After over a year, we were left with a system that not only didn't work properly but also wasn't able to pass HERS testing and city inspection (3 failed tests and expired permit). They came multiple times to assess the entire situation before giving me a quote and assuring me they could fix the system, get it to pass HERS testing, and complete the permit. They also agreed to take over responsibility for the system. They fully delivered on all those promises. They fixed everything: reinstalled my upstairs air handler, fixed/cleaned up installation across the house, flushed the system and rebalanced everything, etc.. They installed new returns and provided detailed photos to show before/after. They passed the HERS test and got my expired permit sorted out and closed. I also purchased at that time a five year maintenance plan such that A! would come visit my house every six months for tuneups and maintenance - which they have dutifull done ever six months for the past 5 years/ There tuneups have been extensive and comprehensive. I have recently extended that maintenance plan to 2031. The A1 team is *extremely* professional and also very knowledgeable. During their most recent maintenance visit (April 2026), the A1 team led by Sal Leyla diagnosed a small shortfall in the refrigerant levels in the two Trane units and because of me having pre-paid A1 for semi annual maintenance visits, they not only were able to quickly add refrigerant but the cost to me was very affordable. I should also note that based on the professionalism displayed by the A1 Team back in 2021, five of my neighbors also hired A1 to install air conditioning units. Asked about having them diagnose that problem and also do routine cleaning on the that A/C and on a separate heat pump that services our ADU. Lady who took the call was very nice and patient. She explained that a diagnostic visit was different from a maintenance call, so we first set up two separate appointments. Then she said "wait a minute" and after a minute said there was a service guy who was willing to do the cleaning as well. Kenny came out the next week, inspected and cleaned both units, and also explained that the MERV 13 filters we've been using are probably straining our condenser and for everyday use a lower filter would be better. Everything's clean and working well now and the price was very reasonable.

The installation crew (Jose & Ernesto) came out to install. They were on time, professional and got the job done all in one day where other companies were saying at least 2 days. They left the areas clean and in working order. I was a little hesitant at first because finally owning our own home we are careful on who we have do work because of all the horror stories we hear and "extra" money that can occur of you hire the wrong people. So because of that we look at experience and how long someone is licensed. So with them being licensed for what I considered a shorter time, I was hesitant. Another plus was that from time of contact to time of installation they were ready to go. Other companies were at least 2 weeks out. They were also great with being responsive and flexible with scheduling, which was important since I had very little time. Max, the owner, came himself, despite this being a very small job, and very late in the day -- I think this demonstrates a very strong commitment to his customers. He was very courteous, punctual and made quick work of disconnecting my condenser. I was happy to hire Promax again a few weeks later to come back and reconnect the condenser. This time it was a different tech (Kostas), but he was also very friendly and professional. He reconnected the condenser and it's been working perfectly since. These guys are great, and very reliable. I will definitely be calling Promax again the next time I need HVAC service! Thanks guys!

Albert from promax was quite knowledgeable about all things HVAC and also about Menlo Park specific rules. Since they seemed most knowledgeable and reasonable with pricing for a new Mitsubishi system, I went ahead with them. Permit was approved in May and installation by Max in early June. All went smoothly without hiccups. Nick and other staff from customer service were quite responsive whenever I reached out. So appreciate that!
