    The staff at the Long Beach West Marine are incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful. Colleen, Grace, Bodie, and J.C. have been particularly helpful to me in the past 3 years that I have been shopping there to maintain my Catalina 36. In addition to having a comprehensive selection of boating merchandise, West Marine provides an invaluable service to the boating community, acting as a sort of American Express office/refuge for traveling boaters. If the prices on some items are a little higher than on Amazon, it is worth it to me to pay a little more for the additional peace of mind that they provide. I have traveled to many of the California West Marine locations since becoming a boat owner, and they all have their own personalities (all positive), but the Long Beach store strikes a perfect balance of store size, merchandise selection, and customer service. As extra bonuses for me, they are right down the dock from my boat, a short walk to a terrific breakfast/lunch place (Schooner or Later), and right next door to my yacht club, the Seal Beach Yacht Club. I'd make it 5 stars, but they aren't always able to keep all of my electrical connectors, wire sizes/colors, or plumbing connections in stock. I am always able to make something work to finish my project, though. Keep it up, guys!

    What I got

    Over priced under stocked has always been a problem here. And I accept it till today!! I ordered a part online, they sent me a different part, same thing but the generic version. Not what I ordered not what I payed for. Came back in to ask about it obviously not happy about it especially after it taking 5 days to get it. Ask what the deal this is not what I ordered I ordered a IMTRA windless control box, ordered online part number matched the picture matched but what was sent was a different manufacturer different wiring layout. Just not what I ordered. So I'm told that what you get when I enter that part number. I say to the lady I'm dealing with, that all fine and dandy but it's still not what I ordered it's not what west marine represents on the website, this lovely woman saint to me "what do you want me to put a IMTRA sticker on it would that make you happy" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! No I just want what I ordered if you don't have it or can't get it done but don't waste a week of my summer vacation and make an ASSHOLE COMMENT like that to me. If you came to my restaurant and ordered a steak and I give you a burger I a fucking sticker goi g to fix it NO! That it west marine I have spent amazing amount of money here fixing up my sailboat. Now I'm going to go out of my way to avoid send any money anymore after this disgusting service.

    Due to Covid-19, 10 person limit in store. Angry employee told me to wait outside when I was just following directions of the sign.

    I went inside the store with my dad. Due to current events, they have a 10 person limit in the store, which is understandable. So I waited at the sign. The older lady employee advised me to go wait outside. I thought that was because they were at their 10 person limit. I saw 2 people leave the store. So I asked a different employee if I can come in and was okayed. The same lady then kicked me out of the store like I didn't follow the rules. She should have clearly and stated that it was one person per party. I'm not a mind reader. I work in corporate retail and understand our practices of safety and social distancing. But this employee was just rude and seemed like she didnt want to interact with anyone. Understandable, but no empathy shown, angry face, making customers not feel valued. I will definitely write a detailed email to corporate to express my dissatisfaction.

    Missing nut to grab on

    Came in to exchange a radar that was bought in their other store in marina del Rey less threat inside came loose so we called to check if they had it in stock and they did so we drove down to get it exchange part of their still on-going return no hassle guarantee than two weeks ago. Had receipt with me and everything. But once it came time they didn't want to exchange it because they wanted to check Garmin warranty for once thread that wasn't there. Stan and jc both did not want to do the exchange and for me to exchange it at the marina del Rey store even though they are just going to transfer it over. Terrible customer service. Never had a problem with exchanges. Especially being a west marine pro member.

    This place sucks called and was on hold for 40 minutes and a person would come on and said did you get helped yet sounded like the same girl. That was twice i told them what I needed and I was still on hold and no one ever came back on the line.

Samantha was helpful both times I went in and always greets everyone as they come in when she's working. Fast forward to pickup day, Derek helped me out and went through the pickup process fast and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Before I left he offered me related items, but I had everything I needed from my previous visit. Overall I had a great purchasing experience and their level of service is the reason I go back to this specific location. Prices are always good and the elevated level of service adds more value than other big box retailers. Definitely recommend this location and these three individuals for all your needs from Turners.

    It was a Thursday in the early afternoon, and I was accompanying my fiancé while he was purchasing…read moreammo. While he was deciding and waiting for his turn, the clerks behind the firearm counter were speaking very loudly about "day drinking" and hoping to clock out in time for happy hour later that evening. One individual in particular (bald/sparse hair with glasses, someone I had not seen there before) seemed especially vocal about it. Hearing employees openly joke and talk about being intoxicated while working behind a firearm counter immediately raised serious concerns for me. Firearms require a high level of responsibility, awareness, and professionalism, and hearing staff casually discuss drinking while actively assisting customers was alarming. What made it worse was how loud and proud the conversation was. They were laughing and hyping each other up about drinking while customers were standing right in front of them. Whether they were joking or not, it reflects extremely poor judgment and creates a very bad look for a business that sells and handles firearms. It gives the impression that safety and professionalism are not being taken seriously. In an environment where safety should be the absolute priority, hearing employees casually talk and laugh about drinking while surrounded by firearms is incredibly concerning and completely unprofessional.
