The only reason I am writing this review is because of the person named Darren. Who I believe may be the boss. Trying to get a detailed receipt to submit to my insurance was not as easy as it should have been. He was rude, hung up on me and acted as if he didn't care if I got a receipt to be reimbursed by my insurance. I will give a shout out to Joe, the tow driver who hauled my vehicle. He was super nice and went above and beyond in helping me. If you chose to use this business, make sure you get a detailed receipt for your insurance purposes. read more

I walked in with my son and bought some snacks on the way to Eagle. Walked in and saw the cashier being very friendly to a woman as we walked by. I placed all the items on the counter and looked the cashier in the eyes and said hello, how are you? He gave me a somewhat blank stare and did not reply. I found this weird because I spoke to him in the same language and manner the woman did. He charged me and I continued to be courteous by saying thank you and have a nice day. This time his stare was filled with contempt. The only difference between the woman and I, our race. She was a white woman, I am not white. So chances are this is who that person is, racist or prejudice maybe just a diiiiiiiick. Either way. 1 star. Awesome 24 hour service!!! Had a flat in Eagle-Vail & called them, 9:00pm on a Sunday night... Shaun was there in 5 minutes! Very nice, got my spare down, changed the flat in no time! Even lifted my tire & put it in the back for me & recommended tire places to go in the morning & said to get a little more air in the spare! This was the only phone number that came up as 24 hour service & the service was great & so was the price!! Highly recommended!! These guys ROCK! read more

My car broke down on the I-70 and Travis and Shaun both were there to help me out within minutes. Shaun towed me off the freeway and took me back to their shop. While the mechanic at the shop wasn't able to help me (I've got a hybrid) he charged up my battery and gave me the codes for a very fair price. Our windshield wiper fluid completely froze on us while driving down i-70. we tried to have some mechanics help us, but no one was available. a person working at west vail shell saw us struggling and helped us out with everything for free. he totally fixed our wiper fluid problem and was extremely nice and accommodating. i highly recommend patronizing this place! read more

My family and I were stranded overnight on US-24 in Colorado due to a flat tire just before midnight and were towed to West Vail by Cutler of West Vail Shell in the morning and finally to Denver in the early afternoon. Cutler was the most kind person we had met during our 13-day road trip through 10 states. He provided the best customer service one could ever ask for: he showed genuine empathy for our plight; he communicated clearly what he would do and what we would expect; he made sure we were safe and comfortable; he regularly provided us updates; and he possessed a very high level professionalism and technical expertise in his job yet he remained humble all the time. I had popped a tire and I didn't have the correct lugnut key to get my rim off and Chris(I believe) was nice enough to tow me to Walmart, then he used a drill to get the lugnuts off himself, and helped me shop for standard lugnuts(which they didn't have), then put my spare on and pumped the tire up so I could atleast get home safe. All for $200 too because he understood how crappy my situation was. Thanks again so much read more

Didn't tell us any charges, like storage or that when we called for a tow we were charged almost THREE TIMES MORE because the pd called for an accident(again NO ONE TOLD US), assumed insurance coverage, uuuugh. These guys totally monopolize towing in this area and especially these days. They are the towing company for AAA here which shouldn't charge but they'll get something out of you one way or another. Don't tow to their shop if you can avoid it, doesn't matter what you need you'll be ROBBED. Haste makes waste as I placed the keys in our rental vehicle, which decided to lock itself. My wife later told me this happened to her multiple times while inside the vehicle so this incident didn't surprise her. In making multiple frustrating telephone calls and automated prompts to my rental car agency to help with locked keys in the car finally led to a referral to a disgruntled West Vail Towing employee responding when asked politely how I could help him get into the Beaver Creek Westin garage, "Well, wait by your car and maybe I'll get to you in six hours as I have one tow truck and more important things to do than get people into locked cars." Thankfully we decided to research other alternatives while waiting, which was not easily done on a small smartphone screen. We called several service providers, including one who politely stated they were busy and another that couldn't be there for 2 hours. We then called Alpine Lock & Safe who stated they could be there in ~25 minutes after confirming they had the equipment for an 2019/20 Audi Q5. The Alpine folks were super polite, extremely prompt, and incredibly proficient in getting us back into our car within 5 minutes. We ended up cancelling the rental car agency's scheduled roadside assistance with West Vail Towing and thankfully so. Try not to be so rude and dismissive next time guys to the next person. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I am a local. I was locked out of my car for 3 hours and called, panicking bc my phone was also dying with no way to charge. I am a single woman. No one local to call. I called West Vail Shell, explained my situation and asked them to send someone over to help unlock my car. They told me they couldn't get into my car because it's newer. He was completely dismissive and, after I BEGGED him to come because I had no other option, told me I'd have to sign a damage waiver because "you can't get into the new cars and damage is likely." He was so rude. I told him I'm a local and need help. I ended up calling Collin at Mountain Recovery Services, who told me the exact time he'd be at my car, arrived on time, and popped my door open in less than 10 minutes ZERO damage. He said it's easy to get into all cars. Shame in West Vail Shell for treating a woman, a local, A HUMAN the way you did. I'd rather walk 10 miles than get gas from you. I won't support your business. I ran into some car trouble and Rick Dilling is the man! He graciously towed me and my car to Breckenridge and then was kind enough to drop me off at home! It was a great experience all around and he is super friendly. If you ever need a tow, you can depend on West Vail Shell (and Rick) for great communication and conversation. I can't say enough good things about this Shell location! My son and I were driving our very old truck (with 260,000 miles on it!) from Minneapolis to California, and stopped to top off the gas tank at this station around 8:30 am on June 27. While he ran inside to use the restroom, I mistakenly put in a lower octane gas than was normally used for the truck. I normally never drive it, and had no idea it was the wrong octane until my son came back out and told me. I wish I had got the gentleman's name working the counter, he was so kind! (From what I remember he was around 5'11", straight sandy blond/brown hair, middle aged like me). I was completely frazzled explaining what I had done, he was kind enough to bring me back to the shop to talk to his mechanics, who reassured me that the small amount of "close to correct" gas I had placed in this old truck was not going to blow the engine as I feared! They were super kind, and Shell, if you are reading this, these guys are amazing ambassadors for your station! read more

In the rush, I left my phone in the restroom but didn't realize until it was too late in Denver. Not only did Josh find my phone and keep it safely for me, Darren went above and beyond to take it the UPS store to help me overnight it back to me. They were AMAZING. On the way home from a California road trip, we were caught in an unexpected snow storm on I-70 just east of Vail. The highway quickly became impassable for our vehicle so we were forced to pull to the side. My boyfriend called his insurance company State Farm to request a tow to take us to Frisco which was the next town. Our request was completed and we were advised we would be notified when a tow company was selected with a dispatch ETA. After waiting for just over an hour, a CDOT assistance truck pulled over to see if they could help us. They pulled us off the highway to a rest stop exit to safely wait for our tow. A while later we received notification that Shell Towing from Vail would be our company and the ETA was approximately 90 to 120 minutes. Since we had been pulled to the side, we decided to call Shell and let them know our updated location. When we called, the man who answered the phone was incredibly unprofessional from the beginning of the conversation. He sounded disinterested and told us he did not have a request yet for our tow. In between continuously putting us on hold and him yelling "huh" and "what" into the phone, he told us to try calling back the insurance company. After contacting State Farm again, a very helpful lady said she would contact Shell herself and see what was going on. After a short time she called us back to tell us that they had our information and again, wait time would be 90 to 120 minutes. At this point we had been parked in quickly rising snow for 2 1/2 hours in 10 degree weather. At the just over four hour mark, a tow arrived from a different company to tow a gentleman who was stranded in front of us. At this time, my boyfriend called back Shell for an update and the same rude man answered the phone and told us he had cancelled our tow because he wasn't sending his driver that far in a snow storm. He had zero compassion in his voice and was extremely cut and dry. No one from Shell bothered to give us a call to tell us and if we wouldn't have called we would have been stranded all night in freezing temperatures with no food or blankets. We were beyond upset and exhausted. Our blessing came when the tow driver from Ivan's Towing walked over to see if he could tow us with the gentleman in front of us. If it weren't for him we would have been completely out of luck. I've never dealt with such unprofessional auto service and I was extremely disappointed in this company's performance in a time of an emergency. read more

If only I could give them zero stars. My boyfriend and I had our Jeep break down on the highway in vail at 11am on 12/27/19. We called AAA and they dispatched West Vail as they are the only company who tows up her. Wear Vail told us they could tow us to our shop in Denver but it'd be a 1-5 hour wait. Since we had no other options, (hotel rooms in vail are quite spendy on Friday nights during the holidays) we agreed to wait. We called at 2:30 pm for an update and west vail said they'd call us back. They called us back at 3pm (4 hours after our initial call) saying that they would no longer tow us because of the weather. It's been blue skys, and no snow since we broke down here at 11. Traffic is moving, AAA cameras show clear weather the entire way down to Denver. But still, west vail is refusing to tow us. Don't let the good reviews fool you, if you're actually stuck on the road for hours in below freezing weather with no heater this company WILL SCREW YOU!!! read more

We had excellent tow service following an accident where a deer hit our car. They were quick on site, and helpful in so many ways including the storage of our car until we got it back. Never go here. I specifically asked for an oil change only, was given a $50 quote, and came back to a $95 receipt because they needed to "top off fluids". The only fluid that needed to be topped off was the transmission because it was leaking and I had an entire gallon of it in my passenger seat as I had been adding it myself due to the leak. I have only heard horror stories about this place and have always gotten attitude from all staff bc they know they are one of the only repair shops in the area and do not need to "sell you" on their services. read more
