Came here to eat and celebrate our cousin since she's newly engaged! The owner Omar (I think that's his name) was in on the surprise dish coming out and a shot for her to take. It was pretty packed in there. Jukebox was on. Had the music playing. They were still attentive to us. Started off with a margarita and got some food to share family style together. We did a mocajete.. sauce so buttery and has a nice kick. We did ceviche the al tata one. That's one of my favorites. And someone ordered Diablo shrimp. Everything was bomb af. After a long / hot day at the lake I was really hungry and found this restaurant on yelp . I've been really wanting to try Molcajete and it looked like this restaurant specializes in seafood . They have a pretty extensive menu ! We ordered the seafood molcajete and the carnitas plate . Both dishes came with plates full of rice / beans and a side salad . The carnitas plate was delicious , super crispy and yummy shredded pork . The molcajete Mariscos was amazing . It came with huge prawns , super tender octopus , crab legs , regular size shrimp , and super juicy clams . The sauce was also savory and garlicky kind of reminded me of Cajun but not really . This portion was huge and easily could have fed a family . I barely made a dent in it !!! I enjoyed my time here so much and cannot wait to come back . Next I will try the meat molcajetes! read more

I grew up in San Francisco so I have a very skewed history with Mexican food. I grew up in the Mission where burritos were king. I never really tried anything else besides burritos, tacos, quesadillas and nachos growing up. So when we moved to the Central Valley I was a little shocked to learn that the food out here is different. Boyyyyyy I never had Mexican food like this before and I was so mad that I missed out my entire life. Like no one told me about this. It felt like eating at someone's home. The food tasted like it was prepared with love. I looked around and saw entire families enjoying the food and laughing. The vibe was great and the food was so good. We were greeted and told us to seat wherever we like. There was plenty of room. It was early on Friday evening. Our waiter was nice and helpful. We ordered the food and while we waited there were some live music there. They were going through tables asking if they would like a song to be sung for them. We didn't want any songs. The food arrived on decent time. My daughter ordered two quesabirrias and I ordered the shrimp ceviche. Everything was good and it seemed that food was prep to order. The quesabirrias had the original flavor of birria and cheese. Which she loved. They are pretty satisfying. She said maybe next time she orders only one because she got very full with two. On the maps it shows up as "Ceviche & Beer;" it's the same company. Absolutely love this place! It's better than Culichi Town and it's affordable (in my opinion). I've gone here twice. The first time I ordered Tostada al Habanero, super spicy and so delicious. This time we ordered the aguachiles and carnitas! So freaking bomb! Literally mouth watering! The place is chilly but it's well lit, have a bunch of TVs that display games and they have good service. My first time coming to this spot for a friends birthday and I got to try many things off the menu. We had ceviche, oysters, tacos and the star of the show was the Seafood Molcajete. This Molcajete gets heated up real hot to serve this seafood dish sizzling, it comes with crab legs, fish filet, mussels, octopus, giant shrimps head on, a clam on a pool of shrimps on the bottom all smothered in a seasoned garlicky sauce which reminded me of Cajun almost. It's served with a side of beans, salsa, rice and choice of corn or flour tortillas. Definitely a shareable dish with a friend or loved one. On Fridays, it's BOGO seafood or meat Molcajete. The service is nice and fast, the food came out in a timely manner where I didn't have to wait too long. They do serve complimentary salsa and chips before you order. The waitress was friendly and did come by to check if you're enjoying your food and fills up your water cup. It's quite festive inside and well lit during the day time. First red flag: the salsa was like semi spicy water Second red flag: I ordered the michelada doble, with dos equis (honestly very good, the only reason I am giving two stars) but my husband just asked for a corona- they brought him a corona michelada doble. He had to send it back Final straw: I ordered the pina tropical (pic attached), and the server repeated it back to me. She brought out some kind of beef plate with nopales, rice, and beans (pretty sure it was the carne asada plate- menu pic attached). I told her I ordered the pina tropical, and she had the audacity to tell me that this was the pina tropical, they're just out of pineapples. ARE YOU JOKING, I may be blonde but how dumb do you think I am? The pina tropical is only seafood- shrimp, octopus, and abalone simmered in a sauce with cheese. She brought out some fried beef with cactus- there is ZERO similarity! I cancelled our order after that. Don't try to tell your customers that seafood and beef are the same thing just because YOU made a mistake. Definitely not coming back, even if the michelada is bomb. read more

What a great find! Ever since my Mariscos spots shut down on Shaw and sixth street I've been looking for another great place to get Mexican seafood dishes, preferably done in and great ambience. We came here today and have mixed feelings. First I will touch on the positive- The Ceviche was great. It had a variety of seafood and was fresh. The portions were large, which is good since the prices are high. Now the not so good- the fish tacos were not good. They had too much slaw and no flavor. The fish did not taste fresh and had super thick batter. The service was not the best either. Although we got there before a large group, it took a long time to get waited on and the server seemed annoyed that she had to serve us. After we finally had our order taken the waitress basically disappeared until our food came out and then we did not see her again until I went up to pay. The servers were definitely making sure that the other patrons who were ordering a lot of alcohol were taken care of but I feel like we were not on their radar. I was craving for shrimp ceviche and decided to go here. The food was delicious! We got the devil shrimp, shrimp ceviche, fish taco and shrimp taco. I was very pleased with everything that we ordered. We also got a margarita and their Paloma drink. The shrimp taco was batter shrimp like a usual batter fish taco, that made it a bit heavy in my opinion. It's different to what I'm use to. It is a bit on the pricier range but it is seafood so of course I expected that. I can't wait to go back and try out their other dishes. read more

So I came here for lunch with my friends yesterday and they have been here before so they did warn me that it could take looong but our experience dinning in was great. Our michis were so so good! Probably one of the best I've had. And I'm a michi girl. Also the food didn't take long to come out at all and it was delicious!! I recommend the shrimp tacos they were spot on!! If I could give some advice to the owner it would be to have more staff during lunch hour. When I arrived it would have been nice to be created by someone but instead I just stood to the side until the waitress helped me. You should definitely have more than on waitress on shift. Wow, what an absolute disaster this place is! I came here with my wife and a friend of ours. To start, we ordered drinks. I ordered a corona, and they ordered Micheladas. Their Micheladas were pretty good, but they brought me out a huge Michelada with 2 coronas! I don't like Micheladas, so I took it back. The waitress brought me out the Corona that I asked for. We then ordered food. I forget what food we ordered, but our friend ordered her meal which was ok, but the meal my wife and I received was clearly not what we ordered. The waitress took it back, and brought the same dish out again and tried to tell us that it was what we ordered! What we ordered was a seafood dish, and this plate clearly was beef! At this point we just cancelled our food order. I would have given possibly a 2 or 3 star review because they liked the Micheladas. HOWEVER... When we came to pay, they tried to charge our friend for her food and drink AND the food and drink we cancelled/sent back!! We did kick up a fuss and got that corrected. Then she got to our check. SHE HID THOSE ITEMS IN OUR BILL INSTEAD!!! Again, we got that corrected, and left no tip because she tried to screw us over twice!! I hope this place closes down, this goes down as one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had! read more

This place was recommended to me by a friend, I love sea food towers and I looked at the menu and the food towers looked good. I decided to go and ordered the Torre Cevichera, it looked good on the picture but very disappointing! The vegetables (tomatoes and cucumber pieces) were old, soggy not firm at all, the raw shrimp had a weird taste and the juice that was supposed to have did NOT looked anything like the picture (I'll post pictures, the last picture is what it was supposed to be with the juice around it). The food tower lacked flavor, it seems as they just added the sea food without the lemon. It tasted as if tower was sitting there for a long time and the tostadas tasted stale. I did paid $29.99+tax and I brought it to the servers attention and they said that it was not posible because everything was fresh and for next time to let them know before paying so they can make a fresh one (by the way I only was able to eat 2 tostadas with very little sea food thinking it was just me), we actually brought home more than half of the tower but didn't eat it we threw it away because I got sick from my stomach. They didn't apologized nor offered a discount. Following day all day I was still sick from my stomach. I called the restaurant ceviche and beer and explained what happened, they transfer my call to another person, I explained everything and she said she was there when I had told them what what's wrong with the food and she once again said that she went back with the cookers and told them and they said that everything was fresh that they prepared everything the day before, the moment she said that I said nope that's NOT FRESH! And she said next time you come let us know and we will give you a discount. I told her there was no way I was going back, one night sick from my stomach, 1 full day still sick No way and they still claimed everything was fresh after the fact she said everything gets prepared the day before. read more
