This is our 1st time here. It is AMAZING!!! We started with cocktails. I had a cosmo. I love them. This is probably the best one I have ever had. Did not get the bartenders name. To eat My husband had the burger and I had the California chicken wrap. He said was one the the best burger he ever had and I know this was the best wrap I ever had. Everything was so fresh. Jose V was our wait staff. He was so friendly. He came to check on us at appropriate time. Not when out mouths were full and not to often to make us feel rushed. Definitely recommend this place. Wonderful ambiance and waterside views in a very pleasant setting with attentive and cooperative service. However....I think the food isn't very inspired. The fried calamari were the tiniest I've ever seen, rubbery and all rings, no tentacles. Edamame was ok -- (hard to wreck) And the sushi we tried was just average. Having said that, it's a very nice atmosphere for drinks on the deck, overlooking the boats and Inlet. Next time: just drinks and no food. read more

I had dinner with a girlfriend for the first here earlier this week and had such a nice night, despite the ungodly heat and humidity. The view is spectacular! The overall vibe was very much casual patio bar. Our waitress was very polite and friendly and allowed us to take our time with the menu. For drinks we got Aperol spritz which was a perfect light refreshing drink for the heat. For appetizers, we got the southwestern salad which had the perfect mix of toppings and the dressing was spot on. For dinner, I got the fried crabcake and my friend got the chicken wrap. Both were tasty and a good size. For what it is, a patio sandwich/salad place, it is great. I wouldn't classify it as a dinner dinner plce. The only reason for it not being a 5/5 is the crab cake sandwich didn't have any toppings on it like most sandwiches do and the menu had a lot of shrimp. Not that I don't love shrimp, you just can't eat it for every part of your meal. Also, I didn't see a dessert menu which was a let down. read more

My wife and I went there for lunch today. Brittany our server and bartender was very attentive and offered a few suggestions. My wife had the lobster and shrimp sandwich, which was excellent and not sitting of a bed of lettuce to make it look like you're getting a lot of lobster like some local waterfront restaurants. I had a burger, which was cooked exactly the way I asked, was juicy and very tasty. In addition, the French fries were actually hot and done to perfection. We will never go there again. Didn't want to sit in the sun, so we ask the manager if we could just push a table back a few inches out of the sun and he said no. He was not interested in accommodating us and suggested very rudely, to bring our own umbrella. Our initial impression was poor. We were greeted by the manager, George, who seemed to go out of his way to be rude and unhelpful. Despite several tables being open on the patio, he would not seat our group there. None were reserved because the restaurant doesn't take reservations. We were offered a table by the parking lot or inside when the whole point of coming to this restaurant was to enjoy the view. And he did it all with a TON of attitude. We stopped in for a quick lunch on the weekend. Not crazy busy but a very rude waitress and then manager. They switched us to two different tables then forgot about us. The only good thing about this restaurant is the beautiful view. I went there today because it was an unseasonably warm day for October and we wanted to dine outside. My fried seafood platter consisted of 5 small frozen shrimp and a few oysters which were tasteless and unrecognizable, oh - I almost forgot to mention the clam strips . Waypoint 622 used to be our go-to! Very disappointed when we dined last evening. We sat indoors because we were dressed nicely and it was windy. It took some time for someone to come and greet us and take our drink order. Once the waitress took our order, another one showed up to do the same. Somewhat of a mix-up there. My wine was served in a Waterman's Tavern glass and my husband's gin and tonic was served in a plastic disposable cup! Our first course was clams on the half shell and a wedge salad to share. The wedge salad was delicious and fresh, however there was a bad clam on plate. When the manager came over, he said sorry and offered no remedy for the bad experience my husband had upon tasting that clam and immediately spitting it out. No bread was offered. The extra plates and the serving plate for the salad were never removed during the entire dinner. Water glasses were never refilled during the entire dinner. The meals, tuna and steak & shrimp, were very small for the price - more like a lunch portion. We were hungry one hour after arriving home, which is never the case after dining out. The overall service was terrible and the food very disppointing compared to the past. This is our last visit - too many other great restaurants! read more

How can a great location be this bad? The waitress was just flat out rude! We went for lunch Sunday 4 of us and she called the other couple mom and dad . I am 58 and they are 63. Mom and Dad??? We had 2 table settings asked 3 times for the other 2 and did not receive until after our meals came. Well that would 3 of the 4 meals and the cranky smile less manager brought mine out after 5 minutes. Still no silverware. No ketchup no sauce no silverware, no napkins and no water which she stated she would bring as we looked at the 2 menus we were given instead of 4.The food was good but the RUDE waitress then threw the check on the table before we finished and said have a nice 4th. We opted for inside and were seated in a totally empty room at a table in the glaring sun. We asked to move to one of the other 5 empty tables and were refused. Came on a Saturday afternoon. Sat outside on the deck. No problem getting a table, and no wait. Plenty of room and tables were spaced appropriately. The hummus and pita appetizer was really good! My red sangria was excellent as well. I had the short rib tacos, which were delicious but very messy. Wish they had come with something other than tortilla chips. A side of rice and beans would have been a better choice. Prices were reasonable. I think my friend and I paid 14 for our lunches. Not bad, especially for the area. I grew up coming to this place and was unfortunately very disappointed with our last trip. The rare tuna was overdone (deep fried at that!) and the salad was soaked in a mayo-heavy dressing with a ton of mushy blueberries, yuck. We were brought the wrong drinks, and it took quite awhile to flag someone down to fix it, then when the right ones finally came, the pour was super weak! Yikes. As a fan of the old Union Landing, which was never a gourmet spot but great for a nice view, a drink and a burger, I was excited to try Waypoint 622. I went with a group of 5 girls and we had an indoor dinner reservation at 8. We arrived shortly after 7 to enjoy an aperitif on the outside deck. The bar was absolutely packed as was expected for Brielle in the summertime. Some folks had their dogs dining with them at outdoor tables! Our table was ready promptly at 8. Wine selections were pretty good, with cellar options for those looking to splash out, and a nice variety. We opted for Rosé and Pinot Grigio both served graciously by our server, CJ, who was attentive and polite. The olive bread served with garlic oil was excellent. Mako bites and firecracker shrimp apps were kind of bland and left something to be desired. For dinner, I ordered the "Omakase Special" (which really isn't- you choose a special roll, 4 pieces of sushi or sashimi, and a house roll). All sushi was fresh and the salmon was buttery and really outstanding. My dining companions ordered a few different entrees. The bone in pork Milanese was lacking seasoning, unfortunately. My friend enjoyed the lamb but it was ordered medium rare and was slightly overdone. The salmon was fair as well. Overall the entrees lacked pizzazz. Of note- the service was excellent. One member of my party has celiac disease and Our server CJ was happy to confirm that what she selected was gluten free. Overall, Waypoint is a nice place, but at this price point the entrees could use a little work. I would probably return for drinks and maybe a casual lunch on the outdoor deck. read more

Conveniently located right next to Hoffman's Marina. Great outdoor seating area overlooking the water. Good service. A locals favorite, fun ambiance. Food was good, although in the dish we had the Dungeness crab was too salty. We think it is the way it comes prepared in the brine, as the rest of the seafood in the dish, as well as the broth, was perfectly seasoned. read more

Excited about eating outdoors...it's what most of us look forward in the summer. Unfortunately the Open Table reservations only apply to inside dining all of a sudden, or you can wait for 2 hours. Decided to eat inside...not much ambiance but the food was good. On the other hand, service was slow and below average. Better places to spend your summer and time. read more

What a great location. There is always a lot of people, but I guess everyone just accepts the subpar food. On the weekend it was crowded and service wasn't great and neither was the food. I went back yesterday because I love the location. Well that was dumb. The service was good, but the food is still bland as ever. Grilled chicken is served "cold"? Salad is so unappealing when it is served and mushy. Firecracker shrimp served in a paper sleeve and served over dead what? Old parsley? Chicken wings with NO flavor, just sticky. I went with 8 of my girlfriends and was so disappointed with the food. I wanted a grilled mahi-mahi but the waitress never told me the taco mahi doesn't come grilled. It came out so salty and blackened and I couldn't eat it. She had a sass about her when I told her it was too salty for me and I told her I wanted a grilled mahi-mahi, she said u can order something else but I can't take that off the menu. Ok didn't eat it $400 later came home and made myself something to eat. I will avoid that place and I have lots of friends who will go where I go. To think they couldn't accommodate me for a grilled mahi-mahi is sad. Very sad. read more

I was witness to the way the manager treated one of their customers. I thought it was a one off incident, until I looked at the reviews and it seems to be the same pattern. He seemed hate filled, and very aggressive. I would not return to this restaurant, nor any affiliated with it until they take care of the issue. Hi! First review ever written in my life but felt compelled to write it. Got kicked out because my buddy asked the manager why he was being a dick? It was a very fair question, because the manager was being an actual dick. So entire party of 12 gets kicked out because of 1 guy? Very confrontational manager. All we were trying to do was get a table but the manager was making it very difficult. I will say, the one drink I had was decent. I appreciate the security guards letting us finish our drinks before giving us the boot. Very classy security indeed. Other than that, place sucks. Go to Pig N Parrot next door or to Union Landing if you own a time machine. I joke a lot but for real, the manager is really out of line dude. Not cool. Waypoint 622 Restaurant has my original review ( prior to COVID & the opening of Waterman's) as one of the top 4 on their website. Unfortunately, my new review is definitely not a positive one. I chose this restaurant for my birthday, on August 8, 2022, because I considered it one of the finest in the area. We always dressed for the celebration, a sports jacket for my husband & I wore a new dress. We expected the usual beautiful tables adorned with candlelight, waiters in black shirts & well groomed, and a menu with a variety of gourmet meals. It was high-end price-wise but worth every penny. What a shock! We have had lunch in the patio area in the past, so knew that was available but we were there for a special celebration. The view was always very relaxing, but inside you could not see the water because the windows were so dirty. We were told they did not take reservations & now I understood why. We walked into a room that looked like it would after closing due to the bare tables. There were black tablecloths, no centerpiece, and no flatware or napkins on the table. We did see four upside-down water glasses, that's it. The waitress told us to pick a table---there was only one additional family seated when we arrived. I looked into the restaurant and saw a ghost town of empty tables--what happened? Our waitress told us they only cater to the bar scene outside- Music Bingo, etc. Why didn't they tell us when we called? A beautiful establishment was now another typical Jersey Shore dive. We ordered drinks & waited for menus. The menu was very limited but we thought we would give it a chance as I had read about the chef on their website. I ordered a chopped salad as my appetizer with the sirloin & scallop dinner. My husband ordered the Waypoint Wedge salad with the tuna special. Within 10 minutes a young waiter appeared with salads and dinners on hand...we didn't even start to enjoy our cocktails! The waiter looked at me as if he had no clue why we were surprised. We told our waitress to return the meals. I should have known better, we received the same meals, and they were just warmed again. The sirloin was rubbery. What they called Bearnaise sauce was a runny liquid, and the scallops were semi-raw. My husband described his tuna as "ok" and only ate part of it. The meals did have a nice presentation, but no flavor. The only part of the meal with appeal was the chopped salad and the white chocolate tartofo we shared for dessert. The waitress said it was store-bought but was worth trying. The tartofo was very tasty. At the advice of our waitress, we strolled over to the Pig & Parrot for an after-dinner drink. It was a wonderful suggestion except she failed to tell us the valet parking lot would be closed when we returned. The valet key was locked inside. The police called the manager who knew we had a 1-hour ride but would not come back to help. We had to Uber home at the cost of $78. then drive back again to pick up our car so it wouldn't be towed. The next morning we had to drive back & pick up our key. My birthday was a memorable one, we ate in what looked like Waypoint's basement with mediocre food. We even requested to speak to the chef but he never came to our table. The only reason I even gave it a 1-star rating was because my Aperol Spritz was well made & we had a sweet waitress. Obviously, we do not plan to return but wanted to warn others that may be looking for a nice place for dinner. This is not the place, it's overpriced & a big disappointment. ----very sad. read more

Went on Saturday night for my birthday dinner with my family. We were running a bit late and they had no problems accommodating our 15 minute delay. Once we arrived we were seated immediately which was nice. We got our drinks quickly and placed our order. My tuna tartar appetizer arrived within 10 minutes of ordering which was surprising. I'm thinking that I got someone else's order but nonetheless it arrived quickly. It was fairly flavorless despite there being a number of different sauces on the plate. Then the night got a little strange. We had two kids with us under 11 so they got simple orders. One ordered fries and the other ordered a pizza w/ fries. Just after my tuna was cleared an order of fries arrived for my one daughter. The manager implied that he wanted to get them out to her since they were fresh which was appreciated with the anticipation our main dishes would be arriving soon. That wasn't the case. Tables that arrived much later than us were enjoying their entrees while we waited. We called out to one of the managers who was certainly pleasant and informed us that the pork chop entree (house specialty) takes longer to cook than other entrees. That would have been good to know when we ordered as I would have selected something less involved. We have a young puppy at home so our time out is limited. When the food finally came out (50 minutes later) my wife's plate was pretty light in terms of portions. When she ordered she was offered a plate of rice with assorted vegetables. She chose to forego the veggies and asked for more rice but there was barely any at all. The pork chop dish, the signature, was super salty - in fact it was all that I tasted in the broth. We had the chance to offer our complaints while we were there but felt that it would be a bit of a "cry wolf" scenario since we voiced concerns about the time it took on the entrees. The manager did come by and apologized for the delay and offered us free dessert which was certainly a nice gesture. Because we needed to get home we didn't take them up on the offer for free dessert but nothing else was adjusted on the bill (perhaps take off the pizza/fries or a drink?). We had such high hopes because the menu looked amazing but it just amounted to a disappointing and expensive night. read more

This place had some of the worst food I've ever eaten. Maybe we just ordered wrong? If so, avoid the below choices. We ordered chips and salsa, tuna tartare, ahi tuna lettuce wraps, and two different sushi rolls. The chips were so stale and the salsa was watery. Hard to mess up chips and salsa but they somehow did it. The tuna tartare was actually decent. The lettuce wraps were terrible. The ahi tuna was not fresh at all and there was no flavor. It was served with balsamic vinegar, the kind that comes out of a salad dressing bottle, and just random veggies on the side to wrap in flat butter lettuce. Worst of all was the sushi. The rice was overcooked and terribly mushy, with no rice vinegar flavoring. I could barely taste the fish in the sushi, but what little I tasted was not fresh either. Very disappointed. Here is my Waypoint 622 experience: We were running late due to traffic for a reservation we made THREE MONTHS ago for a window table. After calling ahead to let them know, we arrived 8 minutes late but they must have immediately let our table go to another group who were apparently starting their main course!?!? IN 8 MINUTES!! A bad start to the evening we got a rude and sharp middle aged waitress who seemed a little put out that she had to serve humans for a living. The food was very poor, my porkchop was the driest thing i have eaten since a friend dared me to eat a tablespoon of cinnamon. with the soggy over-cooked asparagus and carrots so undercooked they must have been cooked in a warm bath, the rest of the meal didnt help. I guess i should have known the main meal would have been bad after our starter bread tasted burnt like biting into an old ashtray and the little disks of butter would have been better used in the NHL as pucks as they were unspreadable! For desert we got a mushy mess which they call bread and butter pudding but was more like when you get home afterwork and realise you left half a bowl of cereal on the table and my cheesecake was a wedge of dry glue with lumps in it which i was tempted to take home and use to fill a pothole i keep driving into. Well, we left very disappointed by the food, awkwardly loud venue, fake little candles and poor service.... all of this framed in a ridiculously high bill which even half the price would have been too much! Except for the view, this place offers nothing that is good. Drinks were watered down (martinis tasted alcohol free). Food was terrible-cajun shrimp over plain linguini, Mahi wrap with minimal mahi topped with some kind of pico, had a bad taste. Service also not good. Waitress dropped off oysters and after 10 minutes I went to bar to get plates and utensils, as we were tired of just staring at them. Table dirty. Asked for a side of cranberry, no ice, came with ice and was almost clear colored with carbonation (?). I had lunch here in June and all was good, not sure if the chef or management changed, but it was the biggest waste of $500 we have ever spent. I grew up here, and it has always been a fact that the places with the nicest views have the worst food. STAY AWAY. I normally would say go there for drinks just for the view, but as I and many other reviewers have mentioned, alcohol is watered down. As a former bartender in NJ, its is against the law to add water to alcohol. Not sure why the authorities haven't picked up on this one. I will never go there again. read more
