By far my favorite market to shop at. Everyone that works here is magnificent at customer service. I've never had a bad experience or gotten the "Walmart" vibe I get at giant (nothing wrong with Walmart but it's not exactly known for its customer experience). Two things keep them from getting five stars for me: 1. The variety is inconsistent from item to item. For example, their selection of coffee brands is poor. Also the commercial bread selection is poor too. On the other hand their deli and fresh bakery products are on point. 2. Although pricing is very competitive (and in some cases unbeatable), a lot of items are VERY expensive. It's not as bad as Whole Foods or balducci's (and not as snobby either) but the are definitely some items that you should look elsewhere for (ie fresh seafood). read more

I have thought I have been to all types of grocery stores. I was wrong! I have never seen a place like this. Wegmans is amazing. It has everything for everybody. My friends took me here to blow my mind and they succeeded. The staff was helpful in my search of items. The prices are a little up there but for the variety and quality, it is worth it for me. The baked goods are fresh and yummy. I traveled here for 2 days but now find myself planning to come here again when I come back to visit friends. The store is clean and yes, so are the bathrooms! I love their café area and the patio, there is always a nice place to sit and relax. They're prices are reasonable for the most part. One of the items that is pretty expensive is water. Why? No idea. Some of their items in the organic section have much more reasonable pricing compared to Whole Foods and some additional grocers in the area. I like how the naturals section is in one place and not scattered, especially in a HUGE store. Their produce section is large and you can find a good assortment of things including interesting mushrooms along the wall case. Their bakery section is Whole Foods type pricing but definitely not the same quality. Same goes for the food bar, at almost $10/ lb.! The meat section has never intrigued me. I find it overpriced and unappetizing. I come here at least twice a week. Selection is huge! Good variety of organic, gluten free, non-organic foods. Can pretty much cater to any dietary lifestyles. Gets super crowded during the weekend, but nothing out of the norm for a grocery store. Plenty of check out lanes which is important for me- previous grocery store never seemed to have enough open lanes which made my grocery shopping experience extremely frustrating. Not a reliable source for household groceries and health items during the COVID 19 period. I received half of the items I'd ordered 6 business days earlier, the non-perishables were not even in my order because Wegmans does not work on Instacart orders on a rolling basis as they come in. They fill orders only at the time the shopper enters the store! So in my case, 9pm on Sat night. They did nothing to make it right and now my family does not have food and health items that we waited a week to receive. read more

I usually order pizzas here but today one of the staffs were very unfriendly and unhelpful, ruining my shopping experience. I was in Wegmans doing my normal once a month shopping and when I went to check out there was a lady with her 2 kids wear no mask and I asked the cashier to have someone tell her to put on a mask they tried and then also calling for the main manager and all he told the young lady who called him was to deal with it herself. Wow I told her if it was me working here I would not ring her out until she wears it. It's not far that everyone else has to but she has the privilege to bypass this rule and there was clear signs all over the store and announcements all over the story saying please wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart she; she started unloading herself on to that bell and I told her once could you wait until I'm done she said she doesn't have to and at that point that's when the manager really should have stepped in because if I get sick because they don't want to follow the rules/enforce the masks wearing then I will personally see if I can well fill suit with Wegmans for their neglect. They really need to do better about protecting their employees and the people who shop with them if not they may as well close until this whole thing is over. read more

I just love this place. From the ambiance, smells, the people & the overall quality of the experience here just keeps me coming back for more. I'm actually not in the kosher isle now galavanting as if I don't need to go home anytime soon and walk my chihuahua. Anyway always had a really positive shopping experience here. Wegmans is a good supermarket. They have good prices. They have a variety of products, and they keep everything well-stocked, even if the "fresh" food is not out on the displays. I previously worked for Wegmans in the bakery. If you purchase bread from the bakery, I recommend purchasing only the made-in-house bread, which includes the cheese bread, jalapeno cheese bread, signature Italian, and Marco Polo bread. All other breads were not baked in the store, but rather, they were prepared in a facility in Rochester, NY and then frozen and shipped to this store, where they are kept in the back in a large room of cardboard boxes. Then each morning, the bread is reheated in the oven so that it comes out warm; however, that doesn't make the bread freshly baked. If you want to buy a cake, kindly ask for the fresh cakes that are hidden in the refrigerator in the back. The cakes that are on display are older and less fresh. Same goes for the bread. Kindly ask for the breads, such as challah, cinnamon raisin, marathon, multigrain, etc. that were prepared the same day. As for the food court area, virtually of all that food has been previously frozen as well. Most of it is not fresh, and most of it does not taste very good, even though all of that food looks amazing. A lot of the fruit in the salad bar has been cut and prepared a few days in advance, so you know that it will not taste as good as that of the fruit in the produce section. The donuts are extremely good though. So are the cookies! I recommend getting the cookies with the most amount of frosting on it. Now that it's the holiday season, you can get fat as shit and your boyfriend will never know. If you get to the store at 6AM, the rolls will come right out of the oven, and they will be very hot. Eat enough of those biscuits and you'll be a biscuit under 300 pounds. There is no bread in the bakery that is gluten-free, but there is a section of the store dedicated to gluten-free people. There is also a large selection of VEGAN foods. They have in stock the So Delicious almond milk and coconut ice creams, Daiya cheese, Amy's vegan pizza, and my personal favorite, Tofutti cutie ice cream sandwiches. The produce section is huge. Right now the apples are cheap (88 cents per pound). During the summer, they offer 2 pounds of strawberries for 4 dollars. I like the celery here. It is always erect. Take advantage of the free samples. There is no particular day or time that is more likely to have free samples, but typically during the daytime hours you are more likely to find free samples. If you go to the coffee shop, be sure to order the pineapple banana smoothie. It will elevate you. *Alert* Don't try the pizza at the pizza shop. It tastes awful. I came here on Boxing Day around 11:30, looking for a quick lunch from the prepared foods section since I'd run out of food at my house. The store was pretty empty at the time, but I imagine it wouldn't be hard to find parking even when it's busy, as there is a parking garage and many, many outside parking spaces. The store was clean and set up nicely. There was a good selection of soups (including chicken noodle, lobster bisque, and tomato). The bakery also had basically all the types of bread I would want from a grocery store, including pretzel rolls, baguettes, and ciabatta rolls; I found the selection to be comparable to that of Whole Foods. There were even organic blueberries, although they were not very flavorful since they were probably out-of-season at the time; I was however glad to see them, as there were even a few weeks during the summer where Whole Foods didn't even have organic blueberries. The only thing that I found slightly lacking was the pâtisserie selection; I think it's fine if you're looking for cupcakes or fruit tarts or cookies, but I guess I'm used to seeing Whole Foods' dizzying array of more "European" desserts (macarons, éclairs, mille-feuilles, etc.) and I would likely venture there if I wanted more dessert options. (However, it's possible the selection was smaller the day I went because it was right after Christmas.) I self checked-out; the staff were really quick and friendly when I needed help with my check-out machine. Overall I had a great experience here and would definitely come back. read more

The line of automobiles from the parking lot to the traffic light has dissipated. The MoCo Police force is off doing police(wo)men work. The fire department has dispatched its firefighters to real emergencies. As the novelty of Germantown having its very own Wegmans has started to fade. Now, the crowds have been reduced to the diehard Wegman shoppers that enjoy everything that is...Wegmans!! I have found Wegmans to be my go to super grocery store for certain items. Depending on the time of day, the crowds at this Wegman can still get fairly large. The morning time is the best time to shop as the crowds can be rather large midday and during the evening. The Germantown Wegmans has an incredible lunch and dinner buffet. Whether you have a hankering for Italian, Japanese, India, Chinese, Spanish or American food you will find it on this buffet. Unfortunately, sushi is available but not a buffet item. In addition, if you have food allergies I do not believe the ingredients listed for certain buffet items are comprehensive! This Wegmans has a selection of some incredible baked goods. I believe they prepare just about everything onsite. If you are concern with calories many of these items lists the calorie count. The seafood selection is quite extensive and the prices are not bad. The prices seem higher than a traditional grocery store but less than Whole Foods. The store offers all sorts of specialty items some of which you can find at a traditional grocery store for less, but the selection at Wegmans is much more extensive. I did expect more in the area of customer service from a store like Wegmans. There never seems to be anyone working the aisles to point you in the right direction or answer questions. Lastly, there never seems to be enough cashiers working especially during lunchtime. However, this Wegmans does provide people an alternative to tradition grocery stores and it has significantly improved the shopping experience in the area. read more

Have you ever wondered how Simba felt when Rasiki lifted him in the air atop Pride Rock? I imagine it's something like how one feels coming in from the second floor of the parking lot, peering over the railing to the vast abyss that is Wegmans (Scar and hyenas are hiding over by Walmart). Don't you think it's so sexy, market so fresh so clean (so fresh and so clean clean). Wegmans and Whole Foods are the only places the store brand that have been proven worthy. For example, Wegmans's own frosted wheats vs. Kellogg's mini wheats-- similar if not better (less sweet and more crunchy) which is great in my book! Did you know milk first then cereal is the way to go? You might be a communist sympathizer otherwise. Their made-in-store pico de gallo is tasty- right amount of kick in both the spicy and tangy department. They have regular people size and human sphere/family size bags of tortilla chips for you to share with "friends"/devour this all on your own. Also available in the produce section is truffle that's $1000/lb! Why aren't there more rap songs about this baller gourmet fungus? Wegmans is a good alternative to Costco. They offer some items in bulk without having to pay an annual membership and you don't have to worry about the madness that is the parking situation over at Gaithersburg Costco. This is a great grocery store to find high quality products at an increased price. They have a lot of really nice items here, just not as big of a variety as larger, less expensive stores. Ive been here many times and have not seen an increase in their inventory. We all have certain items that we have come to love over the years. So, I would not recommend Wegman's as a great place to find everything that you need. However, they are almost never crowded and everything that I have purchased from them has been been descent quality, and lets be honest, the Walmart Super Center nearby is one of the worst places in this area to do anything, its just psychologically draining being in that dirty heck-hole. So Wegman's is absolutely a breath of fresh air the first time you casually saunter through its wide, clean aisles and gaze upon all their fresh food. Still, its a little annoying when they never have normal cheddar cheese slices, Hawaiian bread, large sized creamer, grape water flavoring, or any of the most popular soup flavors, just to name a few things that have disappointed me on my visits. This doesn't appear to be a temporary logistical issue either, but simply their permanent inventory. This forces me to suspect that they are buying wholesale and up-charging based on their perceived appearance of quality. There's way more variety at Target and its actually equivalent in quality. Wegman's is probably best used as a place to buy ready made gourmet meals to cook at home if you dont mind still paying restaurant prices. I have yet to try any of these pre-made dinners because I alway choose to spend the same amount and let someone else cook it for me. Be careful shoppers. Read the display labels carefully. Wegmans will trick you. I saw a yellow label for a gallon of milk for $1.69 and grabbed the milk right above the yellow tag. It turned out that they put Wegmans Organic milk right above the yellow labels. Organic milk was $5.49. They tricked me to thinking I was buying it for $1.69. I brought this matter to the teenage looking supervisor and he was not that pleasant. He blamed me for not reading carefully and refused to accept that did anything wrong. I didn't think it was possible to fall in love with a grocery store...and then I walked into Wegmans. I've never been to any Wegmans before and with all the hype that surrounded this one, I was sure I was being set up to be disappointed. Just as I figured, it was PACKED when I got there on Sunday morning. Despite the crowds, the employees were friendly and helpful and checkout was a breeze. Even the other customers who were milling around seemed courteous, albeit quite a bit frazzled. The store is very large. The seafood and meat departments were by far the most chaotic part of the store. The aisle isn't very wide and everyone seemed to be going in the wrong direction, no matter which direction I was travelling. Overall the layout of the store is kind of strange and will definitely take some getting used to. They have a HUGE organic department. I don't buy a whole lot of organic food, but if I did, it looks like this place carries just about anything you could be looking for. The produce department was full of fresh fruits and veggies. In fact, the whole store was fully stocked. I couldn't find an empty display anywhere I looked. The prices are way less expensive than Giant. I was pretty surprised by some of it. The price for a gallon of milk here is the same as 1/2 a gallon at Giant. The regular price for individually packaged chicken is $1.99--nearly 2 dollars cheaper than Giant. There were a handful of other items that I saw in the store as well and it's safe to say it's considerably less expensive. I also think it's safe to say that I'm a convert and plan to switch completely over to Wegmans for my weekly grocery shopping trip. read more

There's a lot to love about the newest Wegmans-- (mostly that it's in Maryland) and they mail us coupons all the time. It was kind of a s---show the first day as you can imagine; parking was insane and the store was so crowded it was just insanely overwhelming. Upon return visits with less crazy parking situations, one could properly appreciate all of the wonderful things offered by Wegmans. I need to highlight first and foremost their cheese department. Oh my gosh. They are the first store around I've ever seen carry my favorite cheese evarrr- boschetto al tartufo. The Wegmans branded cheeses are also decent too; I've recently come to love their triple creme brie. The other depts - produce, meats, fish, bakery are also on top of their game. And I love the prepacked 1/2lb. deli cuts ready to go so you don't have to wait. A nice touch. Their weigh-your-own candy/trail-mix/nuts/grains station is also great - especially when you only want a little of something -- came in handy for assembling our accouterments (almonds, cranberries, etc.) to our cheese board during the holidays. The only thing they're missing is a beer/wine section. But this is completely forgivable since they excel at everything else. Stay awesome, Wegmans. read more

Wegmans is easily the best grocery store I have ever been to (suck it Whole Foods). They are absolutely giant and have everything you could ever want plus lots of free samples. I am assuming you have heard of Wegmans before, so here are a few tips from my experiences getting lunch here: -$5 rotisserie chickens are an amazing deal. -No beer. -Beware of the hot bar, $9/pound adds up really fast. -There is a stand which has an employee making something different every day. Some times it is very good. -There are prepackaged salads and pastas that are the exact same stuff in the hot bar but cheaper. -Pizza here isn't spectacular, but it is good and two slices and a drink are around $6. read more

I love this store! So happy one made it to Montgomery County! The selection here is amazing. Many vegetarian options, wide range of organic meats, great choice of cheeses, and the produce dept.... wow. I love that I can come here and buy my wild caught fish in the same place that I can get my everyday products for prices that compare to the bulk purchase "clubs". I do the majority of my shopping in the produce department. This store has a great selection of fruit, vegetables, and herbs. It is well maintained and always find what I am looking for and find it fresh! The service here is perfect. Everyone I have come in contact with (and for some reason I always seem to have a special request) has been so helpful. I love the personal service. Stop by the hot bar, sushi bar, prepared food, cafe, or bakery while your here (yes, this place has everything!). These departments really make this grocery store stand out. I think there are 2 camps when it comes to Wegman's - those who LOVE it and shop there exclusively, and those who don't see the big deal. I fall more into the latter category. Why? Because my shopping is done around the sale flier usually, and Wegman's prices on national brands are just too high. They do have some good deals on Wegman's brands like cereal for $1.50/box and milk for $1.69/gallon. They also sell packs of 3 dozen eggs for crazy cheap. Sometimes chicken is .99/lb so that's a good deal too. The gourmet part of the store is just not for us on a normal shopping week - with a family of 9 and one income food is not where we splurge regularly. Not to say the occasional wedge of fancy Brie doesn't appear in the fridge - we do appreciate delicious things - but it's not the norm. So I will swing by if I'm in the area and grab the above mentioned deals, but my normal shopping trip includes whatever is on sale at our local Safeway :) read more

As for the self checkout the people they put to lord over you never trust you have paid. After self.cjeckkng out 3 times I caught 2 separate people searching the log to make sure I was not lying. The best grocery store I have ever been to for sure. Now that there is one close to my house I am beyond happy. I'm so glad they are expanding. This place has almost any kind of food you could ever want and everything is so fresh. My favorite parts of this store are the meat, fish and cheese sections, as well as the hot buffet. All the different kinds of food on the buffet are made by specialists it seems like. I've had better Indian food, sushi and Chinese food here than some places I get takeout from. Being a fan of Wegman's- Chantilly.....I decided to wait a few days before venturing to this new one. Not bad....only a few minutes up I-270, exit at the Germantown road exit, and then left on Observation Drive.....voila..... You can tell that it's obviously still got that new thing going as there are cops telling where to go in the parking lot. The setup is a little peculiar, but undoubtedly, it was set up for the safety of pedestrians. As soon as you walk in, you are hit with the larger-than-life "eatery" section of the store. The actual grocery part is almost an afterthought! It is only slightly smaller than the Wal-Mart down the street in sq footage.....! Lots and LOTS of EVERYTHING to eat! More SEATING than in most restaurants!... I believe Wegman's is still family-owned.....hence no corporate bean-counters (gotta HATE them) telling management what to do and not to do.... Being the first week of operation, I could tell that some of the employees were already appearing worn out...... I would imagine that will be remedied as time goes on... The regular prices are very competitive to Safeway and Giant... I think Wegman's is actually cheaper..... Not sure if they're union here? Imagine if they opened one of these in the lower part of Rockville/Bethesda? It would almost become a "date place"! LOL Run, don't walk to check this place out....... read more

Great place for high quality perishables at premium prices. They seem to target clients who don't want to peel/slice/chop/cook as there are lots of throw in the oven/microwave/ wok products. Comparison shopping within the store is hard because similar items at different price points are in different sections of the store and they anticipate the clock-wise-about-the-store shopper! I have a love/hate relationship with this store. I generally feel the staff are friendly and competent, as long as you're not waiting at the Deli counter. Repeated bad experiences in the deli. The reason for my terrible one star review (today) is that on three consecutive days this week, the produce department has the stock of a 1970's Soviet market (May 8th, 9th, 10th 2018). Poor inventory, poor selection, poor quality. How much poorer can you get? None more poorer. I walked in yesterday to get a few things that I couldn't get on the previous two days because they were either out of stock or of crappy quality, and ended up walking out without buying anything. For a grocery store that is typically a "destination", having a craptacular inventory of produce staples on 3 consecutive days is either a gross aberration or an extreme case of inventory and logistical mismanagement. I love the selection of cheeses, meats, fresh (and frozen) seafood, dairy, etc. Their own "brand" merchandise is typically identical to familiar brands and is of excellent quality and good value. read more

This location has two levels with several hot food options and plenty of seating making it perfect for lunch. I needed to pick up a standard tolietry item, which I found with ease. I found a check-out line without any wait and was in and out of the grocery section very quickly. Now I was off to order lunch, I had my mind set on visting the Burger Bar. To my dismay this location does not have a Burger Bar. No worries there were multiple options available. I decided on the Sub station and attempted to order a bun-less burger. The person behind the counter appeared perplexed by my order. I tried to help her and suggest putting it in a box or wrapping in lettuce. She walked away and came back still a little confused. At this point I decided to go elswhere since this wasn't working out well. As I walked away she held up a paper bag and said, "I can put it in this" :( read more

Rude employee. I would like to start of by saying that I love Wegmans; always have always will. However, yesterday on December 15 around 2:30pm I went to the check out with my mom and we had such a rude cashier. She didn't greet us and threw our food in the bagging area after scanning. I was baffled that an employee would toss groceries! I have never seen that. I too am a cashier (at a restaurant) and I would never act like this towards a customer. She was extremely rude to my mother, she seemed like she had an attitude towards us. My mom didn't put her card in all the way and instead of politely asking to re-enter her card in the machine she simply said "Didn't go through" and shrugged, seemed to have maybe laughed (?) and sounded so so rude. I didn't get this women's name but she was wearing a hijab and working in check out seven. And I know she can be nice because as soon as we started walking away she was talkative with the lady behind us. I was wondering if maybe she hated us because of our race or what but I am extremely disappointed in this women's behavior and attitude towards my mother. . I visited this location for the first time yesterday and it was such an amazing experience. The facility was clean the employees were so well mannered while stoking the shelves. Willing to answer questions and also giving the customer the right of way to shop. The warmest part of my experience was while checking out I was speaking with the cashier Lynn Pham and some how we started to talk about Kombucha, and I was telling her how I didn't like the sparkling version. Lynn was so kind by leaving the register and walking over with me to one that wasn't sparkling because her caring and going out of her way I purchased the beverage. I love this place. Peaceful, well organized. Great to take my kids to grab a quick meal and sit in the kids area.
