Jim did an outstanding job on our roof. Both Jim, Rebecca and Sammy were a great team to work with. The team was professional, efficient, and left our home in great condition. Jim Hageman Roofing were great to deal with. Their pricing was better than the ones I got from Angi. They were on time, cleaned up well after the new roof. I met Jim & Rebecca as customers at my restaurant and kept their contact info. When my mother needed a roof replacement on her rental property I suggested she contact Hageman roofing for a quote, which she did and signed a contract with them. She was extremely pleased with the entire process and the end result. I needed my rental property roof replaced and immediately knew I would use Hageman roofing. They were very helpful in discussing various options for repairs, new gutters and possible upgrades. I also had a deadline for completion for insurance reasons and they were able to accommodate that. The whole process was very professional and they also worked closely with my tenant for minimal disruption. I would highly recommend them. read more

One of my rental houses in San Jose needed a new roof and Jim Hageman Roofing came through with replacing the old roof which was in very bad shape. There was alot of dry rot that needed to be replaced and they did the job which finished looked like it did years ago. I live 3 hours from San Jose so I wasn't at the job site the hole time but it sure looked great after what I saw the workmanship done by Sammy and his crew. I also got to meet Jim and Rebcca and they were great on advising me on any other work if needed. Great people to wohk with. If I needed another roof I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to anyone. Ben R. read more

This is the second time we've worked with Jim Hageman Roofing, and once again, they did a great job. Jim (owner), Rebecca (manager), and the whole crew were reliable and easy to work with. The team showed up on time every morning, stayed positive, and worked hard throughout a multi-day project that included removing the old roof, replacing rotting beams, installing new shingles, and adding all-new gutters. They also cleaned up carefully at the end of each day, which we really appreciated. Before the job started, Rebecca clearly explained the process and what was included in the estimate, and her knowledge really stood out. Their pricing was very fair compared to other bids we received. Highly recommend. read more

The roof of our nearly 70 year old house has been a problem for a long time. Bought in 1967 just after I graduated from high school, I remember my Dad often doing repairs on it for the few years I lived here while going to a local college. And I observed and helped with that process when I'd return home for the next 25 years until he passed. At which point the repair process passed to me. Ten years later after my wife passed, I returned to live in Santa Clara and care for my functionally blind Mother and disabled youngest brother. The weight on me of a failing roof's maintenance grew. Roof tar, plastic cement, mineral roll roofing, even rubber matting were my partially effective tools in my battle. I was able to keep Mom dry until she passed and my youngest brother inherited the house. It got a little sketchy after that with a couple of episodes of buckets under problematic drips until enough plastic cement would thwart the sneaky sources of those drips. Three years ago my neighbor hired Jim Hageman Roofing to put a new roof on. I observed the details of the process, shmoozed with the workers, and listened later as my neighbor expressed his great satisfaction at the top level job they did. They covered everything with OSB, put 4 inches of foam insulation on top, then covered with a heat-bonded sheathing of TPO, snugly surrounding his eight skylights. I remember thinking and saying, "That's what we needed." Two years or so later later when my brother reached 62 we jumped through the hoops to qualify him for a Reverse Mortgage and finally had the money to afford this big project. Unfortunately, in the meantime I had developed the same genetic eye condition as my Mom, Wet Macular Degeneration, and blindness threatened. Selling the house and moving close to my daughter seemed necessary. But Modern Medicine saved my vision; at least for now, with monthly shots into my eyes. We decided to hold on in Santa Clara or Goldilocksland as we call it, as long as possible. But, a disturbing trend had developed here the last few years. Most houses being sold in our neighborhood were being nearly torn down before being rebuilt by the new owners. That would be our homes fate. My being 75 and having fragile eyesight, made putting on the beautiful style roof we had wanted no longer make sense if we or my daughter might need to sell it to care for my brother. But, I gave Jim a call anyway. He and Rebecca came out, checked everything out and listened to our unusual circumstances. They made suggestions and listened to mine for further corner cutting on a lower quality and cost job than they usually do. After a week of idea swapping and negotiations we signed a contract. Five work days later we had our new roof, immediately tested by the first rain of the season. Passed with flying colors. We are delighted. It's beautiful. Several of our neighbors, who can see it from down the street, have stopped to compliment us on it. When I carefully inspected it I found nothing to nitpick about. It's functional, beautiful and I can hardly wait until the skies open so I can smugly take note and enjoy the sound of rain on the roof instead of nervously wondering if my last repair efforts will hold. Two thumbs up to Jim and Rebecca for their empathy and detailed explanations in our discussions. And the job their workers did. And finally thanks also to Juan and Samuel, their two workers. Being bi-lingual and pleasant they were tolerant of my dredging up my dusty high school Spanish, polished a bit by traveling in Mexico and Central America, and laughed with me as I tried to practice it. Top to bottom it was a great experience. And came in many thousands cheaper than my neighbor's job, despite our larger house and the fierce inflation we have all experienced in the last 3+ years. Check them out, especially if you have an unusual circumstance as we do. John Vonderlin read more

It finally came time to see about getting a new roof on my family home. I called a few places - some responded with "We don't do those types of roofs - call this company. Or, did not receive an answer at all. I felt that some bidders were trying to nickel and dime me add on to their services...discouraging. Then came Jim Hageman - the day I called him, he responded quickly by phone and we set up an appointment to meet at my house the following day. He and his wife, Rebecca, listened to what I wanted done and were easy to talk with. They invited me to meet them at one of their current jobs to see the quality of their crews work. They were patient when we asked questions and were straight forward about labor and costs. Jim said that the job would take about a week to complete from start to finish. I also appreciate that Jim offers a 10 year warranty on their work. When their crew started work - they brought their own dumpster trailer and a porta-potty! In the past, I've had other contractors come to do work on my house and, unfortunately, I found some of their workers relieving themselves in my backyard instead of going to the local gas station to use the restroom. Ugh! It's a big deal that they are conscientious about hygiene. The crew arrived promptly at 8am and did a full days work on my roof despite the heat. Jim and Rebecca visited the worksite daily and when I wasn't able to be at home, I received updates either through phone calls or text messages. I'm so happy with the work that Jim and Rebecca Hageman and their crew have done on my roof. I am also happy to support a local small business! I highly recommend their services and in the future, if I need additional work on my gutters and rooftop, they will be the first to call. read more

during this week of horrible storms, I called Jim Hagman roofing as water was pouring into my house. A large hole in my dining room ceiling coming from my tile roof leaking pouring water on my hardwood floors. I received an immediate response Jim Hagman roofing. They came out the same day. Rather than charging me for tarping, they replaced cracked and broken tiles at a very reasonable price. Although they were bombarded with calls, I received 5+ star service. I started my roofing project for my home on Yelp. I picked one roofing company and then Yelp provided recommendations for 2 others. My experience was not so great and the proposals varied very very widely. Dissatisfied, I started looking for roofing companies with positive reviews myself, and I ended up reaching out to Jim Hageman. I am glad I did. Jim and his team responded to my request the same day and Jim himself showed up the next day to take a look at the house. I got a proposal the very next day. I recommend Jim Hageman roofing company for many reasons: Jim Hageman is a roofer but Jim and Rebecca are "down to earth". They are also easy to work with. Jim's bid was very competitive. Also, his bid was structured so that some add-ons were options that I could choose to do or not do. Many other roofing bids were not detailed or just provided one total package value. The overall process was simple to work with. Jim and Rebecca came over a couple of times to show the samples for the shingles before the project started. They also showed up each day after the project work began. We did run into some small glitches. But this is not uncommon. However, Jim and Rebecca had these issues fixed. They were quite responsive. And always answered all my questions. The overall project was well managed. Give Jim Hageman Roofing a try.... read more

I decided that I wanted to put solar panels on my roof this year to take advantage of the federal tax credit in case it's not extended. Although my roof probably had another couple years to go before replacement became an absolute necessity, I decided to replace now before putting on the solar panels. Although Jim was recommended by the solar company I chose, I got 3 roofing bids including Jim's. Jim's price was the best by a significant margin, and I just felt most comfortable dealing with Jim and his assistant Rebecca. So I went with Jim. Choosing Jim was a really good decision. Their work was impeccable, they cleaned up after themselves, and they were easy to work with. When I had questions (and I always have questions), they were clear, concise, and prompt in their responses. They also listened very carefully to what I wanted helping me making the best materials selections to meet my critieria and priorities. I highly recommend! read more

Received a call from Rebecca this morning which at least shows they take Yelp reviews seriously. She explained it wasn't Jim's fault my roof shingles have failed and that the manufacturer was responsible for advertising the shingle as "40 year." Considering Ca. climate and conditions the shingle has faired well. It's my fault for assuming a 40 yr label signified the life of the roof. While I do appreciate the fact they followed up with a call I've moved on to another roofer as I'll need another roof before long. My 40 yr roof is actually a 22 yr roof! My advice is don't accept a term warranty as it's likely just a selling phrase. I give them 5 stars for following up. read more

I was referred to Jim Hageman Roofing by a friend who had recently replaced her roof and was very happy. I, too, am very happy and wanted to share my experience here. First off, they were quick to respond, and followed through exactly as promised. This alone is worth something to me--so many companies these days are unresponsive and inconsistent. Both Jim and Rebecca came to give me the initial quote. They were both friendly, informative and answered all my questions. The quote was provided promptly. Rebecca, in particular, was very patient with me as I tried to decide on the color and type of roofing. Once that was chosen, the team moved quickly, and I now have the exact roof I wanted. The crew was great. They were respectful, and helped answer some of my questions. Also the entire site was kept clean along the way, and they fully cleaned up after they were completed. I would highly recommend considering this company for your roofing needs. I just hope all my future work on my home goes this smoothly! read more

I strongly recommend Jim Hageman Roofing. Jim and Rebecca were extremely professional and patient when making sure all my concerns about replacing my roof were addressed. I have solar that adds one more step to the process. Jim took the lead and worked with my solar company to coordinate efforts. There was a tremendous amount of dry rot that had to be replaced. The problem was addressed professionally, quickly and the woodwork is beautiful-- especially the area that had to be replaced around the chimney. The crew was always on time and hard working. They were courteous and left a spotless worksite each day. Jim and Rebecca were on the job daily inspecting and making sure the job was progressing as promised. When I was in the planning stages of looking for a roofer I got 3 bids. Jim Hageman Roofing was the lowest. But that's not why I picked them. I picked them because I believed they would be hands on and deliver the roof I wanted on time. They did. Fantastic job. read more

I had a very good experience with Jim Hageman Roofing. Jim & Rebecca came out to review my old wood shake roof and made recommendations on how best to replace it with a fire retardant, asphalt composite tile roof. They also replaced all the existing rain gutters and roof flashings. Jim & Rebecca were very nice to work with. read more

The Hageman group did a great job for my little 70 year old house. The crew: Rico, Gustavo and Benjamin did a great job with only one setback, but made up for it the next day. The management: Jim and Rebecca very personal and hands on. When a question of specifications came up and they didn't have an answer, Rebecca got us on a conference call with the manufacturer to settle the matter. Like any old house we ran into problems when the roof came off. The crew consulted me in an impartial manner. It was my choice to do the work or not. No pressure. The tear off crew was fast and cleaned up properly. The gutters crew took 4 hours to complete. Some of my eaves didn't line up (cosmetic) with the gutters (my decision not to centerline and trim) but suggested a fix I can do myself. Anytime a contractor is at your house, you cannot be absent . As steward of your property , You must be focused on the work being done and uphold the finished result you envision. I was on site every day. Inspecting and there for questions and concerns. I have already suggested Jim to my niece who needs her roof done. Oh did I mention that The roof was done on time and came in just under budget? Thanks Jim and Crew! Dave read more

We selected Jim after getting 8 other quotes (!) - they were not only the best priced but also the most friendly and trustworthy. Many others sent salesmen that seemed a bit oily who would start with a very high price, then bargain down step-by-step - not a good sign! Jim, being the owner, gave a fair and firm estimate, and I could trust that if other work was needed along the way, he will be fair and not try to gouge me (turned out to be true). Jim & Rebecca gave us an extensive reference list so we drove around to see the work, and check out the colors and styles. We finally settled on the Presidential TL shingles (Shadow Grey), opted to add ridge vents and had additional work to repair the hog valley and AC framing. Once agreed, they started the work within two weeks. First morning was the teardown, and then Samuel & Juan started putting the new materials which took another 5 days to finish completely. First couple of days, things were a bit messy and one time, they left some loose materials that flew down on our neighbor's yard (which he wasn't happy about)! But they cleaned up well enough each day, and Jim & Rebecca would visit daily so we could review the progress and any issues with them. They were happy to take care of aesthetic issues like misaligned nosing strips, or painting the collars / framing to match the rest of the house. We added a job to paint a flat roof with reflective silicone coating, which they did for a reasonable price. They took care of the permit and inspections (city took a bit longer than expected and didn't print out a nice, final permit in the end). We did our own final inspection with Samuel and he took care of some minor details immediately. We feel the quality of work is good, and the materials / finish look very appealing. Other shops may come across as more slick or professional, and some are certified by the manufacturers so they offer 50 year warranties (GAF Golden Pledge, Certanteed SureStart Plus 5-star, Owens Preferred / Platinum). Jim says he does not pay to be certified and provides his own 10 year workmanship warranty. He also says manufacturer's almost never pay out on warranty as they find some other fault to blame. In the end, we went with Jim's avuncular trustworthiness over dubious warranties & glib salesmen. Time will tell, but so far, we are happy we went with Jim and have no hesitation in recommending him to others! read more

I have just saved everyone days of searching for the best, fair and reasonable roofer - because I checked out a total of NINE local bids before choosing Jim Hageman Roofing. They explain everything before you commit, they don't try to upsell you to things you don't need, and they are two of the most honest and nicest people you'll ever meet. They also came back every day to check on progress and quality of the work. I had two leaks in a flat roof section, and the entire section looked pretty ratty. Now it is clean and looks great - and it was all done in three days at a VERY competitive price. The crew left the area and all surroundings clean, and it is such a relief to have this done! I had to replace my roof after my home warranty suddenly told me they wanted to cancel my insurance within 30 days. In a rush, I talked to 4 roofing companies and decided to go with Jim and Rebecca, mainly because unlike others they didn't push me to do more options, but instead walked me through each of these patiently. It turns out to be a great decision! Jim and his crew finished the work nicely within a week. In the middle of the project, I decided to do solar as well and got a good referral from Jim as well. I contacted Jim after adding a few "Yelp roofers" to a list of a couple other roofers who were recommended to me. In total, I ended up getting 5 or 6 bids on my new roof job on my Los Gatos home. All of the roofers I contacted were professional, knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. In Jim's case, he met me the same day he returned my email and I got his bid that same day. He was also available to start the next week. As I recall, the other roofers who gave me a bid were booked 2-6 weeks out. While I did not need the job started right away, that is what I ended up doing. Jim's price was also the lowest of all the bids. I won't say by how much, but let's just say it was enough to make a notable difference, and it also made me a little bit cautious. But it looks like I made the right choice! After I selected Jim to do the job, he really came through on a few "extras" when it comes to service: Jim followed me out to a couple of houses several miles away to tell me which roof style, brand, and color those were (I liked the color and style but needed Jim to tell me what it was). My roof had a small amount of dry rot and termite damage. The added cost for that work was not much and it was done without delaying the job. I needed to replace 3 skylights. Jim got great prices and coordinated everything for me. The selection of gutters/downspouts Jim gave me did not have a color that matched my house color very well. I showed him another color from another brand given to me by another roofer, and Jim was able to get that color/brand for no extra cost. I had tree trimmers trimming trees and making a huge mess at the same time the roof work was getting done. Somehow, they all got along and coordinated their work without a problem. I put the entire job on my credit card, earning some good miles in the process. And last but not least, Jim's crew and his assistant Rebecca were very friendly. I stopped by the house several times to take a look at the work and shoot a few pics, and the crew would always say hi and ask me how I liked the work so far. Assuming it doesn't leak like a sieve when it starts raining, I would highly recommend Jim Hageman Roofing! read more
