Wow! The seafood is fresh and nicely prepared! I really enjoyed the fried fish and prawns. The large portions were very filling and tasty. They've perfected their prep and it was probably the best fish and chips I've had, including from coastal restaurants. The house made tartar and cocktail sauces were delish! The fries were perfectly fried with a crispy shell and soft center. Oh and the hush puppies, while small, were so full of flavor! Overall, this seafood was wonderful. Part of my family is not into seafood. They do have chicken strips and a chicken sandwich as options, which was fine. I'm told it wasn't anything too special, just regular chicken strips, but the fries and house ranch, definitely make a difference. The service was welcoming. We arrived 30 minutes before they closed and they make your food once you order it so next time, I'll allow more time. However, we ate and weren't rushed, allowing us to savor the meal. Came here on a Saturday for dinner. Order at the counter and they bring the food to you. We got the fish and clam strips and fish and scallops. The fish was tender and the portion was large. The (London style) batter (versus breading) was fine though the fish did not have a lot of flavor--to be fair, fish and chips in general is not really flavorful. The clams seemed like they were out of a bag--do not recommend. The scallops were ok, but I thought they tasted too fishy. I grew up in New England, so I tend to have a high standard for seafood. Tartar sauce was just ok, but cocktail sauce was good. Fries also not a lot of flavor. 9 tables inside with sea decor and a few tables outside. Hadn't been here in a bit nor updated my review. Saw that they had catfish and just had to try. Catfish was nice and thin with cornmeal. It was very good. The side of scallops was done in their fish and chip batter. I liked them, but my wife did not. And the fries? Hot but terrible. I do not recommend fries, but it does come with the fish. A classic, clean English-style fish and chips. The fried oysters, prawns, and hushpuppies are all delicious. The scallops might be the best thing on their menu. They are succulent, naturally sweet, meaty, and fried in a well-seasoned, crispy batter. Along with the fish, the scallops are always on my list of things to order whenever I am here. Some of the side dishes and appetizers I have enjoyed here include the following: Prawns, oysters, calamari strips, clam strips, fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw. The prices are very reasonable as well. They use cod caught in Alaska, so the filet is tasty and huge. One piece of fish comes with fries (hence the fish and chips) for only $5.25. Two pieces of fish are only $7.99. I have read mixed reviews on their clam chowder but have yet to try anything on the menu to suggest I would not like it. Unlike many, if not most, fish and chip restaurants, they keep the restaurant clean - which includes the tables, chairs, floors, and even the vents. The owners are Korean and a husband/wife team. Usually, it is just these two working at the restaurant. The husband prepares the food and does the cooking. The wife takes the orders and sometimes helps with the food preparation when there is an overflow of customers and order requests. They could not be nicer, appreciative of our patronage, and humble. So, please be patient and considerate when things get busy. High-quality fish and seafood fried to perfection. Friendly service. It is one of the best fish and chip places I have been to in years and, in my opinion, easily the best in town. It was a 30 minute wait but that was ok. There is sitting inside and they have some patio seating. The menu is small and prices are not that expensive. I decided to try the 2 pieces of fish and fries and an order of hush puppies. They do have onion rings but during lent on Friday they do not fry vegetables. I will say I was impressed by the fish. The pieces are huge! Very delicious and not greasy at all. I noticed some reviews didn't care for the fries, but the fries were delicious as well. The hush puppies were a bit on the dry side, I would like to try them again when they aren't busy. The staff was great even though they were busy, they were still cleaning and busing tables. I was craving battered-style chicken strips, and since I had been to the West Coast Fish and Chips in Fresno before, I expected the same quality. Unfortunately, it was horrible. The chicken looked like Tyson frozen chicken strips. It was utterly disgusting. I had to spit it out. The prawns were good, and I'd give them a four-star rating, but the coleslaw was watery and not good. The fountain drinks tasted like tap water, and you could clearly taste the chlorine. I was very disappointed because the West Coast Fish and Chips in Fresno is usually amazing. I almost threw up. Have you ever bitten into chicken that's been frozen too long and then cooked? First time trying this place out after years of driving by their other location, and I'm so glad I did. I got an order of the fish and chips, shrimp, and clam chowder. I love that the food is made fresh when you order and the service was very friendly, you can tell there were lots of repeat customers. The space looked clean and there was a small area to wait for your order. The fish was delicious and crispy and I loved the shrimp, I wish I had ordered more (will do next time). We spent about 94$ here first off the fries are horrible no seasoning at all. I got a small clam chowder and it was bland and the bits of clam were so chewy. I got the catfish and I felt like it was bland but the fish seemed to be good quality. I also got the fish and chips and same thing very bland heavy on the batter but good quality fish. We got scallops as well and those were kinda chewy but very heavy on the batter. The star of the show was the cocktail sauce it literally saved everything. He ordered 3 fish, 1 chicken with fries and side salad. I didn't want to over do it so I only had half a fish and half a chicken strip with a side salad. I was content with just a few bits of the fish and chicken. The seasoning was perfect with a few splashes of hot sauce! We didn't care for the fries though. The store was a bit stuffy even with the doors open and fans on. After I ordered, I waited for my food inside when I got outside I can smell the fried foods on my clothes and hair. I'll have to wait outside next time and order by phone. Customer service was great. I think there were only two people working. The man that cooked and the lady that took care of everything else. People going in and out and the two people were able to keep up. We didn't wait long at all for our food. Our food tasted like it was freshly fried. Stopped in today for lunch. We live near another West Coast Fish and Chips in Fresno. I thought they might be related, but they are not. So much about the 2 places is sooo similar you'd think they were owned by the same people. That said..the shop is small but clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was a bit chilly inside. I live life with a service dog and b this place gets Baileys 4 paws up. No issues, easy tables to accommodate under and the floor is nice and clean. The food arrived after a reasonable wait. I ordered the fish and clams combo. They offer up coke products here. The fish was perfectly cooked amd the clams were nice and sand free. I'm not a fan of the French fries, but that's just me. The tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were nicely made/ presented and they will give more upon request. The prices here are a little cheaper than the other shop, but the food is just as good. If I'm in the area again around feeding time I'd stop in here again. read more

This is old school fish and chips. And that means it was delicious and fresh and did not disappoint. Everything came out hot and crispy and I especially liked their sauces too! We ordered their clam chowder and it was yummy with nice portions of clams and potatoes. Had the fried fish, shrimp, okra, and mussels. I appreciate the batter being light and crispy. I have always wanted to try this place, so a week ago the littles and I stopped in for lunch. It's a small quite place that has a kind of off to the side entrance. Loved that they had a patio since inside is kind of a tight pace. Food we got Clam chowder 12 oz $4.99- rating 2.5/5 , unfortunately this was a let down for me cause I love clam chowder but this just felt like a flavorless potato soup with some clams but it did have a lot of clams. 3 piece fish& chips $13.99 - 3/5 , this one was hard to rate cause the kids liked it but the problem was the batter was too thick for me and it didn't stick to the fish . This fish literally just fell out of the batter shell. The fish was thick and fresh though. The chips(fries) were a bummer cause they were over cooked and no seasoning. The kids did really like the tater sauce Fried vegetable combo $7.99- 4.5/5 This I really enjoyed, even though it was a little too greasy at times but man I love fried zucchini and theirs was really good! Have probably driven by this place thousands of times but never tried it until this past weekend. This is family run and they are extremely nice. Ordered fish, shrimp, clams, a chicken salad and chicken sandwich. All of these were very good. The batter is tasty and not too heavy and the fish tasted fresh. Loved the shrimp and clams. My son got the fried chicken salad that had peanuts in it along with a vinegarette dressing. He said that it sounded weird but worked. Best of all was that it was dirt cheap.
