Disgusted with this establishment! If it were possible to give negative stars, I certainly would. It's evident that profit is prioritized over the well-being of animals here. During a follow-up vaccinations appointment with a technician for my dog, I requested antibiotics for his rash, but they outright refused, insisting I schedule a separate appointment with a vet for the prescription. There's plenty of vet's there who could have easily looked at him for 10 seconds. I just wanted a prescription to get him relieve. But no. It's disheartening to witness a lack of compassion when my primary concern was my dog's well-being. This place seems more focused on revenue than genuinely caring for animals. I will NEVER go back here again. UPDATE to their responds below: Topical treatments prove ineffective when my dog is in distress and tearing at himself. We were recommended this place by several friends and veterinary clinics. We decided to give it a go. This location is very clean with a welcoming, cheerful environment. Card or cash is accepted. No checks. Payment due at checkout. Boulevard Vet is around $10-$20 more expensive for examinations/vaccinations than other vets in the area. It's higher prices reflect higher quality and care. Staff is personable and extremely professional. I scheduled the appointment on a Monday, and was able to get in that same week on Wednesday. For new clients, you just have to fill out a five minute online form. The staff calls your previous vet for pet history, so you don't have to worry about that. Then, when you arrive, you just have to sign a release form. THE EASIEST new client vet visit we have had. We arrived at our scheduled time at 10:45am. They were running a little behind. We made it into the exam room at 12:05pm. Dr. Williams is great with anxious and overstimulated puppies. I noticed he was gentle and patient. My dog needs 10-30 minutes for an introduction. Within a minute, she was sniffing his hand. Our exam lasted around 30 minutes-- Straight to the point and professional. A great first experience. We love the hassle free system and experienced staff! I have been on the hunt for a new vet ever since Dr. Oh (can't say enough positive words about him) from Wicker Park Vet retired. I've tried a few places and haven't been happy. With my two cats having issues, no one could figure out what was going on and I finally had to put one to sleep a couple weeks ago. Well my remaining cat seemed to catch an upper respiratory from her, so I was once again on the hunt for a new, great place to hopefully be my permanent vet for Teenie. I feel like I've finally found that at Boulevard Vet. I called a couple of places when trying to make an appointment for me, one place told me I had to take him to an emergency vet & wouldn't see me (he wasn't in any immediate danger & if that were the case, I would...he basically just had a cat cold :P) and another place was really curt nearing on rude when I called to ask for an appointment.Feeling nearly defeated, I called Boulevard and the receptionist was beyond amazing! She had such an amazing demeanor, was so friendly, so inviting, so positive...I can't say enough about how happy I was with my initial interactions. My appointment was just a couple days later and I was greeted with the same positivity. The clinic is beyond clean and just beautiful inside, the colors & design are modern, and once again very inviting. My cat was a bit stressed out and they quickly put me in a room so he would chill out a bit. The vet tech and vet herself were both on the same vibe as the receptionist, everyone was just so kind here from beginning to end. I felt his visit was incredibly thorough and they found things in him that previous vets did not. They also gave me the pricing on things and let me decide what I wanted to do now & what I wanted to wait on, I felt no pressure on doing things at a later time that could wait. My exam was $69 which is on par with all the other clinics I've been to and he had an antibiotic injection for $56. I find their prices reasonable and comparable to other practices, but their service is well above and beyond other clinics. I feel really good about my visit with Boulevard Vet. I used to work at a animal hospital, so when it came to time to pick a new vet, I was picky to say the least. I am so happy I ended up at Blvd. I have a 9 year old small mix breed who has been going here for over 2 years. She's been fairly healthy, but does struggle with anxiety and isn't a easy dog to handle. I am blown away by Blvds approach with her. They take their time with her and take extra measures to prevent her from getting stressed out. This is something I haven't seen other animal hospitals do. Even when she's in the back for a blood draw, she comes out so much more relaxed than she did at other animal hospitals. They have also recommended some light anxiety medication for stressful events that other vets never told me about. They are also so thorough! She has a few fatty masses that so far are benign. They've done a excellent job in monitoring them over the years. This year we got a puppy during quarantine. Even with the stress of the pandemic, they were wonderful to work with. It wasn't difficult to get him for his puppy check ups. He was also born with a heart murmur. The doctors were so informative on this issue and were very transparent about what expect if he didn't grow out of it. Luckily he did! But these vets do not put this in perspective at all. They are very manipulative and present all possible scenarios as equally likely. We began brining our dog to Boulevard when we moved. While she had never disliked the vet, she had also never loved going to the vet, like she did with Boulevard. She would literally go up to the door to go in if we happened to be walking by. The vet staff were wonderful and always took great care of our pup. . .whether it was just standard check-ups and shots or if she was having medical problems. They took great care of her, kept her happy and comfortable. We recently had to put our dog down and they offered to give me information on services to have your dog put down at home, if that was preferred by us and I said, "No, she loves being here at Boulevard, she loves everyone there, she would be happy being at Boulevard.) When putting her down the staff was wonderful to our dog, as well as my husband and I. Well, my baby isn't the easiest to deal with. I'm not a helicopter parent, nor do I think that my baby will become President some day. I think she's too smart for Prez- I digress. Knowing that she can be a "challenge", I scheduled a vet visit for a day when I could take our time to prep her for the visit. Frida is quite the flirt, and she showed it here. Luckily, their staff where great in dealing with her. No one howled in disbelief when she started eating wallpaper (yes, I'm embarrassed). Additionally, they where gentle with the injection she needed. Their staff was happy to answer a first time dad's questions. What's even more comforting is that they have a bilingual staff (trilingual if dog language is counted). Long time customer. Lots of pluses and minuses. Clean and cute locations. Scheduling is easy. Con, somehow our dog ended up on a twice a year schedule for vaccinations/ visits. I've tried multiple times to fix this but there is no way out, in order to keep up with meds I need to keep the stupid schedule. I, myself, have not seen a doctor in 3 years but my dog goes every 6 months. Second, we initially got misguided with our allergy issues. We got expensive cytopoint injections and other reactive methods for dealing with the horrible irritation. Then someone at the Ravenswood location suggested that we switch food. We went from chicken to salmon and it permanently fixed the issues overnight. Glad we finally got the right answer, but sad for our dog that dealt with the itching and infections for so many years. Been going here 2 years, not any longer. I've had countless appointments many of which I've had to wait after arriving (sometimes up to half an hour). I get it, things happen and it can be hard to juggle things. I've never complained about this once because as I said I get it. Today we showed up literally 1 minute late and were told our sick dog couldn't be seen. I'm not exaggerating when I say 2 minute I mean 3:01 instead of 3:00. Apparently the understanding doesn't go both ways at Boulevard which is insane especially when your dog is sick and there to see a doctor about it. Truly shocked at the lack off consideration from them after going there consistently for years. They have treated my senior dog Violet with the best care. Violet has had her initial exam, blood work and an ultrasound so far and I am very happy with the communication and attention to detail. I know the feeling of going to bad vets and vets that were just ok, but I can 100% say that I will always come back to this vet for my current and future pets for as long they stay in business. All of the vets here are great but I've had the most experience with Dr. Geisler who is very sweet and attentive to my dogs and their needs. The building itself is also well taken care of and up to date. They even recently added a vestibule to keep cold air out of the lobby area which was very thoughtful. I've been going to Boulevard Vet for the last 4 years for my two pooches. The team is always responsive, considerate and kind. The vets take time to answer my questions, and they've been guiding me on proactive treatment as one of my pooches enters her senior years. They are transparent about not just the cost of a treatment, but also about how critical it is at that point in time and whether the treatment can be delayed to a later date. Finally, one of my pooches is a pitt mix rescued from the city pound. The team is not intimidated at all, and they treat her like any other dog. (I've run into situations with other care providers due to her breed, even though she is sweet-natured.) I highly recommend Boulevard Vet for your pet care needs. read more

Update per the response we received. It seems that the entire burden of communication (and thus advocation) rests solely on the patient, rather than Boulevard. At no point did anyone at the office explain what was happening until, or after, it happened. We did consider maintaining a relationship here, as I strongly prefer not to vet hop in the interest of keeping our dogs with a consistent vet who has an idea of their health, history, and any changes, but based on this reply and the obvious lack of communication, observation, and care, we will not be returning. Additionally, oral bordatella vaccinations were marked in both of our dogs records, and there was no communication from Boulevard as to what type of vaccinations they would be receiving until after they had received it. Our dog limped for almost a week after his reaction, and we assumed Boulevard would've notified that he would be receiving something different prior. We also never received a call back from Boulevard regarding our dogs heart worm testing. They told us about two days to expect a call when we were in, and when I called back 1.5 weeks later, they said it wasn't complete. I asked the person on the phone if they could check given how long it had been and what we were quoted and after a few minutes they said they had had results for a few days, and weren't sure why we weren't called. We have vet to receive any information on the CIV vaccine from Boulevard - other than another push below to get it done, which only reinforces for us that Boulevard does not have the best interest and education of their patients in mind. read more

The employees: From the moment we walked in the door, we felt like our pup was a movie star. Fast, genuinely friendly, and impressively competent service across the board - from the reception desk to the nurse assistant to Dr. Dylan himself. We weren't treated like a one-time customer; Boulevard Veterinary approached the visit as the first in a long relationship aimed at keeping our pup healthy and happy. The services: When we wake up tomorrow morning our puppy is going to cry because he's going to want us to take him to the vet again. Even though our little guy was there to get his puppy shots, the staff made sure to spend time playing with the doggy so that he was calm and friendly, and then they distracted him with a bag of doggy treats! He didn't even notice that he was getting shots because he was having so much fun. And they sent us home with a gift bag complete with treats (with the doggy's name on them!), a chew toy, and a toothbrush. Suffice it to say that our little guy was truly sad to leave his new friends. Really sad that the service is this bad, especially from where we were a few years ago. Will bullet it to be concise: Cat had some eye tearing and gunk build up. Obvious infection. Also, found a very small bump, which I thought might be cancer, so naturally I wanted to get them in ASAP. So this happened. - First available appointment was 2 weeks out, so fine, they are good vets right? - Two days before appointment, they mass mail that someone at the location got COVID. That sucks and I'm sorry. They cancelled all the appointments and didn't know when they would be back. This is understandable. I tried calling their other locations, but they were booked already. - Waited another two weeks and finally got an appointment and since it took so long, I wanted to bring both cats, for a check up, but they couldn't see both, BUT they would schedule one on Friday and then next on Monday. That makes total sense?!! Let me call out of work both days. Ugh. Listen, if you're a small business and you're shut down for two weeks, maybe stay open later for a while to make up time? - When I finally had the appointment, they said it was an eye infection, which I had known for a month, but they needed 15 minutes to look at it and tell me that. Fine. - My biggest frustration, is that they couldn't CONTROL my cat to look at the bump for cancer. They even said, he wasn't mean or aggressive, just loud. WHAT?!!? You're a vet and he's a small cat. Siamese are loud, this is known. So, they told me I would have to come back AGAIN with some meds. I had to wait until MID OCTOBER, which is like a month away, all because your techs can't control a 5 pound cat. Look, I don't have the time to keep on coming back and for each cat. - While they weren't much help with that, it didn't stop them from trying to UP SELL their teeth cleaning service hard. I get it. You spent more time talking to me about that, then you did about the eyes or the bump. - Lastly, the check in and check out process was so janky. I understand COVID has thrown everything into craziness, but really, I was calling them, they called me, missed calls, couldn't hear the phone call, because they are right on a busy street and they make you wait outside. So frustrating. Again, I know protocols have changed, but do better. You can. I recommended this place to a few friends in the area and now I wish I hadn't.
