I'm the only person in my family who cannot eat gluten & here I could safely taste their food. My husband and I both ordered fish and chips. The fish was crispy & hot and the fries were good too. My kid ordered poutine with brisket. The gravy was also gluten free. Everything was fantastic, great versions of these classic dishes. The service was great from start to finish. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arriving. When I mentioned how excited I was to see gluten free fish & chips, the server was proud to share that they have a dedicated frier for celiacs. When we were ready to go she had the plates cleared & a check instantly. It was a perfect lunch.

I had the butter chicken with added naan, as I strongly prefer not to eat burgers or red meat for health reasons. Sorry but I found my butter chicken a bit disappointing. - The chicken was a bit dry. I was choking at one point. - the naan seems to be store bought and microwaved. - the sauce was not bad, though nothing standing out. - they forgot to bring me steamed veggies. They did bring them eventually but it seemed like microwaved veggies. So in summary a bit disappointing. My friend who had bison said it was tough.

The Bankhead - Savour the smoky goodness of our $22 Beef Brisket Sandwich, topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions, and melted cheese!

Had a nice ambience with plenty of seating inside and outside. However we found it was a little chilly inside the restaurant, especially near the windows where we were seated. The staff was friendly, but we found that service was a little slow even though it was not busy at the time of our visit. We appreciated the variety of breakfast items. It was definitely catered to international visitors. However, the food itself tasted just average. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with avocado and tomato, pancakes, French toast, and the omurice. The eggs Benedict came out cold, the omurice needed some additional ingredients for flavoring, and the pancakes and French toast came out dry. They charged us extra for a little tablespoon of extra maple syrup. The only tasty item was the smashed potatoes. Overall, would not recommend this place. It didn't seem like the price matched the quality of the food or the service.

Bankhead Restaurant and…read moreLounge offers a versatile environment with its fusion cuisine, whether it be a romantic or family dinner. It's a great spot if you're looking for a mix of international and Western flavors. Reservations can be made directly from their homepage via TouchBistro. There are about 10 spots available in the private parking lot. While it was too cold to enjoy the patio during our visit, outdoor dining is available in warmer weather, and the mountain views from the restaurant are stunning. FOOD: 1. Firecracker Calamari (3/5) - Crispy calamari with sautéed peppers, soy, and sesame. Unfortunately, this appetizer had more side ingredients than actual calamari. It's shareable between 3-4 people, but I wouldn't order it again. 2. Canmore Pasta Bison Ravioli (3/5) - Served with a creamy au jus sauce, sautéed mushrooms, and parmesan. I didn't try this one personally, but those who did said it was just "OK." It comes with one slice of garlic toast. 3. Chicken Nirvana (4/5) - A coconut-based gravy with ginger, green chili, curry leaves, basmati rice, and Kerala parotta. The curry was a bit watery for my taste, and I wished the spices were more pronounced. That said, the parotta was nicely crisp -- always a win. 4. Alberta Beef Short Ribs (3/5) - Served with vegetables and gravy. I had a few bites and liked it, but something felt like it was missing -- I couldn't quite put my finger on what. 5. Atlantic Salmon (5/5) - Paired with a tarragon leek lemon emulsion and vegetables. I rarely order salmon at non-Japanese restaurants, but this was an exception. The salmon was perfectly cooked -- not dry at all -- and the emulsion brought everything together beautifully. The service was OK. The server was pleasant, and our drinks never touched the bottom. However, we had an early dinner time, and they were out of two items on the menu. Would I come back? Maybe. I'll explore other places before coming back.

He and the excellent Chicago hot wings make Fergus & Bix worth more than one late night Happy Hour visit. The wings are marinaded, fried, dipped then baked - perfect. I'm a little beer snobby, but my spouse says the in-house Wooden Ship beers are good. Great place to watch sports too. Lots of TVs but not too intrusive if you're not interested. Ambiance is warm and relaxed. Happy Hour offers some nice choices, and is twice per day every day as is the norm in this tourist town. Definitely recommended for folks who want a pleasant adult atmosphere. You also avoid excessively intoxicated and rowdy revellers. They're over at the corner of Rose & Crown and Drake.

Upon arrival, we were provided with a liquor menu but not a full food menu, and were directed to order from the happy hour menu. This created a bit of confusion at first, but we made the best of it. We ordered the Beer Board, which included a selection of sausages, Italian meats, cheeses, and pretzel bread. It was well put together, with good variety and satisfying portions--great for a late-night bite. Overall, while the experience wasn't exceptional, it was a decent stop considering the circumstances. It served its purpose and provided a solid option when not much else was available. That said, the bar itself is pretty decent. Carries some ambiance --perhaps a place you'd hang out for a few drinks.
