We had 25 people for a Communion Party in the Wine Room with a sit-down plated all Gluten Free menu and it was FANTASTIC. The initial response to our event inquiry was quick despite the quick turnaround timing. Jessica was incredibly responsive and any miscommunications were immediately remedied. The guests (comprised of usually-picky restaurant industry alumni) were blown away by the taste and quality of the food and said it was better than regular food made with gluten *Chef got a well deserved ovation. Portions were surprisingly large for the seated lunch menu option and cost effective for the area, especially since they did not inflate the cost due to my ask of making EVERYTHING Gluten Free for my Celiac daughter celebrant. They even made GF bread for bread service for the tables (chef advised they get GF flour from Italy) and they can make so many GF options because they make everything "old school" from scratch. The fried Calamari is AMAZING. The server was fantastic also. We came before the seasonal liquor license was active but she still was on top of filling everyone's sodas, etc as if they were drink-drinks. The management was also elbow deep in clearing plates and wrapping even the family style salads grandparents asked for to-go. We didn't want for anything despite coming at the awkward time of 4-7pm. And yes, we were THOSE people not seated ordering espresso and cappuccino but everyone still got everything and even ate the flourless chocolate torte for dessert because it was also fantastic. We couldn't take any pictures because we all inhaled the food so fast, it was too delicious. They are amazing people, amazing food, so accommodating, and the value for their product is something no one else in this area could ever compete with. read more

First, I had read reviews from various sources about this restaurant, and it seemed people either hated it or loved it; hardly any in-between. So having lived in this area my entire life, I had never dined here for one reason or another. A good friend and I decided to try it last night. When we arrived, the parking lot was just about empty, though to be fair, it was the night before New Year's Eve and only 5:30. Naturally I was hesitant once seeing that. But as soon as we entered, the first thing I noticed were the gorgeous decorations for the holiday season. Within a minute we were greeted and seated, and the waitress (Christina ?) came over right away and made us feel right at home. Throughout the meal she was knowledgeable and attentive. Also during our meal, the manager and even the chef came over to see how everything was. Now to the food. Excellent! I had the lamb chops which were done perfectly with a nice crust, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp-tender, which is the way they should be. Also no heavy sauce on the lamp chops which many times can hide off flavors of the meat. The mashed potatoes were good, but I so enjoyed the lamb chops and vegetables that I didn't pay much attention to it. My friend ordered the Veal Milanese. He said it was done perfectly and he even ate the arugula, which he usually doesn't like. The prices are also very good for what you get. Note that it's BYOB from October (?) through April. I hardly ever write such a long review but in this case, I felt I wanted to, as this place rates as one of the highest--food-wise, price, service--we've been to in New Jersey. read more

Went to Waypoint 622 for the first time ever after a recommendation from my sister in law. They were fairly empty as the weather looked like it was ready to pour. We sat inside an i ordered the Jambalaya. This turned out to be a mountain food that was really good. There was plenty of small shrimp and chicken in a mix that was plenty hot enough. I call this having Life in the dish and this has plenty. I could have had a bit more sausage in it but it had enough for me. It was wonderful and I will order it again when I return. My wife had the fried shrimp, clams and oyster platter and she also really liked it. The waitress also mentioned that she was the only waitress in the place as they thought they were going to be slow and it turned out they were not. Based on her effort and a person she was training the service was fine and you would have never known they were short. This is odd as in some recent posts this was noted as an issue and I didn't experience it. Cannot wait to go back! Came here on a beautiful fall afternoon for lunch and what a great experience. Got a beautiful seat outside looking over Hoffman's Marina and the Manasquan River, absolutely beautiful, what more could you ask for. Our great waiter, TJ got us started with a couple of great drinks. Couldn't have asked for better service from him. He was friendly, helpful and attentive throughout. We love oysters so we started out with some of their seasonal oysters, fresh and delicious. We then shared a couple of great choices from their lunch menu, the Fried Seafood Basket with shrimp, clams, oysters and fries and the Corona Battered Alaskan Cod Sliders with house fried potato chips, both were delicious. My husband and I went to Waypoint for lunch. The view is beautiful. My lobster and shrimp roll was really good and so was my husband's pulled pork sandwich. I ordered the NJ Lemonade, I think that's the name of it. There was barely a drop of vodka in it. Wow! What a great experience. Our first outing since COVID-19 began. They started outdoor seating last week so the first night they reopened we sprang at the opportunity to get out on the nice summer evening :) I've never been here before and this place exceeded my expectations! We had a drink at the bar and enjoyed the view while we waited 30 min or so for our table. (They had less tables out because of social distance rules) Lisa our server was so great and so friendly! We started with the freshest cleanest oysters and very healthy chicken lettuce wraps. My mom and I got the Wedge Salad with shrimp. So fresh and yummy! I definitely had entree envy - my fiancé got the horseradish crusted tuna and it was THE best tuna I've ever had. And my dad got the chicken Milanese and that was THE best chicken I've ever had. We decided to go here for a quiet bar vibe on a Saturday night because the Pig and the Parrot was packed and pretty noisy. Got seated within 20 minutes. Waitress was polite, but handed us dirty plates to use for our calamari at first, then forgot to bring out utensils with the calamari so we were waiting to eat it for a bit. Waters tasted funny, not sure if it was the way the cups were washed or where the water was coming from. Calamari was crispy but the portion was kind of small for the price. My California chicken wrap was pretty decent, probably the most redeemable thing to bring it to two stars. My boyfriend also got a garden state lemonade, but that tasted like straight water. Felt like a waste of $11..probably won't be coming back here again. read more

Don't use the valet parking there. They out source the parking to a third party. Our car and another were damaged in the lot. I saw the valet (who I think was under influence) back our car into another). After numerous calls to the valet company, none of our calls and emails have been returned. That being said, the so called chopped salad was nothing more than you throwing pieces (not chopped) of iceberg with about 3 pieces off a slice of red onion and 2 cherry tomatoes sliced and some manufactured provolone. Also bottled dressing, not their specialty made one. When explaining my first time there and that the salad (after settling for the lousy scanty food, seafood quesadilla), wasn't what I had hoped for, the happy angry loser manager says he would box it up and I said I really don't want it, and in his pleasant nasty demeanor of fight or flight said it was staying on the bill. Have delicious New American inspired food as you overlook the Manasquan River and marina docks. Frequent live entertainment, and Jenkinson's fireworks are visible from Waypoint's patio bar starting at 9pm every Thursday (for those pups that can handle it!). I knew going in that the food was not going to be great, but went for a night out, close to home. I ordered the crabcakes, which was expensive, and when arrived, shredded crab, not lump crab. My daughter previously ordered the crabcake app, it was fried and took it home only to end up in the garbage the next day. Frankly, Ive had better food at a gas station. However, when we pulled into the parking lot, to find it is listed as temporary closed, later that evening we learn it is permanently closed. Why this is relevant to this review is the whiskey lounge is and was owned by the same people as Waypoint. So we decided to take a chance on the waypoint. We figure the food is excellent at the whiskey lounge, I would think it would be excellent at the waypoint not to mention a view. Well let's just say we figured wrong. There's only a view! Happy hour of specialty bourbon and whiskey drinks, charcuterie pretzels and gourmet grilled cheese that we have grown to love and crave are not even offered at waypoint instead, we settled on a spinach and artichoke dip which tasted like it was frozen and shoved in the oven, seafood quesadilla that was mostly filled with corn and a shrimp. lobster roll that I needed a search party to find the lobster. Now let's get into the price. OVERPRICED ! I would have walked out of the whiskey lounge spending under $100 with a full belly and a great time instead, I walked out of the Waypoint and I felt robbed. I don't write reviews but I had a horrible experience at Waypoint 622. Specifically with the manager George. After a waitress accidentally up charged me $40 on drinks, I asked the manager George to check the bill. the bill was already paid, and I asked George to look it over. George refused to look at the bill, and told me not to complain. After asking for his name, he refused, stormed off, then came back and continued to tell me how I was wrong. Me and my girlfriends were shocked. He treated us so rudely. And there was a huge mistake on the bill! He tried to be little me, even saying "congratulations on being able to do math." Other customers came up to us, asking if we were okay since he was being so disrespectful to three young women. The next day, we came back to speak to a women manager who said I would be refunded and other waitresses said they saw what was going and knew George was in the wrong. I was told he was going to call and apologize for his actions...and yet he never did. Instead, the women manager apologized on his behalf. Many excuses were made on his behalf. All I am getting is my refunded money back and a horrible experience at Waypoint. Search his name in Waypoint reviews and you will see others complaining about the manager George. Beware if you go to Waypoint and a mistake is made by them it will be a challenge to fix it! read more

I've been to Waypoint at least 6 times over the past 5 years and can't believe I didn't review it. For the view and vibe it's a 5 star. I tell people who want to sit by the water to go here. There are no reservations for the patio so plan accordingly. Here at the Jersey Shore we are over run with visitors in the summer. If you can work around your beach schedule I would do an early lunch. The menu is sandwiches and salads mostly and it's better for lunch. I usually get the California wrap which disappointed me this time. They used to put a spicy aioli but it was either missing or not an option now so my wrap was not great. The other diners had a wedge salad, lettuce wraps with chicken, and pulled pork. Only the pulled pork got a thumbs up. Chicken wings were good. Highlight of the night was the chocolate cake - that was delicious! Tough call on the rating, I think the food has slipped on taste, service was good, view is great. read more

This might have been the worst service ever. We were a party of 8 and 2 of our group were late. The server came to take our order but we said we would wait and get drinks. Service was slow and the place wasn't that busy. Our server had an attitude that we laughed about throughout our dinner. When our guests arrived she took their drink order and forgot one of them. We had several rounds with some people getting drinks and others forgotten. (Beers by the way... should be simple, right?) As a local, we've been here a few times but I've never felt strongly enough about the restaurant either way to write a review about it. Tonight, however, we ran into a little issue with the new manager Jorge. My girlfriend and I arrived for her birthday dinner as the first two people of a party of nine. As a policy, we were told that there's no waiting list or reservations and they're not able to hold any tables while you're waiting for the rest of your party. All well and good there -- the other seven people arrived and we were promptly seated on the overflow terrace. Here's where the problem occurred. It was over ninety degrees outside and we were sat in the corner of the terrace behind some tall foliage which blocked what little breeze there was. There was another table about twenty feet away that was empty with no parties waiting, so we asked to switch so we could be a little cooler while eating. The hostess at the hostess stand said she had to check with the manager if we could switch tables even though we weren't even seated yet and nothing had been brought to the table. A few minutes later, the manager Jorge comes over and says, "I heard you had a question about the table." We repeated our request to switch tables since there were no parties waiting to sit down. Rather than apologize or make any sort of concession, he rudely stated that they were holding that table for a party of fourteen and that we couldn't move. When we told him that we were just told by the hostess that they don't hold tables as a policy, he became standoffish and vaguely pointed to the parking lot stating, "the party is coming right now so we can't move you". The other party did not arrive for forty minutes after that conversation. Forty minutes. Additionally, Jorge tried to pass the buck off onto the owner as if that would make it appropriate to look a customer in the face and lie to them. I've been to many of the restaurants in the area, and Jorge was without a doubt the rudest manager I've ever interacted with. As a manager, you should understand that you are a role model for other employees and that your actions reflect on the restaurant as a whole -- this is a concept that Jorge has clearly failed to grasp. If I was the owner of Point 622, I would have a chat with Jorge about his glaring lack of customer service skills before he ruins anyone else's experience. On to the food and service. If you do end up dining here, ask for Billy Joe to be your waitress. She was kind, attentive and it was an overall pleasure to be served by her. She radiated positivity and good energy, which is not easy to do while waitressing in a mask in ninety degree heat. Get that woman a raise! While not a stiff pour, the Garden State Lemonade was a delicious and refreshing cocktail. The tuna tartare was a little bland but not terrible. The portion size was great but the tuna itself was barely seasoned so you have to make sure to get some of the sauce on the plate with every bite. It was too hot for a real entree, so I went with the seafood cocktail ($26) which was small but fresh and very tasty. I finished with a tiramisu which was quite nice -- I'd recommend that to anyone who dines here and loves a quality tiramisu. Unfortunately, while Billy Joe was an incredible waitress and the food was fairly decent, the negatives outweighed the positives here for us. It's a shame that a rude manager with an attitude problem detracted from what was otherwise a good birthday dinner. We will most likely be taking our business elsewhere moving forward. read more
