I had a walk-in manicure here about 2 weeks ago with great results. The woman was super nice and she did a fantastic, clean job. I watched the stylists work on hair and everyone seems friendly and super talented. I am commenting on his customer service skills and nothing else, which he clearly has none of. I purchased an Aveda Hair product, (Control Paste) from the salon and wished to return it. After telling him the product has a strong odor (a nauseating smell), he suggested that I was Pregnant and maintained that "I should go and get myself checked" before quickly turning his back and walking away. I am not, nor was I ever pregnant. His insinuations are appalling and leaves me to wonder if he treats his other customers in such a disrespectful and distasteful manner. read more

Called in for a Groupon OPI mani pedi. Paid tax and tip for good service. The nail tech was polite, took her time, but didn't remove a layer of color which made the nail lumpy. She did correct another when I mentioned it. I wasn't picky because she was nice. Mainly are a hair salon, so the polish selection can be expanded. A bit pricey without the Groupon. Well, well, well today was an experience that I have to say was the most amazing and the BEST massage that I have EVER!!!received by far. We had an appointment for 9a today for a full body massage and facial. I have to tell you this is the way everyone should start their day. When we arrived we were welcomed with all smiles. The staff was very pleasant and I loved that. The salon and spa was very tranquil and clean and very relaxing. We were escorted to the massage rooms where we met our masseuse. It was the right mood tea lights were lit along the hallway and very calm relaxing music was on to get us in the mood. I had my facial first and it was so amazing and soothing. Then I had my full body massage from Mr. Bernard AKA as I renamed him "magic hands". He was amazing he found all the knots in my body and all the pressure points and he stretched my limbs and massaged from my head to my toes. He applied the right pressure I needed. It was the most amazing experience. I seriously did not want to leave. I was a totally different person after that massage. When it was all over we were ushered into the relaxing room where some sparkling cider and a tray of delicious fruits awaited us. Would I go back there? Absolutely, I would definitely make sure that go back at least once a month. Love, love love it!!! They got 5 thumbs from me awesome!! read more

Came here with a Groupon deal for a Mani-Pedi. Was able to get an appointment pretty easy. Nail technician was pretty quiet and not friendly at all. The rest of the staff (hair stylists, etc) kept eye-ing me throughout the service which made me feel very uncomfortable. Once I was sent to dry my nails, the staff never helped me get my belongings together or to set my shoes on after getting my nails done. Also, when I was giving my at the front desk, one of the hair stylists who handed me the envelope completely watched me take my money out and put it in the envelope, which was beyond awkward. Overall, not worth the Groupon or experience. There are better salons in Park Slope to go to, especially for a Mani-Pedi. read more

This is now my salon of choice. A while back, I was traumatised from a bad hair experience at another salon. Months later with now much shorter hair due to the damage and a mess of colours, I went in for my appointment. Garvin was my hairdresser, I was so impressed, he looked at my hair, and started asking some questions.. all I had asked for was a single process to colour my roots, eventually waiting for the day my hair would be one colour again. He said he could fix up the colour mess, I was skeptical for two reasons.. how much would a colour correction cost.. and would it actually work. I agreed to let him do the colour correction, I was so happy with the end result, it took a few hours and i'm pretty sure they stayed back later than normal to finish the job, and the price was fair. This is now my go to place. Garvin took the time to listen to what I asked for, asked some questions, figured out what really needed to happen and I was delighted to find out I could afford it all. It is so very refreshing not to be rushed in and out, and to find someone who takes pride in their work, knows their product, and looks after their customer. They are interested in repeat business not a quick buck. Can't reccomend enough. read more

It's nice to sit in a salon chair and feel confident that the person about to do your hair is an expert who can cut, style, color, CARE for your hair and who has vision. That's what I experienced yesterday while sitting between the floor length mirror and Gavin, the owner of Agassi's Salon and Spa. My hair was blah, ashy, and lifeless, which explains why I had been wearing it up in a ponytail for months. I knew I needed SOMETHING, but exactly what that SOMETHING was, I wasn't sure. Gavin helped me figure it out. He knew how to work with my hair (locks). He knew how to create a color that would compliment my skin. He knew how to make the color pop. He gave me a perfect cut that helped me to look more professional as well as fashionable. Also, he gave me great advice on how to maintain the style and color. Excellent service! Called on a Saturday afternoon around 11:30 to see if they had an opening in the next few days- and the receptionist called me right back to let me know that if I lived close enough, they could fit me in at noon today. I came in and was taken care of right away. My hairdresser, Maria spent a whole hour with my dry hair. I only needed a trim, and she took the time to condition and style it well. She cut it just the length I wanted, and I appreciated that she checked with me about the length along the way. The salon has an open, airy, and relaxed vibe. I have come here three times for a highlight and cut, the first time went I loved the atmosphere, nice and peaceful, and my hair came out decent although it took a long time, Gavin was my stylist and was training his asst so I remained patient since she was still learning. The next time I came it was the same deal the process took forever and his asst was still in training mode, although I found myself feeling bad for her and at times it was very uncomfortable.. I thought maybe I would help her escape at some point. The last time I was there, which will be the very last time i go, it was even worse, the poor girl couldn't do anything right, but this time the entire staff was complaining and whispering to his asst and him... it seems like there is a lot of drama going on there, it's just not worth it anymore. read more

I made a list minute appointment for wash & blow out before an office party this weekend. I was really annoyed to be kept waiting for over 40 minutes - I ended up being late to my next appointment @ nail salon and having to rush like crazy to get dressed & ready to be on time. The party was on a boat so being late really wasn't an option. the wash included a really great head massage and the blow out was fine but nothing special. By the time it was done I couldn't even care that it wasn't all I wanted because I was in such a rush. I appreciate that they fit me in, but if the time wasn't really available it's better to just be honest about that. IF I ever go back it will only be with plenty of time and patience in case I'm kept waiting again read more

I just went to Wayne Agassi's today and I got my hair done by CJ. I had and AMAZING experience. As soon as my mom and I walked in we were greeted by the receptionist and immediately offered refreshments. The atmosphere of the whole salon was very welcoming. It was clean and modern. I was quickly seated and CJ took her time to figure out what I wanted. She asked my questions and gave me awesome suggestions taking into account what she thought would look best with my facial features and complexion. She walked me through every step in the process and made sure I was comfortable with what she was doing the whole time. The end result came out beautifully and I will definitely be visiting again in the near future. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Came here because I got a $55 Groupon for a cut and single-process color. The boss-- Gavin-- assured me it would only take about an hour and a half. What follows was the strangest, longest day of my life. Gavin tried to convince me that I should go for the double process instead, which he said would be $85 extra, because, in his words, "you need highlights with that style!" Being someone with a starting salary straight out of college, I refused his offer many times. But then he said, "fine. $55. I'll charge you only $55 extra." By no means was I trying to bargain with him, but as he made me a bit uncomfortable while at the same time he seemed like he knew what he was talking about, I gave in. I warned him that I had some residual pink patches in my hair, as I had dyed it at home a couple months ago. He shrugged it off, told me not to worry about it, and said he'd get rid of the pink. A hairdresser named Maria (she's great and I think she should find a better place to work) put highlights in my hair and dyed the top brown. Everything seemed great. But when she went to wash off the bleach and dye, things began going downhill. It seems that in Gavin's rush to get me to pay more money, he'd forgotten that bleach just makes pink hair more pink. As I could hear how panicked he and Maria sounded, Maria went and got me a mirror to look at my hair with. I freaked. It looked like an orange-pink mess. They both assured me it'd be ok and that they'd fix it. They started putting what Gavin said was some sort of mixture of bleach, toner and shampoo on my hair. I asked why, he said this was to strip the color. It felt like it was burning my scalp off. And I don't even know why they put it on my scalp, because the brown hair dye had already covered the pink parts on the top of my head. After two hours of having this acidic mixture on my head, they washed it off. My whole head, somehow, was now an orangey blonde. Keep in mind it's been four hours now, and I had originally asked for just plain, brown hair. And now, I have Jeff washing my hair for some reason. Gavin and Maria are off fightingover who has to deal with my hair. Yes. Fighting right in front of all the customers. So I'm still holding the mirror Maria gave me, and freaking, and Gavin comes over and snatches it away from me. He proceeds to dump some stuff on my hair, I think maybe it's conditioner or more toner, but I don't know because I don't have the mirror anymore. It turns out. The substance he dumped on my hair? BLUE- GREEN HAIR DYE. The next person who washes my hair is a woman I don't even know the name of. This is the 4th person to touch my hair. So now. My freaking hair is blue and green, with a touch of blonde on top. Keep in mind, again, I wanted brown hair and a haircut. Gavin asks how I like it, and I tell him, it's kind of a mess, and not what I wanted. He fires back, "you're really asking for a lot, sweetheart." So at this point I'm so mad, and it's 4:30 PM, and I've wasted my whole day in this insane establishment. So I tell Gavin, "I would really just like to get out of here. Can Maria just cut my hair so I can go?" At this point Gavin turns full on crazy. He tells me "no. You can't leave until I am done fixing this." I protest. I say, "I don't even need her to cut my hair. I just want to leave." He physically blocks me from leaving. At this point I'm pretty scared. I try to get up to go and he just won't let me. So finally I sit back down. He finishes up my hair, puts another layer of brown dye on it (all I wanted in the first place), cuts my hair, and finally I am free to go. I am about to walk out of the door, then the cashier goes, "your total is $93.34." ... I go, "but Gavin, you told me you'd do it for $55, then you said it would be free. You completely messed up my hair." Gavin: "no I didn't sweetheart. I said $85. I told you that." Me: "I'm not paying $85. You completely screwed my hair." Gavin: "if you don't want to pay, don't pay. I'm not gonna stop you. What goes around comes around." Me: "Bye then." Gavin: "Bye. Expect a text from me later." Then I walk out. Not sure what is going to happen next but I have never had such a strange, uncomfortable, awful experience in my life. Don't come here. Just don't. read more

Hi, This is a beautiful new Aveda salon. Levi did a great job on my hair! He really listens to what you have to say and has nice eye for color. He didn't rush and had great suggestions for care, products, etc. Best of all...they played great music...where else do you get to hear Coltrane's Love Supreme while sitting around waiting for your hair to dry? The salon is adding massage and steam room downstairs, too. A little pricey, but there's currently a discount if you go on Wed's or Thurs's, and it's worth it to get a great cut that will last for a long time. Really nice experience overall. read more

Not only did Garvin give me a fabulous cut and a fabulous color he never made me feel self conscious about the mess that was on my head. I cant say enough about this salon. The staff is warm, friendly and professional. The vibe is relaxed yet down to business. And the massage chairs at the shampoo sinks are amazing after a long day or a short one! Garvin is an excellent hairstylist! I'd grown my (very) curly and unruly hair, knowing that I'd eventually chop it all off. The difficult part of this process, for me, wasn't saying goodbye to the long hair, but finding the right stylist to trust with my curly hair. I found Garvin, thanks to my boyfriend (who also has curly hair) who had scheduled an appointment with Garvin many months prior. I explained the hair style I was looking to achieve, Garvin listened, worked his magic and I am now a very happy and satisfied customer. I can't speak for the rest of the salon services, but two things are wonderful about this salon: 1. They are an AVEDA salon and sell their incomparable products! This is good news. I'll tell you why. Other than a meagre selection of AVEDA shampoos priced over the top at Duane Reade, you can't find Aveda anywhere else in hipster Brooklyn (i.e. Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, etc.)! Before I discovered this salon I would shlep into Manhattan to the SOHO store or the Union Square store to re-up on a conditioner. 2. I splurged and went for their facial (only $60 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays! Unheard of savings in this city - especially for an AVEDA salon!) I was skeptical because I've spent more on a facial in NYC and been very disappointed. I proceeded only because I had a family reunion the next weekend and needed to look and feel my best, and at $60 dollars I was willing to take the risk. Just this once. I was curious. Well, I arrived in a lousy mood and somehow was expecting catastrophic results. I was entirely wrong. The esthetician was so pro, and had the coolest demeanor, she just put me at ease right away, and on top of it was highly complimentary about my skin, allowing me to see how by understanding and treating my skin to the right products (she NEVER tried to push any AVEDA products on me, instead only spoke about the ones I was already using, offering judicious and balanced opinions. So refreshing!) Overall I really hope this salon keeps thriving, and the complaints about the other services give a heads-up to the rest of the team to up their game, because I think this salon has the potential to be first-rate. I recommend the facials, my skin is still glowing and is much smoother and even. This facial really changed my skin's texture - it sloughed off the dead skin cells, and accelerated the process of drying up those awful acne bumps, so that they are no longer there. Highly recommend this salon for facials and products, and LOVE that it is free of Manhattan snobbery and pretension. And personally I loved the two women I met briefly who worked at the front entrance, they weren't pushy and both were very pleasant in a down to earth and sweet way. No attitude at all! SO nice! I was a walk-in appointment on a Saturday for a regular bikini wax. There were 2 people at the reception desk & had good service from both of them. Katya was the aesthetician: She managed to gauge my personality & was professional, very well mannered, polite & bubbly. She offered me a full consultation on my preferences from what style of bikini line to a choice of wax that I would prefer - something I've not been asked before. She was gentle too, which is a first for me & made sure it was all perfect before checking I was happy, she also gave me a glass of water to take home as it was so hot (summer) on my way home, then we said out goodbyes. They also have a little tip envelope at the reception desk which I liked a lot, as I prefer it to handing cash directly. read more

This salon ruined my hair. I was golden blonde, just looking to have my highlights touched up and a trim. I walked out (after 5.5 hours) sporting white-blonde hair with orange streaks running through it. Not only does my hair look terrible, but when I told the guy who did it I wasn't happy, he blamed it on me saying I shouldn't highlight my hair anymore. Excuse me? I've been highlighting my hair for fifteen years without any problem. He even told me I had made him feel uncomfortable. After visiting Wayne Agassi, my hair could pass as a halloween wig. I called asking for a last minute appointment, and even though it was Garvin's day off, he made time to do an incredible wash, cut and blow out. Everything about the salon is excellent - the attention to detail is impressive: super nice receptionist, lemon water and cookies available, massage chairs while they deep condition your hair, a wet cut first and then a dry cut to make sure it's even, and a really well-styled blow out. Garvin is super easy to talk to and makes sure he's doing what you want. It was a great experience and I am thrilled with the cut. I'll be back next time I'm in Brooklyn! read more

Today I got color and a cut from Levi Peterson. Both look great! He thought out what he wanted to do and explained why, then showed me a picture of what he had in mind. He was very sweet and fun to be with and my hair looks so much better. The salon is also nicely designed and relaxed and the receptionist was very warm and friendly. I also found out that the fabulous Freamon Chavous is working there as a massage therapist! I highly recommend both of these talented people. read more

This place sucks!!!!!! Run the other way! He ruined my hair!! After I repeatedly told him i wanted long bangs and long hair and he cut it so short and my bangs are above my eyebrows!! I specifically told him to just trim it and even brought in a picture of what i wanted and he still failed. Now I look like he put a bowl over my head and cut around it. He dropped the comb on the ground and put it back in my hair with out washing it. But before my cut After they shampooed me I sat in the chair with wet hair for so long that my hair dried!!Then when he was cutting my hair he was makin me play musical chairs. He had me change seats every five minutes. He had his assistant dry my hair; she sucks, she's still learning. That's great but I'm not paying all that money to be a guinea pig. He is extremely unprofessional and disgusting. It is over priced and not worth it. All your paying for is the decorated salon. I rather have a great stylist in a not so nice venue than a nice venue and shitty stylist. read more

Horrible, horrible service. I don't usually write reviews, but this is definitely warranted. The owner is very rude and overall the attitude at this place shows that they only care about money and don't really enjoy what they do or care for you as a customer. I phoned to make an appointment and carefully outlined what I wanted done to my hair. When I turned up I again told them what I wanted done and showed them pictures. They agreed that they could do it. Initially, the owner was going to be my stylist but then turned me over to someone else. I wasn't offended because, I simply wanted my hair done. The other stylist came over looked at the pics of the style I wanted and said she wasn't sure she could do it but that she would "try". (This was after they had already started a protein treatment on my hair). I asked how much it would cost to"try" because I wasn't willing to pay a lot if it wasn't going to be like I wanted it. She said she would have to talk to the boss. After a few minutes, she came back and said he was going to come talk to me himself. I waited, but he never came over. Eventually when she came back to wash out my protein treatment, she said that he was going to refer me to some other salon to get the style done. I'm sitting there with my hair already wet and they wanted to send me somewhere else to get my hair done!??? Instead of getting angry, I politely asked her to wash out the treatment and pull my hair back into a simple ponytail and I'll be on my way. At the end of the 3 hours I spent there, I didn't get my hair done, ended up going home and doing it myself and paying them $100 for their "service". I shouldn't have tipped, but the lady was nice. Not once did the owner come over to apologize or talk to me about the style I wanted. Very poor customer service skills. Would not go back and would not recommend. read more

I spent my birthday morning being pampered at Wayne Agassi this morning. Laura gave me a wonderful facial - relaxing, luxurious, fabulous - leaving me with the glowing skin I hoped for... Bernard's massage did the trick as well - more relaxation, working out that stress, body now feeling like jello. Worth every penny. I was a little concerned about spending 85 to get my hair done for a beauty pageant. But these guys were excellent - My stylist, Kareeme, did an excellent job - she took time to make sure she understood what I wanted and did exactly that. Julie, who washed my hair, gave me the best scalp massage - I was so relaxed and happy by the time I got to my show that I wasn't nervous at all. They even let me do my make-up and change downstairs where I had a lovely mirror and table - I felt like a star! When I moved to NYC, I tried at least 8 different stylist. I was thrilled when I found Levi Peterson! When I first went to him a little over 2 years ago, my hair was down past the middle of my back. I have very thick wavy hair and it is always difficult to get a good cut that leaves my hair shaped properly. Levi is amazing at it. Then, I decided to take the plunge and cut my hair drastically short, boy short. Levi coached me through the transition and I LOVE my short hair. I constantly get compliments on my cut and I have more confidence than ever in my look. I also have to mention that the grow out of my haircuts, both my long and short hair, are amazing. Every hair cut looks good fresh from the salon but you can really tell if a cut is a good by how it grows out. My cut has evolved as it grows and looks amazing at each length. I highly recommend Levi as a stylist, you will not be disappointed. Levi is currently at Wayne Agassi's Aveda Salon and Spa in Brooklyn. The salon itself is superb.
