The vet is very nice and explained things in a way I can understand. It would be nice if they had the waiting area divided to separate dogs and cats/shy timid animals

My poor little baby, love of my life, child not born from my womb, had carcinoma cancer. I brought my my cat Lumpy to Wicker Park Vet Clinic after a few places couldn't figure out what was wrong with him as his blood work kept coming back clean. Both Dr. Oh and Dr. Cohen were fantastic, giving me great advice and keeping things realistic. Dr. Oh was my main vet throughout testing and he was determined to get to the bottom of what was ailing Lumpy. Though it wasn't the prognosis I hoped for, I was thankful to finally have some answers. I realize rates will vary but just to give a bit of information on what I paid... Blood work $165 Cytology to biopsy a lump $125 Fluids range depending on the amount needed but this was $10 for me Exam itself $55 X-Rays $188 I had to put him asleep last night just a week short of him turning 14 and used an at home euthanasia service instead of stressing him out & taking him back to the vet. I'm very thankful for Wicker Park Vet Clinic though and their very compassionate, friendly & well informed staff from the vets to the front desk. I have another cat Teenie who I will continue bringing to Dr. Oh as I was truly more pleased with him than I ever have been with any vet I've visited.

When asked why, it takes us too long to do...literally what the front desk girl told me.

Ugh, it pains me to write this, but WPV is NOT what it used to be. The actual vets are pretty good. We see Singleton most of the time and I feel that she's pretty good. But it's all the ancillary staff that are atrocious! It's been a steady slide in the downward direction over the course of the last 1.5 years. The staff are rude, lazy, and not really there for the customers. Order meds online, they never have them actually ready when they say they are. What's the point of me placing the order ahead of time and you sending me an email to say they ready and when I arrive...I have to wait 7-10 minutes for them to get them ready?! They currently refuse to cut our elderly cats pills in 1/4ths even though they've been doing it for the last 3 years. The pills are not scored and they recommended I buy a pill cutter. When I asked why, the front desk girl told me because it was taking them too long. When you call, they are short and sound angry. Now, not all of them are this way, but I would say, it's the majority, which just makes it unpleasant to have to deal with them. Several examples over the last 2 years and don't want to belabor how awful it's become (trying not to be a Karen). If our cat wasn't 19 years, I'd definitely change vets. I can say, once our elderly queen crosses the rainbow bridge, we will be seeking out a new vet! Unfortunately the service at this vet is definitely not even close to what it used to be.

Around 7 years ago one of my male cats was having trouble urinating, I did a quick search for vets in my area and found WPVC. Dr. Cohen was extremely straightforward, gave optional paths for care, and was very loving to Bo. A few years passed and my older male cat Chase started losing weight and having all the signs for diabetes. Dr. Mullin was assigned to Chase and we are truly blessed to have her. I have seen this doctor literally run to me and grab Chase while he is having a hypoglycemia episode. Dr. Mullin has spent her time researching and contacting specialist just to better assist Chase. Her calming voice, and professional demeanor is above par. She is a superhero. The staff who sit behind the desk are fantastic, they're extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I can be hard to please and I am overprotective of my cats. I can say with my heart of hearts I have had zero issues at Wicker Park Vet Clinic. Chase met the end of the road and we arranged to bring him in to see Doctor Mullin for his final visit. The staff all came in to give us their condolences and tell us how much they will miss Chase visiting. It was a very sad evening, we are so thankful to have this clinic to depend on. Thank for being our vet clinic.

Recently switched to WP Vet clinic to see Dr. Singleton. She did a wonderful job of explaining the possible causes to his illness, upper respiratory cough. We were relieved to learn that it wasn't more serious. Highly recommend Dr. Singleton for her caring, and love of animals. WP billing was reasonable and efficient during an unusual time, COVID. Bonus is free parking!

Despite being an inconsistent patient over the years, WLVC re-established us quickly and delivered incredibly attentive, compassionate, research-driven care during her final weeks, with an on-staff insurance specialist handling all the claims paperwork for reimbursement. I am so grateful for the patience, kindness, and professionalism of everyone who dealt with me while I was repeatedly an emotional mess in their office. I could not recommend this practice more.

I was extremely anxious and worried that whatever she ingested could seriously harm her. From the moment we arrived, the team was more than supportive. They saw her immediately, reassured us, and after scans confirmed she'd be okay, walked us through everything calmly and clearly. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared. They even fell in love with her, which helped ease my nerves. What truly set them apart was the post-visit care. During recovery, being able to email back and forth with the doctor including sending photos of anything questionable was a game changer. Responses were quick, thoughtful, and reassuring. We have a regular day-to-day vet, but this is now officially our puppy's ER/Urgent Care.

I already consulted our general vet and they mentioned it was due to the medication he was on that was making him this way. I just felt like something wasn't right and wanted to see another doctor just in case. I searched around online for the closest one to see if they would schedule us in on the same day but alot of places were not taking in any new patients. I called right when they opened and I believe I spoke with Dr. Beauchamp and explained what was going on with my boy. I was very grateful that she was able to squeeze me in on the same day. Dr. Beauchamp and their team provided such respect and care to my boy. They took a look at him and told me that he did not look well and was needed to be admitted to the hospital right away. Everything was explained to me very thoroughly and answered all the questions I had. Unfortunately, there was alot of complications going on with him that day and he didn't make it. I am extremely thankful that Dr. Beauchamp followed up with me via phone call to see how he was and did not charge me for our first visit. If we were ever to get another pet, I will be 100% taking them here.

My dog was neutered 1 week ago. Since then he has had complication after complication. 1st a bad reaction to a prescribed medication causing him to diarrhea blood for days- when we went in to address his diarrhea and dehydration there was an attempt to sell me on a fecal test for Giardia when this was CLEARLY a reaction to the medication. Then the Dr "FORGOT" to give him fluids for dehydration and sold me 3 cans of food to take home to help him. Luckily, I looked into the ingredients of the food further and realized that it contained chicken which he is allergic to. No comment at this appointment on the state of his incision. 2- Luckily because I am a nurse myself I continuously assessed his incision site and noticed that there was a severe hematoma starting to look black. I immediately called the vet to let them know that the tissue was beginning to look necrotic and he was an increased pain. They requested a photo- I sent the photo for an opinion and they NEVER RESPONDED.. 3-We went to the emergency vet they said that the incision looked extremely abnormal and that we should follow up with our vet bc he will likely need a second surgery. 4- We go back to the vet because I followed up 2 DAYS after the picture was sent and Dr asks if I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A QUOTE FOR A LASER to try to bring back life to the dying tissue. Due to my pushback, they did the laser for free. I still walked out paying $85 for more pain medication because it is now required since he's having ongoing pain due to this complication. The doctor then stated that if the tissue does not get better, he will definitely need another surgery which I am sure they are thrilled to charge me for. Not only is this place an extreme money grab, half of the staff is rude and the bedside manner is CRAZY. I brought my dog in because he was clearly in pain and one of the vet techs was grabbing his cheeks, smooshing his face around aggressively saying how cute he is when he's VISIBLY uncomfortable. I'M SO THANKFUL THAT WE DECIDED TO GO WITH A RECOMMENDATION FOR HIS NOSE AND PALATE SURGERY BECAUSE I'M CONFIDENT THAT IF WE HAD SEEN A RANDOM SURGEON AT THIS LOCATION , WE WOULD'VE HAD WAY WORSE COMPLICATIONS OR ACCORDING TO OTHER REVIEWS MAY HAVE LOST OUR DOG. Save your money and go somewhere that isn't private equity and actually cares about their patients not just $$$$$!

It was all done with little to no information given without me prying answers to questions out of them. As a new dog owner I'm not sure what to ask and not sure how to navigate caring for a dog and they not only didn't help they felt deceptive. The experience with booking and follow up is very good. Nice that you can book online, they text ample reminders, follow up to ask how the service was, and when I spoke to a manager about my poor experience he handled it very well. It was just the experience at the actual facility that was the problem. The tech that came in before the vet was awkward and quiet and had no answers to anything. The vet was arrogant and deceptive.

All visits and the surgery cost me over $3k. My poor dog had a scar the size of a ruler for a lump that was the size of quarter. Seemed extreme and insanely expensive. Dealing with the front desk staff was a nightmare and I had to fight to get my dog into the surgeon within a reasonable amount of time. If I hadn't fought this they were perfectly fine seeing him for surgery a month later. And this was for a lump that grew into the size of quarter in less than 5 days. The whole experience was baffling. I decided to return to this place for my dog's annual exam and vaccines due to proximity. Just tried taking my dog in for the routine annual exam along with his shots and they were asking for $600 total. Luckily they showed me the costs before jumping in to conduct the work. Last year, we did the same round of shots and the exam here and it was $325. I'm now needing to find a more affordable option. This clinic shows up at #1 on Yelp for "low cost vet in Chicago". Very wrong. Seems like a business looking to make money rather than help people take care of their animals at an affordable rate. They did call me when we were running 5 minutes late just to make sure we were on our way and that they would be able to make a profit off of us today. What an eye roll. We won't be returning. Any suggestions for other low cost options would be welcomed.

This practice USED to provide excellent care, but the decline in service has been both…read moredisappointing and concerning. I recently requested a refill for my cat's prescription diet, which is medically necessary due to a severe intolerance to regular food that causes bloody diarrhea. I was initially told the refill could not be authorized because my cat had not been seen in over a year. That statement was incorrect. My cat was seen in July 2025, and the staff eventually acknowledged that fact. After that, I was told that because my cat's regular veterinarian had moved to a different location, a new veterinarian would need to see him before the prescription could be renewed. Frankly, that explanation makes little sense. The entire purpose of a veterinary practice is continuity of care. My cat's diagnosis, history, and response to treatment are thoroughly documented in his medical record by one of your own veterinarians. If a documented medical condition and treatment plan established by your own provider cannot be relied upon by another veterinarian within the same practice, what does that say about the confidence you have in your own medical records and clinicians? Are clients expected to start over every time a veterinarian changes locations? Should established diagnoses suddenly become questionable because the original veterinarian is no longer in the building? That rationale undermines the very concept of a group practice. What is most troubling is that despite being informed that interruption of this diet could result in my cat developing bloody diarrhea, there was no apparent urgency, compassion, or effort to help. The response I received felt focused on generating another office visit rather than ensuring continuity of care for a patient with a known medical condition. The front desk staff appeared completely unbothered by the situation, despite understanding the potential consequences for my cat. Meanwhile, I continue to receive marketing emails and promotions for care plans, which seem to receive more attention than the needs of actual patients. After more than four years as a loyal client, I am deeply disappointed. This experience has completely eroded my trust in this practice. I will be transferring all of my pets' care to West Loop Veterinary Care. Shame on you for treating a loyal client--and more importantly, a sick animal--this way.
