Veggie spring rolls and fried veggie dumplings

At the start of the year I always have dinner w/ my cousin and we pick a different spot each time. This time a friend joined us and I finally was able to try this spot. It's been in my bookmarks for a min. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute quaint spot w/ pretty good service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was happy w/ that and we didn't get to the food yet. On the table: Veggie dumplings & spring rolls Wei favorite chicken Shrimp fried rice Beef lo mein Sautéed string beans in garlic sauce Washed it all down w/ rose and orange wine. LOVED all of it. Except the shrimp fried rice, don't eat seafood. And the lo mein was a lil bland. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. It definitely would've been 5. I will def be back to try more of their menu.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Imagine an intimate ambiance light music in the background dim lighting and delicious food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A group of us stopped in and they were so accommodating. The staff Miho and Jeff were so warm and kind! Our meals came out almost immediately and the portions were perfect for sharing. Everything we had was flavorful and fresh! We will absolutely be back !

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Wei is an upgraded Americanized Chinese restaurant playing off the nostalgia of its millennial audience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mean when is the last time anyone saw mu shu vegetables on a menu? At the same time, the helpful translation of "small plates" into "xiaochi"tells you that the nostalgia is self-aware. I had the General Tso's tofu, because what else would I order at such an establishment. The sauce was excellent, although the tofu consisted of small chewy pieces. I'd venture that some larger chunks of tofu might better soak up all of the sauce. The traditional singular broccoli floret was a nice touch. Good vibes for a weeknight cocktail as well.

I love the ambiance in here! Such a cute little spot to pop into for either a light bite or a full dinner. They have all the traditional Chinese dishes that you love, and some really great starters too. My fave was the pork soup dumplings! We went in around dinner time on a Sunday night and were able to get a cozy booth right away. :)

My best friend and I decided to have a lil city date, so we found this restaurant on Yelp and it just spoke to us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is pretty tiny but the vibes are elite. We loved the decor and ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We decided to sit at the bar so we didn't have to wait too long for a table. We were seated pretty quick and basically asked the bar tender to tell us his favorites and that's what we ordered. The steamed bbq pork buns were good but definitely needed way more filling. The real show stoppers were the sautéed green beans with garlic and the spicy peanut wontons. I literally wanted to hop into the kitchen to see how they made it so I could remake it at home because it was just that delicious. The crispy duck was also super good and I loved that they gave tortillas with it to make lil burritos. Sitting at the bar and yapping we just kept seeing food other people ordered which just has me dying to go back and try other menu items.

Came to Wei per a friend's recommendation and I was certainly not disappointed. The best Chinese food I've had in a while! First of all, this place has an amazing ambiance. Cute decor and great playlist -- definitely a good spot for date night. Service was fab too. Super attentive with ensuring drinks were always filled, etc. For starters we ordered the egg drop soup and spicy peanut wontons. Both were incredible, but I'd say the spicy peanut wontons are definitely a must. The soup was way bigger than we were expecting! We got the sesame chicken and beef lo mein for our main entrees. I have to say this was maybe the best lo mein I've ever had. The beef was so juicy and added a really delicious flavor to the noodles. The sesame chicken was super crunchy with the right amount of sweetness. This will definitely be my new spot for Chinese delivery!

Great place to grab some affordable Chinese food with lots of vegetarian options! I would definitely recommend getting the garlic green beans (SOOOO GOOD) and the spicy peanut wontons. The wontons definitely are more peanut than chili oil so if you don't like peanut butter I wouldn't get this. The veggie dumplings were also really good but just normal steamed veggie dumplings. Ask for the chili oil on the side, it's worth it. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I will be back :)

My sisters and I went out to celebrate a birthday and we had a amazing time! The decor, lighting, and paintings were very nice! We ordered a few appetizers shrimp roll, spring roll, and vegetables dumplings fresh and delicious. Came here hoping to have some fresh seafood dish that's posted here on Yelp but I guess they don't really existed anymore? Had some cocktails with Baiju (Shanghai Cowboy) and Shao Xing (88) mix which were interesting. Soup Dumpling was pretty good meet the standard. Spicy Wonton meh was so so. came here with a few girlfriends for dinner on a friday night around 7 - got a table no problem without a reservation. ordered as a group, everything from egg drop soup to glass noodles to a few different dumplings. the cocktails are delicious. bird of paradise was so perfectly sweet and tart with a smoky flavor. Got the Pork Soup Dumplings, Veggie Dumplings, Steam BBQ Pork Buns, Spicy Peanut Wonton, and Scallion Pancake. Could go without veggie dumplings and BBQ Pork Buns, but the rest are a must. This most recent time i ordered the fried rice and Wei special chicken and as I was eating found a piece of metal in my food. :( looks like it was a piece is steel wool. After reading the majority of the reviews, we were certain that the sub par reviews were nothing to pay much attention to. It seemed most customers adored this restaurant. So initially with high hopes of a quality Chinese meal, we were greeted with a jaded welcome and a stoic server. Nothing much to bat an eye at but not a great way to enter the restaurant. Just order some food for delivery and wow what a huge disappointment. I ordered the haipai spicy noodle , chose a specific noodle and still got spaghetti. And MUSHY spaghetti at that! It was a little spicy but still lacked flavor. It just looks like onion broth with a hint of red pepper. I also ordered scallion pancakes..... How do you mess that up? Ah but they did , mushy/spongy nothing pan fried about it. That also tastes just ok. The only good thing is that I got my food piping hot. Other than that. straight trash! Never again. My fav is the chicken wings but you have to tell them that you want it spicy with the onions and peppers !! It's Crispy and the seasonings are fire. I also put the seasonings over my fried rice and it WAS BOMB... the dumplings are good, the cocktails are great ! The restaurant itself has a cute chill vibe !! I would def come back here for sure !! I don't like writing bad reviews but to spend $18 on inedible sesame chicken and $8 on 2 empty pork buns(see photo) I had to say something. I figured by the reviews and prices($18 for standard sesame chicken?) that this was an upscale chinese restaurant. But not even the most shoddy hole in the wall chinese places have food you literally cannot eat. After trying a few pieces of sesame chicken that wouldn't break down after chewing it 30 times I called it quits and threw the dish out. The pork buns might have been good if they had pork. Next time I'll just hit my local and get $8 sesame chicken that doesn't taste like rubberbands. read more

My friend and I went to Wei restaurant because it had great reviews. I was hesitant to order, but my friend ordered some chicken and she let me try it. It was so good that I ordered my own to go. When I got home the chicken I had, tasted NOTHING like what my friend had. There was no sweet sauce and they gave me some nasty burnt peppers with my meal. My friend got a really nice salad with hers that had red cabbage in it. I was so disappointed and so mad. I will not be going back there. read more

Ambiance and vibes were on 10! my friends and i stumbled upon wei on an offchance for finding late night eats and we were not disappointed. their kitchen closes at 1:45am allowing us more than enough time to eat to our hearts content! the hei pei chicken was delicious and has left me wondering when ill make my way back again! read more

We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing.It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh.That was much appreciated. A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I hope this feedback encourages your management team to consider a more accommodating approach when serving members of the disability community in the future.

The restaurant itself has a romantic vibe and is very clean. This is probably the best Chinese food I've had in years! It was full on a Tuesday evening, so reservations are a must. Service was friendly and very good. Great cocktail and drinks menu. The food was outstanding. We had Dan Dan Chicken (5/10), 1000 year egg (10/10) - a must! Scallion pancakes (6/10). For entree: Mushroom Fried Rice (7/10), Pork Belly (10/10) and Spicy Fried Fish (with spiciness reduced to medium on my request) (10/10). I would highly recommend and we will be back.

So blessed to have a friend in Williamsburg. When visiting we stay at his place for a few of the…read morenights and there's something about Williamsburg that makes us stay when we have plans elsewhere. We wanted to go to a dumpling place in Chinatown, but we're running late and decided to cancel. This place looked good while we were walking around...and I'm so glad we were late because it was absolutely excellent We ordered: Crab soup buns: 7/10 standard Spicy cumin lamb: 100/10 may have been the best I ever had in my life????!! Curiously tasty chicken: 9/10 we didn't realize this was also cumin. It was super tender and juicy, but the flavor was too similar to the cumin lamb. So if you're choosing between both, go for the lamb As a table of 2 this was way more than enough food with leftovers. Perfect place to get shareable with friends for a quick bite without any reservations even on a weekend, with the flexibility of a communal table too.
