    $1 oysters
    Simone P.

Came here yesterday and really enjoyed the food. The $1 oysters were great, some were very small but hey for $1 I'll take it. The clam pizza was amazing and so garlicky and delicious. I definitely recommend. We also got the Caesar sold which was a great sharing portion, but sadly found a hair in ours. Other than that, service was great. Our waiter was very attentive. Also they randomly had one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had! Despite finding that hair, I'd still return for another try.

Waypoint in Cambridge, MA pulled off the kind of last-minute magic I honestly didn't think would happen. I snagged a same-day res. for my kid and me, expecting a 'no' or 'sorry, we're booked'. So when the host asked if it's ok to be seated at the bar, my first thought was: A counter bar with a ridiculous lip that'll make us hunch our shoulders just to take a bite. Nope. Not here. The counter here actually turned out to be the best seat in the place because it has a wonderful spot-on, table-to-chair height which felt just right. The clean, open kitchen right in front of us, was like a live cooking show! From there, the meal just kept hitting. The seafood was on point, the mushroom pie was way better than I thought and the service was warm without hovering. We had way more fun at the counter than we ever would've had at a regular table that night. Our evening felt cozy, a little chaotic (with excitement) in all the right ways and just a genuinely great night out just my kid and I.

A solid restaurant just minutes away from Harvard Square. They served delicious fresh oysters from various regions, we loved the Wellfleet. Entrees were delicious. Highlights included the crab & angel hair, it was balanced perfectly with a little acidity, and the clam pizza, which they didn't skimp out on the seafood toppings. The food quality was excellent. Service was a little slow, considering it was a weekday dinner. We could've used a little more attention from the waitress during ordering and checkout. Overall a great meal, we'd return because the food tasted really good.

Waypoint was quite busy on Friday evening, so we were lucky to have booked a reservation ahead of time. The restaurant is very modern and has a huge oyster bar in the center, which was fun to watch them hard at work. The food was incredible - my salmon was a really well balanced dish with incredible flavors from the crispy salmon itself, balanced with the creamy cici beans (almost like a smoother mashed potato), and a salad that added a great citrus and freshness to the dish. I would certainly come back for this dish in a heartbeat. The jonah crab and angel hair pasta was also good, but the salmon was definitely the star. I'd recommend going with this uni bucatini as a pasta dish over the angel hair, but all of the food here was good. We didn't actually get any oysters which is probably one of our biggest mistakes. I hope to come back here soon for some!

    Oysters and fried brussel sprouts

Went to Waypoint on a Tuesday evening with a few other coworkers. It was my first time here. Food: 7/10 Food was decent. We shared the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, the Mushroom pizza and the Smoked shrimp. Everyone at our table got at least 4 $1 oysters each person. The oysters tasted fresh and yummy! They have $1 oysters from 5-7pm and we were there at 6pm so that was perfect. All of our dishes were good. Brussel sprouts were too greasy for me; however, I understand that's the nature of fried brussel sprouts. I ordered the Whole branzino and shared with another person and that portion was huge! Presentation was nice and the green sauce was a nice touch, although my friend didn't really like the sauce so I guess it maybe an acquired taste. The flavors of the smoked shrimp were not super unique, although they were still good regardless. Overall, what we got was good, but I wish they had more salads or appetizer options other than the raw bar. Ambience and Service: 8/10 We received good service and the ambience was nice that evening. Not too loud but not too quiet. Location: 7/10 Challenging for parking if you come by car but if you take the T, Harvard station is about 10' walk from the place. The area is quite nice to walk around. Overall, decent place for being near Harvard. Pricing is on par with surrounding restaurants. If you are in the area and would like to try seafood, I'd recommend. They don't have a huge menu though, so if you look for something seafood specific you may want to check out the menu first!

I love this place. Best happy oysters in Boston. They used to be $1 but I ate so many last time I was there I think they raised it because of me to $2. But these are not $2 oysters they are four to five dollar oysters. The rest of the menu is great too everything's fresh and there's a really great vibe with the people that work there. I've said at the bar three times and the bartenders and bar backs are just a lot of fun. Great place to go after work or after school

I came here expecting a standard pricey small plates spot, but Waypoint far exceeded my expectations with unique flavors and generous portion sizes. We came here on a Saturday night with a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server was the perfect amount of attentive but not intrusive, checking in on us a good amount and refilling our waters. For the food: Oysters - sadly, we didn't make it in time for the $1 oysters, but these were fresh and delicious nonetheless. Plus, there's an oyster bar near the front if you want to watch your plate being assembled in real time. Would recommend. Fried Brussels sprouts - the standout dish of the night. These were cooked to the perfect crispiness on the outside, while remaining hearty on the inside. The fish sauce vinaigrette and lime were the perfect flavor combination and evenly spread throughout. We loved it so much that we ordered another portion. Would recommend. Fish and chips - our second favorite dish of the night. The portion size of this was HUGE. In fact, we ordered a different cod dish and there was 3 times as much cod in our fish and chips than in that. The fries could have been crispier, but the breading on the fish itself was fantastic, as were the ketchup and tartar sauces offered for dipping. Would recommend. Shrimp and pork dumplings - soft, tender, and flavorful both with and without the provided dipping sauces (soy sauce and chili oil). Not a must-get, but we didn't regret getting it either. Would recommend if you're in the mood for dumplings. Grilled broccolini - another fantastic vegetable dish. The rest of the table found it not too special, but I really enjoyed the aioli and crispy rice pieces mixed in to change up the texture. Would recommend. Smoked shrimp - another dish the table was divided on. The buttery tomato sauce tastes very strongly of tomato. IMO, the sauce and shrimp preparation weren't that special. Others chose it as one of their top dishes of the night. Would recommend you try for yourself and see. Pan seared Cod - cooked successfully, but not anything special compared to the other dishes we had. Not great value compared to the fish and chips. Would skip. Overall, we found the food here to be really flavorful and delicious. The ambiance is definitely upscale seafood restaurant with an open oyster shucking stand and open kitchen setup. The absolute standouts of the night were the Brussels sprouts and fish and chips --I would come back for those alone and to try the $1 oyster happy hour. This might be my new neighborhood favorite!

Food was excellent! Kudos to the chef for creating and preparing such delicious dishes. 1. We ordered 3 different pastas - Uni bucatini, Jonah crab & angel hair, and the Lobster Cacio E Pepe. Magnificent taste, sauce, and fresh pasta! 2. Two pizzas - Smoked whitefish and Chopped Clam. Delicious flavors. Didn't smell or taste "fishy". The pizza crust was delicious...no flop on the slices. 3. Soft shell crab appetizer: well seasoned and prepared 4. WP Fish & Chips: HUGE portion of fish and plentiful chips. Comes with a tartar sauce and ketchup. But...despite the excellent food, the entire experience was practically ruined by the terrible service and dining experience that our party of 8 had. We came on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was not busy at all so I do not think that our party was overwhelming for the staff scheduled that evening. Our server was very standoffish and had a bit of a smug demeanor. Rather than talk us through any drink and food options, he decided to just proceed to take whatever orders from anyone in our group. He also told us that the food would just come out as soon as they're prepared, rather than asking us how we might want it coursed or at the order to send them out. What is a little frustrating is that he could have asked or at least noticed that we ordered as a group to share the selections "family style". As a result we had pasta dishes come out before the crab appetizer and pizzas, etc. He was also not very attentive with our beverages either. When one person in our group asked for a glass of water, he just pointed down to the other end of the table and said, "That looks like yours." Which would have been fine except the glass had clearly been sipped. It's a bit rude to to just not go and grab another clean full glass of water. We also had members of our party who ordered soft drinks and not once during our meal did he come by to ask if we wanted a refill or order any other beverages. The final piece of poor service came at the end of the meal as we were getting ready to settle our bill. Now I know restaurants don't like or have to do any accommodations to split our bill in any number of ways, and we weren't planning to split any more than 2-3 cards anyway. However, the servers first words were "I'm not going to split it 8 ways." Without even just politely asking us first how many cards we were going to think of using. Aside from the server, we noticed that almost every other employee working this evening looked miserable, disengaged, or downright angry or depressed looking. Not quite the ambiance to enjoy a relatively pricey dinner. I LOVED the food here, but with the less than enjoyable experience I really cannot recommend anyone I know to come check this place out. To be honest, our party felt like we couldn't get the heck out of there any faster.

We stopped by for the $1 oyster. Its fresh and pretty good. We were too full to try other dishes but everyone were getting the flat breads and clam pizzas. For $1 oyster only bar sittings are available but we didn't have to wait long tho

Been here many times for $1 oyster with my friend who's a regular but today I need to leave a review bc Rocco was awesome at the bar for his service and he invented the two amazing drinks that really blew my mind. The absinthe cobbler and absinthe minded. Come and get it.

Waypoint: Cambridge's Hidden Gem Nestled in the heart of Cambridge, Waypoint is the kind of restaurant that feels like a best-kept secret--except it absolutely deserves the spotlight. A sister to Alden & Harlow, this place is so good, with an incredible menu that highlights bold flavors and fresh seafood. And let's talk about the cocktail program--just as phenomenal as its sister spot, Longfellow Bar, with a creative lineup that never disappoints. A huge shoutout to GM Eric Brand, whose hospitality and attention to detail make every visit feel special. You can tell the place runs smoothly because of his leadership. Favorites from the menu? HIRAMASA - A perfect bite of sashimi with sesame-umami brittle, jalapeño, and shoyu syrup. A must-order starter. HICKORY SMOKED SHRIMP - Served with rich tomato butter, garlic, and focaccia. The ultimate umami bomb. LOBSTER CACIO E PEPE - A luxurious take on the classic, featuring whole wheat pasta, koji butter, and pecorino. Rich, creamy, and absolutely indulgent. UNI BUCATINI - Smoked egg yolk, pecorino, and bottarga give this dish the perfect balance of briny, creamy, and savory. And for the best sweet ending? The EVOO cake with blueberries--somehow both rich and light, the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable meal. Already thinking about my next visit. If you haven't been yet, what are you waiting for?

Came a couple of times for their $1 oysters from 5-7pm on weekdays. I've been to a couple of places around Cambridge for $1 oysters and I think Waypoint has the BEST and the meatiest ones. It's the place I recommend to others who are looking for yummy $1 oysters and would definitely come back again for them. As an entree, I really like the crab and angel hair pasta.

Made reservations for a group of eight on a Saturday night and had a lovely time. It was pretty full, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. They have tables of all different sizes, as well as seats at the bar. The atmosphere is lively, but not too loud. Our server was friendly and attentive, and our waters never went empty. Each couple ordered their own dishes, but we got the Flatbread and Brussel Sprouts as a group. My partner and I shared the Fish and Chips, Hamachi Crudo, and Crab Angle Hair Pasta. We also tried their mocktails, which we enjoyed. We underestimated how large the portions would be, so I wouldn't recommend ordering more than three plates for two people. Each dish was enjoyable, flavorful, and had good textures. Overall, it's definitely not a cheap meal, but a good place to visit for any occasion for quality seafood.

Is there still an oyster happy hour?

I am pretty confident they still have happy hour oysters from 5-7pm at the bar. Only 2 dozen per person.

Do they have outdoor dining (and if so do they have heat lamps)?

Yes they do have outdoor seating. It's on the sidewalk and in the patio. I don't remember about the heat lamps though as I visited when it was not needed

Is there a separate absinthe menu? Not just the few cocktails with absinthe in them?

Just the few cocktails, but they will make you anything with it. We told them what we liked, flavor wise, and they made us drinks.

How much is the oyster? EA

$1 Oyster happy hour Mon-Sat 5-7pm and all day Sunday

Okay, so will I be full without paying 100 per person?

Yes. Brunch especially. Dinner a bit more expensive but the service is great, food is very very good to exceptional and the room is cool. Cocktails are on point but we ask… Read more

Funny enough when we visited my friend was also in town that weekend and by happenstance we happened to get to the restaurant at the same time. I would definitely make reservations because I did not realize you would need a reservation for a Wednesday night, but we did. Luckily we were able to give our name and they had a cancellation and were able to be seated within 20 to 30 minutes. The upstairs is pretty cool. I really like the decor. One of my favorites was these monkey lamps they had. The food was pretty good and we had gotten a slider for my son which basically filled him up. My wife and I split a poo poo platter and got an appetizer and that was enough for us. The drinks were really good. We had gotten a few to try. I like my first one and really enjoyed my second one. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she made one and then when we went for our second round she did say she was new to the job so I went with something I knew I would like. They also sell some of their mugs which is a cool bonus. If your into tiki drinks definitely pick up a wusong road branded mug when you stop by. We got two.
