the service and the price of the service. First time was a pair. He mentioned he could beat internet pricing for the most part. I told him I'd buy some tires from him next time. Then I promptly forgot. I had to replace one new tire that went flat after 1000 miles due to a big hole. I figured I'd get free shipping and ordered two other tires for my other bike at the same time. I took the single tire in to Westedge. He mentioned our prior discussion. I apologized and told him I'd forgotten (this was a year later), but after my next set I'd check out his pricing. Today, I went in with the final pair. Westedge: "Hey dude, what's up?" Me: "Hey, can you mount a couple of tires today?" Westedge: "If you can leave them with me, I can probably get to it." Me: "Okay, I'm off work around 2-2:30, I'll check back with you." Me: "By the way, I need a 12k mile service done on my other bike, a blahblahblahfitty, what's an average cost for a service?" Westedge: "Oh, I can't tell ya man, I'd have to look it up. If I just gave you a price, I'd shoot myself in the foot" Me: "Fair enough. Want me to bring in a list?" Westedge: "Nah, I can look it up in the book" Me: "Okay, I'll check back when I come in for the tires" I open my hatch to pull the tires out. Westedge: "Ya know man, I'll have to pass on mounting your tires. I don't do internet tires any more..." Me: "I told you when I brought in the last one that I still had another set and I'd be pricing you after this set..." Westedge: "You say that every time man, try Skagit Powersports." I shut the hatch and left with my tires. AND my money. I guess he's just too busy to make money any more. The way I look at it. He could have raised his prices to compensate for not making any money on the tires like every other moto shop does, continue on with the regular deal and keep my business, or turn me away. In this day and age, I don't think turning down work is the right way for *any* business to operate, but what do I know, I'm just the consumer. I'd have given him one star, but the first couple of times I went, I got decent service. Update - 10/17/2011 After reading the comment by the owner, I can appreciate his philosophy on doing business, but I will refute his claim that he gave me a quote for work. Had he provided me with a quote at the time he claimed, I would have had him do the work, as I had received decent service up til that point. This will be the last post from me on this subject, as I refuse to be dragged into a he-said/he-said pissing match. My review stands as written, YOU make your own decision. Westedge Cycles looks like a hole in-the wall dive of a little bike shop if your just driving by. But don't let the outside of the business fool you. This guy runs a squared away, profesional shop inside. The owner/operator is a great mechanic with experience on a variety of different makes. He used to be one of the main mechanics at Maryott Honda back in the day. The actual service area is downstairs in back of the old building and consists of 2 or 3 lifts, a couple tire macinges and even a full Dynojet on site! OK, the Dyno is actually upstairs, but how many independant shops have that!?! As far as the complaint from another reviewer about tire changes... welcome to 2011. Not too many shops doing them in Skagit County. I just went through the same thing with a set of tires purchased online. Most shops either A) won't do them or B) want $50 PER TIRE. I understand being upset over the miscommunication, but 2 stars? Really? Even after you were satisfied with other service still willing to schedule a tune up? So far, I've had a great experience with this place and will start to bring my Triumph, Ducatis and Husqvarna to him from now on. Please look at all the glowing reviews that have been strangely filtered out by Yelp (I'd give him a 5 too, but I'm afraid my review will hit their "fake review" filter, too). My poor, neglected '96 z1100 wasn't running and I just didn't have the time or inclination to diagnose. Three Kawasaki dealerships wouldn't even look at it, citing age of bike policies! Rob took on the job, fitting it into his backlog - not a problem for me as time was not an issue (after 10yrs and two cross country moves, how could it?) In short order, he got her running - making some modifications to improve her performance, then proceeded bring her up to snuff maintenance-wise. She's now back to "as good as new" operation and I couldn't be happier. I initially engaged his services on a very loose and informal basis, and he kept up his part in the most professional manner. Communications throughout the effort was great, with discovered issues and manner of rectifying effectively conveyed. Final charges for all the work done was very reasonable. Getting the bike to him was a bit of a nosebleed for me (ninety mile trek from Skagit), but this will not hinder my ongoing use of his services in the future. read more

Rob Westergard has worked on my bikes for over four years, and he is a top notch mechanic. He first dynotuned my '04 Honda CBR 1000rr and did a perfect map with a power commander I purchased from him. He is honest, hard working and he cares about people he deals with. Yeah, if you are shopping for a deal to mount tires you bought off the internet, maybe think about what it takes to run a shop like that. If you have a bike that you care about and want the best mechanic in the area, then give Westedge cycle a call. He gets five stars and more in my book! read more

I did get a phone call from Rob Westergard today. He expressed dismay that my review made him look awful. I mentioned to Rob that I was only relating my experience with Westedge Cycle of Anacortes. Regarding the loss of fuel economy I am experiencing after my 36,000 mile service with Westedge Cycle, I have now put on just under 2500 miles post service. I am experiencing a 4.61 mpg (9.4%) drop in fuel economy. I'm also experiencing heating issues where none were present before. I do wish to take my bike to Hansen Cycle of Medford OR when I go on vacation this coming summer. I plan to make my visit when I am due for service. Hansen Cycle has numerous reviews where they repaired issues caused by other mechanics. read more

I'm not sure you're if the last person is experiencing a bit of "Can't see the forest for the trees" syndrome. But I won't go into deconstructing the possible errors of his final logic or barrating someone I don't know online, and besides, this is about westedge. I"ll try and say it simply so this doesn't come out too long. I called getting an estimate for a rear tire for a sportster, he quoted me (I was surprised that the quote included tax and labor!!!), I made an appointment, recheduled because of snow, showed up with a screw in my tire from Oak Harbor, talked, checked out his awesome shop(you'll be interested to know it's the old anacortes jail, really the place is cool, and by the way he's chosen to maximize the space, you can just tell he has a history with bikes, and knows what he's doing and talking about), I asked where a BofA is he said 2 blocks away, I left my bike parked outside, walked the 2 blocks to the ATM, got a drink at the safeway and walked back looking to talk some more, when I got back it was done. My mouth pretty much dropped. So here's the short review: Prompt! Honost! Friendly! Knowledgable! Convenient!(considering it was winter) Reliable workmanship! And on this occasion, fast! One hell of a deal for me and I recommend it. read more

After calling and ordering a tire for my bike through them, not even an hour later I called to see if they had ordered it or not because I had found a better deal. But several hours later they called back cursing me out about losing money on the tire and service. If they would of calmly explained the situation I would of gladly of gone with their services, but now will never go there and will tell everyone I can of their poor business practices. read more

I have taken my bike to Rob for almost 4 years, for everything from tires, to a leaky gas tank. He has fixed everything, and when he done I have never had the problem resurface, and with a 16yr old crotch rocket that is insane! I got the bike from an idiot who had 2 n ghetto rigged the bike all to hell, it was missing parts, barely ran n looked awful, Rob kept that thing running for years after it should of been scrapped and usually charged me 1/2 of what he should. The best thing about rob though is that he explains stuff and doesn't make you feel stupid for being a newbie, skagit power sports is very bad about that. I'm shopping for another bike and he is who I will be going to, he is the best and has picked up my broken bike on the side of the road a few times. I am going in to Westedge Cycle tomorrow for my Beemer's 18K checkup and fully expect my bike to be in top condition when Rob completes the service, just as it has been for the past six years. I've had the pleasure of being able to rely on a very smart, savvy mechanic who knows his stuff and gives me 100% top service every time I come into his shop. The only fault that I can find with Rob is that he is too damned generous with his time, stopping what he is working on to help people in an emergency and not really making al lot of money in the process. That kind of service is what I look for in a company and I've found it. Before I met Rob, I had done business with other motorcycle repair places, some connected with dealerships and others privately owned and no one comes even close to his professionalism.
