1. The food is overpriced, especially entrees. It make no sense. Why is everything priced at $38? I have been to some of the best italian restaurants in the country and rarely see a pasta dish priced so high absent truffles. Why would this restaurant be suddenly unique and superior? 2. Most of the savory food was poorly cooked. Over-salted, over-heated. I did enjoy some of the appetizers and the desserts. 3. The restaurant has a genuine identity crisis. I don't know what the staff issue is like but I know they need more of it, it did take awhile to get service, but the server was super nice and informative to please bear with him. First time here and glad to say I will be returning. The order: The Guajillo braised short rib was so flavorful, tender, and filling. Love the mash potatoes as the side for the dish just to break the fattiness of the short rib. Super filling dish and was very good. The sauces were excellent. A group of us girls went to have dinner here last night to celebrate a birthday and also because a majority of us had never been here before. We made a reservation before hand just to ensure a table would be available upon arrival and of course it was ready and garnished with beautiful fresh flowers. The drinks were tasty. I ordered the Berry Mocktail and I liked that it wasn't too sweet. For appetizers I ordered the Gabe some guac, salsa and chips and for myself the spicy shrimp on guac covered tostadas but decided to share them instead of being selfish. Lol. For myself main course, I ordered the Mary's chicken. It was tasty. I loved the char and crispy chicken skin that topped the moist chicken breast. The blue corn tortillas served with it were delicious. I love blue corn tortillas and it's a treat when a restaurant actually carries them. I didn't have room for dessert but I thought "eh why not end the evening with a band" and ordered the churro dessert. I am so glad I did because it was worth every calorie. When my check arrived I knew it would be pricey but all in all it wasn't that bad. Sam the manager served us with excellence from start to finish.. He was very kind, patient, and offered us great suggestions when we were unsure of our selections. He provided stellar service and was always checking in to make sure we were okay. I honestly don't know why this place isn't packed all the time. The cocktails are great and the seasonal rotating menu is excellent. I have tried so many things here that I would never have tried otherwise because every dish is so well conceived and executed. The staff are so nice and friendly and the service is fast. We went there for a casual dinner and liked the ambience, interior, the service. Our waitresses were good and took a good care of us, very nice and kind people. We ordered only entrées since the main dishes were so casual that didn't make sense for us to order, however the entrées had interesting combinations, and they were testing so good. The ice cream churros were sooo good, I would go back for that The most important is all the ingredients that came with our order were so fresh, and we enjoyed it. Next time would love to see something interesting in main menu. Besides the ordinary mains that alsmot all restaurants offer please include your signature dishes similar what you are already doing with your entree's. Having friends that share the same love of food and local businesses is a huge win in my book. My fellow 10 year yelper, Lorraine treated us tp delicious mini shrimp tostadas and chips and guacamole. Four of us had dinner here the other night, and really enjoyed our experience. Cocktails were excellent, the guacamole appetizer and the selection of salsas was also really good. They don't give you enough chips, though, so be ready to ask for more. Decided we were going to do apps and got the ceviche, shrimp mini tostadas and the birria quesadillas...$80 later and well, I honestly won't be coming back....i don't have a problem paying $80 I just have a problem paying $80 for something I could've made at home. The ceviche was great I'll give them that but the shrimp mini tostadas were not very good- the shrimp was flavorful but the guac was just mashed avocado with no seasoning or salt. The birria quesadillas were the best thing we had all night but for the price point it was kinda whack. The food is unique and modern, and the service has been excellent on every visit. It reminds me a bit of of Saizon...but I definitely prefer Tabachines! We started with cocktails at the bar which not only looked beautiful crafted but also tasted delicious. we were then escorted to our table by the window, which was a beautiful setting. Went for a date night with my wife after making reservations, was our last date night before we welcomed our son into the world. We were seated quickly and the staff was very attentive and very helpful in helping us make choices and helping us decide what we wanted to drink. My wife got a mocktail and I decided to grab a glass of red wine to start off and we shared their market salad which had stone fruit, cheese and a delicious vinaigrette. For the entrée I picked the grilled prime rib and asked for medium rare, this thing was the perfect medium rare with the perfect amount of grilled lines and salt on top, and the sides went so well together with the prime rib. We decided to do dessert when I saw crème brulee was on the menu, anywhere I go in Fresno I try their crème brulee. It was a let down, it was never set and was watery, plus the top was slightly burnt, the flavor inside was great despite it not setting. The manager and our server apologized for the crème brulee and did not charge us for it, which we appreciated, (we get it sometimes things happen) but we were thankful they made it right for us! Definitely will try this place again once our lives calm down a bit and we need another date night! read more

Our first time to visit this restaurant. We will be going back. Walked in tonight, sat at the bar and Kim took care of our food order and drink order. We Started with the ceviche which was the freshest I have ever had. Flavor combinations were fantastic. We ordered the braised short ribs and it was also excellent. The meat was perfectly cooked. For dessert we had the toffee brownie à la mode and it was a great end to a very nice dinner. While there we talked to another couple who visit this restaurant weekly and sit at the bar. The place was clean and the staff were very accommodating. Lot's of hard wall surfaces and not a huge seating area so I imagine it can be a little noisy but we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. As I said, we will go back and we have already decided on the next two dishes to try. The menu choices look great and so we thinking we could go back 5 or 6 times before we have to repeat an entree. My husband decided to come here for a date night on a Thursday before becoming a family of three. The atmosphere is clean, modern and welcoming. We had a reservation and were immediately seated. I will say that the service is top notch. The staff is attentive and I really appreciated that. I started off with their Jamaica mocktail and it was tart and refreshing. We also shared their market salad which paired well with the stone fruit, cotija cheese and vinaigrette. For my entree I went with the Seared salmon. It's on a bed of pesto orzo with dill and cream. It's phenomenal! The flavors just pair so well together. For dessert we did go with the crème brûlée as my husband is on a mission to find the best one in town. However, the one that was brought out wasn't fully set, although the flavor was still good! However, our server was able to notice without us even saying anything and she offered to bring out a new dessert, but we were just full at that point. As a Latina, I take the word "authentic" with a grain of salt. It's almost impossible finding a restaurant that really captures the essence of Hispanic dishes. Or so I thought. This restaurant had been highly recommended to me and I finally got to experience it. My gosh was it an experience. To start we had reservations for 7:30pm, we arrived about an hour early due to schedule conflict but with a hope that they would seat us anyway. The hostess (the owner) promptly sat us and exuded great customer service the whole evening. My parents and I found it very respectful that she conversed in Spanish with us. Just this alone was already leaning me towards a high rated review. And then we had the food. Which sealed the deal. The guacamole was so fresh which paired wonderfully with the perfectly salted tostada chips. The shrimp appetizer had the perfect amount of spice, I will definitely order it again. My plate was the chicken mole. Now this was amazing. The chicken was juicy and splendidly crusted which when dipped into the mole made it the perfect combo. The mole was not too sweet nor spicy. You could literally taste every single ingredient that was toasted. All this paired with the perfect sweet wine tied it all together. My parents both agreed that their plates definitely made it to their top 5. Coming from them says a lot. As for the desserts our favorites were the churro and the cheesecake. The only regret we have is that we decided to share our desserts rather than getting our own. We won't make that mistake again! The food: 〰 Charred Ceviche (10/10): This was so so fresh! Not overly fishy; had the perfect bite with the radish, cucumber, and red onion. The fresno chilis in it added the perfect kick. 〰 Crab Croquette (7/10): This was pretty good! I think I'm not that much of a crab cake girlie so take my ranking with a grain of salt. My family enjoyed it! So if you like crab, you'd love it I'm sure. 〰 'Saucy' Salmon (9.5/10): I am DEFINITELY a salmon stan. This was yummy. I had their peach margarita which is on its way out since summer is done. It was very refreshing. I chose their chicken mole as there wasn't really anything else that peaked my interest. I was hoping they had soup but I didn't see it offered. The chicken mole was good. The chicken itself was a little on the dry side but once you covered it in mole it did the trick. The service was good. The atmosphere started out quiet but as the evening wore on it was a little too loud and we couldn't hear our conversation. It's worth a try. read more

This is probably the easiest 5 star rating that I have provided in awhile. The decor is great and staff is super nice. Rather than grab a main course, we decided on drinks and appetizers. The shrimp tostadas were good, though I actually preferred pulling the shrimp off and eating them separately. The fish tacos were excellent with a crema that took it over the top. They were also huge and could be a meal in itself. The star of the night was the burrata and chorizo. That was out of this world. From sit down to leaving was about 30 minutes and we can't wait to come back and try more. read more

Why would you want to eat anywhere else in Fresno? After Tabachines Cocina moved from LA to Fresno, it has become a staple for my family & I. I've celebrated birthdays, anniversarys, holidays, and even came here the night before our rehearsal dinner for a bridal party meal. Being vegan, it's pretty tricky finding places I can eat and trust they know what I mean. But Tabachines has never failed to come through for me. The service is outstanding every time, the vibe is always relaxed and calm, and we are always blown away by whatever chef is able to make for us that night. I pray that they one day bring back my favorite drink, The Mexican Space program but for now the Paper Crane hits the spot.
