They have great glasses and I generally can get an exam time when I need it but it's definitely one of the pricier places out there and they really don't work with you if you run into an issue. For example, I have a special prescription for my reading glasses. I'm also a finance attorney so I need my glasses to work. I had huge timing issues when I first ordered my glasses. When I complained, they blamed the fact that it was around the holidays and I moved on. More recently, I scratched one of my lenses right in my line of sight. When I called to get the lenses replaced, they first told me they couldn't do anything without me bringing my glasses in because they need to cut the lenses to fit the frame. I then suggested that they probably still had the same frame in the office and they said they could do it but that it would take 7-10 days. I asked if there was any way they could speed it up and they said they would see what they could do and keep me updated. I just called, 4 days later to ask for a status update. I have had a horrible headache all week from staring at this scratch. They didn't even bother to try to work with me to figure out a solution. They didn't offer to check on status they just said "we don't have them" when I asked if they had any status update for me, "No." Long story short, if you need to get in for a quick eye exam, you don't have a complicated prescription and you don't care about customer service, this place has really cute designer frames. If you have a great optometrist that doesn't have the above issues, please message me or comment here! This headache is killing me * I just want to update my review to say that I went back to get my glasses lenses replaced when they came in and wanted to give this place a second chance so when they offered a discount to make me a spare set of glasses, I took them up on it. It's been weeks and I don't have said glasses... no one has called to tell me why they are late. Definitely done with this place. read more

I can't speak highly enough about my experience at West Loop Eye Care. I had never gotten my eyes checked before, so I didn't know what to expect. I was impressed with the waiting room time (very little) and each staff member was kind and helpful. They also did a great job ensuring the safe and health of visitors, checking temperatures at the door and sanitizing machines/glasses, etc. I met with Dr. Shah who was incredibly personable and took the time to explain things to me. Turns out I did need a prescription. I liked that I didn't feel forced into doing anything (getting glasses on the spot), but that I could have fun trying some glasses on. She passed me over to Greg who was extremely knowledgeable about insurance plans/coverage and made it very easy for me when I (unexpectedly) fell in love with a pair of glasses. He and Matt made me feel like I was on a runway doing a fashion show with all of the glasses! When I recently went to pick up my glasses I was met with the same warmth from Matt and provided expert care. If you're looking for an eye doctor who cares about you -- this is your place! read more

This was the first eye appointment that I booked for myself, and I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff and knowledge of the doctors. They took several covid precautions, including sanitizing all equipment, wearing masks, and requiring a form beforehand. Dr. Namrata found my contacts and glasses prescription and now I can see even more clearly! Just keep in mind that the appointment cost is divided to a contacts and glasses portion, so be sure to check what your insurance covers beforehand. The eye exam went well other than the fact that the Dr. pushed me to try some new brand of contacts after explaining to her that I had absolutely zero issues of any kind with my current brand. I told her that the last time I tried a new brand, it was nearly impossible to remove at the end of the day. She said that wouldn't happen with these. Guess what happened? Anyways - that's partly on me, i should have adamantly refused. This wasn't even the worst part of this place, read on. Once done with the eye exam, you're brought to the salesman who gave pricing for a few different options, talking about rebates etc that make her deal so worthwhile. I told her I usually shop at Costco, and she offered to even pull their prices up on the screen to compare. She failed to Mention she had incorporated my $150 allowance from Insurance, even though I had used it already. She had even give me the per box rate (including my insurance allowance), without telling me! I am in sales myself, and find this an incredibly deceitful practice. Sell on convenience. You will never win on price. The sales girl wouldn't give me the quote she drew up since these were her notes, but I took a photo of the prices that "were no longer available" once she learned I had already used my insurance allowance. read more

The staff including Matt, Cole, and Fernando greeted me with a completely paperless check in experience, and cleaned and tightened my glasses upon arrival. I had a previous eye physician who really steered me in the wrong direction; my script was way off on my contacts and glasses and I had spent a lot of money (after insurance) so I was in a really unfortunate position when I called West Loop Eye Care. They went above and beyond to help me with my ordeal; not to mention they gave me incredible discounts because I had used my insurance up for the year. They understood my predicament. Would never come back again even if they paid me... Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. First, the "doctor" gave me the wrong prescription.... twice. Not sure how that happened when my Rx was written down..... Nice. Second, they gave me contact solution that made me scared I was going blind. I checked the reviews on amazon for the stuff they gave me and sure enough... 1 star fuming ratings. Checking your product before distributing it to patients is probably a good idea.... Nice again. Third, this place was more consumed with "making the sale" than providing good care... which I consider to be a crime. They were extremely pushy about buying "the best they had to offer"... pretty sure Tom Ford frames dont provide me with better eyesight than other brands... just saying. I had to argue with the secretary/frame fitter Matt for nearly an hour to get what I was looking for. Not okay..... This is one of the best eye appointments I've ever had. I have chronic dry eyes after Lasik, and Dr. Gamboa gave me some at-home solutions to try before just prescribing medications and treatments (Restaysis, tear duct implants, etc) She really connected on a personal level and I felt very comfortable with her. The store manager, Matt, was so friendly on the phone as well. He had side conversation which was refreshing instead of just registering me.
