Such a cute place for drinks, girls night, or date night. We tried the lamb birria quesadilla to start. The tortilla was crisped well, and the shredded lamb was so tender. The "consommé" was the texture of bbq sauce, and it paired well as a sauce to dip in. The bbq tri tip torta was delicious also. Thick sandwich with caramelized onions made the perfect entree. Came with fries also that were pretty much also perfect. I ordered the chorizo bolognese. The sauce was excellent, but I wish it brought out more of the classic chorizo flavor or some spice. Maybe the tomato drowned it out? I thought we were set on getting a bottle of wine for the table but the lavada cocktail caught our eye as it said "limit 2 per person." Asking why this was the case, our waiter said its because they make limited amounts because it's a long process to clarify the rum. My partner & I both ordered it just because of this. And let me tell you, this is one of the best drinks I've ever had. It was a smooth pineapple rum with coconut. No nasty alcohol taste at all. Goes down like juice, so good thing there's a limit! Monthly dinner with friends night. What a wonderful restaurant. Cool atmosphere. Staff is warm and welcoming. We started off with the Lavada cocktail. It was delicious! They make this cocktail in batches daily. It's so tasty and you will be lucky to get one. We also added the Spicy Shrimp Tostadas and the Papas & Requeson. Both tasty and complemented each other, they had a little kick but not overly spicy. Our main courses were Guajillo Braised Short Rib and Grilled Berkshire Pork Chop. Again, delicious. They have a way with local produce and meats. Topped it off with Lemon Basque Cheesecake and Strawberry Sorbet. The cheesecake was creamy, sweet and tasty. I don't know what the staff issue is like but I know they need more of it, it did take awhile to get service, but the server was super nice and informative to please bear with him. First time here and glad to say I will be returning. The order: The Guajillo braised short rib was so flavorful, tender, and filling. A group of us girls went to have dinner here last night to celebrate a birthday and also because a majority of us had never been here before. We made a reservation before hand just to ensure a table would be available upon arrival and of course it was ready and garnished with beautiful fresh flowers. The drinks were tasty. I ordered the Berry Mocktail and I liked that it wasn't too sweet. For appetizers I ordered the Gabe some guac, salsa and chips and for myself the spicy shrimp on guac covered tostadas but decided to share them instead of being selfish. Lol. For myself main course, I ordered the Mary's chicken. It was tasty. I loved the char and crispy chicken skin that topped the moist chicken breast. The blue corn tortillas served with it were delicious. I love blue corn tortillas and it's a treat when a restaurant actually carries them. I didn't have room for dessert but I thought "eh why not end the evening with a band" and ordered the churro dessert. I am so glad I did because it was worth every calorie. When my check arrived I knew it would be pricey but all in all it wasn't that bad. Sam the manager served us with excellence from start to finish.. He was very kind, patient, and offered us great suggestions when we were unsure of our selections. He provided stellar service and was always checking in to make sure we were okay. We went there for a casual dinner and liked the ambience, interior, the service. Our waitresses were good and took a good care of us, very nice and kind people. We ordered only entrées since the main dishes were so casual that didn't make sense for us to order, however the entrées had interesting combinations, and they were testing so good. The ice cream churros were sooo good, I would go back for that The most important is all the ingredients that came with our order were so fresh, and we enjoyed it. Next time would love to see something interesting in main menu. We have been here several times over the years and have always enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere but not tonight. There were six of us who started out at the bar and were greeted, if you can call it that by a less than friendly bartender. He wasn't out going, fun or charming and had no redeeming qualities. The food was good which is why I am giving 4 stars but the restaurant was very warm throughout the night. It felt like it was being cooled by a swamp cooler. I will say it is so important for the first point of contact at a business, that the person should be greeting you with a smile and be engaging with the patrons. He did not. So very disappointed and won't be going back. There are too many other locally owned restaurants that we would rather continue to support. I would suggest to the owner that he be reassigned to a position that doesn't involve customer interaction. read more

They don't give you enough chips, though, so be ready to ask for more. I ordered a beer only to have it served in a wine glass??? Decided we were going to do apps and got the ceviche, shrimp mini tostadas and the birria quesadillas...$80 later and well, I honestly won't be coming back....i don't have a problem paying $80 I just have a problem paying $80 for something I could've made at home. The ceviche was great I'll give them that but the shrimp mini tostadas were not very good- the shrimp was flavorful but the guac was just mashed avocado with no seasoning or salt. The birria quesadillas were the best thing we had all night but for the price point it was kinda whack. Finally dined here 3 years after watching Dine and Dish. Fantastic place! Very nicely decorated,cool place. We were sat immediately, unfortunately at a small table, which the owner apologized for. Small table was fortunate because we would have filled every inch of a larger table with plates! I have been to some of the best italian restaurants in the country and rarely see a pasta dish priced so high absent truffles. Why would this restaurant be suddenly unique and superior? 2. Most of the savory food was poorly cooked. Over-salted, over-heated. I did enjoy some of the appetizers and the desserts. 3. The restaurant has a genuine identity crisis. We started with cocktails at the bar which not only looked beautiful crafted but also tasted delicious. we were then escorted to our table by the window, which was a beautiful setting. As a Latina, I take the word "authentic" with a grain of salt. It's almost impossible finding a restaurant that really captures the essence of Hispanic dishes. Or so I thought. This restaurant had been highly recommended to me and I finally got to experience it. My gosh was it an experience. To start we had reservations for 7:30pm, we arrived about an hour early due to schedule conflict but with a hope that they would seat us anyway. The hostess (the owner) promptly sat us and exuded great customer service the whole evening. My parents and I found it very respectful that she conversed in Spanish with us. Just this alone was already leaning me towards a high rated review. And then we had the food. Which sealed the deal. The guacamole was so fresh which paired wonderfully with the perfectly salted tostada chips. The shrimp appetizer had the perfect amount of spice, I will definitely order it again. My plate was the chicken mole. Now this was amazing. The chicken was juicy and splendidly crusted which when dipped into the mole made it the perfect combo. The mole was not too sweet nor spicy. You could literally taste every single ingredient that was toasted. All this paired with the perfect sweet wine tied it all together. My parents both agreed that their plates definitely made it to their top 5. Coming from them says a lot. As for the desserts our favorites were the churro and the cheesecake. The only regret we have is that we decided to share our desserts rather than getting our own. We won't make that mistake again! Went for a date night with my wife after making reservations, was our last date night before we welcomed our son into the world. We were seated quickly and the staff was very attentive and very helpful in helping us make choices and helping us decide what we wanted to drink. My wife got a mocktail and I decided to grab a glass of red wine to start off and we shared their market salad which had stone fruit, cheese and a delicious vinaigrette. For the entrée I picked the grilled prime rib and asked for medium rare, this thing was the perfect medium rare with the perfect amount of grilled lines and salt on top, and the sides went so well together with the prime rib. We decided to do dessert when I saw crème brulee was on the menu, anywhere I go in Fresno I try their crème brulee. It was a let down, it was never set and was watery, plus the top was slightly burnt, the flavor inside was great despite it not setting. The manager and our server apologized for the crème brulee and did not charge us for it, which we appreciated, (we get it sometimes things happen) but we were thankful they made it right for us! Definitely will try this place again once our lives calm down a bit and we need another date night! read more

I will say that the service is top notch. The staff is attentive and I really appreciated that. I started off with their Jamaica mocktail and it was tart and refreshing. We also shared their market salad which paired well with the stone fruit, cotija cheese and vinaigrette. For my entree I went with the Seared salmon. It's on a bed of pesto orzo with dill and cream. It's phenomenal! The flavors just pair so well together. For dessert we did go with the crème brûlée as my husband is on a mission to find the best one in town. However, the one that was brought out wasn't fully set, although the flavor was still good! However, our server was able to notice without us even saying anything and she offered to bring out a new dessert, but we were just full at that point. Came here on a Saturday night with a party of 5 for a celebration dinner via reservation (highly suggest reserving online!!) and the place was bustling! If you are looking for something different to try rather than the typical Mexican food this would be the place. The menu is small and changes every season. I had their peach margarita which is on its way out since summer is done. It was very refreshing. I chose their chicken mole as there wasn't really anything else that peaked my interest. I was hoping they had soup but I didn't see it offered. The chicken mole was good. The chicken itself was a little on the dry side but once you covered it in mole it did the trick. The service was good. The atmosphere started out quiet but as the evening wore on it was a little too loud and we couldn't hear our conversation. It's worth a try. read more

The area of improvement needs to be the service especially as the restaurant fills up and the server has multiple tables. Waiting at the end of the meal to request the check and the to go box should not happen. Get a floor manager that monitors all tables, assists when and where needed and keeps the flow going. For dessert we had the toffee brownie à la mode and it was a great end to a very nice dinner. While there we talked to another couple who visit this restaurant weekly and sit at the bar. The place was clean and the staff were very accommodating. Lot's of hard wall surfaces and not a huge seating area so I imagine it can be a little noisy but we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. As I said, we will go back and we have already decided on the next two dishes to try. The menu choices look great and so we thinking we could go back 5 or 6 times before we have to repeat an entree. They were also huge and could be a meal in itself. The star of the night was the burrata and chorizo. That was out of this world.
