    New Puppy Check-up
    Lauren K.

Cannot say enough good things about West Loop Vet - I've been taking my puppy (Cassian) here since the first day I got him and they sent me home was a cute "puppy starter" kit. They made his early appointments to the vet stress free and Cassian looked forward to all his vaccine appointments. Now he literally tries to bolt into the doors when we walk past the clinic. All the staff are super sweet and caring with my pup and I can tell they truly care about their furry patients! After each appointment they always send a follow up email to make sure Cassian is feeling okay and has no allergic reactions etc. I also think it's very considerate that they have separate entrances for cat and dog owners so neither stress each other out - just thoughtful planning to minimize any stress related to the vet visit!

Had always felt it was overpriced, but it was convenient and walkable so I accepted. Until I got a quote for dental cleaning that seemed way too high and priced around. West Loop Vet should be ashamed. Anyone going here should line their invoices up against other vets in the area. Some of the prices of vaccines alone are more than double. For a Bordatella vaccine, they're charging more for a 6 month vaccine than other vets do for the full year version. Luckily, there's a new vet opening in West Loop this year. And even if there wasn't, you can hire a limo service to drive your pet to another vet and still come out ahead. I only priced these out against one other vet. It took no effort to save hundreds of dollars a year on routine recurring services. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every time I was there I felt pressured to run more tests and take more charges. They use your pets to guilt you into spending unnecessarily.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Do yourself a favor and shop around before returning to West Loop

Hi! Do you provide dental cleaning for dogs? If yes, how much is the cost and what is the process?

Are yo doing in home visits?

At the moment we do not provide in-home visits. We do offer telehealth appointments, but the patient needs to have established care with us, ie. at least one preventative wellness appointment in-hospital.

How much should I expect to pay for first pup appointment? No vaccines, just wellness exam

Our medical care plans are tailored for each individual pet. Therefore, please give us a call at 312-421-2275 so one of our Patient Care Coordinators can gather the information we need to provide you with a medical care plan fit for your puppy.

When she was returned to me, she was wheezing, struggling to breathe, and unable to open her right eye. I was in disbelief. After a few hours of trying to calm her down, I rushed her to the emergency veterinarian. The emergency vet discovered that Karmen had a traumatic corneal ulcer in her eye--an injury that was not there before her grooming appointment. Between the emergency visit, diagnostics, medications, and treatment, I have already spent nearly $700 trying to help my dog recover. When I contacted the groomer and asked if anything unusual had happened while Karmen was in their care, nobody could give me an explanation. Nobody accepted responsibility. Nobody seemed concerned that a dog who arrived healthy left with breathing issues and an eye injury serious enough to require emergency veterinary care. What was even more frustrating was the complete lack of urgency afterward. I was told someone would contact me on Tuesday. Tuesday came and went. No call. No follow-up. No concern. In fact, I didn't hear from anyone until the following Tuesday--a full week later. By that point, I had been left to deal with the emotional stress, veterinary appointments, and financial burden entirely on my own. Accidents can happen. What I cannot accept is the lack of accountability, transparency, and basic compassion afterward. If your pet is injured while in someone's care, the very least you should expect is honesty and timely communication. My dog went in healthy and came home injured. Those are the facts. Based on my experience, I would never trust this business with Karmen again, and I feel other pet owners deserve to know what happened before deciding whether to leave their animals here.

She was so approachable, understanding, and really went into the details of what option would best support my tiny fur children. Fast forward 3 months and we just wrapped up our in-home training package with Maureen! I cannot stress how amazing the entire experience was. Maureen has truly changed our lives for the better. Where we started to where we are now is night and day better, especially for my more aggressive dog Luna! We went from no one being able to enter our apartment with the dogs out to now the dogs just hanging out when people are here! Maureen is patient with pets AND people. She is always positive and really explains the WHY of the behaviors and outcomes. She's always on time, super professional, and gave us practical tools that actually work to truly set our dogs up for success but also US up for success as "parents" Honestly, I am a little sad Maureen is so great at her job because we will miss her coming over! If you want a trainer who knows her stuff and makes the whole process feel doable, Maureen is your person!

The representative spoke so quickly. Even when I asked the rep to slow down for comprehension's sake, everything was handled at the same rushed pace. I called at another time for different reasons and received the same rep with the same hurried style. The extra star is for when claims are approved: the reimbursement process doesn't take long. Also, Figo charges lower premiums than other companies. Rating them a one-star came to mind because their process seems more complicated than Nationwide's and less claims are being approved through Figo. If I downgraded them to a one-star after filing more claims, it wouldn't surprise me.

We should have expected a horrible experience when our dog could not wait to get out there upon pickup! Over the next couple of days, we found several red marks on her body under her fur, clearly a sign of overly rough brushing and grooming. It took weeks for the marks to heal completely. We called the store and spoke to the manager about the store taking responsibility and paying for her vet bills. We were asked for her medical records following her vet visit. At first, the manager told us that her medical records show a history of allergies, which could cause the red marks. This was a ridiculous assumption, as she's never had red marks due to her allergies! She had been groomed several times before without issue! After some back and forth, we were told that they would need to talk to their corporate office to determine liability. I kept calling for an answer after not hearing back, but never heard back. More than anything else, we were stunned by the gross incompetence shown by the groomers that they would brush her hard enough to give her red marks! Do not give Petsmart (especially its grooming salon) your business when there are so many amazing groomers throughout the city.
