    Shoyu Ramen

The staff was pleasant and the restaurant was clean with a very nice chill vibe. The food was alright. I felt like the tonktasu and shoyu broths were pretty thin compared to great ramen places I've had in the past like ramen Tatsuya. The meat I had was pretty chewy too. Overall I do agree that this didn't feel super authentic as a previous reviewer had stated. I do wish them well, very nice people.

I really enjoy the Spicy Ramen here. It's not too spicy for me personally, more of a medium heat, but still good. The portion size is also solid. I've had it both dining in and as takeout, and it's been great each time.

Enjoyed a pleasant lunch here. The Tonkatsu ramen was quite tasty and the service was quick and efficient. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. If you're looking for a tasty and quick meal, this is a great option.

Tried something new for lunch and wasn't too impressed. It could be that it was my first time having ramen and wasn't for sure what to order. If my decision to go back was based off my meal today, I wouldn't. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't good. I ordered the Veggie Ramen but it was spicy. The spice was there but wasn't flavorful. The service wasn't bad, very attentive. Not sure if I will try this place again.

Stopped in while taking a walk during lunch. I settled on the pork bun and the shrimp appetizer. The ambiance is bright and welcoming and service is quick. Definitely will be back again to try some thing else from the menu. There are two restaurants in one as they also have one that serves mocha donuts and boba tea.

We were on a tight time frame and the staff here were so helpful! They got us seated right away and the food came out so fast. I got the tonkotsu ramen and it was delicious. I only wish it came with more than half an egg!

I stopped by Wei Ramen for a quick lunch and was so glad I did! I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Udon to go, and it was ready in under 10 minutes--super fast and convenient. But once I saw how warm and cozy the space was, I decided to dine in instead. The udon was incredible--comforting, flavorful, and the shrimp tempura was perfectly crisp. It hit the spot! Great food, great atmosphere--I'll definitely be back.

Wei ramen is a cute low key place to grab lunch or dinner. It has a very simplistic calming vibe. The service was excellent. I am a gluten free foodie so I have to ask several questions before I can place an order. Our waitress was patient and resourceful in helping me find safe food options.

Wei Ramen is my first meal here in Indianapolis, and it set a good tone for the trip! I'm a big ramen fan, so it was exciting to see some new varieties of ramen that I haven't tried before. We got the gyoza, the shumai, the Karai Ramen, and the Curry Chicken Katsu. Everything was very good! The gyoza and shumai both featured crunchy shells and soft steaming interiors. The Karai Ramen was very mild, with silky smooth broth and a lovely umami. I expected the kimchi to pack more of a punch, but even though it wasn't as spicy or acidic as I expected, the kimchi still delivered nicely contrasting bites to the more earthy egg, mushroom, and bamboo. The chicken katsu curry was a generous piece of fried chicken, and came with a large portion of rice. The service felt a little harried, but the food came out REALLY fast!

Have to say I liked this ramen spot in Indianapolis. I have loads of ramen in my life and sometimes I feel you got to know the do's and don'ts when ordering. The takoyaki was absolutely delish. Gooey just like it's supposed to be. Could have used a little more bonito shavings but I'm just knit picking. My ramen also was delicious. I poured the hot sesame oil they have in it so that for sure added. Service was great so all thumbs up for me!

The chicken soup... er, ramen, for the grad student's soul. Packed with delicious veggies and protein, the ramen bowls at Wei Ramen are more than enough to satisfy the appetite. The space of the restaurant is fairly intimate and has a cozy feel with the hanging of various tapestries. The food comes out quickly from the Wei Ramen kitchen, and also includes the mochi donut counter at the front of the shop. The only disclaimer I'd give is that the ramen restaurant host stand is past the mochi donut counter, which could be improved with some better signage (though maybe I missed it).

Food: very satisfying! I will say you just have to know what you like! Food selection and personal preference plays a huge part imo. There's a good variety of types of the dining menu experience to venture into. I started with the appetizer of "Tempura Shumai" (shrimp tempura) and now I get it every time I go. Perfect amount of shrimp meat and that fried crunch that pairs nicely with the spicy sesame sauce! It's a very yummy start and a good choice if you have a filling snack like level of hunger. I tried a few entrees here. I chose more of a rice than ramen entree to start, as I was terrible at matching a menu item to what I'll like texture wise in my noodles. But the next time I went I tried The udon noodles and although they weren't my speed texture wise, the BROTH?! The main boo thing. Flavor is very good. The "Curry Udon w. Karrage chicken" rice was pleasant, I would just request more curry sauce next time! As it was a good source of flavor for the rice alongside the fried chicken and it's own sauce. I'm a lover of cute bottles and love a flavored SAKE, The peach sake is my favorite. It is served with a small cup and lasts more than you think. I got about 8-10 shots out this bad boy!! Ambiance: A minimalistic Japanese style environment with cute decor and wooden booth styled seating. They have TVs that display anime for the anime lovers out here like me. It's perfect to dine in to get some work done. Please note: This place is paired with 2 other businesses inside (Mochi MUNCHI donuts in the front when you walk in & Good vibes cafe upstairs) you order separately from each establishment. Service: Very quick and efficient! You can get in and out or dine with a good balance of being left to dine and get service. The servers are pretty straight forward and accommodating to personal preference and recommendation based on that! Definitely a good chill place with more food options I'd love to try!

The drinks, the ramen, the dessert...we love it all, and we love spending our money at a local business. For years now, the kitchen has substituted rice for ramen for me because I have gluten intolerance. I have always asked respectfully, explained why, and said thank you, every single time. Tonight my husband and I walked down to Strangebird for dinner, ordered drinks and dinner, and I had *just* said to my husband that Strangebird has come to feel like a second home. Then the server came out and told us that the chef has decided they will no longer permit any modifications, including those that meet dietary needs. We were out on the quiet patio surrounded by other customers, so on top of being totally blindsided, it was actually pretty embarrassing, too. Folks, let me tell you how much I wish I could just eat the ramen noodles like everybody else. So much food that I love (and in some cases spent years learning to make myself) went out the window forever when my body stopped being able to handle wheat. But at Strangebird, I could still go in and enjoy the depth of flavor in every other component of a bowl of ramen. And that meant the absolute world to me. I'm heartbroken.

The interior was a vibe with dim lighting that made the rainy meal experience even cozier. Ordering is easy either through the staff or a self ordering kiosk. I liked the addition of corn to finish up the soup at the end. If I'm in the area again I will be stopping for bubble tea as the menu looked great!

But the vibe was nice and calming, the menu was extensive (ramen and boba options for days), and I landed on the spicy miso ramen--exactly what I needed to warm me up. Nailed it. The broth was rich, savory, and comforting with just the right amount of heat. Every ingredient tasted vibrant and fresh. The green onions, tender pork, and perfectly marinated soft-boiled egg were the ideal companions swimming in that spicy miso goodness. On a gray, cold Indianapolis day, this bowl absolutely hit the spot. Can't wait to come back and try the boba.
