After shopping for two hours with two grocery carts full of items, your manager or supervisor was asked by my cashier to call for a helping hand. Five minutes later I was still waiting while employees walked around with nothing to do. Then, when I informed him that he had failed, and said I will walk out the carts myself, he still made no effort to help. F- Meanwhile, Will in the meat department was very helpful and courteous and the young woman at the register (name?) was very kind as well. Please re-train your staff for customer service. I came in there this morning to pick up my twin boys' birthday cakes. I ordered them over a week ago for their 10th birthday party the morning of pickup on Saturday, October 19th (this morning). I had my sons with me when I picked up the cakes and learned that the store made a big mistake in my order. The "identical" sized cakes I ordered for my identical twins' 10th birthday party, were 2 very different sizes. Obviously, this is a big deal for identical twins when one has a bigger cake than the other, especially for such a milestone birthday. The bakery manager, Lori Edelman (I think is her new last name?), said that they could make me another one. Before I could remind her that the party was less than an hour from that time, so that of course wouldn't work, my 10 year old son, who has Autism, said to her (very calmly), "But the party is this morning." Lori replied to him, "I understand, but that's no reason to be rude." That was the first strike against Lori. Not only is that extremely unprofessional, but my son wasn't even actually being rude. When I pointed this out to her, she said, "I don't like your tone." (to me). Strike number two against Lori. I was incredulous that she said that to me, as that is obviously not only poor customer service, but obviously I would at least have a "tone" after she just accused my son of being rude. I asked her if she even had any children and she actually said (please don't miss this part), "Yes, I have three and they don't act like that! (pointing to my 10 year old Autistic son)".....I explained to her that firstly, there's nothing wrong with the way my son "acted" and second, he has special needs and is on the Autism spectrum so for her to say something that incredibly insensitive is completely unacceptable. I then asked for her manager and a nice man named "Tom" came over and apologized profusely for what happened after I relayed it to him. Tom saved the day, but Lori should not be employed by a company that professes to have such fantastic customer service and claims to be accommodating to people "of all abilities" on their website. I am shocked and appalled by her conduct after already making such an enormous mistake in the order in the first place. read more

Got to give kudos where it is deserved and Wegman, hands-down, is handling the COVID-19 outbreak outstandingly. They are controlling the number of people going into the store; they are wiping down the carts in the store to sanitize; they offer hand sanitizers as well as wipes so that you can clean your hands and your own cart as you go around the store; they are wiping down the check-out belt EVERY TIME after checking out an order; they have shields for their staff; and they have extra security at the front in case anyone gets out of hand. They are clearly making every effort to protect both their staff and the general public. Bravo! Of course, availability of goods are hit and miss but that's to be expected and they really can't be faulted for that. read more

Everyone always says that Wegmans is an amazing grocery store and shopping experience. I can tell you my favorite part...it's the cafeteria style dining area. They have every type of food and it's always hot and ready to eat, yum! You can get anything from Chinese style food to chicken wings to vegetarian options. You pay by the weight and then you can dine in or take it to go. As for the store itself, it can be quite overwhelming so I try to go when I have very specific things to purchase or when I have a lot of time to peruse the aisles. They not only have more food than you can imagine but they also sell things that you can find at Target or Bed Bath Beyond but at more reasonable prices so check those out. One thing I will tell you is that every time I have purchased fresh produce from Wegmans, I have had to eat it immediately! The produce doesn't last as long as I would like. But what does last lot longer? The cheese!!! They have so many different types and it is really affordable! Oh and they usually have samples out so you can try new things!! Yum! I used to love this store but it's becoming increasingly difficult to continue to patronize it. Went to pick up a few things yesterday evening. No regular size tomatoes. There were 3 small broccoli crowns left.. picked up 2 (cut it tonight and was full of bad spots - tossed it), Butter was almost sold out. I wanted a french baguette, nope none. What is with this store? I do like that many staple items are less expensive than Giant or Safeway but other items are more. What appears to be the nicest grocery store in the area is actually the worst!!! 1.... Every other grocery store in the area has self check out. Where Wegmens falls terribly short is that their self checkouts don't except cash like every other self checkout in town. I'd be curious to know why that is? Cuz, I'd bet it's a pretty STUPID reason. 2.... I notice that Wegmens, like every other grocery store in the area has a couple of checkouts that can be "15 items or fewer" lanes. I've noticed time and time again that none of these lanes are EVER open. And, I also notice that not only myself, but over half of the other people standing in line have very few items. So, since I can't use self checkout, because I'm a cash paying customer, I now have to wait in line behind someone who has a cart and a half full of groceries. So, essentially I'm trying to be in and out in 10 mins, but have to wait in line for an extra 20 mins just to buy a few items. A word of advice.... DO BETTER!!! read more

We went to the store yesterday and purchased a value package of chicken. The package said I was getting 5 lbs of chicken. When I got home I only had 4.250 of chicken. The styrofoam container and the "diaper" weighed 1 pound. I have pictures to prove it. Word of advice, go to your local butcher or to the counter and have them weigh it in front of you. read more

Love this grocery store! Wish we had something similar to it in Seattle. Wegmans feels like an in-between of QFC and Whole Foods with decent prices for the quality of organic produce and good groceries. I love that they have fresh hot foods and a salad bar as well as a full bakery with delicious and gorgeous pastries. The place is huge so if you're into grocery shopping, plan to spend extra time here browsing or waiting in line to check out. The store is clean and service is super helpful. My favorite section is the seafood because they have a variety of seafood - king crab, blue crab, lobster, shrimp, etc. It all depends on when you go! Curbside pickup is not always curbside. I have a pre-existing condition and really cannot take the risk of going into a grocery store during COVID, which is why I use curbside pickup. Prices for curbside pickup are noticeably higher, and that's fine because I know I am paying for a service. But twice now, I've gone to pickup my groceries and I've received a message saying I have to go in to the store get my order. If Wegmans isn't really offering curbside pickup, we need to know in advance. I would send someone else to get my groceries or shop somewhere else but now I have $200 worth of groceries sitting inside the store and I am forced to risk my health to get them. read more

I love love love Wegmans. Having visited its hallowed home of origin (Rochester, NY), I was beside myself with giddiness when one finally opened up close-ish to home. It's still a half hour drive, but that distance is doable. For Wegmans, I'd make that sojourn. I really enjoy their fresh vegetables and their growing selection of organic options. The hot food and salad bar have also come to my rescue in desperate times! One thing that I think could use improvement is the organization of products. It can be very hard to find some things. For example, I was looking for Wegmans bucatini pasta. Naturally, I went to the pasta section. I saw spaghetti, orecchiete, macaroni, penne, etc. No bucatini. Odd. I asked a floor person, and he said they must be sold out. This turned out to be false because I later stumbled upon the bucatini in question in a random "Italian" section. It was the same exact brand as the other pastas in the pasta section. I have no idea why it was in a completely different section. Happy I eventually found it, but it would have saved me a bit of time if it had been in the same section as I'd expected or if the employee knew where to find it. The other thing that bothered me was the "shabu shabu" designated meat. I do applaud Wegmans for their effort to be inclusive of Asian diets. However, if you are going to market something as a hot pot meat, please do your research. Shabu Shabu meats are meant to cook in a matter of seconds when immersed in boiling broth. That simply isn't possibly if the meat packaged by Wegmans and labeled as "shabu shabu" is almost a half centimeter thick! If you can thin-slice the prosciutto adjacent to the shabu shabu meat, then you can thin slice the pork, steak, and lamb the way it needs to be for delicious hot pot. I hope to see this change reflected sometime, because I trust the quality of Wegmans meats and would LOVE to use them for my next hot pot night :D read more

Wegmans offers fresh and healthy food options. There is parking in the garage directly out front, and the store itself is easy to navigate. The aisles are labeled by easily identifiable signage hanging from the ceiling. The store itself is clean, well-lit, customer-friendly, and provides an assortment of produce/goods. I tend to gravitate toward the already cooked meals to go in the deli section or baked goods. The homestyle potato salad there is delicious! It is almost gone every time I come after work on the way home. You can order deli items in small, medium or large containers and the weight determines the price. I also enjoy their baked chicken that comes in original, barbecue or lemon seasoning. The price point is a steal at $4.99. The store also promotes convenience and time savers such as pre-packaged meals (cauliflower rice, sushi, salads), pre-seasoned meats (steak, fish, chicken breasts), pre-cut vegetables. It is a great alternative to cooking a meal if you have a busy lifestyle or dislike food prep. However, it is more expensive. All these items are sealed fresh with an expiration date. There is a bakery onsite for various cakes and pies. Cookies are also offered in a self-serve area which I would prefer to not be open. The cookies have no cover and this can be unsanitary considering that anyone can touch a cookie and put it back. Its freshness is also compromised. A pizza counter is also available as well as a sandwich and coffee counter. The market cafe is roomy with ample seating options both indoors and outdoors. The tables and chairs are arranged in such a way where it does not create a tight space. I would definitely frequent the store more often for lunch if I worked close by. LOVE this grocery store!!! It is literally always a treat to grocery stop in this store. For me, it's an experience when I visit Wegmans and I always walk out with what I came for and then some!! I enjoy just walking around and seeing all that is offered and I love how friendly and kind the staff are. I can say that every time I've gone in at least 2 staff members have taken time to speak and say hello, other than the cashier. The prices are what I love the most. Wegmans prices can go toe to toe with ANY grocery store and win! Great store. Friendly service. Excellent day to day prices on staples like milk, eggs, chicken, ground beef. They also carry a soda called Orange Dry by Polar which is a very delicious orange soda made with 10% orange juice. It resembles Orangina but it has less pulp. I really love their cheese counter. Always have a wonderful selection of real cheeses with samples to guide you into new stinky cheese experiences. The people here try so hard to be kind, polite and helpful. Did employees get their benefits cut back? Customer service has been declining steadily the last year. I remember, when the store first opened, being excited for all the cool little touches: the shopping carts with cup holders, great produce selection, a really yummy chai at the cafe, etc. On a visit a few months ago to the cafe, I ordered the chai with organic milk, clearly offered as an option on the menu. The barista, let's call her, told me organic milk is not an option and it never has been. The sign is wrong, she said, in a I'd-rather-be anywhere-else-but-here-serving-you tone. A customer-centered business would have grabbed some organic milk off the shelf and made the drink and apologized for the false advertisement. Not giving up on that yummy chai I remembered, hormone-laden milk and all, I ordered it anyway. That was my mistake- it was not the creamy chai I remembered at all and it wasn't even hot. I took it back to customer service where I was met with incredulous, but polite service. On another occasion, I went to return an item to customer service, and I encountered the rudest cashier. No salutation, no "thank you," or "have a nice day," at the end. It's gotta be an issue of how employees are treated or compensated, because it seems they are the unhappiest people. read more

Yes, I am a fan, but I'm not in love...yet. Yelpers rave about this grocer. There is so much to take in, it's like a baby Costco. It has two aisles of bulk items which I avoided because there is only so much toilet paper a single gal can use. I lingered in the prepared food bar area for way to long. Umpteen choices, all for $8.99/lb. Choose wisely, as just a dollop of mac and cheese (that stuff is heavy) can cost you close to five bucks. It's so good though. Mine had crabmeat in it, albeit I think other shoppers absconded with the crabbiest portions. Lots and lots of cheeses. Good prices, but Trader Joe's is way cheaper if you are a cheddar fan (I love their New Zealand cheddar @ $7.99/lb). And if you think Candy Crush Saga has a lot of candy, come to Wegmans. Not just but fruit and nuts for you "healthy-minded" people. I know you sneak peanut butter cups when no one is looking! The seafood department is worth a visit. Their crablegs @ $7.99/lb were huge and fresh looking. Puts the ones I bought at Safeway to shame. Never again, Safeway! I know all you Urban DC dwellers will never make it out to the MD 'Burbs. Pretty decent grocery store. A whole lot of selection of items and very big location. Ample parking space outside and easy to access the aisles while shopping. There is also a small sitting area to eat your food and take a break. Domestication at its finest. Having never been to a Wegman's before, I would liken it to a Giant + Whole Foods + Costco combined: the low and high end stuff of the first two respective stores and the space of the third. I'll admit I was totally a bit overwhelmed and I was told this one isn't even as big as other Wegman's (are you serious?!). Want to be amused? Go there just to walk around, you could literally kill a couple of hours just people watching and browsing at ALL THE CRAP THEY SELL. You'll find truffles that go for $999/lb and aisle upon aisle of STUFF. In all seriousness, I think you could honestly get lost in that place. Most prices were very competitive, although, the drive there didn't feel like it would offset the $1 or 2 I saved here and there; equally worth going though. See you again Wegman's! I love that there's an accessible Wegman's in MD. My favorite sections are the bakery and cheese counter. If you haven't had cupcakes from their bakery, you need to! Also the bakers are incredibly accommodating and helpful. There are so many cheeses! It's a great place to stock your charcuterie. Fancy things without the fancy price. My recent jaunt brought me to the sandwich counter. Bought a couple for a picnic and they were a hit! $10 for one gigantic sandwich that feeds 2-3 adults and delicious. Can't beat that! I find the store layout a bit confusing but it might be because I don't shop there as much as I should. Also, it's interesting how they have a bulk area - I hope to take advantage of that sometime. read more

I visited the other day for the very first time and all I can say is WOW! I've been to Wegman's before in Metuchen, NJ, and it was fantastic. However, this location blows that one out of the water. This store is vast, easy to navigate, yet at times overwhelming with the sheer size and food selection. Heck, just choosing a cream cheese would stump me! My husband and I started in the hot foods area since we were starving. Coming from the Northern NJ/ NYC area, $9 a lb. ain't really sticker shock for us! However, I would have expected a larger salad area like Whole Foods. They offer a nice hot food selection with the typical American fare (Mac and cheese, ribs and chicken wings), as well as Chinese and Indian dishes. Unfortunately, the salad area was a little disappointing. My husband and I were satisfied, but I'll probably try the fresh deli sandwiches instead. They look delicious and would probably be cheaper. If they're anything like Publix sandwiches, I know I'll be happy! We proceeded to the produce section and found virtually every fruit or veggie that we could think of. They also had some larger family-sized prepackaged produce items, which were more affordable. They also have scales where you weigh your produce yourselves and print out the sticker. Really nice because you'll know how much you're paying before you check out. I also imagine this greatly expedites the check out process. In the bakery, they have a generous selection of breads, cakes, and other baked items. I bought four muffins for $4, each of which were delicious! We bought several more items and generally found the store to be well-priced. Some items were overpriced (Taylor ham), while other items were a deal (store brand cereal). The bulk items are the best deals if you can spare the space ($9.99 for 12 store brand 5.3 oz. Greek yogurts). When we paid, we found out there was a store card. We had no idea! We signed up at customer service (must show drivers license) and were given the keyring cards, as well as a complimentary store magazine that included some coupons! My husband and I intend to shop around just to be sure but I imagine this will be our primary grocery store. They have a vast selection of items, accept manufacturer's coupons, offer good customer service, and have some really affordable deals. Also note that they have a covered parking deck, which is perfect for nasty weather days. read more

Opening Sunday day was hectic! However, I really applaud Wegmans and the great customer service and well organized team to get people in/out of the parking lot and around the store. They really had a well thought out planned of the parking garage and directed people around to find quicker spots. Folks in the store were extremely friendly and I do hope it continues as time goes by. Nobody was too busy to stop and say hello or ask if I needed help. The store itself was beautiful and very big! It is a bit overwhelming but if you stick with your list of grocery's you should be safe. Wegmans carries huge varieties of fresh produce, gluten-free, and organic foods. I couldn't believe on the selections I had to choose from. I do think some of the prices are a bit higher but you really get what you pay for. The produce here is brighter in color, less bruises, and larger than Giant. The cheese, deli, seafood, and florist shops were amazing. The cheese and deli was clean and again huge variety. The husband loved it since they actually listened on how he would like his cheese sliced... nice and thin, I could see through it. Philly boy's dream come true! The seafood area was staffed well and you can ask them to steam it before taking it home as well. The floral arrangements were beautiful and really breathtaking. The prices were very fair and again wide selection of different color of roses, flowers, and seasonal arrangements. I didn't get a chance to eat at the cafe area but everything smelled so good. On a Saturday morning there were three checkouts open. I waited 26 minutes in line which was longer than I was in the store shopping. A cashier put her bank in the checkout next to the one I was in, opened several paper bags,and looked as though she was about to open. When I asked if she was opening she said "in a couple of minutes" and walked away. When I left the store 20 minutes later, she was in the parking lot talking with two other employees at the cart corral. I know stores want us to act as cashiers and baggers so they can save on payroll but not everyone is mobile enough to do that. read more

First off my complaint about Wegman's - it has blown our food budget! What don't they have? The fish and seafood area of the grocery is just amazing. Top Things: 1. Amazing seafood selection 2. Amazing eat in salad bar and hot food bar (who would have thought that dining in a grocery store was actually fun)! 3. Meat selection is out of this world. 4. Specialty foods? No problem Wegman's has almost everything.. Wegmans is a huge store. You can easily get lost in the building. They really focus on getting people in and out as fast as they can. Is there nothing that Wegmans doesn't have at a very good price? Sure. They don't have some exotic things that you'll find in an Asian market, and prices aren't as low as at Costco, but you don't have to buy bulk, and the food is fresh and most of it is organic. It's the best one-stop shop around, and the prepared foods are better than Whole Food, and you can buy the non-food items that Whole Foods doesn't have at all. went to get some drinks and remembered that I wanted to try the zico coconut water dark chocolate. couldn't find it cus the aisles are a little confusing.. initially I went to the water section but I could not find it. I asked about 2 employees and they took me to the juice section and then told me to check the water section and another told me to go to the international aisle.. then finally I told another employee how I couldn't find it so he told me he wasn't sure and that it would probably be best to go to the front and ask because they will be able to look it on the computer. went to the customer service desk and the lady helped me and told me it was in 3b. FOUND IT! yay! its a little confusing because it is a big store with lots of different things. It's great to have a Wegman's in montgomery county. There are a great number of selections and in particular I gravitate towards their meat and seafood section. This is the only grocery that sells a full line of organic meats (chicken, beef, and pork). They have the lowest priced organic rib-eye in the area and their wild scallops at 16$/pound cannot be beat even by Whole foods. Just for this reason, I come here. My only qualms is that there is no seafood court like there is at the Leesburg Wegman's and there is no alcohol (due to ridiculous MoCo policy). read more

The best grocery store of all time!!! I've never had a bad experience at this place. All products are always super fresh. Employees are super nice and friendly. We love going there. They also have a small kids room, which is a good addition to the store. You can have some lunch or dinner while your child is playing or watching a cartoon. Overall a great store, it's really an amazing shopping experience and everything you could ever need or what. However as some of the other reviewers have said, customer service is really lacking. At this pricing point, I expect more. In fact, I find better customer service at my local ALDI. When I go to a Wegman's I would hope that when I ask something about what I'm buying, the butcher behind the meat counter knows what I'm asking. Also it would be nice to be greeted with "Can I help you?" Not a blank stare, like he's half awake. The cashiers aren't very friendly either, again "Hello how are you today?" I was visiting the Wegmans around 9:10pm on April 9th and I was waiting in line to enter the store the security guard let in about 15 people and told the rest of the people that they are closed and that they are not letting people in the store even though the sign says the store closes at 10. People were arguing and then he brought out the manager and said due to state law she can't let anyone in and that she was low on staff members as well. Even though prior they let this man in after they locked the doors because he was going to locker and I think that if they are going to close there doors at 9 then they should change there sign to 9 not 10 read more

In my 31 years of going into grocery stores, I have never been so blown away. Walking into the store you are overwhelmed with fresh produce, raw meats, the smells of countless fresh cooked foods, and many more stimuli. You feel like you are in a past time we're people would come from miles around to a large market that has all the possible foods of any connecting area. When going through the front doors you can go to the left where they have a coffee shop, sushi bar, deli, meat market, seafood, cheese bar, and I am sure I left out some more. My child loves the train that stays suspended from the ceiling making large loops over several aisles in the back of the market. The variety of selections are unmatched! The cafe has a nice selection of buffet and made to order items no matter what cultural mood your taste buds are in. My only complaint is that the wegmans brand is taking over everything!
