I cannot say enough good things about my experience while on vacation in Breckenridge/Silverthorn, Colorado. We ruined our brakes traveling to CO but only realized it on Sunday. We found them on Yelp and when we called, they not only answered but had me bring our 2010 Tahoe over immediately. While spending $1000 is never fun, they were professional, quick and happy to provide a complete explanation to what happened to our brakes. I took my car here yesterday because it stopped at the mountain well they charged me around 175 usd didnt give me a diagnosis for the car claiming they had to take it apart. didn't give me an invoice. they also said it would take them 2 weeks to get parks to fix a 2010 Nissan come on now . Our new motor home left us stranded on the roadside in Silverthorn this morning 5-20-21. JH Mountain Auto Service arrived very quickly & had us hooked up & ready to go in no time. The young man even allowed us to ride with him to the dealership in Denver, despite COVID. Other tow companies had said "no passengers!". The young driver (active duty military!) kept us laughing with funny stories & pointed out interesting things to see along the drive. He made one of our worst days bearable! I brought my car here because it was the only place in Summit that had appointment availability within a few weeks. Unfortunately, my car was returned with only one of the repairs I requested complete. They were either unable or unwilling to order a part that was required to complete the work - the first shop I called in Denver had the part on order the very same day. Communication was sparse and only ever occurred through their text notification system. I never spoke to a mechanic about my vehicle or the incomplete work despite calling multiple times. read more

*scammers* 1 year ago today my clutch was malfunctioning. i brought my truck into JH mountain services and, after several days of delays, when they finally called me back they trickle charged me for several days, ultimately leading to a complete overhaul of my clutch. when i picked up my truck, $1800+ in charges later, the clutch was still malfunctioning as it had when i dropped it off. slipping, sticking, etc. i brought it in for a warrant repair and i was told there was a small hydraulic leak in my clutch. i let it ride, i already paid, perhaps i needed a new clutch anyways soon enough. well today, i am bringing my truck into a different shop for the same exact problems again. i don't trust jh mountain auto services to get it right and they wont own up to their failure. i would go so far as to say they had no idea nor intention of getting it right and were bold enough to charge me summit county premium rates. run. read more

Go anywhere else if you can. They performed unnecessary repairs on my vehicle, made me drive to Denver to get the parts for those unnecessary repairs, charged me full price, and never fixed my car. After a week of delay after delay, they said they could not fix it and charged me to tow it to a dealer in Denver. The dealer immediately diagnosed a blown engine and told me they should have easily been able to detect it. When presented with these facts, they refused to even look into their labor charges and their performance. Now my car is in a junkyard in Denver and JH Mountain has my money. Despicable. read more

Took my truck in as the undermount had been damaged. JH gave me an estimate and so I went with that. Got my truck back and now the chassis rubbed on my front tires every time I turned. They wouldn't do anything about it and now I'm out over $2000 and had to take it to another shop to repair what wasn't broken to start with. NEVER use this service. read more

No no no. Scam. Taking advantage of people in summit. If you have an out of state plate, they will get you. Brought my van in to get it checked out before I sold it. They came back to me that i needed new brake pads and new routers. Got quoted an astronomical high price. Called 4 shops in Denver for the job, and quoted me $500 cheaper! Mind you my 2016 computer was NOT telling me I needed a brake change. Also, desk clerk and mechanic were not wearing masks in the lobby. Cherry on top, the blonde counter chick had a very stinky attitude. I had to call back to get a better explanation as to why I needed new brakes, mechanic was very short, agitated and had no better explanation. Sad because I am a local with out of state plates, wonder what my price would have been with CO plates. Will never come here again. read more

While driving from LA to Denver, I broke down on I70 in a mountain town 1.5 hours from Denver. on a Sunday night. AAA was no help in determining a place to take my car for repair. The tow truck driver suggested JH Mountain Auto Repair. They were , of course, closed... but they had a handy drop off procedure - fill out a repair slip and leave keys in a locked box. JH called me at 9am the next morning. They did all the diagnostics and couldn't find anything - it turns out it was a weird Prius issue - the fan vent in the back seat was blocked by luggage causing the lithium battery to overheat and the car to lose power. They did not charge me the full minimum hour service and agreed to hold the car until the afternoon when I picked it up. Honest ...and trustworthy - just like the tow truck driver said. We were traveling with a rental car when the low tire pressure warning light illuminated. Four tire centers and three towns later we were directed to JH Mountain Auto. The front office staff and mechanics were super friendly, responsive and accommodating. They diagnosed with problem -a screw in the tire- quickly. We were in and out in under 30 minutes for a very reasonable price. They even gave us a great recommendation for lunch locally. read more

Our truck was shimmying and shaking and needed work right away, but all the auto repair shops I called were booking 1 to 2 weeks out because the second homeowners are all here (@&$&!) and need their cars done. It's mud season and it's busy?!! Super annoying. BUT JH Mountain got me an appt the same day, worked on the truck, and had us out of there in 4hrs or so. I was having car issues on Dec 24, 2020. They were the only auto repair shop that seemed to be open in all of Breck/Silverthorne area. JD towing took me and my car to JH, they said they'd call as soon as they diagnosed the issue, and they did within 30 min. I hadn't even gotten back to Breck before they found the issue! They were super informative and helpful, and because it only took them 30 min to diagnose, they only charged me ~$80-90 for that half hour. It was just a spark plug issue, and they set me off and running so I could get home super quick. PS I have out of state plates (California), and they didn't treat me any inferior, etc. read more

A red warning light came on that said stop driving about 10 miles from Silverthorne. I went JH and they diagnosed the problem on my Volvo and reset the warning light and I was on my way within an hour! I don't think it could have gone any better read more

Farmers insurance and JH bailed me out. My car got stuck in deep snow in a parking lot. How embarrassing. Could not dig it out but JH easily towed me out. We lost a tire on route to our vacation rental, and their tow truck driver was amazing. He was professional and caring, making sure we arrived safely at our final destination. They also have flat bed trucks so we didn't have to unload our bikes from the car. It's hard while traveling to know who will provide fair service, but we highly recommend Jh. read more

*ATTENTION ALL YOUNG FEMALES* I honestly hate to say this, but do not come here. I did because I saw good reviews. I'm a 22 yr old local. I was hearing an odd rattling noise coming from my car and I wanted to have my breaks looked at after a repair light came on. They told me the rattling was a plastic piece coming off from my tailgate and an easy fix. They also told me all four of my break pads and rotors needed to be replaced and that they were down to the metal so bad that there were scratches on them. They quoted me $980 to do this job. So I took my car somewhere else in the county to get a second opinion. I took it to A1 Auto and they told me if that job needed to be done they would charge me only $600. After looking at my car, they informed me my breaks still had at least 20,000 miles left and that they hear J&H tries to scam people all the time. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews. Maybe they just saw me, a young girl with little knowledge about cars, as an opportunity to capitalize on. At any rate I'm appalled not that they would charge me a ridiculous amount for that job, but that they blatantly lied to me about the conditions of my breaks. Beware. read more

They put the error code into their computer and cleared us to head home Sunday and hit up the dealership for the recall. Fast, friendly, and clean. I was visiting the mountains from out-of-state, and my 2015 Subaru with 170K miles started acting funny: high RPMs with little power. JHMAS told me that the transmission had failed, and they wanted to charge me $3,000 to remove and replace the transmission assembly with a 105K used system. I chose to have my car towed all the way to Denver to Cottman Transmission, who could not find anything wrong with the transmission. I then drove the car 600 miles home with no issues. All I can say is that the transmission had not failed, and I am very glad that I didn't pay $3,000 unnecessarily. read more

Returning to California from a cross country trip, our Ford F250 which was towing a brand new 34 foot 5th wheel, started smoking from the brakes. Of course we were panicking! We limped along to Silverthorne and found this repair shop on Yelp. They are awesome! It was almost closing time so we agreed to park the 5th trailer at the nearby hotel and left the truck with them so they could begin on it first thing the next, a Saturday, morning. They diagnosed it quickly and the part was ordered. By the end of Saturday we were able to safely get back on the road. These guys were honest, and accurate in their diagnosis of our problem. I can't say enough great things about the customer service and employees at JH Mountain Auto Services. Our 2007 Cadillac Escalade that was totally loaded with my family of four and all of our things stalled completely on the highway heading up the mountains. We couldn't get it started and assumed it was the fuel pump. After a quick search for an auto service place nearby, JH came up with the best reviews. The woman I spoke to was very helpful and said they could look at my car first thing the next morning. When I heard from them the next day, they shared that nothing was wrong. A few codes had popped up that said something about evaporation and fuel, but it started right up and drove fine. They mentioned that something called "vapor lock"could have caused the stall, and that they've seen this with many cars in the past. My only charge was the diagnostic test they performed! The honesty and integrity of this business is TOP NOTCH! Knowing we were from Texas, they could have told me anything and we would of had to get the work completed on the vehicle. What a relief to know that there are still great people with integrity out there in this world! Thank you JH Mountain Auto Services! I would love to give these guys 5 starts but they messed up so badly. I brought my car in needing new front brakes and they got it done that day. I had to bring in my car the next day because one of my tires had almost fallen off due to the fact they only put on 2 of the 5 lug nuts. If I didn't bring my car back in as soon as I did this could have ended up much worse. The brakes on our car went out a few months ago, so I took our car to JH. They determined that the master cylinder had to be replaced, so they replaced it. The brakes worked well until this week, when they went out again. I took it to another repair shop, and they determined that the master cylinder that JH installed a few months ago had to be replaced again, due to brake fluid leak. This second repair shop said that the master cylinder that JH installed a few months ago was purchased from an auto parts store, and was not the quality that they recommend to have installed. They installed a better quality master cylinder, and my car's brakes work well again. If you get your car repaired at JH, I'd recommend asking them what quality of parts they use. read more

After reading all the positive reviews about JH Mountain Auto Services, I really wanted to like this place after taking my car in for service, but with their poor quality of work, I had to share my money-wasting experience, so other customers think twice before being burned, almost literally, for hundreds of dollars like I was. My car needed an oil change, rear brakes/rotors, and wheel alignment. However, the mechanic's workmanship was a disaster requiring additional servicing by another shop. All of the oil that was added to the car leaked out within the first few days -- something that has never happened after several dozens of oil changes over 140k miles. A return visit took an entire day to correct the issue and refill the oil. Shortly after, the rear brakes began burning, wearing away the pad and ruining the brand new rotors. I inquired about warranty coverage, but since this shop is always slammed, nobody answered the phone or returned multiple messages to address an urgent, safety related issue. Showing up in-person didn't help either, as they were so busy they couldn't take a look at the car for "weeks" -- longer than anyone with common sense is willing to drive a vehicle with no brakes. On top of it, to this day, I still experience steering wheel vibrations at highway speeds, indicating the wheel balance is still off. 0 for 3. Despite being so busy, the service advisor working the front of the house works hard, doing the best he can considering the shop is understaffed -- the silver lining around a relentless storm cloud. After spending over $500 at J&H and getting no solution to fix the brakes in a timely manner, I had to take my vehicle to a different auto shop in Summit County and spend another $500 to correct the vehicle's brake issues. They were able to not only give me a lower price on warrantied brakes and rotors than JH did, but they delivered the parts from Denver and installed everything on the same day to get me safely back on the road -- What JH Mountain Auto Services should have done from the start.
