I strongly urge anyone considering West Coast Roofing System (WCRS) and its owner, Adam, to think twice before hiring them. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare and has resulted in thousands of dollars in damages, legal threats, and immense stress. Adam and his team botched a sizable roofing job ($24K) by completely covering all the scuppers, which are critical for draining water from the roof. As a result, none of the 7 drain spouts worked, and during heavy rains in January and February of 2024, water overflowed the roof and flooded the building, pouring through windows, ceilings, and walls. This led to $9,000 in water damage to multiple apartments--destroyed window frames, soaked ceilings in bathrooms and bedrooms, and extensive mold growth throughout the units. I had to relocate tenant at my own cost, treat for mold, got violation from city and face legal threats from those affected. When I brought this to Adam's attention, he came to see the damage for himself during the storm, acknowledged the issue, but instead of taking responsibility, he suggested installing gutters--a completely absurd "solution" to the problem he created by blocking the roof drainage system. When I called a gutter company to give me a quote for gutter work, even they told me that flat roofs don't require gutter and they too mentioned the blocked downspouts. I later had the roof inspected by an independent roofer who also confirmed that WCRS had sealed off the scuppers and that they were responsible for correcting it. I relayed this to Adam, and he flat-out denied any wrongdoing. Later, my property management company again contacted Adam to revisit the issue. He showed up, and in a shocking turn of events, he fell off the roof and tried to grab onto electrical conduits and drain pipes while falling down and caused an additional $3,500 in damages--which, once again, I had to pay for. Even after all this, he continued to blame my stucco as the root of the issue, rather than taking ownership of the damage his crew had caused. Eventually, he did fix the blocked scuppers, but then he cut off communication entirely. As of now, he has changed his phone number, office address, and is unreachable to avoid legal action from me--but I am pursuing it. This has been one of the worst professional experiences I've ever had. If you're reading this, save yourself the risk, the cost, and the chaos. So we needed to get our roof done after only moving into this house within a month. We were so lucky to have some heavy rains occur late in spring because we started seeing some random water spots inside the house. Since we had a very old metal roof with composition shingles underneath, it's harder to find all the leaks and repair, so it's better to just get it completely replaced. I did some shopping around, learned about all the things that withholds the quality of the roof, and tried to read between the lines of all the marketing and information that other companies gave in terms of cost. In the end, I decided to opt in with Adam at West Coast Roofing after getting my last set of quotes and getting a next day quote very quickly. One thing I learned with getting the roof replaced is like any project you do for your home, patience is key. Sure we went way past the estimated time for the roof completion, couldn't get hold of inspections on time, still seeing a few nails and debris at the end of each day, and sometimes daily progress felt slow due to how the work was planned. However, there was not a single point where I struggled to reach out to Adam, and he was extremely honest and gave appropriate updates throughout the project. He was also very reasonable with pricing and how we handled the payments during the project, so it was very easy to work with him. He and his team also went above and beyond, suggesting that we replace our skylights and doing that as part of the roof, painting exposed parts of the roof and planks and not just the replaced ones, getting our sunroom roof patched up which was separate, and coming in to check in on the progress daily and being available to us for any questions and issues we had. If I had to get my roof done again (we both hope not soon but he anyways provides a 10 year workmanship guarantee) or elsewhere, I would definitely go to him! Surprised he is still in business. He took a $10,000 deposit and ran, leaving a restaurant asphalt shingle roof barely touched and unfinished in December 2022. Haven't been able to get a hold of him since. A shame considering I thought we had a working relationship but he obviously put that to an end by practically stealing $10k from us. Also, here are photos of a silicone roof he did for us 5 years ago... NOT how a silicone roof should look like with the coloring & how it is falling apart. I have had four dealings with Adam for the past couple of years and here is how it went. My first dealing with Adam was awesome he was on the commercial job with no hassles or problems at all and did a great job. My second dealings with him was about a year ago where's he would take a long time to respond and follow up as it was totally different then the first time but I gave him the benefit of just being busy or whatever. my third dealing with him was a commercial building I bought and wanted him to come redo the faca on the building and it took me 7 calls to get him out to the job after he flaked the first time I finally got him there and his bid was 40 percent higher then the other 2 bids I received so I did not even do the job with him. This recent and final experience was awful and I can't tell you how disappointed I am and extremely upset at Adam. I offered him a job on my Tahoe house and it took me a several times calling him after he would promise to call me each time and never did and it took over a week to get him to give me a bid of 16,500.00 which is in line with other bids I was receiving and wanted to give him the work because I know his work. he committed to do the work and 2 days before he was to go do the job I kept reaching out to him to confirm ith no response then after about 10 calls and a day later he called me and told me he had his friend go look at the home and the pitch was to steep as I told him the pitch was steep from the beginning of our dealings... he told me he would need 20,000.00 to do the job as I really didn't have any other choice because I had other contractors lined up to do other work the following Monday to get done so I was stuck and committed for the highest bid was 23,000.00 but they could not start that Monday but the following so I just ate 3k and agreed with Adams price. He promised me he was on the job and guess what he flaked again and said his father was finishing up another job and could not do it until the following week!!!! I have not returned his text for he clearly knew what was going on and totally messed me up...... I ended up going with the 23,000.00 bid and will get my 3k out of Adam with my free advertising for him and his malicious misconduct. Do yourself a favor and don't get caught up with him as his word is Garbage and there is always 3 sides to a story that's your mine and the truth but the funny thing is I have it all on text messages as it is very clear of the facts and I would be happy to share it with anyone who desires to see them... This company was a waste of time trying to set up an appointment with to get an estimate to fix my roof issues. I contacted 3 vendors all two of them responded within the day to set up an appointment to look at my roof. Adam on the other hand took 3 days before responding to my message. That's ok because people get busy but then he promised to meet me the following week at a specified time. I even texted him pictures and confirmed the time and he responded he would be there and that I have an aged roof and poor previous wood work that is falling apart. I agreed! Flash forward to that morning I text him to confirm the time he set to meet. No response. Then I called him and he didn't respond. I finally asked him that I'm waiting on him to clarify he will meet when he promised. No response and never got back to me. It seems that he didn't like the job once he saw the situation with my roof so he decided to blow me off. We were having a pest problem because there wasn't any plywood under the original concrete tile roof on our house, and rodents were getting into the attic. The tile was over 40 years old, so we decided to do a re-roof. I reached out to 4 different roofers for estimates, including West Coast Roofing. While Adam's bid was very competitive, I chose him because he was extremely professional, patient, and thorough during our first meeting - answering all of my questions and offering some additional ideas around rodent proofing our roof. During the project itself, Adam was very easy to get a hold of via text, phone or email. He made sure to communicate any changes to the timeline to ensure it was the least disruptive to our family. Highly recommend! Adam and his team were super responsive and were able to re-roof my house with top-grade asphalt shingle roofs within a few weeks of the quote. While they were here doing the work, they also replaced all soffit vents, replaced several rotten eves, relocated two attic fans, added two sun tunnels, and relocated a sewer vent -- all in preparation for a solar installation. We used to have a composite tile roof with an old James Hardi Slate product. It was cracking and very brittle. In fact, the company had a class action lawsuit settled, so were able to get some cash back for the damage. But we wanted to replace the roof before any leaks happened this rainy season. We knew virtually nothing about roofing and started to get quotes. The first few vendors were very high priced and pushy. We got referred to West Coast Roofing from a realtor friend late in our process and I'm glad we did. We met with Adam Coronado and were really happy with his low pressure style of educating us on our options. He helped us to narrow down our choice of a Presidential TL shingle. They added OSB boards, cleaned up some areas of wood rot, added a gutter to a small section, and upgraded our attic insulation. And all that for a price that was several thousand less for the same work from other quotes. Adam and his team were very professional, and did their best to keep the area clean every day. Adam even installed some new skylights to replace our old bubble skylights - this required some custom fixturing which he did at a very reasonable price. In total the roofing job took about a week and the skylights a few extra days. Very good work considering COVID times for scheduling. Adam at West Coast is a VERY honest and knowledgeable contractor. We wished we had found him earlier. It would have saved us a lot of sleepless nights. We will use West Coast again if we need any roof or skylight repair or installation. We live in a condo and the HOA is responsible for the roof but we are responsible for the roof and ceiling repair if the damage is caused by the skylights. Several months ago, we noticed there was a leak in the ceiling right around the skylight area. We called the HOA just to see if it was due to a roof leak. The HOA sent some roof vendor out and the roof vendor gave the HOA a very high $$$$ quote to fix the leak and said it might cause more if they find other damages. The roofer would not say what caused the leak. The HOA would not approve the amount and wanted their roofer to come out to determine the cause (for another $$ amount). The leak was reported in April and we waited and waited and no action was taken by the HOA. We kept waiting for approval. We lost many sleepless nights worrying that we might have to pay big money to fix the roof if the skylight was causing the problem. We were also worried about structural damage since the HOA roofer made it sound so bad. Tired of waiting, we called Adam at West Coast. Adam came out within two days and said his estimate would be FREE. Adam spent over 90 minutes up on the roof, on a hot day, inspecting the skylights, the roof, and the A/C (which is also on top of the roof). Adam also did a water test around the area (which the HOA roofer did NOT do). Adam did all these for free, knowing that he might not get the business if the HOA is responsible to fix it. After Adam's thorough inspection, he told us the leak was due to the seal around the skylight. Adam fixed the problem for much much much less than what the HOA roofer quoted us. We had three skylight and he recommended were to order and even offered to place order for us. One of our skylights was a custom made and they were able to make the flashing guard for us at no charge. WCRS did two projects for us back to back-to-back in June 2022. The first one was replacing the roof of an apartment laundry room with TPO and two overhangs. The second was replacing the whole roof of a four-bedroom house. We found Adam very conscientious in supervising and keeping track of the work progress. His crew cleaned up very thoroughly at the end of each day (sweep, blow and use magnet to get rid of stray nails). Adam was very accommodating. We were experiencing a sudden roof leak that was soaking an upstairs corner of our carpet (3rd story of a 3 story town home), right after the Bay Area shelter in place order was issued (great timing right?). I set out to find roofers who were hopefully still working despite the shut down of most businesses, and was happy to have Adam call me back only minutes after I left him a message. Pretty quickly we had scheduled a time to check on the roof. Adam is a very nice and down to earth guy who took the time to evaluate the situation and all of the information I had, and came up with an action plan. Given the kind of craziness we were all experiencing from the sudden shelter in place order, the first visit didn't quite go as expected. While Adam was able to definitely spot some problems and fix up the drainage situation on our roof, it wasn't quite the issue that was causing the main leak. I contacted Adam again once we saw water coming back down the wall from the most recent rain and he was able to schedule us a new time slot despite being swamped with a lot of calls. After I had torn up the carpet and sent over pictures of what we were seeing, Adam felt he definitely knew where the water was coming from. On the second visit he did a more thorough inspection inside the house (again, we were all kind of trying to work within the shelter in place / social distancing orders making the whole situation more difficult), and was pretty confident on his assessment of the photos. Upon inspecting the 3rd story roof he was able to find the place where water was backing up due to clogged gutters and an overly aggressive squirrel barrier. To his credit he didn't charge me for the second visit since the problem wasn't solved the first time around (though the repairs he did on the first visit needed to be done anyway). Overall I've been very happy working with Adam, and I appreciate that he has worked patiently with me even though these are some difficult times to try and get home improvement work done. I'm glad he is responsive over text message and phone, and I have enjoyed chatting with him while he's been around helping with our roofing problems. So far everything is fixed up and drying out, and Adam has been in touch to ensure that the leak stays fixed. I expect I'll be contacting Adam in the future when we need other work done (hopefully more preventative and not new leaks). read more

The next day, Adam arrived and due to the Covid-19, he came prepared with a facemask. After inspecting the roof and providing me with a great estimate, I agreed for him to do the job. I've just had an outstanding experience with West Coast Roofing and it's owner, Adam Coronado. As the maintenance manager for a number of residential group homes for teens, I had a group home that's needed a new roof for the past couple of years. Once the budget was approved, I got 4 estimates before selecting West Coast. The estimates ranged from $15 to $20K and West Coast was right in the middle. I selected West Coast because I was impressed with Adam. He was the only one that took the time to really inspect the old roof, identify the source of the leaks and point out other potential issues and explained what he would do to fix them. His quote was detailed and comprehensive. Once I signed the agreement, he had an opening in his schedule and was able to start in less than a week. He said the job would take 4-5 days and he finished in 4. He consistently answered his phone, answered questions and met me at the job site each day to review progress. Once the old roof was torn off we discovered some hidden issues and additional dry rot that needed to addressed. While I did have to increase my budget, Adam was very fair in his pricing and it was well worth the extra money to ensure the roof would be sound for the next 30 years. The inspection was signed the same day the job was completed and he did everything he said he would. I have no complaints and can't think of one thing that he could have done better. Adam and his crew did a great job re-roofing the house in 9/2018. The old roof had the original tar-and-gravel layer, stacked with 2 layers of shingle. In finding a roofer, I talked to a few companies. West coast roofing is the only one that had the owner Adam coming out to the house. He really knows roofing and explained things (e.g. start shingle, underlayment, roof vent, ...). Plus, talking to the owner of the company feels very differently from talking to a sales person. In short, they fixed dry rot, primed the new wood, and put on the new shingles. They also help put on the gutter guards which I bought from Costco. The new roof looks wonderful.
