First appt was set for a Sunday in February and they called an hour before the appt to let me know the consultant's car broke down and he couldn't make it. It just happened to be an unusually nice day and I was suspicious. I decided I was not going to use such an unreliable company because I felt someone could have come out in his place, or he could borrow a car if it was that important to him. A couple months go by and I'm ready to go forward on my window replacement project so I thought I would give Window Nation another chance and scheduled them as part of my three quotes. Both the first two companies were right on time for the appts, then along comes Window Nation calling 15 minutes before our appt to let me know that the consultant is running late because of traffic and he will be about a half hour late. The was the last straw for me. I wouldn't have chosen them anyway at this point because they were so undependable that getting them here to do the work would probably be a hassle too. I told them to forget the appt they would just be wasting my time at this point. I would never call the again for anything!!!

This is not a reputable company. I got their information at a Seattle Center home show (my first…read moremistake - the "show" was very small and felt like walking through an email spam folder, as various booths cat-called to try to get you to come over to their booth). I had one of their representatives comes to my house and give a bid. Their rep was a very nice young guy. After I signed a contract however, I heard nothing for weeks. I tried unsuccessfully for some time to get any response. Finally I received an email, and it generically stated that they were unilaterally cancelling our contract. I've asked for an explanation as to why, but nobody will respond. There are lots of other installers out there - stay away from these guys. By the way, their sales documents highlight the 2 founders (brothers?), but this company was actually acquired a few years ago by an investment firm. So this is far from being the locally owned family business that they portray themselves as.

Their pricing was right in line with other bids I received, but what really makes them stand out is their attention to detail and top-notch customer service. From the very beginning, they made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I had what felt like a million questions along the way, and they answered every single one with patience and professionalism--never once making me feel like a bother. Their team was communicative, respectful, and clearly takes pride in their work. Both my kitchen and deck turned out beautifully, and I couldn't be happier with the results. If you're looking for a contractor who does high-quality work, is easy to work with, and truly cares about the end result, I can't recommend Handy Craft Construction enough. I'll definitely be calling them again for future projects!

James is the consummate professional!…read more I hired James for a full day to tackle some long overdue work in my home. On our initial walk through so he knew exactly what I required, he obviously listened carefully to the plethora of jobs he was to undertake, that he required no further unnecessary input from me for the full 8 hours he was here. He followed through thoroughly with all I asked of him, much to my delight. James did a range of work from caulking, hanging multiple items such as a huge heavy mirror, added many a handle to my kitchen cupboards, door adjustments, furniture assembly and the list goes on. He stuck to his quote and he also finished everything in the allotted time. We wanted a door installed in the interior of our home. Cornel arrived, measured the space, explained the different styles, asking what we'd like. Then he went to the hardware store himself, took photos of all of the options that fit our criteria, and texted us the options so we could choose, saving me time from having to go to the store myself. He also went above and beyond by offering to fix the opposite side of the door frame, which was ugly before the project started. We didn't even think it was an option to fix that. Cornel installed the door, painted it, and fixed the trim on both sides, on the same day. The final result is absolutely perfect. It's beautiful, and the quality is stellar. We will certainly be using Smart Construction again in the future for home projects that we can't do ourselves.
