Signature Window & Door Replacement - Marvin Infinity Fiberglass With White Interior

    Signature Window & Door Replacement

    (47 reviews)

We called our project "The Window From Hell." It was a HUGE trapezoid window up high in a 2-story…read moreliving room, and it needed to be replaced after its seal failed. I got bids, and was the most impressed with Danny L at Signature Windows. We had a tight deadline because the home was going on the market and access to the window, especially in the rain, was really challenging. Meeting the deadline, and the safety of the installers, were non-negotiable. Danny came out the very next day to measure the Window From Hell and, not only did he give me the best price, but his company was the only one that had all the scaffolding equipment readily available at no extra charge. The window arrived sooner than expected, and installation was quickly scheduled to meet the deadline. Then we hit a snag: some epic rain made the cedar roof too slippery for safe conditions. Brent and his crew of expert (and very brave) installers rigged up a safe way to haul this brand-new Mother of ALL Windows up to the second floor and install it using very long ladders, secure scaffolding, and harnesses. I think we had 4 or 5 installers for this job. It took all day to get the old Window From Hell out and the new Mother of All Windows installed. But what a job! Perfect caulk lines, perfect cleaning of the glass, perfect clean-up of the job site, indoors and out. Job done ON TIME, SAFELY, and at an excellent price. If Signature can handle my Window From Hell, I am very confident they can install ordinary double-hung windows that exceed your expectations for quality, price, timeliness, and workmanship. I highly recommend Signature Windows.

We suspected this would be an expensive project, so for years, we just put it off. Finally, last year we decided to get it done. In addition to the closet doors, we also replaced 5 interior doors for "free" (I say "free" because there were other costs associated with the interior doors). Yes, this was an expensive project--there's no sugarcoating that. BUT, it was worth it. Someone comes out for initial measurements. Then, you go to the showroom to pick your doors, and get a breakdown in pricing. The cost of the doors adds up quickly (e.g. knobs, installation cost, etc.). But, they're not trying to pressure you into anything. Once you place the order, it takes several weeks for the doors to come. In the meantime, someone comes back out to do more precise measurements. The install took a full day and a couple of hours the next day. After watching them work through some challenges with the install (e.g., crooked walls), I began to understand why it costs so much. I mean, I don't think we would've gotten close to the same results going with a big box hardware store. It's been about a year, and our doors still look great. We just wish we would've tackled this project sooner!

Second, they are balanced, and open and close smoothly. And third, and perhaps most importantly, the bifold doors aren't falling off the tracks anymore. Replacing the hardware was also a huge improvement, with levers that are easier to use. Eric and his team did such a great job with installation, and I really appreciated all of the suggestions. Several of the door frames weren't standard, and rather than ordering custom doors, Eric suggested reframing the opening, which saved us a lot of money. Another closet wasn't the standard depth, and Eric designed a closet with built-in shelves that work perfectly for the space and for storage. I couldn't be happier with the work, and I highly recommend Seattle Doors & Closets.

I specifically asked if there were any additional costs, materials, delivery, anything, and he said no, everything was included except staining & sales tax. I got another quote, which was slightly less than his price, but given that he was recommended by Frank, I choose to work with him. When the door arrived he quoted me 4-6 weeks to install the door, I kindly thanked his time and said I would rather work with someone else as I would like get my door sooner than later. He said he can do it sooner and sent the door for staining. After the install, he handed me an invoice for $3,600 plus tax. When I questioned it, his story kept changing: * First he said it was for extra materials and delivery, the same things he told me were included. * Then he stated that the trim was so expensive and that he had to go get it. * Then he claimed staining alone was $1,800. I called the staining company directly. The actual cost was $900. At that point he continued being evasive and aggressive. He eventually offered a $400 discount off his inflated invoice. Needing the project done, hoping that I never have to deal with him, I paid $3,200 and moved on. We agreed on $2,500. I paid $3,200. The difference was built on lies. Avoid.

I called Pierce County Handyman for reinstalling 4 outside corner sections of baseboard and adjusting 2 transition pieces that had been installed improperly previously. They scheduled me for a visit about a week later so an estimate could be provided. Then a day before the scheduled visit, they asked to reschedule it due to a personal reason. I agreed to reschedule. They showed up on the second appointment and provided me with a service quote and a proposed service date. I got back to them 2 days later confirming the service and was informed the previously proposed date was no longer available. They then proposed a new date in the morning which I agreed to it. 1 day before their schedule service date, they call asking to reschedule from morning to afternoon, which I also agreed to. Then on the date of service, they texted me 2 hours before their scheduled start time to attempt to reschedule for a different date. I let them know that I had made plans for the work to be done that day and that if not possible, then to cancel the whole thing. They weren't able to come out and the service was canceled at my request. A total of 3 weeks and a half went by with multiple service days agreed to and subsequently rescheduled on Pierce County Handyman's request. In the end, no work was done...

My partner and I can't say enough great things about Matt and his work! The experience from his…read moreresponsiveness when we reached out for a quote through the completion of the work was all excellent. Also, as women, I can't tell you how many times we've both had contractors talk down to us, and that was never the case with Matt. He was always friendly, professional, and respectful. And he even brought treats for our dog, who adores him! We hired Matt to help renovate part of our detached garage into a home gym. When he initially came out to see the space so he could give an accurate quote, he took about an hour so that we could talk through ideas and what he thought was feasible. His quote for the work was incredibly reasonable, and the quality of the work is stellar. He also kept the space clean as he worked, so we never needed to worry about there being random screws or sharp objects left around that we or our dog might step on. He removed a garage door, partially reframed one of the garage walls that was out of whack, installed several windows and a new door (and even picked them all up from Lowe's so that we didn't have to figure out how to fit them into our car!), and replaced the insulation in the space as needed. We opted to paint the space and install the vinyl plank flooring ourselves, but once we finished that up, Matt returned to install all of the trim, and even special ordered a piece of flooring for near the door, so that it matched. We already have a few more upcoming projects in mind for the house, and will definitely reach out to Matt first!
